(My review is going to be for the Supermarket side of this business and not so much the restaurant side because 1) It's been a few years since we've eaten here and B) that wasn't an awesome time.) I love the aromas when you walk into a Mexican grocery store. Mexican food has such a wonderful palette that I instantly want to buy everything and start cooking for days. Supermercado Puebla isn't huge. In fact, it's on the small side, but what it lacks in square footage it makes up for in fully stocked shelves. There's seldom open shelf space, and while it may seem cramped and the aisles can be a little tight, it makes sense and everything is logically arranged. The meat counter in the back is a constant hub of activity, with 3 or 4 people cutting, packaging, and seasoning meats. The produce area is my favorite of the store, stocking fresh everyday veggies as well as Mexican veggies. And, hand to god, the best jalapeños I can find in town. Seriously THE BEST! Mexican is very much the prominent language here (expectedly), but for the most part the staff will do their best to help you find something or answer any questions. From seasonings to sauces to kitchen utensils to fresh cut meats to amazing produce to Mexican candies to glass-bottle Coke® (THE BEST!) Craving Mexican? This is the place for you! The supermarket and restaurant is an all in one. Their restaurant has all your favorites like burritos, $1.99 tacos, and even fajitas. Their salsa Verde sauce here is really really good! My tacos were all well seasoned, from asada to my chorizo and pollo. Tacos came with lots of cilantro and lime which was great. My 3 year old son ate all his chicken quesadillas too so you know the food isn't that bad, lol! They also have a supermarket where there have a diverse group of traditional sauces and spices. Lots of hot sauces, dried peppers, and even poultry. The diced steak is convenient if you want to make tacos at home. You can grab their traditional sweet bread from the bakery too. Pretty solid tacos and burritos. The menu is in Spanish. Everything is in Spanish. The tacos are pretty legit as it's tucked away inside of a Spanish supermarket. The tacos are a whopping $2 and they use traditional corn tortillas; which are fantastic. The green house hot sauce is incredible. The burritos are stuffed and only $5. The food is pretty good, however the portions of meat are slim. The beef and chicken were both overcooked, the numerous times I've eaten here. However for the low cost and the flavorful tortillas, it's still a go-to if you're in the area. I wouldn't travel to eat here, but the fact it's down the road from work makes for a quick and inexpensive lunch. Overall, solid. read more

This is a tough one so let's just get to it. There is very little English spoken here but they will definitely work with you. This taqueria is located inside of a Mexican grocery store. The entrance on the left leads into the taqueria, the entrance on the right leads into the market. They are connected inside so you can use either one. I ordered tacos, chorizo, tripa,and al pastor. I also asked for water and the lady at the counter grabbed a cup and filled it out of the dish wash sink. They don't have ice apparently. It took a little bit maybe ten minutes. Not a big deal. World Cup highlights were on the tv in Spanish naturally. I started with the Tripe taco. This was the best tripe I have ever had. Salty, peppery a little fatty feeling. It was wonderful. The salsa verde had a nice acidity that went well with it. Next I went for the al pastor. This was ok. It didn't come off a spit and it was pretty lean. I like a little fattier cut like shoulder with some bark on it. Next was the chorizo. This was the worst chorizo taco I have ever had. I can say that because I have never had a bad chorizo taco. I've had great ones and good ones and even an ok one, but never a bad one. It was dry. I'm not sure how you accomplish that. It's as if it was steamed. Chorizo usually runs red with a little or a lot of grease. This had none. It was dry and bland. Not sure where you get bland chorizo but they found a supply. If I go back I will order tripe sopes. They may be so good that I will update this review to five stars. read more

I am so disappointed! I wanted to love this place, but sadly I did not, and for a few obvious reasons. 1. The girl at the register didn't have a mask over her nose. When I ordered 3 tacos she laughed at me, but I soon realized it was because I was not proficient in saying "tres tacos" and holding up 3 fingers. 2. The cook took my order easily, and he also was not masked. I should have left at that point, but I paid 15.00 and left a $2 tip, which maybe I should not have done. 3. Lastly, my tacos were empty corn tortilla shells with all the meat and veggies in a pile on the side of the container, with some of it hanging out the side. I guess the workers decided I was really funny?? I won't be going back. read more

Being from CA, I can assure you this is authentic Mexican food. The grocery store had everything from cooking utensils to piñatas. You can even find guava and other tropical fruit here. The restaurant serves real street tacos. There's a Mexican bakery and a fruit stand inside as well. This is a treasure! read more

I can't believe no one has reviewed this treasure?! This place is growing and that's because they have authentic Mexican food and vibes- as in don't expect to hear anything less than Latin music playing on the tv's. Aside from having some of the BEST tacos- no really, my favorite are the tripas. I was a little sad that they don't have buche, but maybe in time??? Tortillas are hand made and well, make sure you try the green salsa in the bottle. They also have a full grocery store with all the items you need to produce the most authentic Mexican food at home. Ok so you NEED to come here and eat the food from the restaurant side!! This is way better than any el nopal or other mexican restaurant in town. The tacos are super cheap and insanely good! The torta, quesadilla, and sopes are were it's at too. Our favorite protein option they have is the al pastor or steak. We just had it last night and I already want it again!! read more

I was very surprised by this place. Half is a market half is a restaurant. It was clean and I had some of the best tacos I have ever eaten. This place is simple and not fancy at all but was way more than I expected from the outside. I will go as far as saying these are the best tacos in Louisville! read more
