Came in to get a smog test. Saw on the website that they except walkins and do not except appointments. However, after taking a 30 minute drive out here, I pulled up and found out that he had appointments for the next hour. When I asked if this is some thing, I should just call ahead for he said I don't pick up the phone ever. So I'm not quite sure how to get a smog test done at an effective time. I do not know what happened to this place but it is a shame to see how horrible and unprofessional it has become. I came in multiple times within a week (and called prior to confirm availability) and both times I was turned away. The first time as soon as I got out of the car the servicer comes out and tells me he is done for the day. When I tell him I called him before and he said he'd take me he said "no im tired and have three cars waiting" Second time, I called again before heading over and the man over the phone was very polite and said to go anytime. I specifically called because I was lwaving work early for this. When I arrive (3 hours before closing) the man says hes done for the day. I couldnt believe it and we went back and forth. He said that the owner was the one who answered and hes the "servicer" so I needed to speak to him to confirm. I am not one to write these long reviews but this is how upset I am. I told him this was unreasonable and not a way to handle customers. He would not guarantee service would be done the next time (depending on how he felt) then he started going off on how he rather not accept Groupons anymore because he rather deal with people paying full price. I was baffled and told him he shouldn't offer it then and he just said its the owner who does it. Theres so much more that I just do not have the energy to share anymore but please save yourself the headache and do not come here. read more

Took my Prius here today. Tony is the man. Doesn't price inflate and pretty efficient. Site has limited parking but Tony and his brother try to get you in and out. Had 2 cars in front of me and took about 30 minutes in total time to complete this smog process. I'll definitely bring other cars here. read more

I know they do good work because I have been here before so I bought a Groupon for a smog test because it was a good deal and then took time out of my work day on a Monday to drive 30 minutes here just for them to tell me they're too busy and also are closing early that day and to come back Saturday. I drove back Saturday to find the business closed even though it was during their open hours of operation. I called multiple times to try to get an answer. I thought maybe they were just closed for lunch, even though there was no sign indicating that, but I waited around until 1pm and still they were closed. Their hours of operation say they close for the day at 2. I wish I could return my Groupon. This is ridiculous. read more

Terrible customer service. There is no reception area or even a place to sit down. I waited in the doorway for ten minutes before being acknowledged. Then I was told to move my car to the only parking spot available, a tight squeeze. After receiving the paperwork, I waited another 15 minutes in the doorway before it was collected. Finally, I was told to move my car into the garage, another tight squeeze. I told him my car had just had a recall installed and he proceeded with the test. Before the test was over, he told me my car was going to pass and he would now collect the certification fee. A few minutes later he told me that my car did not pass, that the dealer must have done something wrong when installing the recall. When I asked for the certification fee back he said he would apply it to the re-test fee. So I took my car back to the dealer and was told it has to be driven for a bit before the oxygen sensor calibrates, something a smog tester should have known and told me before performing the test. The dealer was able to calibrate the sensor, but when I took it back to Superior Smog, he said he would not perform a re-test the same day. Total waste of four hours and the test fee. read more

I found this place through Yelp! while looking for a STAR Smog Test Station near my work in Van Nuys. After reviewing a few places, this spot had glowing reviews and a great price! I called to set up an appointment and spoke to Tony on the phone. (He's the owner!) He helped me find an appointment time that worked for me in the upcoming few days and set me up! Very friendly! $25 smog check (+ CA taxes/fees) and they are STAR CERTIFIED! $25 is a SUPER GREAT DEAL for a STAR Smog Check. Plus the California fees it was only $35! So much cheaper than other places! Also, I saw a previous review that stated that the Groupon deal said it was $25 and they actually charge $35. If that guy were to read the DETAILS section of the deal, it states that they also charge certain amounts for the mandatory fees that come with the Smog Check in California. It is all clearly noted and this business' rating shouldn't be hurt based on the fact that someone didn't read what they were buying. This place is great! These guys are efficient at a fair price. I went here for a smog check and was in and out in no time. On Saturday I realized my registration was due Monday. So I brought my 1992 Ford Econoline E250 here and got a better price than I'm used to paying for a smog. Their price is very reasonable! They sent the certificate to the DMV for me and I was able to pay my registration online on Sunday. (Whew, another life obstacle adverted!)
