This was my favorite spot while I was a student at VCU over 10 years ago and definitely made sure to stop by on my recent visit to Richmond! I got my go to dish (the capellini) and it still tasted just as amazing as I remember. Thanks for the great dinner, as always!

A wonderful restaurant! A hit every time we visit. The food is fantastic. I like how they added a screen on the side where you can order your food and take your time, or you can order at the register. The best pizza that I have ever had! The Caesar salad was crisp and fresh, the veggie sub was amazing too. Casual ambience. We will definitely be back!

Went here last night pretty late! It closes at 11 and people still come in and out late! The Pizza was pretty good I got the bbq chickens be the regular ny style! It was pretty filling and I didn't even know the pack of garlic bread was so big! It come with sauce too. They r pretty quick, u can order online and pick it up fast! It's also right next to 7/11 so I just went there and came back then my order was done! Inside is spacious too!

Delish pizza!!! Thin crust, NY style. They sell by the slice; $3.75 for a slice of cheese and 4.25 for pepperoni. Great flavor to the sauce, and the dough was crispy. I got delivery from DoorDash.

I was skeptical of this place when I walked in but the food and service ended up being great! The pizza was slightly crispy, good amount of cheese and good flavor sauce. My friend got the chicken Parm and it was BANGIN, highly recommend. Service was quick, we came at 10pm on a Wednesday.

This is the best pizza in Richmond and the Italian subs hit like ray rice. Occasionally there will be a fly on the pizza but I'm not there to see nature so I mind my business and it don't bother me. Staff is all really cool and respectful too. They get the food done quick even at night unlike Christian's pizza.

We've been looking for a GOOD pizza by the slice place for a while now. Hubby stumbled across this place one night. Don't be fooled by the pictures. The pizza is fresh, has a nice crisp to the crust. Not burnt like how they do brick oven style. They put more than enough toppings on their pizza. Let me just say I love pizza. So to find this place is a gem in Richmond. And their red velvet cake isn't too bad either... will revisit. I think this my new pizza by the slice home.

Really wanting the bomb steak and cheese and decided to give Piccola a try. Very casual restaurant. I experienced exceptional customer service. After I ordered he repeated the order to make sure everything was right. I appreciated this because, while the Steak Deluxe came with lettuce and tomato, I didn't want it but I didn't know until he repeated what it came with. The steak and cheese was excellent. So much so that the next time I want a steak and cheese I will come here to get it. While I was there I noticed people order pizza and chicken wings. Both looked tasty! Not that hungry? They sell pizza by the slice!

This was a total strike out for me. I'm so bummed too, because the photos on Yelp from others looked so much better than what I was given. I ordered their lasagna and a pepperoni pizza. I love lasagna in general and it's probably my most-ordered pasta at this point. This one came charred (see photo). Plus the cheese was so chewy I kept almost choking. I didn't find it enjoyable at all. It came with garlic bread, which wasn't bad. I also ordered a small caesar salad that came loaded with croutons, although I did like the dressing. The pizza is what I keep finding in Richmond: Bland, boring, too thick, with a weird aftertaste. It's not the first time I've had this pizza...I could smell it before I saw it. I don't like writing reviews like this, but I can't really find a positive in my experience. It just felt like such a waste of money -- $37.82 for delivery via GrubHub after applying a $3.99 free delivery promo code.

Don't waste your money it's disgusting and overpriced I don't even know how you can mozzarella sticks nasty and the Buffalo wings didn't even have sauce on them. They should definitely try changing their grease it smells bad ruined my night doesn't even deserve one star

We entered and were greeted with " do you have a reservation" in a very un-inviting tone. We both said no. If she said follow me, it was faint. We knew to follow her. I should have walked out !!! The Restaurant was practically empty !! Maybe a total of 20. We walked up a small ramp that lead us to a larger dining area where we saw a few guests. At our table standing was a youthful warm smile waiting that made us feel ok to stay. I overheard someone calling the name of the woman at the door, and they said Patricia. Our server's name was Jocelyn and she was very delightful. Our server made suggestions and explained that most of the pasta is made in house. Still observing and listening. OMG, the woman is the manager. Mam, I'm sure you will be pleased to know that we will NOT return. She walked by several times smiling and conversing warmly with other guests. This is an authentic looking and a bit dated Italian Restaurant. I'll be brief here. I had the spaghetti and meat sauce. The pasta had that obvious taste of homemade and the sauce as well. The bread was homemade with the potential to be good, if it was warm and soft, not crunchy. I had the salad packaged to go. Appetizer was fried zucchini that was golden brown, crunchy and flavorful. RVA has MANY Choices of restaurants to choose and I should've known better.

Very old school with no online reservations which is not super convenient but hey I can get behind it if they are going for an exclusive vibe. Very much an old style Italian restaurant but feels like they have really packed the tables in here - like sardines- so yeah it feels a little tight for my tastes. Service was friendly and helpful. (Making the reservation over the phone was not overly warm and fuzzy but hey I get it you probably are tired of having to take reservations over the phone all day lol). We got a popular app- the squid, white bean and arugula which was bright and flavorful so lived up to the hype but a little disappointing in that there was not a lot of squid so $18 for beans and arugula seemed a bit much. Also got the seafood bisque which was pretty tasty. For entrees we got the halibut, the monk fish fra diavolo and the spaghetti with crab meat. The spaghetti with crab meat was shockingly good. It better be for $40 but I don't always like crab bc it can be overly fishy in a not good way but this entree was very good. We also liked the halibut- nice piece of fish perfectly cooked. The MonkFish had a nice flavor, but the bones in it was a little bit overwhelming, and kinda made eating a lot of work. Seemed pricey to me since only one of us had a glass of wine and no other drinks, but I guess $50 a person sans cocktails and dessert is the new norm?!

The open layout of the kitchen allows diners to see the cooks preparing food. One can also see the patio/outside seating from the inside as it was separated by a huge glass. Our server Matt, though he did not introduce himself, was very nice and knowledgeable of the menu and gave us great recommendations. Food was great. They a great and huge selection of wine and other drinks (I did not take pictures of this wine list that had multiple pages). I was not a fan of the nonalcoholic "Is that Cashmere?" Since it had grapefruit, pomegranate, cinnamon, vanilla, and soda, I was expecting a fruity taste but the cinnamon and other ingredients overpowered the fruity notes. Polpo alla griglia was great as the grilled octopus was chewy and flavorful. I would have preferred the beans to be softer though. Stinco di Maiale was very tender braised pork shank that really went well with polenta. Pesce arrostito was roasted rockfish and black rice with fennel sausage. This was very good too with a hint of spiciness. For dessert, the bunet was fantastic. It's chocolate, almond with amaretto. Love the texture. It was light and very good. Service was fantastic. Once you've told them food restrictions, everyone serving your table will know it without asking you again. The sommelier was very nice. If you're taking out your food, you'll receive a small piece of paper like for coat checks and you can get it when you leave. They also had card and a little something for birthday celebrants (cookies with candle) which was sweet. Would definitely be back!

The weather was a balmy 72° at 6:30 PM and slightly overcast which made the patio the perfect place. A very serene setting for a sophisticated meal. I highly recommend the patio, but you need to plan way in advance. Even on a Wednesday night. And definitely get there early because parking is a bear. I don't mind the walk, but anybody with mobility challenges, might find it tough to get there on time unless they can get dropped off. For cocktails our friends got a very swanky bottle of white wine by Cinque Terre. My husband and I got mixed drinks : the Italian stallion and the ciao fantasy. Very different experiences, but both very good. The Italian stallion was complex yet refreshing and the ciao fantasy was complex and smooth. For appetizers, we got the beef tartare and the Borlatti farro verde. Again, both very different but equally delicious. The tartar obviously more a protein forward appetizer that had a smooth richness brought out by the egg and the well chopped beef. The extra sourdough was a nice touch. The Borlatti was the perfect starter for a spring evening and I actually enjoyed it more than my entrée. It has a lightness to it, but also richly satisfying, especially with the sourdough. For the entrées, we went back to our favorites from last time which was the cavatappi and the rockfish. I enjoyed the cavatappi more but I was trying to get more protein and less simple carbs so I stuck with the rock fish. This time the fish was not a great piece and had very little edible protein because of the bloodline running down the center of it, so for $38 it felt a bit stingy because I needed more of the fish than the slightly over spiced rice and sausage. Did not feel like a good choice for the evening. I did not finish and went back to my appetizer to satisfy any hunger pains left. Definitely disappointed that there was no specials for the evening and a lot of the menu seems pretty similar to the last time we were there. Also seems like fewer choices at least for the small plates. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful and again really enjoyed the atmosphere. However. Everything seems overpriced these days but even though prices haven't shifted that much at LL on this occasion, $172 after tax but before tip seemed a bit much for Richmond. Feels like everything is a few dollars over what the price point should be especially if it's not done to perfection. We will probably go back but not for a long while bc of price but also because of menu options. There are several restaurants in Church Hill that bring more bang for your buck.

At least Dinamo's is on a corner, so there are a few parking options. We managed to get a close spot, thankfully. The restaurant was bustling and buzzing with life when we stepped in. There was no hostess stand, so we hovered around the entrance awkwardly, wondering where we should be, waiting for the fast-thinking servers and bartenders to find us a spot. This is likely due to the limited seating space, and it works until your party is larger--definitely call ahead if that's the case. We were seated at a two-top in the crevice between the bar and the kitchen. The aromas of the smoke-filled room captivate us, our imaginations conjuring different dishes. We quickly received our waters, place settings, and menus, as the servers dutifully helped each other where they could. I decided on the brocoletti (noodles that look like onions) with beans, sausage, and polenta. My partner ordered the plain white pizza. We received some complimentary bread as we waited for the meal. We used the olive oil, salt, and pepper at the table to give it a little pizzazz. My dish arrived scaldingly hot, so be careful with the polenta especially. The beans and sausage were perfectly seasoned, with the brocoletti noodles taking on the flavors of the dish's other ingredients. The white pizza was punchy, the parmesan being the star of the show. The crust was soft and chewy with a bit of crisp. We boxed up half of our meals, leftovers to enjoy again later, and we opted to try the chocolate tort with the cherries and cream. The cherries should not be optional here, IMO. They take the dessert from beautiful and delicate to decadent. The chocolate tort was delicate; the cherry glaze and depitted cherries pushed my taste buds to their limit. It is a simply wonderful concoction; hence the reason for forgetting to take its photo (remnant plate and spoons pictured). Our experience at Dinamo's was fabulous from beginning to end. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a curated American/Italian menu (with some seafood specials mixed in) lovingly cultivated by the chefs. I look forward to revisiting Dinamo's in the future to explore its other specialized menu items.

We ordered a beet and fennel salad - and now, that is a salad. The beets were fresh (I've had canned beets in salads before but this was fresh), and the fennel was crunch, mild, and texturely satisfying in contrast with the soft beets, the dressing was well coated but not drenching the salad. Could have eaten the salad all day but then the entrees came: Squid ink fettuccine with calamari and shrimp -- it was so fresh I could not eat it for a few minutes, massive entree, fettuccine tasted like it was made in house, so flavorful and rich Sausage with polenta -- my first time trying polenta in solid form, tastes a bit like if rice and corn combined, crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, sausage was good too Also the complimentary bread was excellent, crunchy exterior soft interior, especially dipped in the pasta sauce Recommendations: making a reservation (you have to call), we made the mistake of assuming it being a cold rainy Sunday, we could do a walk in at the bar, but ended up walking in the rain for about an hour - well worth the wait Affordability: ~$25-30/entree Ambiance: it's pretty small and easy to bump into people on accident, but very cozy ambiance with deep red color theme Service: great, no issues!
