Well, I didn't have nearly as bad an experience as most of you, but I didn't have the greatest experience, so it boils down to about a 3-star review. I've used them twice, once in June and once in March for transportation to and from LaGuardia (June) and Newark (March). I booked both trips online, and tipped in advance. Both times (4 rides) I never had problems with the drivers not being helpful, not lifting my luggage into the van, etc. And both times, we were picked up right on time from the hotel (as a matter of fact, they were early the last time). My biggest problem lies with the transport from the airport. It looks like their business model requires them to completely fill their vans in order to make money. Sometimes, this means waiting 45 minutes or longer while they wait for the right amount of people to fill their vans. This is the least fun thing to do when you are excited to start your vacation. In June, we arrived super early in the morning (before 9:00AM, I believe). Since they wanted to fill the van, they included passengers going to every single part of the city. We arrived at our hotel after 2 hours. I guess on the bright side, we saw parts of NYC we would have never seen otherwise. Also, the driving is a little erratic. OK, a lot erratic. But if you can get over that and luck out with your driver, it's an affordable way to get to and from Manhattan. read more

Listen, I know this wasn't supposed to be a luxury ride by any means, but you'd think Super Shuttle would know how to manage their riders by now. I booked in advance and waited 30 minutes at JFK after I announced that I had arrived. I then spent 30 minutes riding around JFK picking up other passengers. We ended up picking up more people than we had seats, resulting in a poor man having to squash up front with his garment bag. The real perplexing part occurred when we started dropping people off. We started down around 56th and the last rider was dropped off at 145th. I don't quite understand why they decided to put so many people who were going so far apart into one van. I know there were other vans at JFK - I saw them! - and I wonder if they all had similar crazy routes. Super Shuttle, if you're reading this please talk to your operations manager and try and find a better way to schedule passengers. I fully expect a shared van ride to take longer than a taxi, but it would be excellent if the long duration of the journey could be cut down. read more

Use LYFT - It's CHEAPER!!!!!! See below. I used Super Shuttle to go from LaGuardia to the Belvedere hotel in Manhattan. I booked a reservation in advance online for two people at the cost of $18.00 per person. The total came to $39.20 total. We arrived at our airport, retrieved our bags and checked in online per the emailed instructions. We waited about 20 minutes before the shuttled arrived. We made one stop on the way into the city to pick up two additional passengers before we were each dropped off one by one. Honestly, I got the feeling that the driver was a little loss but the entire ride lasted less than 45 minutes. The driver was professional and drove with care. He didn't bother to carry our bags or lift them out of the car. He also didn't open the door for us so I chose not to tip him. On the way home we ended up taking a shared ride via Lyft. That cost us $23 for two people versus the $40 Super Shuttled charged. I was a little pissed I hadn't used Lyft instead of SS during our trip in... Moral of the story, use Lyft and save $20. It took the same amount of time, offered a comparable experience AND offered a more economical fixed rate. read more

For the price from JFK to Manhattan, was a good deal and an acceptable service. Probably not the newest vehicles and a little bit noisy, but the waiting was short and the on line reservation was very easy. Fortunately, I was the first to be picked up and the first to be delivered in the Hotel, so the timings where very reasonable. I would recommend it if you have a low budget and you don´t want to spend $60 in a Taxi. read more

I'd give zero stars if I could. I've already filed a formal complaint. My flight landed in Newark just after midnight, and i did not arrive at home until 2:40 in the morning. My driver told us repeatedly that he was the "only" SuperShuttle driver available at that entire airport at that time, and so he had to fill his car to capacity. There were 10 of us in the vehicle, and we did not leave the airport until almost 1:30am. My phone died while I was in the shuttle, and - understandably - my husband became worried when I wasn't home by 2:15 in the morning. He called SuperShuttle to see where I was, and they connected him to the NJ dispatcher who *hung up on him.* By the time he got someone on the phone again, I'd arrived. I booked super shuttle because I thought it would be faster and safer than taking NJ Transit after midnight. I was wrong on both counts. I felt like I was being held hostage in a van for almost three hours, while the driver attempted to pack in as many people as would fit and then drove us ALL OVER THE CITY with no concern for where the people getting in the van were going. We went across the bridge to Penn Station, to the Lower East Side, to the East Village, to mid town west, to the upper east side and then to west Harlem. It was insane. I use group shares all the time and have never taken a more nonsensical route. By the time the ride was over, everyone in the car was so angry that the driver and a Russian woman were literally screaming at each other. It was a nightmare. I will never take Super Shuttle again. Shuttle didn't show up after 3 calls and 1.1 hours of waiting. When they did show up, they loaded me up just to kick me off the shuttle because they were not headed Downtown. Newark APO - stay away they made me wait almost 1.2 hours for pickup. I spoke with several employees at welcome desk, this seems to be normal and drivers confirmed angry guests are common. The dispatch this morning Jose was asked for time he just kept saying 5 minutes 5 minutes when asked for a manager he transferred me to closed admin office. when I called back Jose hung u on my causing them to speak with Randy who was helpful. Felix driver was great after dispatch lies and delays .. I would avoid them and go with another or limo or taxi its worth it. Jose laughed and yelled at me thinking he will never be called on it. First conversation said driver would be in, Second stated 5 minutes, third said driver saw me go out and in bldg, 4th conversation had me go out to lot in which they left me and then tried to refuse my reservation, had to call 800 to finally get picked up. Lesson learned: NEVER take Super Shuttle from to airport to the city. Waited an hour and a half (yes, 90 MINUTES) for a shuttle from Newark Liberty to Grand Central. Should have taken the train to Penn Station + taxi instead. Have had good experience going to the airport with Super Shuttle (riding from the city to the airport); but will rely on public transport from now on when I'm at the airport. Things are bound to get messed up at the airport because you don't really have a reservation until you check in with the ground staff (after landing), then they need to scramble to get a sufficient # of passengers for a van ride out. Oh my god, I would never use this service again. I've been waiting until I got reimbursed for my missed flight before I wrote this review. I read the Yelp reviews when I landed at JFK and couldn't believe how overwhelmingly bad they were. I wasn't in a hurry so caught a shuttle into Manhattan despite the reviews. While there was a tiny mix up on the way in (They told me it would be 15 minutes until my shuttle and when I inquired about 15 minutes later, they told me the driver had already come and gone and that the next one would get in me in 10 minutes. How I missed the first one when I was sitting right where they told me was beyond me but I wasn't in a big hurry and 10 minutes was no big deal). I really wondered how they could be in business if they were as bad as their reviews. Leaving Manhattan to JFK was another story. I had a 5:30pm flight and the SuperShuttle dispatch told me I needed to catch a 1:30 shuttle at my hotel. I was ready and waiting at 1pm just relaxing in the hotel lobby. At 1:45 I called and they assured me it was coming, not to worry, and they'd get me there on time. This continued until nearly 3pm and with each conversation, I'd ask them if I should just jump in a cab. "We'll get you there" was always the answer. The driver picked me and was the first one to express some concern with the timing but assured me that I'd get there. On the way he made yet more stops and it wasn't until we were finally leaving Manhattan that I realized I probably wasn't going to make it with traffic. They dropped me off at JFK at 5pm which was too late to make my plane. I had to then find a hotel and make airline changes which cost me nearly $700 out of pocket. To their credit, they did reimburse me for all my additional expenses except for food. Never mind the stress, loss of a day's work, spending the night in Queens as I had to fly out of LaGuardia at 5am. I'm self-employed and was trying to save a little money since I wasn't in a rush and my ego isn't so large that I can't ride a shuttle. However, I would never trust this company to get you to the plane on time. There are times and places to save money, taking SuperShuttle to and from JFK is not one of them. read more

I wish I could give zero stars. I reserved a ride well in advance at Newark and it didn't show. Not only that but i got no call, email, or notification on the app. I called to find out where my driver was and the person on the phone said "no one is coming". This is at midnight in 5 degree weather (but roads are bare and dry). I have had good luck with SuperShuttle in Texas but will never use them again. One time stranded is one time too many. I would rather call a private service at 3 times the price. read more

Here's my advice: take Super Shuttle TO the airport, but NEVER FROM. I've taken SuperShuttle in a few different cities, and have found my experience fairly uniform over several years. Thus far, anytime I've ordered a ride to an airport, the pick up has been on time, and I've arrived in plenty of time for my flight. Sure, some of the rides have been long, especially packed like sardines in the van, but I've arrived ok at a good price. (Now that I see others' experience in reviews here, I'm feeling a little wary about saying this.) By contrast, airport pick-ups have been just awful every single time. One time, reserved passengers waited in the van for close to an hour at JFK, so the driver could go try to drum up more passengers at various terminals. Then, the route went all over Manhattan. Total time to get home: 4 hours. The absolute classic was at Burbank about 5 years ago -- a small airport in the Los Angeles area that was 20-30 minutes from my destination at night. My flight arrived around 9pm. I was done with baggage claim and on the shuttle in a few minutes. The affable Super Shuttle driver was sitting in his van, waiting for the 2 other reserved passengers. A little pleasant patter, we're all settled in and the driver seems ready to roll. But, no: instead he exits the van without comment, sits down on a bench with a couple of other drivers, and they play backgammon, smoke cigarettes and drink coffee for AN HOUR. At some point, out of the dark emerged a new, unreserved passenger, who spoke to the driver and got in the van. Maybe this is what he waiting for?! No, the game went on. The airport closes at 10, lights out and all, so there was no question of pissing this guy off by complaining. This was pre-Uber, Lyft, et al. and there was no other way home, unless we wanted to wait in the dark deserted airport waiting for an unreliable LA cab. So we sat, silently, as if everyone understood that one word would unleash a contagious but useless fury in all of us. Eventually, affable as before, the driver hopped back without a single word about the delay. Time to get home on this adventure: 2-1/2 hours Burbank finally convinced me to never, ever use Super Shuttle again for airport pickups, and I can see by reviews here and elsewhere that there's been no improvement. read more

We will never use SuperShuttle in the future. We were not able to schedule our pickup time. Instead SuperShuttle schedules the pickup time based solely on the flight schedule. In our case for 12 travelers the pickup time was scheduled much closer to our flight time than we were comfortable with, leaving zero allowance for traffic or other unexpected issues that might arise. To make matters worse, our shuttle never arrived and we were stranded. Fortunately we were leaving from Times Square in NYC and there were taxis coming and going. We ended up renting three van-type taxis and we barely made it to the airport on time. In fact, our flight was boarding while we were running to get to gate before they closed the door. The thing we learned was we could rent taxis on the spot for less than the SuperShuttle cost, without any of the hassle of scheduling in advance and hoping the shuttle arrives on time--or not at all. Skip the SuperShuttle when choosing transportation to Manhattan. I placed my reservation for pick up well in advance and upon arrival to LGA I checked in per their instruction. I continued to check for each prompted request. While in the airport I missed one call. I called back a few minutes later and the operator shared they had been trying unsuccessfully for a long time to get in touch with me and the shuttle would be over an hour if I would like to wait. Discouraging considering I made a reservation and their embellishment of how hard they had tried to reach me. read more

Not sure about all the negative reviews. Just got back to SF from NY today. Was looking at cheaper options of getting from Manhattan to JFK as the train takes more than 1 hr and Uber/Lyft/etc are all $30+. Had an early, 730am flight. I googled "JFK van" and Super Shuttle came up. The website looked legit and so I put in my route, was able to locate my flight details and SuperShuttle showed me the time my van would come. It was $22 + I gave my driver a $2 tip. I did this at 10pm the night before a 730am flight. I was skeptical and figured I would dispute the charge if the service didn't show up and just take a Pool or Line. They told me I would be picked up between 4:40am and 4:50am. I was up at 4:20, got a text from SS saying my van was on it's way and started to monitor via their website (you can track the van in real time). It was a bit later than expected (around 5am) when the van arrived. The driver showed up to where I was staying, put my bag in the car and off we went. 30 minutes later and a van with 3 other people we arrived at JFK. Hopped out and that was it. IMO it was worth the $10-$15 savings you would get from UberPool or Lyft Line and I saved $40 versus taking a standalone cab/uber/lyft. Overall, really solid experience and I have 0 complaints. I used them to get to the hotel from Newark Airport and the driver was loud, hostile and offensive towards other drivers including yelling and arguing on the road. The service ordered from the hotel to JFK, the driver was super late, and after three attempts to reach him, I was unsuccessful and therefore, I did not use them and had to call for a yellow cab. Very, very disappointing service, always late, and unprofessional. Please do not use them. read more

This company is a piece of carp, I used their service a couple of times in the past and I had minors set backs like the app sending texts of the driver being outside when he was just starting the route and in another occasion it was too packed but I paid it no mind. Today they outdid themselves in terms of bad service, my international flight is departing at 8:44 pm and my schedule pick up was 4:00 pm four hours prior but I thought is better safe than sorry, around 2:50 pm they just send a text saying that the had no drivers and that my card was refunded, I called them and asked them to schedule another ride because cancelled the reservation in less than 24 hr without any consideration for the transportation and financial situation of the customer a cap to the airport is 60+, the person gave to flying craps and just kept repeating that supershuttle refunded the money and I was up to me to find an alternative, this is just an hour notice and they acted like it was my responsibility, I will never recommend this service to anybody ever again. read more

Never EVER again! I booked a trip through Expedia and opted in for the to/from transportation to Midtown. I arrived at midnight and called from the Ground Transportation phone at terminal 4 to tell Super Shuttle that I was there. They told me to wait and the driver would come inside and call my name in about 15 minutes. 30 minutes later I called again and the dispatcher told me that the driver had come in and not found me. That was simply not true. When the driver arrived at 2:00 AM and we entered the van it was almost full except for one spot. The driver literally drove around JFK for another 20 minutes to pick up his one empty seat. I will never use this service again, EVER. read more

For 21 dollars, I got door to door service from Kennedy Airport to my apt. on the upper west side. I think it's a really good deal. The driver helps you with your bags, too. Even if you drag your luggage all the way to the shuttle, and then have to flag a cab to where ever you re going to from the subway, it comes to at least 20 bucks or more. The service from Laguardia to Manhattan made me want to scream - it was bad. You shouldn't have to wait over 30 minutes to be picked up especially when you make a reservation in advance. Then the driver provides zero info as to how many other people we are picking up and who he is going to drop off first. The driver drove all over the city and had no idea who to drop off first. We were crowded in the van like sardines and it was not worth the money. From the time we got off the plane until the time we arrived at our destination in the city, took approx. 4 hours!! It would normally only be the most 35 minutes!! You feel like you are riding around forever when you really could have been dropped off 10 minutes ago. For an additonal $10, i will definitely spring for a cab. Everyone else in the van agreed and we were all ready to get off and take a cab!! THe worst experience ever!!! read more

Terrible experience with Super Shuttle from Newark EWR airport! Even if you have a reservation made days in advance, the wait time for a shuttle can take a long time (in my case, one hour!). Super Shuttle does not make this explicitly clear when you book. There are also no Super Shuttle ground personnel at EWR -- instead you talk to the general EWR ground transport staff. The driver was rude and quite indifferent. He made four women cram in the last row like sardines, made me cram next to an elderly couple (who then had to hold carry-on bags on their laps for 2 hours) and kept the front passenger seat empty the whole time. He was also quite sarcastic when we told him our destinations -- tourists don't know NYC maps like the back of their hands, that's the whole point of taking a shuttle. This kind of rudeness makes for a poor introduction to NYC tourism. I am a long time customer of Super Shuttle and will likely never use it again in any city. There are far better alternatives via Yelp. It's also no wonder why transportation network companies like Uber are probably going to take over with their far better customer experience. read more

Pick up from La Guardia was 2 hrs late, ended up canceling and taking a cab. Going back it was early and tracking never activated or just didn't work. Driver had no clue where Terminal for JetBlue was at and kept trying to put me out at the wrong terminal! Made me get out to ask how to get over to the right terminal. I booked a shuttle from Manhattan to JFK using their app. The pickup time was 2:45 AM. When I got there, the doorman said the shuttle came at 2:30 AM and left 10 minutes later. I was shocked! I called their customer service line and the lady said it was my fault because they changed the pickup time and I wasn't there on time. She said they communicated this via email but I got no message from them (even if they did, was I supposed to stay awake during the entire night checking my email?). Horrible, horrible, horrible. I made a reservation with them for a pickup to JFK. They didn't show up, plain and simple. When the driver was a no-show, I tried calling them, but was repeatedly put on hold and then disconnected. When I finally got through to a person and didn't get cut off, they claimed that the driver was on his way. When the shuttle didn't show up after that, I tried calling again, and they claimed that the driver had already been through the area and hadn't seen me. Which was impossible, because I was at the designated pickup location well before before the scheduled time and 30 minutes afterward. There was no way the driver could have missed me, and I certainly didn't see the shuttle pass by (it's hard to miss a big blue van, right?). Either the driver screwed up the pickup address or just didn't come. Either way, I ended up calling a car service and spending $75 to get to JFK so I wouldn't miss my flight. Don't use this service. I waited for 1 and a half hour at newark airport, then 20 more minutes at the van because the driver "forgot" someone and before it they supposed to show up in the next 5 to 10 minutes every call i made... In the end, i landed at 7pm, had a pick up scheduled for 7:30 they showed up at 9 pm and got home at 10 pm. Definitely not worth it... There are buses at EWR Newark Airport for 15 dollars every 15 minutes that actually has a better schedulle.. Next time i will try those big buses... read more

The van picked me up over an hour after I checked in with my phone. Then, the van drove around other terminals to pick up other people. Total duration from checking in online until getting out of LaGuardia airport is over 2.5 hours. I know it is a shared van but it is ridiculous. What even worse is my friend who checked in the same time with me did not even receive a van number. She called customer service and they said they had system issue and just said sorry to her. NO SOLUTION WAS OFFERED. They won't even let my friend get on the same van with me. I will never use this service again! read more

Price: Not terrible $50 round trip from Manhattan to JFK. Outbound: The driver was 45 minutes LATE! On the positive side, the customer service line was very friendly and understand at 4:30am when I was calling to find out what happened to my shuttle. Return: I was under the impression when I booked at 4:15 shuttle that it would be ready when I arrived but I had to get a ticket and wait 30 mins for them to call my name for the next available shuttle. (First come, first serve) Then the driver drove around JFK for 1.5 HOURS picking up more passengers!! The whole process took so much longer than it should have. When my flight landed at LaGuardia, I promptly received a text from Super Shuttle welcoming me, with a link to check in, once I had retrieved my baggage. I did that, and received another notification that my driver would be assigned soon. I called from the airport phone twice: once to find out where to wait, once to check on the driver's location. After close to 90 minutes, I received another call telling me that Super Shuttle was sorry, BUT my ride was canceled and to find myself alternate transportation. By then, it was about 4:15 pm. In rush hour traffic, it took me over 2 hours more to get home, at considerable and unplanned expense, so a total of 3 1/2 hours later ( 25 miles away). This is abysmally poor service. So, I do NOT recommend Super Shuttle at all. Yes, LaGuardia is under construction, but it has been for over two years and all the other buses, shuttles, Uber, taxis, etc, are still operating, so why can't Super Shuttle? No reason. I requested a full refund of my alternate ride in writing, with receipt, because I was assured I would be reimbursed for that, if not for my inconvenience. read more

Paid $17 for the shuttle from my sister's apt which is located close to Herald Square to LGA, I was scheduled to be picked up between 3.05-3.20 am for 6pm flight. The driver picked me up at 3.15am. Good sign, I thought and the driver is also efficient and friendly. There was already 2 passengers when I got into the car. The shuttle picked up 5 more passengers at 3 different locations nearby and we reached LGA Airport at 4.10am. Pretty good but too early and the Southwest counter won't be open till 4.30am and so I waited. I will give 4 stars. However, I have a different experience with supershuttle from SF Airport to my apt which costs $17.On both occasion, I made an online booking. Upon arrival in SFO, I waited like 7 minutes for the driver and I got on the car with 1 other passenger at 12.40pm. Then we go to another terminal to pick up 1 more people. This time the driver was an old Russian guy who was taking his time, chatting like 5 minutes with another super shuttle guy outside then got into the car and write something on his paperwork while mumbling to himself and then waited,Then we picked up another person because the driver was assigned by the system to do so. So total 4 people in the car. We all live closeby and SF is a small city. I was dropped at 1.25pm at my apt. I will give 2 stars for his service. So different state and different driver do make a difference on how you will like super shuttle or not. read more

I've had an okay experience with SuperShuttle in other cities, but my NYC experience was pretty bad. First off, the driver drove like a maniac. I know this is NYC, but really I'd like to make it to the airport in one piece. Secondly, once we were at the airport he asked us if we were domestic or international and which airline. Apparently he completely tuned me out or didn't care, so he drove right by my terminal. When I realized and said something, he was completely rude and pissed off like I had done something wrong! He pretty much refused to go back around at this point, so I had to get out in the narrow passageway and walk all the way back up to the terminal.
