I originally called the restaurant to make a weekend reservation for a party of 11 at their opening time, 11am. I was helped by a sweet lady who said she did not have authorization to make a reservation for a larger party, but she would have her manager plug it in and call me back later to confirm it's set. I never received a callback. The second time I called was the next morning to confirm my reservation was set, as I didn't receive a callback as promised. A gentleman helped me who I assumed to be a manager (though he did not say). He mentioned SEVERAL times they prefer not to book larger parties during their busier hours like 11am, and overall seemed very hesitant to input my reservation because of this. But he confirmed he was able to input my reservation anyway. The third time I called was the day before our set reservation. Several of our party was sick so very unfortunately, I had to cancel it. The lady helping me was friendly. However, she could not find a trace of our reservation in the system, which leads me to believe it was never actually input. If we had shown up at our set time, we might have been in for a bad time. Additionally, I'd like to point out that she mentioned they DID have other reservations for large parties of like 10 and 19, at the same time. So I'm really not sure why I was repeatedly told they don't like to book large parties at this time. Overall my experience with reservations alone has been really disappointing, and it discourages me from trying again. The Shanghai scallion noodles was good but tiny portion. And the rest was not so good. The crab and pork bao has a strange taste that I don't like, the Szechuan bao was very spicy and that's all you can taste. Many of them came of already broken, leaking. The beef and pork flatter has 1/3 tofu, which the platter was not named after, and the pork was too fat not well marinated, only the beef was acceptable. The service of ok, but they might have hired too many servers that 3 of them just stand next to our table joking and laughing most of time, disturbing. Wow -- I finally got to try this place after the mad rush of the grand opening. We ordered the pork xiao long bao (soup dumplings), the black truffle and chicken xiao long bao, braised beef noodle soup, Shanghai scallion oil noodle, spicy cucumber salad, and mushroom garlic broccolini. Wow. Lots of foods and lots of flavors. We were absolutely stuffed, but at the last minute we decided to try the matcha lava xiao long bao for dessert. Everything tasted great, and the restaurant has such a light and open atmosphere. Very open and modern and inviting. Our server, Lily, was very knowledgeable about the menu and had answers to all our questions. She had plenty of recommendations and was very kind. It was hard to get a reservation in the first few weeks after they opened. I was able to get a reservation a week out simply by going to the restaurant in person to make a reservation for the next week. The ambiance is quite nice and there's a big window where you can see the workers making the dumplings. But if that was to give us reassurance that each dumpling was the same size...then umm...not quite. As you can see in my dumplings picture later. The staff think are still learning so they are unsure what's on the menu. And didn't even offer us a kids menu until we saw it from another table and asked for it. One of those mantao buns costed $4!!!! When we looked at the menu I would say 80% of the items weren't available. We could only order their regular pork and vegetarian ones since we don't like spicy. The pork from the dumplings tasted a bit sweet to me. Skin was thin enough but each one was just a tad different in size. The shrimp wonton noodle soup - I could only taste pepper in the fillings. The soup and noodles were pretty bland. The pineapple fried rice - very nicely presented and I could taste a hit of curry in it. They also added pork some pork floss on top to give it a bit of a texture. Very few pineapples. The garlic cabbage - not anything special and tasted like what I could make at home. I am not convinced that this is actually Taiwanese cabbage as it doesn't really have the sweetness. The Shanghainese scallion oil noodles - was probably one of the better dishes in terms of flavor. You mix it all together but it was a bit salty and also a tad sweet in my opinion. The pork chop noodles - the pork chop was well fried but it seemed a tad burned? But it was also paired with the bland soup noodles again. The dessert dumpling - it felt like the dumpling wasn't fully steamed and tasted starchy. I highly recommend making reservations to dine. The walk in wait was over 2 hours. Good thing it's located at Ala Moana Shopping Center, lots of options to occupy our time. The hosted texted us to make out way back when a bar top counter seating was available. Very cute, there were lots of fake plants hanging on the ceiling and walls that gave a very nice ambiance. The dumplings arrived very quickly, the shrimp was my favorite. This was my first time trying a soup dumpling and was advised to bite the dumpling over a spoon to collect the juice. Overall I really enjoyed the dumplings. Next time I would skip the beef, it tasted like it was from pandas express. Nothing special there. They're definitely still settling in. I sat down at 2pm on a Wednesday and they were out of the Wagyu Beef XLB, Beef Mushroom Roll, Stir-Fry String Beans, Matcha XLB, and the Onyx Golden Lava Custard Buns. The only downside to the inside of the restaurant were the bathrooms, they were very dirty and missing toilet seat covers in both stalls. We ended up only getting 2 items, one being the Supreme Pork XLB... that was very underwhelming in my opinion. The other being the Mini Pan-Fried Pork Dumplings, now that's something i'd definitely come back for. Not gonna lie, we really wanted to love Supreme Dumplings, but it fell short of our expectations. We had a party of 9 (mostly kids), and getting a reservation was very difficult. To make matters worse, many of their specialty items were sold out, so we couldn't even try the dishes we originally came for. The portions were also quite small, and we had to order multiples of each dish just to feel satisfied. In fact, the kids asked for McDonald's right after! I'd definitely be willing to give it another try if they could improve the availability of their specialty items and offer more generous portions. Supreme Dumplings is a national Chinese restaurant chain specializing in their numerous types of Xiao Long Bao (XLB) dumplings. These are delicate, soup-filled dumplings that are difficult to make and equally satisfying to eat. Like any new restaurant that opens in Oahu, they were inundated with people wanting to try this place, therefore they only accepted reservations for those wanting to dine in. My friends and I were new to this franchise so we were excited to try their XLB assortment, spicy szehuan pork dumplings, and Tan Tan noodles. My favorite was their noodles actually (4/5) ; I think I've recently become more obsessed with tan tan style noodles and their rendition had a solid creamy peanut soup base with a spicy kick that made it really good. Their spicy pork dumplings were solid (4/5), and their XLB assortment (3.5/5) was a good way to sample their different dumplings. The wagyu and black truffle/chicken XLB was my favorite out of all of them, and probably would just order those next time. Overall, if you had Din Tai Fung (DTF) before, it has a similar vibe, at a cheaper price point. I think because of that, I think the food quality might not be equivalent BUT I thought the average $30/person was way more "worth it" compared to the DTF experience. This place is super busy and walk-ins are 2 hours plus, so reserving via Yelp is highly recommended. Maybe it's the high expectations or the elegant decor and restaurant design, expected more. The food is not bad but yet, no wow factor. The signature dumplings came in piping hot which is good, presentation is excellent. The soup was not as much as the elite places went to and nothing special. At least you won't miss out on the excess soup that spills out if your chopstick skills are not great. The truffle and spicy ones stand out. Dan dan noodles was favored well, but a little too much peanut butter taste which overwhelms the dish. Was this the right type of noodles, shouldn't wheat noodles be used? Small portion, treat this like an app. The won ton noodles is definitely not Hong Kong style. Where's the shrimp? I've gone twice now, on a Friday and Saturday night, and it was surprisingly not too difficult to get seated without a reservation. Definitely not unreasonable if you're expecting a long wait and have some shopping to do in the meantime! The staff were very welcoming and kindly explained their favorite dishes, as well as those that were sold out (which, compared to others' reviews, weren't that many). Dishes I tried: Tan Tan Noodles: Always my favorite dish, and theirs didn't disappoint! Very nutty and flavorful! Just wish the portion was a little bigger for the price. Xiao Long Bao (Chicken and Pork/Shrimp): Good! Just wish there was more soup inside. Still need to try the signature pork one! Beef Rolls: Ordered this because our waiter recommended it, and I loved it! The texture of the soft meat and flaky roll was amazing! But when I got it the second time, it was a little too oily and the texture wasn't as good, as if it were sitting on the counter a bit too long. Still tasted great though! Had a great experience at Supreme Dumpling! I didn't make a reservation, and I was told the wait would be around 30 minutes, but I ended up waiting only about 10 minutes. I sat at the bar, which was a great spot. Eric was my server and was incredibly helpful and friendly. He answered all my questions and consistently made sure everything was going well. I also noticed Jazzy taking great care of other guests and making sure everyone was having a good experience. The whole staff seemed attentive and welcoming. The restaurant is new, so everything feels clean, modern, and very aesthetic. There's also plenty of parking at the mall, which is a huge plus. Food-wise, the lychee lemonade was super refreshing, and the Supreme Pork Xiao Long Bao were delicious. I was a little bummed that the assorted Xiao Long Bao wasn't available, because I really wanted to try a variety of flavors. But the standout for me was definitely the pork chop fried rice. It was SOOOO good! The pork chop was perfectly seasoned, crispy on the outside but still tender, and the fried rice paired perfectly with it. Dumpling were all pretty great, though beware of the spicy soup dumplings (in the assortment), they are definitely way spicier than I expected. One thing I HAVE to say is, the pork chop fried rice was WOW! The rice itself was decent, but the pork chop??? They didn't skimp on the portion and it was SO soft. Like I don't think I've ever had a pork chop that tender. Delicious. The dessert matcha dumplings were decent, when you eat it, it instantly coats your mouth and feels slightly overwhelming. My family especially liked their pork chop fried rice. The waitress suggested we order dessert items early because they run out very quickly. This was fine and we did this, however I don't exactly want to eat my chocolate xlb with my pork ones..... so this led to us leaving the chocolate xlb on the side until we were done with dinner. Meaning, they'd be room temp. Partially my fault, but it really wasn't as good because of this. I don't always want to eat my desserts first lol. I also think that personally, I prefer the deep, darker chocolate flavor from Din Tai Fung. This one was more like milk chocolate. They were out of other desserts before we were even halfway into dinner service. Mega bummer! According to our waitress this happens pretty much every day. I think at that point it might be time to increase the quantity. I tried to walk in during lunch-ish (around 10:30,11am) more recently, and was told there was an hour wait. It didn't look particularly busy so I didn't really understand, but I guess that means I'll have to make another reservation one to two months ahead lmao. It's a bit ridiculous. Additionally, the price point compared to the amount of food is a bit higher than I expected, especially when you're feeding 5-6 people. Maybe I won't make another reservation. Finally got to try it. I think the xlb are solid. The other stuff I thought they were good but not amazing such as the Dan Dan noodles, pan fried dumplings (too small), mochi (too soft). We tried 2 types of xlb - one shrimp one crab. The shrimp was just the regular pork xlb with a piece of shrimp on top so nothing much was different from the regular flavor. However, their crab and pork xlb were amazing! I would totally go back for that. Their xlb was also done well with thin chewy skin, juicy and meaty filling. The skin also held the filling well, not easy to fall apart. I was a little disappointed that they ran out of chocolate xlb when I went there. It's one of the items I really looked forward to. Still have yet to try it and see how it compares to DTF. Our server was friendly but was a bit forgetful, bringing us the wrong items and not bringing us what we asked for. Hopefully as time goes on everything will be smoother. The decor was modern, well-lit, and the chairs were comfy. Some tables were spaced a bit too close together. Would be nice to have just a bit more space for a conversation without much distraction from other chatter. I'll be honest--the dumplings and dumpling soup were a little disappointing for me. I was expecting more sauce, seasoning, and overall flavor. The Xiao Long Bao and Shrimp & Pork Wonton Soup were pretty mild, so I found myself wanting more flavor in each bite. They do provide soy sauce, vinegar, and chili oil on the side, which definitely helps, but I was hoping the dumplings and soup would have more flavor on their own. The Honey Walnut Shrimp was another one that didn't quite meet my expectations. There wasn't enough sauce, and it didn't have the burst of flavor I was hoping for. The Supreme Tan Tan Noodles were definitely the highlight for me! They have a slight spice, but not too hot in my opinion. My daughter seemed to really enjoy the Tan Tan Noodles too! One small thing I noticed was that the water was warm. I personally prefer my water ice cold, especially when having a meal, so having chilled or ice-cold water would have been much better. We had to try this new place but reservations were full, so we were able to put ourselves on the waitlist and ended up waiting around 40 minutes, which wasn't too bad since you can walk around the mall while you wait. We wanted to try the XLB assortment, but they said that they didn't have the black truffle chicken one, so they could replace it with the vegetarian. It was kind of strange since there were other types with meat that they could have replaced it with, but they said it was the only substitution, so we didn't end up going with that since it would be the same price for a meatless option... we got the spicy and crab XLBs and they were both pretty tasty. After three months of challenging yet fun physical therapy following my recent knee replacement, I made a lunch reservation at the newly opened Supreme Dumplings through my trusty Yelp app. Luckily, I was able to make a same-day reservation after my last physical therapy session, and we excitedly waited in line outside the restaurant for only a few minutes with several other groups before being seated by the lovely and friendly hostess. Within a few moments after being seated, Abby approached us and introduced herself as our server. We explained that this was our first visit to their nicely appointed restaurant and were eager to experience their Shanghai-style and Taiwanese-inspired cuisine. But since we were feeling a bit parched, we ordered two Sunshine Lemonades ($5.50 ea) to quench our thirst, as she recommended for the balanced sweet-yet-tart flavors. She then directed our attention to their noteworthy pork-filled Xiao Long Bao ($13) and recommended the Shanghai Scallion Oil Noodles ($10.50). We added a table favorite, Szechuan Chili Oil Chicken ($14). We rounded out our meal with vegetable-forward dishes such as a plate of Mini Pan-Fried Chive Pies ($9.50) and Mushroom Garlic Broccolini ($12). FOOD: -Szechuan Chili Oil Chicken 經典川味口水雞: We were drawn to this dish by its Chinese menu description "Classic Sichuan-style Saliva Chicken" that is usually noted for its poached, tender chicken and bold, spicy, mouth-numbing red oil sauce and crunchy crushed peanuts. Of course, we anticipated this Sichuan (Szechuan) chili oil sauce to be somewhat Westernized or less mouth-numbing than its authentic flavors and spice level. The crisp pan-fried wrapper enhanced the flavors and textures of these dumplings. $9.50/6 pieces -Mushroom Garlic Broccolini: We're fans of broccolini or Chinese broccoli (gai lan/kai lan) for its tender, crisp texture, and its slightly sweet, earthy flavor. The properly cooked broccolini gave us the flavors and mouthfeel of broccoli, asparagus, and kale. Also, the tender stir-fried garlic cloves added a mild-sweetness and spiciness to this vegetable dish. $12 -Shanghai Scallion Oil Noodles: Abby recommended we try this rice noodle dish after we asked about portion size and variety of flavors, even though it was just the two of us at dining. It was a wonderful suggestion since the rice noodles were light, bouncy, and smooth, and flavored well with house-made scallion-infused oil. Hot and new dumpling restaurant here in Honolulu! Located on the mall level, nearby Shabuya and Longs Drugs/CVS drug store. Address: 1450 Ala Moana Blvd, Ste 2500, Honolulu, HI 96814 Place your reservations on Yelp! Generally, free parking in the Ala Moana Center Mall Level. Caveat: some parking spaces may have charges, look for signs posted in the area. Background: Supreme Dumpling (SD) originated in Bellevue, Washington. SD specializes in handmade xiao long bao, or soup dumplings. According to SD's website, Xiao Long Bao ( 小籠包 ) means "little dumpling in a basket". This form of steam cooking dumplings in a bamboo basket can be traced back to China's Song Dynasty, which is more than a thousand years ago. Through years of perfection by different regions in China, the Xiao Long Bao was born. No reservations. I have attempted in the past to walk in without a reservation here. Fair warning, it's possible, however, prepare to wait for a lengthy time. Fortunately, today we tried a walk in around 2 pm. Our wait time was 45 minutes! We said yes! Service here was 5 stars. Our server Chase asked if this was our first time at SD. Chase explained the menu and flavors of the soup dumplings. He suggested, and we ordered, the Signature XLB Assortment ($20). We also selected the Stir Fry String Green Beans with garlic ($18); and for dessert, we chose the Onyx Golden Lava Custard Bun ($11.50). The Signature XLB Assortment has a little bit of everything, which includes Supreme spicy pork, chicken, wagyu beef, vegetarian, and crab and pork filled dumplings. The stir fry string beans included thinly sliced carrots, baby mushrooms and lots of garlic. This dish was too salty for my taste buds. 3/5 stars. Chase put in our order of the lava custard buns after we finished our meal. He made sure the custard buns were hot and fresh. Water is served without ice unless you request ice. We requested ice. The dumpling breakdown: Vegetarian dumpling had no soup. Soaked up the soup? Dumpling was completely stuffed and had a strong green vegetable taste. 3/5 stars. Chicken dumpling is the most flavorful and my favorite. Comforting chicken broth with chicken filling. I wanted more of this one. 5/5 stars. Wagyu beef was unremarkable. Not much flavor to the overcooked Wagyu beef. This one squirted out its contents lol. It made a mess on the table. lol. 3/5 stars. Supreme Spicy Pork won ton was just that! Spicy! Went during soft opening and staff had their upselling and customer service down. All great. Menu is familiar for a 2nd generation Chinese, so we decided to order all the popular items. Their xlb are tiny compared to what we're familiar with. But we love that the black vinegar is on the table so we can use as much as we want. Their lava buns were delicious but everything else we tried were just ok. Not sure if waiting over an hour was worth it. We also did take out on lots of the food - did not hold up well unfortunately. We finally tried this place for dinner! First impression is that the menu and concept definitely remind us a lot of Din Tai Fung. We got the Signature XLB Assortment, which we honestly didn't really like any of the choices from, so it was good that we got the platter to try a little of everything and know now. We thought those flavors were really just meant to be "something fun and different," but we don't think they work particularly well or are all that delicious for soup dumplings. I liked the original pork XLB the most, and the soup itself tasted good! Though, we both felt like there was more wrapper than meat, and we felt like we were just eating the wrapper. They are more soupy/juicier, though. We also got the Mini Chive Pies and Mini Pan-Fried Dumplings. I usually like pan-fried buns/dumplings, but they're really mini lol, like bite-sized. The Supreme Spicy Pork Wonton was just okay. It's not your traditional/HK-style wonton with the texture or filling flavor we're used to. The spicy sauce was also more watery/thin than we'd like, and the spice didn't quite deliver for us. We really liked the Pork Chop Fried Rice, Chocolate XLB, and Garlic Green Beans! The pork chop was crispy, tender, had good flavor, and 100% better than DTF's. The Chocolate XLB was the perfect dessert, though we did have to wait a bit for it to be made (maybe 10-15 minutes?), so just keep that in mind if you're ordering it at the end of your meal. The Garlic Green Beans were a good stir-fry, though we don't think they're worth $18. I would also say that these are more Taiwanese-style XLBs and not quite like authentic Shanghai-style XLBs, as they are listed on Yelp, since the broth is lighter and the overall pork flavors and wrapper texture are very different. This was my first time trying Supreme Dumplings, I was comparing everything I was eating with things I'd eat at din tai Fung I'm so glad this place opened up here I love every kind of dumpling and xiao long bao and wonton! I love their sauce on all the dumplings I ate; Making sure to place the dumpling on my soup spoon with some sauce already on the spoon, bite a tiny hole on the top of my dumpling to so that I could put more sauce using a different spoon into the hole of the dumpling And so when I place the dumpling into my mouth it would be a nice explosion of dumpling, soup and sauce all happening in my mouth! Lol I enjoyed that scallion oil noodle dish I felt like i needed like some friend chicken wings on the side I did try the fried pork tonkotsu with fried rice which was tasty The assortment of dumplings was interesting and included 2 really spicy dumplings, 2 crab, 2 truffle mushroom, 2 chicken, 2 wagyu We also got the pork wontons which were good and wagyu dumplings And we finished it off with the yummy chocolate xiao long bao; it was pretty dry on the outside and perhaps they can give whipped cream on the side with it read more

Supreme dumplings has gotten a lot of hype recently, but after trying it, we thought it was just okay. Because of delays in shipments they were out of a lot of items, but most of what we wanted was available so we didn't really mind. Overall, the dumplings were nothing special. We also ordered a lot of vegetables, and the cucumbers were good, but the others weren't very flavorful (and all had carrots included?) There are other amazing Chinese food and dumpling places in town, so we'd probably go to one of the others instead. Although the food was just okay, the service here was excellent. Our server was very apologetic about things being out of stock and took great care of us throughout the meal! When we arrived for our reservation they didnt have our table ready and told us we needed to wait an extra 10 minutes pass our reservation time to get seated. Lily was our server today and and she was very friendly and knew her menu well. She explained the menu to us since it was our first time. There is lots of variety on the menu. They have a promo right now if you write a review you can get spicy cucumbers for $0.99. The spicy cucumbers had a very thick outer skin but a nice crunch and a kick of spicy. The tantan noodles were yummy! Nice balance of spicy and nutty flavor. My favorite thing we ordered. Green beans were just regular green beans and veggies. Spicy wonton had a nice big piece or shrimp inside with a good kick of spicy. Shrimp and pork xlb was expecting it to be more rich but altogether was nice and flavorful, my second favorite thing we ordered. Shrimp and pork wonton noodle soup was very plain. Really clean flavor for kids. Beef roll was okay. There was a good amount of meat. Imperial braised beef bun was goodn nice crispy outer layer and very filled. The meat was also nice tender. Chocolate xlb was nice and rich, very good and warm and filled! Be careful not to squeeze too much or it will ooze everywhere. Overall, it was a nice experience and food was good.
