TLS has tons of snacks, booze, soups, and even some light groceries. If you're on your way home after a long day and want to make one (easy, all inclusive) stop, then TLS got you. Pizza is definitely their mainstay and they bake 'em well. Yes, the pizza is great in texture and flavor, but we ALSO enjoyed the to go burger special.

A Pershing/Persian is a doughnut that is similar to a cinnamon roll but is made with doughnut batter. Meijer has had a plethora of Persian varieties lately, with one of them going for a cookies and cream vibe. The surface of this pastry contains a whipped cream-like frosting with miniscule chocolate cookie pieces. Due to their small size, the crumbles don't add any texture but do add a faint chocolate flavor to the creamy topping. One mini-OREO cookie can be found within the topping as the finishing touch. The cinnamon flavor of the pastry's body is sweet and relatively subtle with no uncomfortable burning/heat to it. Cinnamon granules can be seen in the dough after taking a few bites if you look closely enough. I found the dough to have a nice thick and chewy texture while also being light and pillowy. Initially I had some trepidation as the topping did not appear very thick, which concerned me because the topping to pastry ratio would be way off. Although I still think it could have been a little thicker, the ratio was sufficient for the most part. It is, in fact, a tiny "general store" that is inconspicuous and easily missed. It sits right on a two-lane coastal "highway," barely 1/4 mile from Lake Michigan, but would just as likely be found in some backwater Alabama swamp (not an insult, just an ambience). They have a small deli in the back and the young unassuming young guy making pizzas and other baked goods. He seemed nice, albeit so what suspicious. There was also a quintessential old farmer-type playing lottery scratch-offs by scratching off the barcode without actually playing the game on the front, then communicating with the cashier woman on a first name basis (Sarah). What a weird experience. I'm always interested in the colorful characters these tiny little towns and their stores. The pizza? Some of the best I've found south of Holland. The sauce had a hint of sweetness, and the crust had a couple of semi burnt bubbles that added to the delicious crunch of the crust. The taste may not be worthy of a five, but certainly a Midwest tiny-town-in-the-middle-of-nowhere five, and certainly worth a visit for pizza, miscellaneous baked goods... or beer, wine, and lottery.

When I told them that Emma had quoted me the price they yelled at Emma and sent her back to the kitchen and embarrassed her in front of all of the customers waiting in line. Afternoon some discussion they did give them to me at the price that was quoted and then preceded to tell me never to come back again and to get out of the store. They were so rude. I would go to the Glen store all the time as I live down the road, now I will never go there again. And let everyone know about my experience. I can't believe how they treated a customer.

Addendum: right after I wrote this review I had the following experience. I walked in desperately looking for croissants and asked if they had any even though there weren't any in the case. A nice lady went into the back, got three of the frozen croissants they would use to make deli sandwiches, rang them up and sold them to me ad hoc. One of her co-workers said "I didn't even know we can do that." And the nice lady replied, "we can do anything the customer wants."

Some seem to actively try to look occupied as soon as you walk through the second set of sliding doors. They'll look at you then look down as you walk in...and it tends to be the same greeters every time. 2) Twice now I've asked people at the doughnut section if these particular doughnuts are Boston cream filled and both tubes they swore that these are. Never again will I trust the bakery people who either lie or don't know their own products.
