Going for a smog check is kind of like going for that annual check up with your doctor, except it's bi-annually and it's for your car. Either way, it's not the funnest way to spend an afternoon but it's something that needs to be done nonetheless. And here's where Superior Smog comes into play, Tony/Norik is a solid smog tech with several years of automotive experience under his belt. This guy knows his stuff and he's really pleasant, so this place is 2 for 2 in that sense which is better than most places in regards to automotive work. Other than that, Superior Smog offers extremely fair prices compared to most smog testing sites I've come across and was very time efficient. So if you're in the need for a smog check and happen to be in the vicinity of Van Nuys, do yourself a favor and head on over to Superior Smog and do the dang thing. Also, if you're at all into the auto tuning scene, there are some really sweet rides in the lot that you don't see everyday, so might as well come on in and check those out if anything... read more

Would've been 4 stars if Norik wasn't rude and rushed me out for another customer. I didn't read the policy of the 8.25 service fee, and that is my failure that I hold myself accountable for. I wasn't argumentative about the fee, I just wanted to re-read the policy through Groupon. He was very irritated and said "this is supposed to be 60 dollars but you're getting it for 25. It's cheap. Now go I have another customer." Norik did his job well and efficiently. Just how he handled himself today was uncalled for. read more

I found this place through Groupon and am glad I did. This place was easy to locate and there was no line or wait when I arrived. I did not have an appointment. I was helped by Farid, a very kind and friendly gentleman. The smog test was easy and quick and Farid was thorough about everything. I won't hesitate to return when I need to get a smog test again. read more

In all the years I've been going around the valley getting Smog tests, this has been the very best, most convenient spot. A friend recommended and I will also recommend to my friends and family. Norik is super helpful and efficient. I was in and out of there in LESS than 30 minutes. Maybe even 20. Super quick. Also helpful if you make an appointment! read more

Norik is quick and focused. He does a great job getting your smog test done fast. He has a calm and pleasant demeanor. He also has great customer service. His place is the first space once you make a left turn into the driveway. You may pass it up the first time. I also came early in the morning on a weekday which is probably the best time to come. read more

Technician was extremely rude. Was bothered when I asked about pricing. Place appeared very clean. The entire time he was facing his smog computer and did not directly speak. Not a good way to treat a customer. I highly recommend a different place. read more

Cheapest smog test in town. Very fast smog check. I made appointment at 10:00 in the morning. I got there a little bit early was taken in ten minutes early. He finish within eight minutes. He super fast and excellent customer service. Thank you. read more

I showed up this morning without an appointment and five minutes before the shop even opened. Norik greeted me and pulled my car in immediately. He was friendly and efficient and had me out of there in less than 15 minutes. I would definitely recommend taking your car here for a smog test. read more

Went here and my car failed the smog test. Hate giving bad reviews, but opporator saw I had a check engine light on. I felt like he knew it would fail on the computer and didn't tell me. I still had to pay when it failed was horrible experience and waste of time. Would not go back here. read more

I went in for transmission fluid change earlier in February in my Toyota Camry 2018. I bought OEM Toyota transmission fluid and asked Joe to help do drain and fill.The drain and fill was completed. After that there was a rough driving issues started. I went back to show my car to joe and he drove the car he told me he don't see any issues. I wanted him to check transmission fluid port on if there is low transmission fluid he didn't agree and told me I might be overthinking. I went to different mechanic in April and he checked. I paid $100 to reopen the port for transmission fluid and what we saw was no fluid came out from the primary port. He added 0.5 quarters left. The issues I have had for rough idle and need to have higher RPM on slope went away completely.According to him you have to keep the car running when you drain the fluid and you need to have it at the right temperature he said the drain and fill wasn't done correctly that's why there was still room for fluid. The viscosity of the fluid makes a difference in how much you can fill and drain. He double checked for leakage and there were no leaks either. When I went to joe and asked about don't you have to keep car warm to see if temperature is right? He said you only do it when there is a leak. I don't think Joe knew enough about mechanics of New car. I wasn't overthinking when I went to ask Joe for help and asked to recheck the transmission fluid. I paid $260 for labor only( $160 to Joe and $100 to another mechanic) for same job. It's really absurd. Overall this could have damaged my transmission. I think for future the customer advise should be taken seriously. I know my car well so I know when it's not acting good. I have been driving it from 10 years.

The service was smooth and I was informed every step of the way . I've gone to other smog places before and they are usually quiet and just assume you don't care what's happening. so it was nice to be in the loop. They also offered DMV services which was convenient for me and my husband . Full disclosure I intended to write this review whether my car passed or not . Those are the things the business cannot control. Just like any other business or service it may or may not go in your favor specially if necessary steps are not taken . I definitely will be coming back in the future and recommend this place to friends and family.
