    Coxinhas

After living in Brazil for 6 months there were some things I was craving and had to check this place out. I came at a random time, around 1pm on a Monday, so their lunch buffet was winding down already. Can't comment on that, but I will be back. However, they did still have some COXINHA! I could not pass that up, and it did not disappoint. You can tell it was hand made and it was delicious. (If you aren't familiar with coxinha.. it's a fried dough ball filled with chicken and something similar to cream cheese called catupiry) They have a small selection of imported stuff from Brazil.. Guarana the famous soda, Nescau which is similar but better than Nesquick, pão de queijo (little cheese breads), condensed milk, juice, etc. They also have a section of meat in the back, a little butcher station. On Saturday they serve feijoada and I will definitely come try!

Went with a group of coworkers last week. I was sold when I was told there would be Coxinhas (which I did not get because I absolutely pigged out on the buffet). The food was hot and plentiful. Grabbed a Guarana Antarctica out of the cooler on my way in and honestly would have been set with just that. Hard to find here in the states and now I know where I can go to get it. The candies and complimentary coffee was just what I needed to stay awake at work after such a filling meal. My eyes were definitely bigger than my stomach. Next time I won't chug the Guarana so I can fill up on the food!

Friends brought a cut of beef (picana?) for grilling and some sausages (beef, again?) that were marvelous. Are they open as a restaurant or just a grocery store?

We've been here once before. We really liked it but it's been a while since then. We started with the Pao de Queijo, which is the cheesy bread you usually get at a Brazilian steakhouse. We both love this kind of bread and theirs was fantastic. I ordered the Pinanha Rustica and I am so happy that's what I settled on. I ordered the beef medium rare and it was cooked perfectly. The Chimichurri sauce was good but honestly, the beef didn't need the help. The thing that surprised me the most was how much I loved the Biro-Biro Rice as a side. It was a really unique combo of things I've never had together before. I would probably go back and order an entree of just that if they offer it! My wife ordered the Costela Ao Molha Madeira Com Risotto de Parmesao. She really liked how the risotto was super cheesy. She said it actually reminded her of the cheesy bread. The beef short rib was very tender and juicy. She said it was a simple dish that added up to something special. We rarely order dessert but decided to split the Petit Gateau de Doce de Leite. It was so rich, dense and delicious. The pecan ice cream with it was great as well. It was small but enough for us to split. I'm bummed I forgot to get our servers name because he was fantastic. We really need to not go so long between visits because this visit was just as good as the last one. This review originally appeared in the Jacksonville Fun, Eats & Drinks Facebook group.

What really sets this place apart is the personal touch--the chef comes out to greet guests, makes sure everyone is enjoying their meal, and takes the time to get to know his customers. His kindness and passion for the food create a welcoming atmosphere that is hard to find. The restaurant itself is small, cozy, and has great vibes, making it perfect for an intimate dining experience. If you're planning to come with a larger group, I would definitely recommend making a reservation. Families with young children will appreciate the thoughtful touches as well. They provide crayons and paper to keep little ones entertained while waiting for their meal. Great food, wonderful hospitality, and a warm atmosphere--I highly recommend this place!

Some of our favorites are the beef ribs (not always available), sweet plantains, green vegetables, picanha, sirloin, chicken lasagna, and chicken breast with bacon. Highly recommend this place if you want your food to be served hot, fast, and tasty!

We ordered the samba plate, which allows you to pick any 3 meats, so we selected picanha (cooked rare), shrimp, and sausage. Unfortunately, the steak ended up being closer to well done by the time we made it back to the house, but I think that's just the cost of taking steak to-go, and not necessarily the fault of the restaurant or chef since it's natural for it to continue cooking inside of the styrofoam box. Temperature aside, the flavor and quality of the meat was great, and you receive a very generous portion for the price. Along with the samba plate, we ordered steak fries and empanadas. Although the steak fries were pretty plain.. basically just steak plopped on top of fries, they were delicious, especially with the creamy herb sauce that is served with them. The empanadas were ginormous, and I like that the dough almost flaky rather than being super thick. We were very pleased with Brazilicious and will definitely hit them up again next time!

It's thick and meaty and not too soft. The pita is of the very thick and soft variety, which is naturally my favorite. The vinaigrette and sour cream sauce mix also works pretty well. The fries were just okay. In hindsight, some of the other menu items were more interesting, but I just felt like getting a wrap. I'll have try other stuff if I see this truck again.

They were crispy on the outside, warm on the inside, and filled with flavorful meat. The sauces paired perfectly with them and made an already great appetizer even better. For my entrée, I ordered the Bandeja Paisa, and it did not disappoint. The meats were the star of the plate. Everything was juicy, cooked perfectly, and seasoned just enough without being overpowering. The steak was surprisingly tender despite being well done, with just the right amount of fat. The sausage had a great snap, the egg was perfectly jammy, and the chicharrón was absolutely incredible--crispy, crunchy, and easily one of the best I've had. I didn't try the sweet plantains since I'm not a fan and they couldn't be substituted. The arepa was good, although nothing particularly memorable. The only parts of the meal I wasn't impressed with were the rice, which was a bit too salty for my taste, and the beans, which lacked flavor and were underwhelming. For dessert, I tried both the tiramisu and the chocolate cake. The tiramisu was just okay--it wasn't bad, but it didn't stand out, and I wouldn't order it again. The chocolate cake, however, was outstanding. It was incredibly moist, rich without being overly sweet, and the perfect way to end the meal. Overall, Salento does an amazing job with their meats, and that's what I'd recommend most. While a couple of the sides and one dessert didn't quite hit the mark for me, the empanadas, Bandeja Paisa, chicharrón, and chocolate cake were all excellent. I'll definitely be back to try more of the menu. The environment is pretty nice and quiet.
