Not my first time on SuperShuttle, but probably the worst shuttle experience I've had. The driver was rude, pushy, and a bit sexist, not to mention he texted while he drove. The driver pulled up just at the end of the timeframe given (#813?) and pulls halfway down the block. With a few cars parked near my building, I understood, and I started to bring my bags down. The driver parked and got out, standing on the sidewalk and making not-too-subtle gestures as if I'm making him late. When I got closer (two cars away), he shouts my name, watching me visibly struggle, and smiles, nodding and waiting until I got my luggage within his arms' reach to help me at all. Still, I shrugged it off, and I passed my bags off to be loaded into the van. As he's putting my two bags, he rolls his eyes and says how heavy they are (I checked - they were at the weight limit), and then he opens the door. Now, the path between the last and penultimate rows of seats is very narrow, so, as I'm stepping in, I was almost relieved to feel my backpack removed from my back, hearing him say something to the effect of 'let me hold this for a sec so you can get in more easily'. 'Almost' accounts for the fact that, once I've turned around and am situated, he's finished weighing my bag in his hands, and he decided aloud that it was too heavy for me to have, and he's going to put it in the back whether I like it or not. I was travelling for work - my computer was in there. I watched, my heart in my throat, as he *tossed* it in the back and cheerfully walked to the front to pick up the last passenger. The rest of the passengers looked around and at me, seeming as stunned as I was. After me, one more person was picked up, which I had somewhat expected. The driver only somewhat helped her at all, which, while I understand is not mandatory, is the kind of service I would expect to be associated with such a strong demand at the end for tips. I added an extra hour to my travel time since I knew that I was travelling in a shared van, but I didn't realize how long it would take. There was one couple that was getting increasingly agitated. I learned later that they had been in the van for something close to an hour, and they were getting close to missing the suggested two hour window. Now, they were calm, and I was rather impressed by that. When we passed under the tunnel, I kept seeing a light from the front of the van out of the corner of my eye. He was texting. No, this was not the little screen that seemed to have directions attached to the center console. This was not while the traffic was so bad that we weren't moving. The van was moving, and his eyes (I could see through the rearview) were on his phone. I repeat: OUR DRIVER WAS TEXTING AND DRIVING. So, after my panic at noticing this, we were out of the tunnel, and, mercifully, he appears to have put away his phone. The ride took an hour and a half, which, given I was coming from the Upper West Side, seemed a bit long, but I hadn't been driving overmuch during this trip, so I let it slide. At the last stoplight, he asks each of us to remind him which airline we're flying with for the terminals. Once stopped, he lets everyone out, trying to insist on helping out the women, all of whom decline his pushy offer, opens the back, and, ignoring the couple saying that they need to move quickly, starts to point to passengers and unload their luggage, dropping them on the ground more often than not. Of the first three people, two reach for a bag but he drops it on the ground anyway, and he stuck out his hand each time for a tip, suddenly becoming warmer to each with the money in hand. After the third person takes their luggage and walks off, with the final couple outright glaring, the driver turns to me, gives me a look up and down, and asks which bags are mine one more time. I gesture to my bags, trying to be quick about it as they're obviously frustrated, and he moves even slower than the previous few bags. It is then that I felt this became a bit sexist. The driver looks me up and down, pausing as he unloads to take even more time. "Hey, honey, that price doesn't include a tip, ya know?" He says, continuing to hold my bag as he waits, quite obviously, for me to get my wallet out. (By this point, I've seen one person peel off a twenty.) Now, (particularly because of the texting), I had already decided his tip, but someone else beat me to it. The final couple seemed to snap as they watched him heckle me, as they walked around him, snagged their bags, and stormed off. He immediately dropped my bag (mercifully, my computer was ok), and chased after them, yelling that they couldn't do that and he deserved a tip. They seemed to be explaining that 1) yes, they could, in fact do that, and 2) he wasn't getting a tip from them for horrible service. He muttered angrily and counted his money. Ridiculous. read more

I've spent my entire morning on the phone with SuperShuttle trying to get my Mother to the airport. We made the reservation, got the confirmation number, submitted her phone number for updates and checked to make sure my building address was correct. The shuttle was due to arrive between 7:40-7:55am. Mom went down to my lobby at 7:30 to wait. When 8:15 rolled around and she was still here I called the company and was told that not only did the shuttle wait for 5 minutes, but he tried to call my Mom AND came in to speak to my doorman. A pretty large feat to accomplish without my Mom WHO WAS WAITING IN THE LOBBY noticing. While on the phone, I asked my doorman if anyone from Super Shuttle spoke to him, no he said. When the driver was quizzed on what my doorman looked like, he had no idea. Apparently, the GPS shows him waiting on the corner of 53rd and 8th before pulling ahead to 54th and 8th. All interesting considering my building is on 8th avenue between 52nd and 53rd streets. More interesting that he was waiting in front of a deli, rather than my apartment building, if he waited at all. (I'm not inclined to trust him after lying about coming into my building and speaking to my doorman and calling my Mom's phone.) After being on the phone for nearly 20 minutes, they agreed to refund my Mom's cab fare to the airport, less what I already paid for the shuttle. I appreciate this, but it's not enough. This is the fourth time I've had an issue with Super Shuttle in the four times I've used the service. I never will again. It's disappointing, as this is ostensibly a wonderful and money saving service that has caused nothing but problems for me. read more

Super Shuttle is a scary experience. When flying in to New York, I had no idea how we would get to our hotel near Times Square. A little searching online brought me to Super Shuttle. I reserved and paid online. First of all, the drive struck fear in to my heart. We were almost hit 7 or 8 times. I laughed it off and tried to calm my son down by acting like it was part of the "New York Experience". They cram so many people into the van that you can barely breathe. They also don't ask how much baggage you are going to have. We picked up several people on the way to and from our hotel that had a TON of luggage. The driver just kept shoving everything in. I was pretty uncomfortable sitting on some guy's lap that I had just met. Forget using the seat belts; there aren't enough for everyone. We got picked up really early for our flight, but the driver just kept making stops and picking up more and more people. He seemed to get 3 or more calls to pick up additional people. It took us almost 3 1/2 hours to get from Times Square to LaGuardia. Next time I go to New York, I'll research other options for transportation. read more

I haven't had any issues with SuperShuttle from and to JFK- it's typically the best value if you want to get to the airport, around $20 plus tip. You may have to wait for them to pick up or drop off other customers, but if you aren't in a huge rush it's not a big deal. You can usually find discount codes on RetailMeNot.com as well. Today I took the SuperShuttle from JFK to my hotel, there was no wait at the airport and I was dropped off after a few other drop offs. read more

Picture me with a horrified expression, hair standing on end, and a LOLcat caption: "Supershuttle..iz not so super, ackshually" Seriously I had a near death experience on the way in to NYC..actually make that several. The driver was multitasking talking on his phone while cutting off other drivers and narrowly avoiding getting creamed by a bus that did not want to give up it's last chance to get into the Lincoln Tunnel. I'm a bit of a defensive driver myself and can't remember the last time someone else's driving made me exclaim "AAAAHHH" out loud. This honor goes to Alex of Super Shuttle (at least I think that was his name-post traumatic stress disorder makes it hard to remember these things). Since I've also been sick no less than 4 times already this year, it was also harrowing to sit in the passenger seat next to him as he coughed the cough of a dying man at least 5 times a minute for the hour plus that it took to get into the city. The fact that I'm not now infected with the Rage is nothing short of a miracle and I am now a religious believer. Hallelujah. read more

Used super shuttle a few weeks ago to go to and from Newark to Manhattan. Had an early morning pick up from my place. I had selected a 5:40am slot thinking that was the beginning of the 15 minute window but found out that morning it was the end, which seems weird that they don't clearly state when you book that it's the end of the window. My bad that I didn't check the confirmation email but they showed up at 5:05am, way earlier than the actual window start time, so the car and people in it has to wait 15 minutes for me to get dressed. On that trip also we went to pick up someone else but ended up dispatch had given the wrong address. So seemed like two issues on that trip with dispatch and the driver said that issue isn't rare. On the way back, I had to wait about 80-90 minutes to get picked up which was extremely frustrating and pissed me off the most. Needless to say, most likely never going to use this service again. They need to become more reliable service and get dispatchers who can do the job right. read more

The driver called to tell us he was running late due to traffic and wouldn't be able to pick us up at the hotel, so he wanted us to walk to 48th st and 5th Avenue, so we did. We got a call asking where we are, and when we told him, he said he told us 3rd and 48th. Then he told us he wouldn't be able to wait any longer. Thankfully we were able to locate him via the tracker sent in our text message. This was our first trip to NYC and we needed to get back home on the flight we had to return to work the next day. Highly stressed and anxious because of this; an unnecessary end to our honeymoon vacation. Poor taste and unnecessary miscommunication led to this situation. We will NEVER utilize SuperShuttle again and will tell anyone traveling not to use them as well. This should not have happened. read more

wow....so, i'm like going out on a limb here giving my SS 5 stars..... don't hurt me now! glad I didn't read all these reviews before i went to cali a couple weeks ago.......... I noticed (from skimming those 1 star reviews)...I didn't see a time that people were to be picked up (early? afternoon? evening?) ...I imagine that makes a difference. Here's my piece: I have only used SS once. And I got picked up at like 5am. ....A time, I assume, that most of the other reviewers are not getting picked up at. ......SS was 15 min early (beyond the 15 min bounce time they say to allow on either end of your pickup time), but that was fine for me. The driver waited and was super pleasant and helped me with my big ole bag. There was obviously no traffic getting to EWR at 5 in the morning and there was only one other passenger who had already been picked up. So for me it was a straight shoot into the Garden State with absolutely no blips. so .......... if you are leaving manhattan at a ridiculously early time of day, super shuttle might just be the option for you! read more

I guess I got a little lucky. I used this service instead of taking a $40 cab or the Airtran from JFK to Union Square (then I hopped on my train to BK). I was the second person to be dropped off so it was cool with me for $23. In all honesty though, I'm pretty sure i'll be paying for a cab next time. read more

This is a review for the location at JFK. I reserved a shared car 72 hours before my flight and got confirmed and everything. I was happy that it was going to be only $20 to get to Times Square from the airport. I got off my flight ready to go at 6am (I had checked into super shuttle for a 5:49 arrival pick up). When I spoke to the lady at the counter she said to sit and wait and that it would be a 15-35 minute wait (cool, what a random time range). Well, I've been here for over an hour now and no car in sight. Their organization is pretty ridiculous and could be handled in a much more efficient way. Especially for someone traveling alone and meeting people, this experience has been anything but convenient for me. Great in theory but will definitely never be doing this again. read more

First time I arrived just after midnight and rang for my shuttle and was told the next shuttle wouldn't be available till 4am! I cancelled and asked for a refund which I was promptly given. Fast forward to last night when after arriving from marathon trip home I rang Lame-o shuttle and was told that it would be about two hours for the next shuttle. My pick up time was this morning at 2:55am. We finally got a call at 3:16am saying he was here. As me and my boyfriend are walking down the stairs of my apartment building with 2 suitcases taking a total of about 3 minutes, we see the shuttle leaving. My boyfriend ran down half an avenue and a block and caught him at the light. The guy said he couldn't turn around because he's been waiting since 3am. We never got a call! I called the service line and the lady told me they had no more shuttles available and he wasn't coming back. She also told me I should check my phone. I can show them my phone records, I never received anything! I filed a complaint and hope to get my money back. We took a cab to JFK instead. Do not use Super Shuttle if you want to make your flight! Super Shuttle = DEATH TRAP. I flew into LaGuardia Airport with my boyfriend last Thursday, July 16, 2009. We had booked a roundtrip voucher through Delta Vacations for the Super Shuttle. The check-in process was painless and we only had to wait 20 minutes for the shuttle arrived. So far so good. Little did we know what we were getting into... When the driver picked us up, there were already 5 people in the 11 passenger van. We got in and thought we'd be on our way to Midtown along with the other passengers; however, the driver drives like a maniac around LaGuardia obviously waiting for more pickups. He gets a call and goes back to where we were picked up to pick up an older gentleman. We thought finally we'd be on our way, but nope a few more crazy near accident laps around the airport again and we pick up 2 younger females. With the van at full capacity and 30 minutes later, the driver finally gets going. We are about 3 miles out of the airport and lo and behold, we're in an accident. Not just a fender bender, but our driver had turned into the wrong double-turn lane, side swiped an SUV, taken out a giant street light and gone up on the embankment and scraped the side of the guardrail over I-495 for a good 60+ feet. Yes, if it wasn't for the guardrail, all of us would've fallen to our death. This was no surprise given the the driver was crazy even by NYC standards. Thankfully, nobody was injured and there was a traffic agent who witnessed everything from about 100 feet away. NYPD and EMT still showed up and had to take a report from everybody. Believe it or not, the accident is not the worst part of this story... The Super Shuttle driver tried to blame the other driver and ditch us along with the other passengers. A police officer was reprimanding him and yelling at him that he could not leave us on the side of the road with all our bags. All the passengers were contemplating getting a cab together, but the police told us that a backup shuttle was being sent. About 45 minutes to an hour later outside in the hot, humid weather, another Super Shuttle supposedly comes to the rescue. Needless to say, we were all very disappointed and all very hesitant to get in. It took nearly an hour to drop everybody off because they make so many stops. It seems to me that Super Shuttle's main goal is to have a full car when leaving the airport despite where the passengers' destinations are. The only positives I can say are that a) nobody was injured and b) Super Shuttle customer service via phone is very helpful once you endure the 20 minute hold. We received an apology and a full refund without any hassle. I wish we would've read the reviews here on Yelp before booking the shuttle tickets. read more

Although we pre-booked online a week in advance, We were stranded at Newark Airport 2am on a Tuesday morning. SuperShuttle was out of shuttles and gave us two options: refund or wait 2 hours+ for a pickup. Do yourself a favor and book a regular car service. read more

The only problem was they sent us in a big circle when we disembarked from our cruise. We went across the street where we saw a super shuttle van and was told he wasn't our driver. We called the dispatcher and was told to go back to the disembarkation area.We drag our 200 lbs of luggage there and was told no pickups allowed in that restricted area.We called super shuttle back and was told we needed to go back across the street; My wife is almost 70 years old so this was not well received from either one of us. Awful service. Never again. I will chime in with my own experience at EWR. I thought the fare was great -$18 from EWR to my hotel at Time Square so I decided to give it a try. I know my plane is going to arrive at 2am which is odd hour, but I have specified that during my booking so I didn't think there will be any problem. As soon as I landed I got a text message asking me to check-in and say I will be assigned a shuttle soon, giving me the impression that my car will arrive any minute. I waited for 30 mins at the designated area but nothing shows up. Finally I called customer service and they say the next shuttle will arrive at 4am!!!! So I took a $85 taxi. They did give me a refund but I want result, not refund. If I had known earlier I probably either taken the 24 hr Sky Train or hop in a taxi as soon as I land. Take a cab. Take uber. Use public transport if you want to save money. Whatever you do don't use Supershuttle. Seriously. read more

On my previous trip to NYC I used a cab to get to my hotel and the train to get back to the airport so I have done both. Yes, the train is much cheaper but it is a pain in the ass and I never want to do it again and a cab ride is super expensive. I got the trip for $20 each way so $80.00 total for Adam and I. I was happy with the price and I would certainly pay that price again. When we got to the airport we checked in as we were supposed to and then found out that our shuttle wouldn't even leave the airport for another 45 minutes (Not what I thought). We were picked up earlier than that but then had to stop at other places in the airport to pick up even more people so we probably did leave the airport at that 45 minute later time period. It also took a long time to get to our hotel. We got to our hotel much later than I thought but it wound up being okay. When it came to our return trip, we were picked up from the hotel much earlier than we needed to be picked up but since you never know how long your ride is going to take I guess that is okay. I liked the service of the return trip much better because I got to see where exactly the van was in comparison to our hotel and have an estimated time frame that was constantly being updated. I enjoyed having the ability to pay for both the ride and the tip online. It made a lot of things easier. Our drivers were friendly and the cars were clean. I would use this service again when we come to NYC and I would suggest it to others even though there are some negatives. What I would do is tell the people I suggest this to of the negatives ahead of time. read more

Very dissatisfied with this shuttle and its service. I arrived at 6:30 am and notified the shuttle where I'm waiting about 7am. The dispatcher told me it would take about 45 min to an hour. I waited 2 hours and 30 min for the shuttle to arrive. Very unstable, definitely don't recommend this to anyone! You're way better off taking public stransportation. read more

I was very pleased with their service and their prices. They picked me up just a few minutes after my scheduled time. The doorman of my hotel told me to wait outside for the shuttle so I did and I was ready when the driver got there. But there were a few other people to pick up and the driver looked all around the hotel and even went inside in search of the customers. This was good customer service. He then went to pick up a few more people and then headed out to JFK (we came from Midtown). It was Friday late afternoon, so there was a lot of traffic, but our driver when through the side streets and got us all there right on time and with time to spare before our flights! He was also friendly, talkative...I had a very pleasant ride talking with everyone in the shuttle. All this for $15!!! What a deal...be sure to tip a very good driver! read more

I would not recommend this shuttle service in the future. Getting to Newark is a pain anyway, but when you have booked in advance online and the driver is 50 minutes late (with no contact from the service and we couldn't get ahold of anyone we were getting ever so slightly worried), the driver eventually pulls up, yells at us to get in, and we take off. There were another two passengers already in the car and you got the disgruntled I-am-very-annoyed vibe off them as well. The driver was yelling on the phone (I think to his boss) over something a lot of the way, the ride was uncomfortable due to the constant lurching, and we finally get to the airport he misses the turning and we spent another 15 minutes going around before we could finally finally be dropped off. I regret that we already had tipped through on-line payment - never again! read more

I've used SuperShuttle for the past two years because I didn't want to take the train, but didn't want to pay for a cab. At this point, though, I'm over it. It's worth it to pay $40+ in a cab by myself when I choose to hail it and to know I'm going straight to the airport. SuperShuttle picks you up whenever - sometimes early, sometimes late. The last time I used them I was hung up on by the driver because I wasn't waiting outside 5 minutes before my scheduled pick-up. I've also waited outside in the middle of winter for over 40 minutes with no explanation or apology. My ridee has been cancelled at the last minute. Drivers are constantly on the phone, talking or texting. Pick-up routes make no sense. There are endless stories like this. I only gave it more than 1 star because they will generally get you to the airport. read more

Stay away!!! The worst customer service you can imagine, they basically took my money and provided no service. It wasn't always like that - in the past I have used them several times when visiting NY, and was very happy, so I decided to do it again. After landing I used the online "check-in" feature, which was horribly broken - the directions concerning where to wait were very unclear, and the status of the car was not updated. It took me about 10 minutes to figure out where I'm supposed to wait. And I waited, and waited...all the time their so-called online service showing the car was still in terminal 1 (I was in 4). After a very long wait I called them. They kept me on hold, so I waited, and waited, and waited, until they disconnected me. So I tried again. Now they told me the driver could not find me (he was there a few minutes after I checked-in apparently, and I missed him), which means a "no-show" which means basically I lost my reservation. When I asked why they didn't call or message me, they said I have an international number so they couldn't (really ?!?!?!?). Funny they didn't have a problem taking money from my international credit card. I can go and on, but there's no point - there are so many better options, just avoid this company. read more

I hate this service. I've nearly missed my flight and they've taken me to JFK by way of LGA. It's not worth the savings to be in a van with strangers five hours before your flight. I've given them several shots and I have literally never had a good experience. Take the bus out of Grand Central instead. Update in response to the below. I appreciate the concern but I'm not going to waste my time filing a formal complaint. I will never use or recommend your service to any person I care about. One thing I forgot to mention above. One of my drivers was listening to a religious sermon while I was on my multi hour ride with him. I asked if he wouldn't mind changing the channel to music. When I got out at the airport, he yelled, "Jesus loves you!" I could be Jewish, Islamic, or Atheist...or Christian but not want to proselytized to on the way to the airport. I might not have cared so much if I wasn't late and hadn't been sitting in his discarded snack and drink containers the whole time. Train your drivers or pay for better ones. Horrible horrible service, and this only reflects on the NY chapter (like everything, it is a franchise). I purchase online for a 6 am flight and pick the 3:30-3:45 timeframe pickup in Manhattan. I get a call at MIDNIGHT that they can not get a van so will cancel me. Who calls so late in the game. Luckily, I'm in Manhattan so I let that wash over me. What p.o.ed me was that he said he will refund me (as expected). However, I get my statement and it is still charged to me, so now I have to call up and actively ask them to issue my refund. Lousy service--first for calling so late and second for not executing and reversing the charge. read more

Everyone has their own experiences, I will grant, but I've always received solid service from SuperShuttle. I just got my latest ride from Manhattan to LGA, where I am waiting to board my plane. It was easy to schedule the ride online. The driver was courteous and arrived right on time. The ride was comfortable (and very full). I was dropped right at my airlines. This morning my shuttle driver picked me up at the hotel, he saw that I had my suitcase and laptop bag. When I get to the airport, I have no suitcase...he left it on the street and argued with me that I did not have a suitcase. I called the hotel and luckily someone found my bag and turned it into the hotel. I called Super Shuttle to report the situation and was told to go online and fill out the lost item report and they would investigate it to determine what happened....REALLY??? I had to take a taxi back to the hotel and get my bag and then return back to LGA airport. $80 later I finally have my suitcase and made it to the gate 15 minutes before boarding. I have never been treated so badly in all of my life. I will use a car service from now on, cheaper overall and more reliable! read more

I hate SuperShuttle. My reservation was from 5:30-5:45am and the driver called me at 4am (yes 4 f-ing am) to TELL me he was coming 15mins early to get me. Then when he got there he called my cell and rang the bell over and over until I came downstairs. I was on time. He showed up and then called me "beautiful" and "sweetie" trying to kiss my ass because I was bugged. I was THREE hours early for my flight. On the way back (you'd think I'd have learned) my flight landed at 12:30am and I didn't get home until 3am, maybe later. The driver was extremely shady and the experience was hateful. Set my departure as Grand Central (which is huge). 1) There was no landmark indicated about where to pick up the shuttle so I called their customer service. The agent was rude and eventually said to "wait in front of the main entrance." This was in fact not where the driver intended to pick me up. When I found him he said my "phone wasn't accepting calls." 2) The driver had a sign hanging above his rearview mirror saying tips weren't included in fare. Except I distinctly remember including tip in my prepaid fare. 3) The latest time available to pick up a shuttle for a 9pm flight was 5:25pm 4) I got back to the airport shortly after 8am and called as instructed. I wasn't picked up until 9am, then had the pleasure of sitting in the van with 6 other people for 20 minutes while the ddriver tried to coax more people into coming on his shuttle to Manhattan. I'm only giving you a star because we got picked up and dropped off. It was the worst experience on a Super Shuttle! The driver had no people or verbal skills. It would've been nice to get a clarification of what was going on. We got picked up 30 minutes late at 6:20 AM and got to our destination at about 9 AM. FYI, take the subway to your destination, it's faster! Yes it was raining and yes he picked up other people, but we didn't get an apology or explanation!
