A wide variety of food to select from as well as some already pre-packed. They offer Manapuas, assortment of dim sum. And plate lunches too. They are known for their crispy chicken with ginger sauce. Today I got the usual steamed Manapua, half moon and layer rice cake. I did not care for the Manapua and half moon. The Manapua bread is soft but the filling is in the sweet side and I didn't like the taste of the half moon. The rice cake was great! read more

They super busy when we went but the lady running the front and taking orders handled it like a champ with her fast and friendly service. Everything we tried was Ono. I of course had to get the fried ginger chicken with fried rice. But I never eat the manapua till later in the day, so I warmed it up maybe for 30-45 seconds but the bread seems tough and I had a bone and hard piece of cartilage or something (see pictures) Also got gau gee, lok funn, steamed manapua, pork hash and wife got the chow mein noodles. read more

Stopped in here for the first time this afternoon to get some comfort food for a family member! The young lady who helped me was welcoming, quick, and engaging. We got 3 baked char siu manapua, 1 steamed black bean manapua, 3 pork hash, and 3 half moon! Very satisfying and delicious! They also offer many tempting meals beyond the manapua scope such as ginger fried chicken which will be my next try in a future visit. Also side note, I love the design of their take out box! I had friends who lives just a few doors down and have been here on a regular basis in the past and it's been just way too long since my last visit here and Island Manapua Factory is located right on Gulick just a few doors down from Kalihi Medical Building which is the bright blue/greenish color and since I fast from my lab test what better time to visit than today. They do have a few dedicated parking stalls which is very convenient for this area as they do have the local beloved grab and go dim sum favorites they also do plate lunches as I picked up a chow funn which is made to order so it did take about five minutes to make and is a generous portion easily enough to feed 3-4 is topped with lots of char siu wasn't something that I expected. The staff there is very persistence and witnessed it over several guests trying her best to sell more than they realized (myself guilty) as it's all delicious but does add up to more than I need as pleasant as she is it's quite pushy as during majority of my wait time she still tried to sell me their sweet & sour ribs going to as for to giving me a sample which was very delicious but wasn't necessary as the vibe was quite intense but did leave with more than enough. Amazing dim sum to go! Aunty Elaine is the best. Super friendly yay. I stopped by on Thursday, 1/8/26 at around noon with a friend, and as a repeat customer, Island Manapua Factory continues to be my go-to spot for dim sum. I've been coming here for the past 7 years, and the quality and service has always been consistent. Aunty Elaine at the front of the counter is so inviting. She's always smiling, welcoming, and provides great service. She's remembered me throughout the years and greets me warmly every time, which makes the experience even better. The food is always excellent. I always order the steamed manapua, and it never disappoints. The buns are soft and pillowy, and the char siu filling is sweet, savory, and generously portioned. The baked manapua is also a must-try that I always get--soft buns with flavorful char siu and bits of chopped onion inside, which gives it a unique touch. The pork hash, half moon, and shrimp dumplings are steamed to perfection and packed with flavor. These are my regular go-to items. On this visit, I added the sweet and sour spare ribs, and they were fantastic--perfectly balanced in flavor, tender, and melt-in-your-mouth soft. Their duck is also very flavorful, though I didn't order it this time; it's another favorite of mine when I visit. My friend ordered the pork hash, half moon, and shrimp dumplings and really enjoyed everything. She also appreciated Aunty Elaine's hospitality and said she'll definitely be coming back. She was happy that I introduced her to Island Manapua today. Island Manapua Factory remains a place I'll continue to visit regularly. Takeout lunch from Kalihi, Honolulu, Hawaii... I was aware of the Island Manapua Factory in Manoa, but I didn't realize that there was one in Kalihi! It's on the same street as Nanding's Bakery! This is a very basic, straightforward place. The menus are all posted. What you see is what you get. Example: the male worker said I couldn't have one of each bao bun. The female said she would make them for me. She also said, "I give you extra dressing" (for the duck salad), and she showed me a container. She was trying hard to get me to return... LOL! She said they were here for a long time - when I told her that this was my first visit. I got a lot of variety. I thought they only had manapua, but no... there's more selection! Manapua - I got steamed and baked. The baked one looked like chicken, but i was too full to try it. I had the cha siu steamed manapua which was better than I expected. My mom liked it, too! There was a lot of tasty filling! Rice cakes - brown and white. The white seemed a bit crumbly and not as sticky as some other places. I liked the brown one better. Duck Salad - yummy! Both dressings were good! The light orange one had a slight kick. Bao Buns - they seemd to all have hoi sin dressing on them. The cha siu and duck were quite good. The chicken was my least favorite. The roast pork had crispy skin! Cha siu look funn rolls - okay. I had better. My sister liked them! Ma tai su - it had a pickled filling that was odd to me. I'll pass next time. So, stumbled upon here, to find them open before 6AM, thought we try somewhere new, plus was open early, and we were in kalihi, so was convenient for us. Aunty was super nice. I needed food for potluck, so came here to try their Porkhash, for the first time. Ordered 2 dozen half for the office, wife took the other six for 3 dozen total. I ordered 1 steam charsiu, wife ordered 2 plus an order of 4 pcs Peking duck bao bun. Total for everything, came out to $102. Location is in kalihi, on Gulick, by nandings. Aunty is a really good salesperson too lol she's persuasive lol. Unfortunately, the taste of the food to us, wasn't good. I'm so sorry Island Manapua Factory, but the pork hash, to me left like a weird taste in my mouth, and the texture was weird too, like the pork part. Like was kind of chunky, like the meat wasn't mixed good or something. The Peking duck, was a little too sweet. The wife pulled something out of her mouth, a small piece of something, like a feather, and got turned off, and the meat in the manapua, I didn't like it. So sorry island manapua factory. I mean, she was nice, and they do have a variety of dim sum kine stuff and plate lunches, Chinese food. I had been trying different locations because of the TikTok hype surrounding their chicken katsu/fried chicken with ginger sauce, and this spot absolutely delivered. It's hard to find old school taste nowadays of manapua char siu. Most manapuas I had was either way to sweet or just doesn't do it for me. When I went here Island manapua ordered manapua char siu it brought back the old school taste that I . They have also have other delicious and variety of manapuas. Dim sum and love that rice cakes. Just found out that my favorite manapua spot is closing, and they're still figuring out where to relocate. So I went on the hunt for a new place nearby and decided to finally try Island Manapua Factory; I've heard about them for a while. We went a little before 2 PM (they close at 4 PM) and maybe that timing had something to do with it, but unfortunately, the food didn't taste fresh when I got home. I picked up a baked manapua, a steamed manapua, layered rice cake, pork hash, and a half moon. Only the baked manapua wasn't in the steamer, so I expected everything else to still be hot; but it wasn't. The baked manapua filling was cold and had a pasty texture, like it had been sitting out too long. The steamed one was a bit hard, the pork hash was tough, the half moon wasn't great, and the rice cake tasted old. I really wanted to like this place, and maybe I'll give it another try; just earlier in the day. But honestly, food should taste fresh no matter what time you go. read more
