I am shocked at all the negative reviews. I had a 650 am flight out of Newark and after researching several options it seemed that super shuttle was a door to door service that was the least expensive. My pick up was at 345 and the driver was there promptly, had a positive attitude and was jamming to some good music. The only real downside was that I was the first pick up so it did take a while to get to the airport (got here at 5 am and was coming for the ues).. However,nI am a firm believer of you get what you pay for- if I wanted door to door service with no waiting for other passengers I would have taken a 90 dollar yellow taxi. I have used super shuttle service 3 times. I had them come to my place to pick me up at the first time. They were on time, which was good. But when I scheduled for picking up at the LGA airport. It was terrible!! I had them picked up at LGA airport twice and ended up cancel both times after waiting 1.5 hours. It's too rediculous. I don't know what's the meaning for us to schedule/reserve it online if we still have to wait for so long. Seriously!!! 1.5 hours.. If I take subway, I am already home. I have taken Super Shuttle twice recently. Manhattan to Newark Airport. I chose to take Supper Shuttle because New Jersey Transit doesn't run all night, and in both cases, I had an early morning flight from Newark Airport. The first trip it was slightly late, but on my most recent trip, Super Shuttle was an hour late -- at 3 in the morning. The driver couldn't be reached, and the customer service people I spoke to were unsure if he were actually going to show up at all. If not, I would have been stranded without an easy way to get to Newark Airport at 3am on a Sunday. Luckily the driver/van showed up, but I barely made my flight. Lesson learned. I will not use Super Shuttle again. Mainly because the customer service is shoddy at best. read more

Terrible first experience! 745pm-800pm reservation, drivers leaves msg to change pickup time to 730pm. In the cell dead zone at Javits I don't get the msg until 740pm when I step outside to meet van. Called SuperShuttle and was told the "system" said I was already on the van! Dispatch contacted driver who said that I was not there at 746pm so he left w/o me. Customer service says they can't prove where I was when I called so they "try" to get me a refund. They should try to keep their reservations and not hire drivers that are lying sacks of crap. read more

Once again I took Super Shuttle against my better judgement b/c it was significantly cheaper than a taxi or Uber. Just wanted to share my experience in case it helps other people. When you sign up for SuperShuttle, you are taking a gamble. I have use this company in many different cities. It seems highly variable the experience you get as far as what the wait might be. Here's my experience this time at JFK. Booking online is easy as always. The info is straightforward and you immediately get a confirmation. When I land at the JFK airport, it was pretty straight forward too. The instructions tell you to head down to Ground Transportation. I check in with the guy at the counter, he tells me "25 minute wait for the shuttle". OK this seems all very reasonable and expected. The shuttle gets there about 20 minutes later, so it is already better than expected at the very beginning. However, it turns out that I am the very first passenger. We then proceed to drive to multiple other terminals, with long stops at each one, picking up 10 total passengers. Yes that's 9 additional stops. The shuttle was packed completely full. It had taken over an hour (plus add on the 20 minutes, so that's over 80 minutes wait) and we were STILL at the airport. I had landed at 3:15pm, but by the time that we were finally pulling away from the airport, the traffic is bad, what can you expect on a weekday, right? I guess I just didn't expect to wait over 90 minutes and still not have left the airport. But hey, it's JFK, a big crowded airport. By the time the shuttle driver dropped off the first passenger at her hotel, it was already 3 hours AFTER I had landed. Since the driver wouldn't tell us what order we were going to be dropped off in, I couldn't risk potentially being the 10th passenger to be dropped off. At the rate we were going, it could have been another hour! The drop off of that first passenger took another 5-10 minutes b/c that person hadn't prepaid and apparently didn't have any cash and the credit card machine must have been having issues. During that wait, I decided to hop out of the shuttle (since I had a meeting to catch), tipped the driver and walked the rest of the way. It was only a mile at that point and the weather was nice. When I looked up transportation times, it looked like 30 minute drive vs slightly over an hour to take subway + bus combo. Seems like a good deal with the SuperShuttle, plus I didn't have to figure out the public transportation system. In retrospect, I would have much rather tried to figure out the subway system. I recommend you go that route unless you are carrying a lot of luggage. I only had carryon luggage and the weather was nice that day, so I really should have taken the subway. I would have gotten to the hotel in the time that it took us to just pick up the 9 other passengers and still be sitting at the airport. Of course, hindsight is always 20/20. Of course it could have been not that bad if I had been the LAST one to be picked up, since then you are eliminating 90+ minutes off of the whole wait time at the airport. On the way back to the airport, the ride picked me up slightly outside of the 15 minute window that they gave as an estimate. It was only 5 minutes beyond that window. The customer service rep was very helpful in giving me info on where the shuttle was when I called (which should be easy to figure out in this day and age with smart phones and what not). Since I was the LAST person to be picked up, we headed towards the airport at that point. Because there was some bike race that day and she shut down some of the streets, the traffic was pretty bad, but that only took a total of 60 minutes, much better than the over 3 hours it took on the way to the airport. Bottom line: if you value your time and don't want to risk potentially taking 3 hours to get home, then you should pick something else. If time is not of the essence to you and you don't mind taking that risk of having more than 3 hour commute to home for only 10 miles, then this might be a good option for you. I still gave it 3 stars because it is an ok option and you get what you pay for. I would still consider using them in the future depending on factors such as weather, time of day, how much luggage I have, who I'm traveling with, etc. read more

Could I give zero stars? Left LGA at 1:30 and I'm still in the shuttle 2 hours later. There was no rhyme or reason to how our driver dropped us off. We were in midtown, then Times Square (but not yet mine and another passengers hotel) instead of dropping us off, he took us back down to the financial district. I wanted to scream or jump from the moving vehicle. Terrible experience- never again. read more

Their concern over my bad experience and their willingness to make it right is a big plus in my book. Booked my reservation online and came to the counter where a JFK airport representative told me that I should pick up the self service phone to check in. I did and told that it would be a 30 minute wait as the driver has to make other terminal stops. Fair enough. It's an hour later. Still no driver. I just got off the phone again with a very tired sounding Super Shuttle rep who told me that my driver is about 10-20 minutes away. I'm exhausted after having flown over 24 hours. Only reason why I didn't give 5 stars, a cab cut him off and he pulled up infront of the cab, blocking him in for a minute or two and than driving really close next the same cab, almost hitting eachother, that was a bit childish but very NY style. hahaha The price is great, I would highly recommend them to my friends. read more

I have used SuperShuttle in many other cities like Austin and Washington, D.C., and have never had anything less than a wonderful, inexpensive and professional journey. However, if I could give 0 stars to NY SuperShuttle, I would! PLEASE DO NOT ever use this service. Even if you have a coupon, it is too unreliable and uncomfortable to be worth the savings. PROBLEMS: - Waited almost 3 hours for a shuttle pick up at Newark. - Confirmation email says "you can call SuperShuttle directly by dialing 29 from the courtesy phones". THEY DO NOT PICK UP. After trying multiple times, an airport Ground Transportation Agents came back from her break and helped, but again no one answered. She called from a different line behind the Welcome Desk, and the call was finally picked up. The process to just get in touch with SuperShuttle and tell them I had arrived: 1 hour. - SuperShuttle said I would be picked up in 30 min (after the phone call). ONE HOUR LATER, an airport agent called on my behalf for an update, and the driver said he was 10 minutes away. The process was repeated 30 min later, and then 30 min after that. The driver was "10 min away" for almost 1.5 HOURS. - When the driver finally arrived, he never spoke to me or even acknowledged my presence (and did not offer to assist with luggage) read more

Even with heavy traffic I was able to make JFK from SOHO on time. Be sure to give a US number or hotel number so they can contact you if they are delayed. I will use them again when I return to NYC. read more

Dirty cars unreliable and non specific for a pickup point. Don't know how to calculate airport times. Drivers drive with cellphones in hand and with excessive speed. Only reason I give a two is for the helpful dispatch service you deal with. read more

Yesterday, Friday, I used Super Shuttle from LaGuardia to Manhattan. Great text service! But slow to leave the airport! I checked in at 1:27 pm and was told it would be a 30 min. wait. It was a 40 min. wait. Then we picked up another person at another door, so it ended up being an hour from the time I checked in until we left the airport. At the bridge toll booth, we waited in a long cash line; 3 cars cut in line a ways ahead of us which slowed us down even more! SuperShuttle needs EZPass which would allow the Shuttle to skip the toll line and get us tired travelers to our destination faster! The driver was fine! I've used SuperShuttle in Baltimore where I only had a 15 min. wait until we left. And at LAX I only had a 10 min. wait. I will use it again at LaGuardia if the wait times get shorter leaving the airport and if you use EZPass for the toll! read more

First time user and last time user of SuperShuttle. It wasn't that inexpensive since I live in Suffolk county around 148 round trip. Getting to airport van was on time drove like a maniac but had more than enough time to check in. However going home told 30-40 minutes it's been over an hour and I can see the car on the map took a detour like WTH. I could have been home by now. Will not use them again!! read more

Trip from JFK to my place: 1) The driver broke my luggage which was not in perfect condition, but he broke it completely. 2) I waited OVER ONE HOUR into the car moving from terminal to terminal in an endless journey to pick up passengers before actually starting my trip home. The driver apologized more than once, saying that the Supershuttle operator was telling him to pick up passengers at the wrong terminals, basically we circled around more than once and I guess we went to Terminal 1 at least 3 times! 3) the driver located my address wrongly so that he left people on the westside before me on the east side, specifically right near the bridge he crossed coming from JFK to Manhattan). He knows it was a mistake because he apologized profusely saying that the map was not showing him my true address. I asked for a refund of the trip and Supershuttle REFUSED IT! Unbelievable! I used their sevice to JFK and regret the decision I made. The time slot I got was 5:00 - 5:15 AM, so I got out and started waiting at 4:59 AM on Tuesday morning. I got a call at 5:01 saying that my pickup was rescheduled to 5:25 AM, which was OK. It was after 5:25 AM that I got so mad. I got outside and waited and waited and waited, no van showed up and nobody called until 5:40AM. It was cold outside in New York, and my family was waiting with me to say good-bye and we were all soooo freezing outside. So, I called their 800 number and tried to talk to someone to see what was going on. There was the usual automated message saying to press one to check the status and it was supposed to direct me to someone to check the status... except that nobody picked up the phone. I called them like 10 times or so, and finally a lady picked up my call. She checked the status and said the van was on site. Huh??? Nooooooo!!!!!! The van finally arrived at my place after 2 minutes, so he was close by when he got the message, so he decided to respond he was there, which was not right. So, the van picked me up at 5:48 AM when I booked the van for 5:00 AM originally. When I asked the driver why he was so late, his reponse was so rude saying it was not his fault. I understand that it is the system that caused this craziness, but he could explain it in a better manner. A friend of mine booked this shuttle to drive us to JFK from Manhattan and after reading the reviews here, I was seriously afraid. However, the shuttle arrived only ten minutes late (totally understandable with the traffic situation here) and the driver was very considerate and did not even charge us for a piece of oversize luggage (bicycle bag). HELLISH SHUTTLE FROM JFK.... The driver was the main reason for our bad experience. He was constantly complaining that our destinations were far apart and he wasn't going to get home until 2 am. He must have complained about it 5-6 times for sure. He kept telling us, "Be prepared. This is going to be a long night. I mean a LONG night!" He complained about the company assigning him to us. He definitely was the opposite of positive customer service. Secondly, he drove so fast and was screeching around corners and gunning the engine and slamming on the brakes for lights. I was on the bench seat edge with nothing to hold onto. I grabbed the seatbelt that was attached to the top of the door and hung on for life. (I have burns on my hands from it) I was being thrown around as he erratically drove to the city. I did not feel safe at all. I have been in taxis all over the world and have had some harrowing rides, but this one takes the cake. He was mad and he was showing it in his driving. It was 11pm and I didn't want to get off in some unknown place or I would have told him to stop and let me off. We followed him on a map and the route he took was questionable. A couple of people slipped him some $$ so they got taken first. One gal changed her destination so we had to turn around and begin again on the route. My daughter and I were #8 on the drop-off route. It took us 2 1/2 hours to get to our hotel. I was so glad to get off. I vowed never to take Super Shuttle again. read more

I have used super shuttle numerous times to go to the airport. Have had one very bad driver experience, rude, and bad driving. Most of the time it's mediocre. Today I has another horrible customer service experience. They were going to be 25min late picking me up, which was cutting it way too close to check my bag at the airport. When I asked to cancel so I could find alternative arrangements they said no because I was canceling too close to the service time! Which mind you was in over 2 hours. They were rude and unappreciative of the additional travel stress they caused. I wish there was a better shuttle service in the city. read more

I have to travel to NYC several times. Supershuttle is almost always first choice if I have a flight from or to Newark airport. Service I experienced were pretty good. On time. Pick up in advance is totally acceptable. So far they were never late for my trip. However if you have to go in between rush hours, travel time will be added and it is so hard to predict. Only one time when I was disappointed. When I picked up my family from JFK. He went back and forward to every terminals until van was full, and sure we were the first. It took an hour for this process. Also driver had no idea about manhattan street. It was not fair for travelers who did not know the exact location of their hotel. Where do I start. Super Shuttle is the single most horrible ground transportation service I have ever used in my life. As someone who typically Yelps everything, I don't know why I did not Yelp this company and I regret it. I booked my reservation and prepaid online about a week before my arrival. I flew a red eye flight and was tired, arrived at 630am. Upon arriving at the airport, I followed the instructions in my email confirmation to go to the ground transportation area and use one of the courtesy phones to call Super Shuttle. I spoke to a woman who took my confirmation number and told me to just wait right in the area where I was and the driver would come in and call my name. Seems easy enough, I hang up with her and notice a guy with a Super Shuttle jacket on and see he is recruiting passengers to fill up his van. I go up to him, tell him I called and have a reservation and ask if I will be going with him. He says "oh, you called, just wait here and someone will come in and call your name". So I stand around and watch him fill up his van with people that obviously did not have reservations and watch him leave. I see another van pull up and think, "okay, this is okay, I'll be getting on this van, just wait for them to call your name". So I watch the driver come in, get Starbucks, chat it up with the ground transportation desk lady, recruit a passenger and then leave. Really? At this point, I'm pretty tired and becoming pretty agitated. I go to call them again and am on hold for about 5 minutes when I see another driver come in. I wave him over and explain I followed the instructions and have been waiting for an HOUR and watched two shuttles leave during that time. He was very understanding and nice and used his radio to contact the dispatch office. I hear the other guy say that I was a no show. Excuse me, what?! I had been waiting in the same place for an hour!! So frustrating. Anyhow, this nice driver guy pleads with the guy on the other end of the radio to get me onto another shuttle. Yes, I said he had to plead to get me the ride I had already paid for. Best the dispatcher could do was get me on a van in 15 minutes. So, I wait calmly even though I am quite upset. The guy arrives and walks in yelling my name frantically, no greeting of any sort. There is another girl that is supposed to come with me and apparently has also been waiting for over an hour. The driver and the ground transportation lady get into it because he says this other girl isn't on his list and he has only room for one more (me). The other girl was clearly upset as we packed up and drove off, understandably so. The driver didn't even try to smooth things over, it wasn't his problem, not like he is in the business of customer service or anything. The van smelled strongly of mildew. By now it's heavy rush hour traffic time, so I get to sit in mildew van for over an hour. From the time I called to arriving at my hotel, it took over THREE HOURS. Filed a complaint with their customer service and requested a refund, was given a case number and promised a return call. Surprise, surprise, no one ever followed up. This was my first visit to NYC and Super Shuttle was a shameful first impression. I can't believe the airport actually promotes people using them. It's too bad they can't clean up their act and be a respectable business. read more

I checked into my reservation at 12:19am. As I type this I am still waiting at the welcome center of jfk at 1:49am. This is incredibly rediculous that a 15-20 minute window that was given to me upon check in is now almost 2 hours wait at such an hour. I have called 29 on the service phone without any real assistance as I am still waiting. This is incredibly unreliable service, but specifically for those who have business to attend in the morning and who have been given a false waiting window. I've been using SuperShuttle for as long as 18 years. They've always come for me on time and brought me back home with no problem. I have always used the shared van and it's never been a problem for me. You have 4 different time frames to choose from for them to pick you up at your house. Last time I picked the latest time and I got to the airport 3+ hours before the plane departure time. SuperShuttle is awesome and even if you don't want the shared van, you can have him come for you by a car and only carry you(of course I wouldn't do that because it's more expensive). I have a flight to catch in December and I already have the reservation booked for supershuttle from now. read more

NOT A VALUE. You use them because you think you're saving money. But if time is money, and time in NYC is important to you, this is a bad choice. They'll tell you it will be 20 -30 minutes. That's just to get in the shuttle van. What they don't tell you is that they'll drive to all of the terminals until they have a full shuttle. That took another 20 minutes. The van I was in was not clean and had such a rattle you couldn't hear the person sitting next to you. Just my luck I was the last stop on the driver's route (someone has to be). So it took about 2 hours and 10 minutes for the entire process. I will say - everyone who works there was nice, including the driver. Thus the 2 stars. read more

Don't expect any commitment: We arrived from Mexico to Newark (New York) at 12.45 am. We had the reservation with SuperShuttle made about 1 month ago. When we get the luggage and call them, they say: "we don't have any van available at the moment. We will issue you a refund.". Just like that, no other options. The meaning was: Don't even wait for us. And no apologies. This is the kind of commitment you can wait from them. Consequence: 2 hours of public transportation to Manhattan or $90 of taxi. My hotel booked SuperShuttle to drive us from the Lower East Side to Newark-Liberty this morning, and I was a little nervous because of all the negative reviews here. However, the ride went very smoothly and we got to the airport with hours to spare. The driver was professional and helpful and I would definitely use them again. Worth it to avoid navigating the subways and trains with a full set of luggage, and much more economical than a taxi. And for everyone who says their drivers are rude and drive dangerously... this is New York. You gotta be aggressive and you can't expect everybody to wipe your nose for you every time you sneeze like they do in some other city. read more
