My favorite pizza anywhere is their Classico with artichokes, garlic and basil. Fresh and delicious. I've also had the subs and they are terrific as well, meats piled high and loads of veggies! The salads are bountiful and crisp. Often we've ordered our pizzas to bake at home and the preparation and instructions are excellent. The soda fountain is self serve, and can get a little congested during peak hours, so be patient. The space itself is a bit small, but if the weather is nice, there's lots of room outside so you can enjoy dining al fresco on the iron tables on the patio. A trip to Richmond is never complete without a stop at Superstars. It has been a stalwart in the Libbie shopping area for many years. I've never had anything but positive experiences and yummy food there. It can definitely get crowded around lunch but it is always worth the wait. I've had their pizzas and their subs. Their chips and their salads. Everything tastes deliciously fresh. I normally get the "On the Sly" which is a spicy Italian sub. BONUS points that you can also walk to the Westhampton Bakery afterward for a yummy cupcake or gingerbread man! I'll give Superstars a second shot but my first visit was disappointing. My mom's sandwich had a significant amount of gristle that she had to pull out of the sandwich because it was inedible. We got two slices of pepperoni which were good although extremely greasy, and two other slices that were good but seemed to have the toppings pull off with certain bites. I finally made it to Superstars last week as part of the Yelp International Supper Club. There were four of us and we each ordered slices, though the other options are whole pizzas and take-n-bake. I saw a lot of people picking up their pizza to take home while we were there so they must have a good following. The service was super friendly and very helpful in explaining the menu and rewards program to us. I ate a slice of All American and a slice of Pesto Panache, and both were delicious! In my opinion, the best part about the individual slices is the flavor combinations of toppings rather than the crust. The crust was just OK to me, but the toppings were perfect! My favorite was the Pesto Panache, which includes basil pesto, mushrooms, sun-dried tomatoes, feta cheese and oregano. Nearly perfect! The All American slice was also very good but needed a little more spice for me. I like that they use crumbled sausage instead of the thin slices, but either the pepperoni or the sausage need a little more heat. Other than that, I was quite happy with Superstars and will definitely come back for more, and also to try the take-n-bake. read more

First time to Superstars, a little bit of strange business model to me but seems to be doing well. You can not buy a cooked whole pizza here you order what ever size you want they make it and wrap it for you to take home and cook. You can get pizza by the slice cooked though. I went with a slice of the Screamer which basically a meat pizza it was good nothing spectacular though. They have a good selection of hot subs too. I had the on the sly which is an Italian, I did enjoy that as it was quite good. Half sub is a reasonable size for most I would think. So superstars sub yes pizza maybe. read more

Super Stars does gourmet pizzas. You can eat them by the slice in store or you can take a whole pie home and bake it in your oven. Although they describe themselves as mostly take-n-bake, I've only had the pizza by the slice there. I particularly like the "410" with homemade sundried tomato pesto, spinach, marinated artichoke hearts and Parmesan and the Pesto Panache with fresh basil, sundried tomatoes, feta and oregano. I've also grabbed a salad to go before. The salads are okay (they're sitting in a cooler, not freshly made) but the Greek dressing is to die for. After I finished my salad, I kept looking for things to dip in the glorious dressing. My only complaint about this place: I don't get why they won't make whole pies in-store. I once went with a group and we wanted to order a whole pie to eat there and they said they couldn't do it. I mean, they make whole pies, they heat slices, why can't they heat a whole pie? Their "take-n-bake" philosophy is something that, understandably, can leave some people shocked. However, this idea is so revolutionary. How to you get the freshest, best tasting pizza on your plate? Cook it yourself. Home-oven fresh is unbeatable. Just pre-heat your oven before you pick it up (have somebody home to watch it...of course) and pop it in for 13 min when you get back! Easy! My boyfriend and I decided to bring the cheeseburger pizza. Now if you order a whole pizza you have to bake it at home. Which isn't an issue for me since it will be super hot when you eat it. Now that was our first visit. But while we were there we saw they had a lot of options for sandwiches. So we came back last night. I love this place. I've started coming when I got my drivers license! Back then I always went for the whole wheat Club. Later, while in college, I worked at the Charlottesville location (closed). After a few months I'd tried everything on the menu. I found it all to be really tasty- especially the Free Willy, Veggimonster, 410 slice, and tex mex slice. Take and Bake! What a great idea! Superstars Pizza has an interesting concept for pizza, one I had not heard of prior to visiting here. You have several options at Superstars. Their whole pies are take and bake. You order a raw pizza with whatever you like on it and take it home and bake it. I suppose I should not be reviewing this place if I have never tried that avenue but whatever. I usually stop in for lunch and grab a sub or a slice of pie. You can order as many slices as you like. They will throw your requested toppings on the slice along with a bit of extra cheese, pop it in the oven and there you have it. You can also order one of their fine subs which I am particularly partial to. I love the On The Sly. I once had the "Sly" three times in one week and, no, I did not get the half sub. They have a small selection of salads that look pretty good. Also available are grab and go cookies and brownies that are delectably under cooked. A great place overall. It tends to get overrun by the stay at home West End moms and their little ones, especially in the summer months, so don't expect a quite lunch. read more

Half or whole, white or wheat, the selections get more enticing after that. The Jerry is an interesting take on the typical turkey sandwich involving a little pesto. The On the Sly is another good take on the typical Italian. The Club is awesome, and doesn't involve toothpicks or toast. Their daily/weekly special sandwiches and/or pizzas are something to consider before jumping to conclusions to a sandwich that you might want. I constantly find myself ordering a staple, then coming in and finding a sandwich on the board that sounds way better than the one I'm getting. Great pizza place in Richmond and different than all the others in the area. Their specialty pizzas are unique and delicious and with all the choices, you just can't get sick of them. Convenient if you're in the West End and they have outdoor seating so you can enjoy your slice, sandwich, or salad outside if the weather is nice. I've only tried the pizza and recommend the Virginian, So-Crates, Cheeseburger in Paradise, and Bird of Bangkok. I heard a lot of good things about this place, so I decided to give it a try for lunch one recent afternoon. I originally planned to get a slice of pizza. However, after looking at the subs and running across one in particular - The Notorious P.I.G. - I decided to get it a try. I should've stuck to the pizza. Though the sub was tasty...it didn't taste much like PORK. In fact, I'm not sure what it really tasted like, except cole slaw. Perhaps my taste buds have been spoiled by recent visits to Saucy's. At any rate, the kettle chips and soft drink I had with the sandwich were standard. The brownie, which I had as a late night snack later, wasn't bad. I may try this place once again for the pizza (given that it's part of the establishment's name) before I write off the place completely. Heck, I have a check-in deal to use! I tried Superstars out this past week with my 18 year old son. I ordered a plain cheese take-n-bake pizza and my son ordered the large 'Trucker" sub. The "Trucker" sub is made with roast beef, onions, lettuce, tomato, bacon, cheddar cheese and Superstars sauce." SUB: Tthe large Trucker sub cost $7.89. My son loved it, I really liked it. - a decent sized sub and, unless requested otherwise, is served hot and toasted. - but there was so little beef that the flavors of the vegetable items completely overshadowed any possible taste of the meat. - The flavors, including the sauces, must have all blended together nicely but I surely couldn't specifically make out the roast beef. - Even after 35 years away from the New York area, I still miss a sandwich made with LOTS of meats. On to the pizza. I ordered an all cheese medium cheese take-n-bake pizza. - The medium pizzas cost between $10.99 and $13.99. The large pizzas cost between $13.49 and $16.49 - Sauce, cheese and crust is excellent, even when cooked at home. - MY complaints: $13.49 for a basic medium pizza (only 12" in size) is incredibly expensive when you consider that you have to cook it yourself. -Their large pizza's are only 14" while most large pizzas at other "pizza" establishments are 16" The food is very good, but for pizza you have to cook for yourself, I'd rather order from a local mom and pop shop and get as good or much better pizza for less price. Based on the time we went (Thursday night) the place does pretty well. Also one customer had an Entertainment book coupon - buy one, get one free with max value of $5.00.
