Super Shuttle = DEATH TRAP. I flew into LaGuardia Airport with my boyfriend last Thursday, July 16, 2009. We had booked a roundtrip voucher through Delta Vacations for the Super Shuttle. The check-in process was painless and we only had to wait 20 minutes for the shuttle arrived. So far so good. Little did we know what we were getting into... When the driver picked us up, there were already 5 people in the 11 passenger van. We got in and thought we'd be on our way to Midtown along with the other passengers; however, the driver drives like a maniac around LaGuardia obviously waiting for more pickups. He gets a call and goes back to where we were picked up to pick up an older gentleman. We thought finally we'd be on our way, but nope a few more crazy near accident laps around the airport again and we pick up 2 younger females. With the van at full capacity and 30 minutes later, the driver finally gets going. We are about 3 miles out of the airport and lo and behold, we're in an accident. Not just a fender bender, but our driver had turned into the wrong double-turn lane, side swiped an SUV, taken out a giant street light and gone up on the embankment and scraped the side of the guardrail over I-495 for a good 60+ feet. Yes, if it wasn't for the guardrail, all of us would've fallen to our death. This was no surprise given the the driver was crazy even by NYC standards. Thankfully, nobody was injured and there was a traffic agent who witnessed everything from about 100 feet away. NYPD and EMT still showed up and had to take a report from everybody. Believe it or not, the accident is not the worst part of this story... The Super Shuttle driver tried to blame the other driver and ditch us along with the other passengers. A police officer was reprimanding him and yelling at him that he could not leave us on the side of the road with all our bags. All the passengers were contemplating getting a cab together, but the police told us that a backup shuttle was being sent. About 45 minutes to an hour later outside in the hot, humid weather, another Super Shuttle supposedly comes to the rescue. Needless to say, we were all very disappointed and all very hesitant to get in. It took nearly an hour to drop everybody off because they make so many stops. It seems to me that Super Shuttle's main goal is to have a full car when leaving the airport despite where the passengers' destinations are. The only positives I can say are that a) nobody was injured and b) Super Shuttle customer service via phone is very helpful once you endure the 20 minute hold. We received an apology and a full refund without any hassle. I wish we would've read the reviews here on Yelp before booking the shuttle tickets. read more

Although we pre-booked online a week in advance, We were stranded at Newark Airport 2am on a Tuesday morning. SuperShuttle was out of shuttles and gave us two options: refund or wait 2 hours+ for a pickup. Do yourself a favor and book a regular car service. read more

Super great! The driver was confident but very personable. It was my first time ever in NYC so naturally I was a little terrified driving around in rush hour traffic in the rain. Despite the hectic situation he was still able to navigate well and even carry on a pleasant conversation which really helped to ease my worries. He let me know throughout the trip what was going on and where we were. Not ever having been there, that meant the world to me. My only regret is not tipping him more before hand. Awful service. Never again. I will chime in with my own experience at EWR. I thought the fare was great -$18 from EWR to my hotel at Time Square so I decided to give it a try. I know my plane is going to arrive at 2am which is odd hour, but I have specified that during my booking so I didn't think there will be any problem. As soon as I landed I got a text message asking me to check-in and say I will be assigned a shuttle soon, giving me the impression that my car will arrive any minute. I waited for 30 mins at the designated area but nothing shows up. Finally I called customer service and they say the next shuttle will arrive at 4am!!!! So I took a $85 taxi. They did give me a refund but I want result, not refund. If I had known earlier I probably either taken the 24 hr Sky Train or hop in a taxi as soon as I land. Take a cab. Take uber. Use public transport if you want to save money. Whatever you do don't use Supershuttle. Seriously. read more

Worst experience ever. If you don't mind waiting 45 mins to then sit in a van outside a terminal for another hour then this is the ride for you. Otherwise you're better off jumping in front of an NJTransit train towards NYC, at least it'll be quicker. read more

On my previous trip to NYC I used a cab to get to my hotel and the train to get back to the airport so I have done both. Yes, the train is much cheaper but it is a pain in the ass and I never want to do it again and a cab ride is super expensive. I got the trip for $20 each way so $80.00 total for Adam and I. I was happy with the price and I would certainly pay that price again. When we got to the airport we checked in as we were supposed to and then found out that our shuttle wouldn't even leave the airport for another 45 minutes (Not what I thought). We were picked up earlier than that but then had to stop at other places in the airport to pick up even more people so we probably did leave the airport at that 45 minute later time period. It also took a long time to get to our hotel. We got to our hotel much later than I thought but it wound up being okay. When it came to our return trip, we were picked up from the hotel much earlier than we needed to be picked up but since you never know how long your ride is going to take I guess that is okay. I liked the service of the return trip much better because I got to see where exactly the van was in comparison to our hotel and have an estimated time frame that was constantly being updated. I enjoyed having the ability to pay for both the ride and the tip online. It made a lot of things easier. Our drivers were friendly and the cars were clean. I would use this service again when we come to NYC and I would suggest it to others even though there are some negatives. What I would do is tell the people I suggest this to of the negatives ahead of time. read more

I take SuperShuttle in cities other than New York and Newark because it is run a bit better. But, from now on, I may defer to the $15 Newark Express plus the metro rather than deal with the shuttle in the NY metro area. Like with the one from LaGuardia, you never get picked up within the time estimated. Rather than "less than 30 minutes", it turns into 35, 40, 45... maybe even 60. Then, add on time to do pickups at every terminal and drop offs as the driver tries to figure out where everyone is going and how to get there in an efficient manner with his iPad while attending to traffic, traffic lights and general driving rules. It's a bit nuts and nerve-racking. As for pickups, I have a 50/50 split of bad and fine. Sometimes they pick you up and all is well. You get to the airport on time with your life and luggage still in tact. Other times, you call to change your pick up address, and instead of changing your current reservation (#1), they start a SECOND one (#2) and do not cancel the first. They call you to say they are outside on time. You go outside, and no one is there. You call to confirm. They are at the address for reservation #1. You clarify the situation and they say they will refund you despite saying you were supposed to specifically request a refund when you changed the pick up address (as if it's not implied). You are put on hold only to get a new operator who knows nothing, makes you use more peak time cell minutes to explain--meanwhile the clock ticks on towards your flight time with no pick up in sight. She then puts you on hold as she tries to find someone to give you a refund. A third operator answers and says it's not her department and to call a different number--the one you called in the first place... You hang up, wait a bit longer and finally get picked up by your shuttle 60 minutes late because the only option the last rep gave you was to, "take alternative transportation, but we cannot refund this trip since the 4-hour time window has passed." Forget the fact that they messed up and are significantly late... The driver apologizes, but then proceeds to drop you off LAST even though you are at the first terminal just because everyone else is at another one. I presume the reasoning is to completely piss off one person rather than seven... But, this puts you at risk for losing your flight; luckily you checked in the night before or there'd be even more hell to raise. Back home, you write a complaint to corporate instead of having another wonderful phone experience. A week later, you call SuperShuttle because you have gotten no email response, and they state that they didn't have your contact info and that's probably why they hadn't responded to you--despite the fact that they have your life's information when you make the reservation. Four weeks pass, and still no response. Finally, after another email, they agree to refund the duplicate reservation but offer no compensation for shitty hospitality. Shitty Newark SuperShuttle. Better Business Bureau complaint-worthy for sure. read more

I was very pleased with their service and their prices. They picked me up just a few minutes after my scheduled time. The doorman of my hotel told me to wait outside for the shuttle so I did and I was ready when the driver got there. But there were a few other people to pick up and the driver looked all around the hotel and even went inside in search of the customers. This was good customer service. He then went to pick up a few more people and then headed out to JFK (we came from Midtown). It was Friday late afternoon, so there was a lot of traffic, but our driver when through the side streets and got us all there right on time and with time to spare before our flights! He was also friendly, talkative...I had a very pleasant ride talking with everyone in the shuttle. All this for $15!!! What a deal...be sure to tip a very good driver! read more

I would not recommend this shuttle service in the future. Getting to Newark is a pain anyway, but when you have booked in advance online and the driver is 50 minutes late (with no contact from the service and we couldn't get ahold of anyone we were getting ever so slightly worried), the driver eventually pulls up, yells at us to get in, and we take off. There were another two passengers already in the car and you got the disgruntled I-am-very-annoyed vibe off them as well. The driver was yelling on the phone (I think to his boss) over something a lot of the way, the ride was uncomfortable due to the constant lurching, and we finally get to the airport he misses the turning and we spent another 15 minutes going around before we could finally finally be dropped off. I've used SuperShuttle for the past two years because I didn't want to take the train, but didn't want to pay for a cab. At this point, though, I'm over it. It's worth it to pay $40+ in a cab by myself when I choose to hail it and to know I'm going straight to the airport. SuperShuttle picks you up whenever - sometimes early, sometimes late. The last time I used them I was hung up on by the driver because I wasn't waiting outside 5 minutes before my scheduled pick-up. I've also waited outside in the middle of winter for over 40 minutes with no explanation or apology. My ridee has been cancelled at the last minute. Drivers are constantly on the phone, talking or texting. Pick-up routes make no sense. There are endless stories like this. I only gave it more than 1 star because they will generally get you to the airport. read more

I booked them through their APP. I checked in and took about 20 minutes for us to get our ride. I check in also through the APP. I called from the welcome center just to verify because I'm paranoid but everything was alright. The driver came to the Welcome Center and he had my name written in his iPad. We loaded the van and took our seat. Driver for van780 is very nice and courteous. I will update once my trip is finished as our van is packed! But I think it's only 2-3 stops total. read more

The Super Shuttle took me from LGA right to my building on the Upper West Side - and then, a week later, back again! There were other passengers in the van coming into NYC, but I was the first to be dropped off. On the way back, I was the only passenger. For $20, it's well worth the money! Much cheaper than a taxi, and so much quicker and easier than taking a bus to the subway to another bus or subway! You do have to allow a good deal of extra time for getting to the airport. But I'm sold! I will definitely use this in the future! read more

He first told the price is 19USD/person, but at the grand central station, he first said the card machine won't work in the area and we must either GO BACK TO THE AIRPORT or get cash at ATM. Then he finally admit we can use card but then he charged 26USD/person pretending we misheard the price and also demanding extra fee to use card. And no one else in the full bus used the station. Later we found the shuttle is reservation based, so he shouldn't offer the ride at the airport. What is worse, the company replied me that I need VAN NUMBER to request the investigation to the company. ALL THESE EVENT SUGGEST THE DRIVERS ARE SCAMMER AND THE COMPANY DOESNT TAKE ACTION. ---- I just got their automatic reply...just to pretend they took it seriously. As I wrote they just took us without reservation (so I do not have reservation number of course) and their customer center already declined my investigation request telling me I need VAN NUMBER(who remembers this?) . Horrible horrible service, and this only reflects on the NY chapter (like everything, it is a franchise). I purchase online for a 6 am flight and pick the 3:30-3:45 timeframe pickup in Manhattan. I get a call at MIDNIGHT that they can not get a van so will cancel me. Who calls so late in the game. Luckily, I'm in Manhattan so I let that wash over me. What p.o.ed me was that he said he will refund me (as expected). However, I get my statement and it is still charged to me, so now I have to call up and actively ask them to issue my refund. Lousy service--first for calling so late and second for not executing and reversing the charge. read more

Everyone has their own experiences, I will grant, but I've always received solid service from SuperShuttle. I just got my latest ride from Manhattan to LGA, where I am waiting to board my plane. It was easy to schedule the ride online. The driver was courteous and arrived right on time. The ride was comfortable (and very full). I was dropped right at my airlines. I hate SuperShuttle. My reservation was from 5:30-5:45am and the driver called me at 4am (yes 4 f-ing am) to TELL me he was coming 15mins early to get me. Then when he got there he called my cell and rang the bell over and over until I came downstairs. I was on time. He showed up and then called me "beautiful" and "sweetie" trying to kiss my ass because I was bugged. I was THREE hours early for my flight. On the way back (you'd think I'd have learned) my flight landed at 12:30am and I didn't get home until 3am, maybe later. The driver was extremely shady and the experience was hateful. Pretty bad experience. I booked round trip online on the day of my flight. Set my departure as Grand Central (which is huge). 1) There was no landmark indicated about where to pick up the shuttle so I called their customer service. The agent was rude and eventually said to "wait in front of the main entrance." This was in fact not where the driver intended to pick me up. When I found him he said my "phone wasn't accepting calls." 2) The driver had a sign hanging above his rearview mirror saying tips weren't included in fare. Except I distinctly remember including tip in my prepaid fare. 3) The latest time available to pick up a shuttle for a 9pm flight was 5:25pm 4) I got back to the airport shortly after 8am and called as instructed. I wasn't picked up until 9am, then had the pleasure of sitting in the van with 6 other people for 20 minutes while the ddriver tried to coax more people into coming on his shuttle to Manhattan. I will never use this service again - ever. I'd rather walk or take a $60 cab. read more

I'm only giving you a star because we got picked up and dropped off. It was the worst experience on a Super Shuttle! The driver had no people or verbal skills. It would've been nice to get a clarification of what was going on. We got picked up 30 minutes late at 6:20 AM and got to our destination at about 9 AM. FYI, take the subway to your destination, it's faster! Yes it was raining and yes he picked up other people, but we didn't get an apology or explanation! If I could give this place a zero I would!!! Worst experience ever. I arrived on the red eye at 6am and waited 2 hours for them to get me after several calls and vans sent and one guy just refusing to go downtown. Wtf?! You can imagine with about 1 hour of sleep how I was feeling at this point. After I finally get picked up they won't even drop me off first for the inconvenience. It then took 3 hours until I arrived at my hotel. I wasted 5 hours of a short weekend trip with this unprofessional, inefficient, and awful company. However, the shady driver tried to get over on us and tell us we didn't have a ticket because he only wanted cash customers . My guest is that he was pocketing the cash for himself. I have so much to say in this review...everyone out there who is even thinking of using this service, run away! I made a reservation for the bus to pick me up at LGA after my flight was delayed and my ride could no longer pick me up. When I arrived I called them and was told that the van would be on its way. After thirty minutes went by (now 1230a), I called again. Now I was told that it would be at least a 45 minute wait. When I asked why I was rudely informed that it was because of all the delays at the airport. Right. After waiting 45 minutes on the dot, I called again. (now 115a). The lady on the line informed me that I wasn't listed on any vans. Good thing I called again! The next van was there to pick me up within 10 mins. We now preceded to pick up other people at different terminals who were equally as pissed. One older woman said that she had also been waiting about two hours for this van to arrive. At first, the driver said that we also had to stop by JFK (excuse me???) but thank god they changed that. I then found out that I was first in line for drop off (another thank god). Then I realized that he was going a really weird way to my house. When I asked the driver where he was going he made a joke that he knew where he was going and I did not--something sexist. Once he finally brought me to my "house", I had to explain to him that he looked at my address wrong and was in the middle of no where. He said "oh, i have no idea where that is." Thank god I have a gps on my phone or we would have never gotten home. By the time I got home it was 238a. Yes, over two and a half hours after landing and I was the first drop off. As I left I wished the other people luck but I'm sure that the last drop off saw the sunrise. Never. Ever. Use. Super shuttle. read more

horrible. made reservations and this happened... pickup to airport: came 45 minutes late. took must have been an hour and a half to get there. dude took a horrible route, last pickup on e97th street he decided to go to LGA by driving DOWN to queesboro, waited probably half an hour just to get on the bridge, and then drove through basically all local streets to go there instead of taking RFK and THE HIGHWAY. that goes RIGHT TO LGA. but wait it gets worse... airport to apt: had to call their number because maybe I was tired but couldn't locate 'phone' in the lobby I was supposed to call from and got attitude when I called. was told I had to wait about 1.5 HOURS until pickup MAYBE. at midnight. what. ended up cancelling and taking the m60 bus + subway which wasn't fun but got back home before they would have even *maybe* picked me up at 1:30am. side note: used supershuttle in LA is it was waaaywayway better, they picked up on time and there was actually a supershuttle human being at the airport who arranged for a van to pick me up when I arrived. expected same service here, guess I was wrong. next time save your 15 dollars and take the subway/bus its actually faster and costs you less. read more

This is the worst service I've ever experienced. I've been on the shuttle for an hour and a half now and we still have not dropped anyone off. They act like they take people who are going to a similar location but really you drive all over manhattan and beyond. If you want to waste an extra two hours of your time then by all means, this is your company. read more

The first driver that arrived to pick us up, spoke with us and told us that he didn't room for us on the van and that we would have wait for another driver - he refused to take us to the hotel. We waited another 90 minutes for the 2nd driver who was extremely personable, helpful and pleasant. That experience was very positive and we tipped the driver well. But the experience we had with customer service on the phone was horrible. They promised a driver within 30 min the first time who arrived an hour later and left us. Then, they promised a 2nd within 20 min and we waited 90 min. After being abandoned and misled, we would definitely use a different company next time and wouldn't recommend Super Shuttle our friends and family. read more

The driver in NY of this company at night was very aggressive. This is my first time to try share shuttle. And also my first time in NY. I come to travel with my mother. Usually I used private. My route was LGA to hotel in NY. I am arrived at 20.30 and we arrived to the hotel around 22.30-23.00. He ask me to walk to the hotel because our hotel is on one way road. I don't want my mother walk at late night so I don't accept for his asking. He was very angry. After he take me to hotel. He still look at me and let me pick up my luggage bu myself. I would rate Zero stars if I could! Was picked up from Newark Airport in a van filled with nine customers. We were well on our way home when the driver turned around for customers at the airport who complained about not making our van. Turned around and went back to the airport only to find out the complaining customers wouldn't be ready for another ten to fifteen minutes, and the driver subsequently left the airport for the second time with no additional passengers! This terribly frustrating experience would have been one thing if the driver were polite and apologetic about experience, but that couldn't have been further from the case. When a passenger indicated she would no longer use Super Shuttle, the driver cavalierly responded that the service would just gain additional passengers. read more

Here's my husband's take on super shuttle and why you shouldn't ever use them. I interspersed a comment, but in general I agree 100%. So my wife and I flew out of La Guardia airport, and since she has a discount with Super Shuttle through her work, we decided to have them take us to the airport. And that was a mistake. First to the airport. We scheduled our pick-up time at 3:45pm, as our flight left at 6pm. That morning we received a call asking if can have the pick-up at 3:25pm. Awe agreed, why not being nice to them. Then at 2PM they called again. And again. Can you be ready at 2:50pm (an hour earlier than we first booked the pick-up. We could not do it, so we called them and told them so. But it didn't really matter. They said the pick-up will be at 3:25 as planned. But from 2:50 on, they called us (although we worked) and said the driver was there, waiting for us. Maybe he was, maybe he wasn't, the phone continued to ring excessively. Until we finally went on the car at 3:10. [[Also, my husband forgot to mention: I asked the driver to sit up front (I get carsick and front is always better). It was empty BTW. He said no, you can sit in the back. I said, I'd like to sit upfront. I'm pregnant. He said, no, you're pregnant so it's better for you in the back. This went on for a couple of minutes back and forth until finally I had to basically threaten him that I would throw up all over his car and he finally agreed.]] But this is not why we write this review. The way back from the airport is the one that make it abundantly clear that if you are a party of two or more, who makes more than minimum wage, you should never take Super-Shuttle from the airport. We landed in JFK and we were ready to leave JFK at 7:35PM. We called Super-Shuttle and they said a driver will be there in 15-20 minutes. So we waited. After 25 minutes we called again. "The driver should be there in less than 5 minutes." He actually was! So in 8:05 (half an hour after we could have left the airport by taxi), we boarded the car. Then, we had just to pick up one more passenger, from terminal 4. So we went there. And then one more passenger from Terminal 8. So we went there. And each time the driver stops, goes and looks for the passenger (calling them by some name, which resembles or not, their actual name) and then go back. And then, just a couple of more passengers. We played around, which terminal it would be. 2? 3? Terminal 4, in which we have already picked up one passenger, was the winner. We completed a full circle of JFK, and our game was changed to when we would leave the airport (if ever). After 30 minutes in the shuttle, that is in 8:35PM we left the airport, finally. It took us an hour to leave the airport using Super-Shuttle!!! My wife and I made the calculation that if we took the taxi when we arrived, we would have been home by that time. The way to Manhattan was free that night. We also made the calculation that a taxi from JFK cost $52, and Super-Shuttle took us $37 (not including tip, which they usually charge you for online without you even noticing). And at least an hour more. And constant circulating around the airport. So yeah, definitely, the 15 bucks we saved using Super-Shuttle, were a lousy saving. So if you are in a New York airport, take the cub, the subway, but don't take Super-Shuttle! read more

Avoid at all costs!! I have been waiting at LGA for over 1.5 hours. Customer service keeps delaying the pickup time by 20 min intervals. My reservation was made in advance online, but it seems that there is no preference for customers who have made a reservation. No compensation, refund, or even an apology has been offered by customer service. Better off taking a taxi or the subway. Will never take super shuttle again. read more

Drivers own their own vans. They pay super shuttle a monthly franchising fee. So whatever's left over, is the profit. This explains why Supershuttle service center does not care about complaints. They make money anyway from the franchise. read more

I made reservations days in advance of my flight. However, when I landed in JFK the shuttle was nowhere to be found. Super Shuttle does not have a number you can call. So you are screwed. I emailed them 5 days ago to request a refund and I am still waiting to hear back. Nonsense! This company is not reliable. Find other methods of transport. read more

I read a lot of negative comments here before booking. However, I decided to give it a shot since I was in no rush to get from the airport to the city. Honestly I was pleasantly surprised. I took the shuttle from LGA to Hells Kitchen. Everything went very smoothly and in a reasonable timeframe. My recommendation would be if your in a hurry take a personal transportation service but if you have a little extra time and want to save $$$ on your transportation, then give the Super Shuttle shared ride a try. read more

I had a round trip to go back home today and I called to cancel, the customer service woman hung up on me. Finally after many calls I got through to someone helpful. If you are still going to take a super shuttle, schedule your time for MUCH MUCH earlier. read more

What an AWFUL experience. DO NOT take super shuttle. I am still trying to dispute my charge from when they failed to pick me up from the airport even though they said a van was on its way. Their customer service is made up of useless morons who refuse to answer your questions or to transfer you to a manager. I will be flying next month and will 100% not be using their horrible service. read more

I wish it was possible to give zero stars for this service. I'm sitting waiting over an hour at JFK when I was told my shuttle would be 20-30 mins until I was picked up. When I ask why I'm still waiting I'm told that shuttles can actually come at "anytime". If you ask more than once you get a response of "just wait". What is the point in giving an estimate?? Next time I will go to the cab line and find 2 people who are going within 10 blocks of me and split the fare. read more

It is now 90 min after I landed (10AM) and we are finally leaving the airport. After checking in on-line I received an interactive real time map of where the van was. It didn't move for 50 min. I waited an hour before being picked up only to argue with the driver bc I wasn't on his list. Didn't matter that I had all the confirmation texts. So far it seems like this guy is completely clueless. Can't wait to see how long it takes me to get to my hotel. Hopefully alive. Thank God I didn't buy a return ticket.
