Restaurant was not too crowded and the parties were on the other side. My sister had a pre-planned menu. So far so good right. Then we were told the room had a minimum order amount of $400. Unfortunately, our food came out luke warm and if there's one thing I hate is when your food should be hot and it's not. The items came out one at a time as well so we waited over 30 minutes for the duck, only to be disappointed. The turnip cake was the only item I really enjoyed, was freshly fried and Crispy on the outside, soft inside, good flavor and a decent serving. Dumplings were just okay. The bbq honey pork had good flavor but did not seem fresh, barely warm and soaking in a lot of oil. The duck was quite disappointing. They had peeled all the skin and premade the buns leaving the duck skinless and not very flavorful. Having it come out cold wasn't good either. The only thing that came out hot was the tea. With 33 people in attendance, we enlisted the help of Managers Mo & Loc, in choosing the following dishes: deep fried taro puffs & seafood dumplings (appetizers), egg drop soup w/ minced pork, tofu w/ black mushrooms & choy sum, crispy noodles w/ beef & choy sum, white rice (on request), steamed whole fish (uhu) w/ ginger onion, signature golden fried chicken, live lobster w/ ginger onion, Peking duck w/ steamed buns, remaining duck meat, honey walnut shrimp, tofu w/ black mushrooms/choy sum & fish-shaped mango pudding. A half sheet of beautifully decorated strawberry shortcake from Elvin's Bakery completed the meal. After several visits & revisions to the menu, we finalized the menu with suggestions from Mo & Loc. We wanted to capture dishes from different food groups, e.g., dim sum (appetizer), soup, meats, poultry, seafood, veggies, noodles & dessert. We had a typed menu listing that was placed on each table to let those who had seafood allergies know of food items that contained seafood. Yes, everyone enjoyed the delicious lunch choices, & food portions were generous, so guests were eager to take home the extras! Presentation was outstanding on large serving platters, & as guests were eating, staff routinely switched the remaining foods to smaller platters to allow for space on the table top lazy susan for additional dishes yet to be served. We were fortunate to have the room for 4+ hours, as our 2nd seating allowed us to stay until the staff needed to prep the private room for dinner. That was a bonus, as the introduction, meal, photo slide show, games, dessert, words from hubby & I, & socializing among guests took much of this time. If we had taken the 1st seating, there would have been a limitation of 2 1/2 hours. Service was excellent w/ dishes served promptly, w/ the order of dishes determined by the chefs, depending on how busy they were in the main dining room. Serving staff was always there, refilling tea/water, replacing serving platters, clearing used dishes, and accommodating any requests. On its exterior, Jade Dynasty has 2 huge horses & a statuesque jade disc at its entrance, signifying rich Chinese symbols of peace & balance, w/ the jade reflecting a symbol of power. The interior, which can accommodate 300+ guests, has about 8,000 sq ft of dining space w/ walls of dark wood accents of mahogany & a ceiling w/ornate, intricately crafted crystal chandeliers. It also has private rooms on the left (dinner only) & on the right (lunch & dinner) w/ free use of their LED monitors, audio & projection systems, & microphone. These private rooms can accommodate 10 to 60 people. We reserved our private room of 3 tables on the right side of the restaurant w/ a deposit to be applied to the final bill. As the tables are large & can fit 15 people, this room was perfect for our 33 people. The dark red walls made it somewhat dim, as compared to the 5-table private room on the left side of the restaurant, which appeared to be brighter. But we were glad we had the lunch private room that had the high-tech equipment, which the other private room does not. Hours of operation are daily 10:30a to 9:00p. Located on the 4th floor of the Hookipa Terrace at the shopping complex, there is an abundant number of free parking spaces; however, available spaces may be difficult to find during peak dining hours due to a number of restaurants & food courts in the complex. But if you wait, people are leaving as they complete their shopping. Jade Dynasty currently participates in the American Savings Bank "Go Local" program that offers discounts to locals in supporting local businesses if you use your debit card account. First restaurant of 2026! I came here for lunch, and I was told that it would be a 30-45 minute wait. They give you a ticket instead of taking your phone number. I walked around for 20 minutes (I set a timer on my phone) and when I came back, they were past my number! But they seated me right away after telling them. I ordered some dim sum and chow fun, and I loved the chow fun, mochi balls, and siu mai. However, the food took a little bit to come out. Stopped in for dim sum during our shopping day. Jade Dynasty offers dim sum daily from 1030-1700. While there was a lot of people waiting for a table, the wait was less than 15 minutes. Once seated, we started to order and in no time our food started coming out to our table. All of the dishes were great! We ordered a bit too much food and we ended up taking home leftovers. My favorite dim sum spot on the island! Plenty of parking, fast and efficient service and the dim sums are hot, fresh and tasty. Prices and portions are reasonable and I understand why you gotta wait in line. It's best if you come right when they open. If not, you wait awhile and we had to wait 30 minutes. Also, you better dash when they call your number in the microphone! They only call your number about 5 times then they move on with the "Last call!" It's hilarious to listen to and love how quickly they move on. This place is packed especially on the weekends and I loved the hustle and bustle of this place. Every seat was taken and I loved watching the servers continuously dropping off dim sums. The green pan fried dim sum is a must get! It was my first time eating it and the texture is crispy on the outside and pretty unique. I'll definitely order that again. While everyone is headed to Chinatown to get their dim sum fix, this place happens to be MY go to. Located in Ala Moana their dim sum is always consistently good and the restaurant is always clean and packed on the weekends. Their taro puffs are my favorite, but everything else is great too. My go toos are the shumai, seaweed rolls, steamed black bean spareribs, taro puffs, crispy shrimp dumpling....and I could go on and on. One thing they do have there that haven't seen anywhere else is the look fun spring rolls, which are awesome!! The service is good for a Chinese spot and the food usually comes out pretty quick, no matter how busy they are. I would get there early as some popular items do tend to sell out. They do also serve a variety of traditional Chinese dishes from noodles to beef broccoli, everything is usually always delishes. If you're at Ala Moana any day off the week and are craving some dim sum give em a try. read more

After Google Maps led us on a wild goose chase, we finally found the correct part of the HUGE mall where the restaurant is actually located. Thank goodness we had reservations and others in our party made it there early. We ordered quite a few different dim sum items. I didn't want to keep taking pictures and holding everyone back from being able to eat so no photos. The BBQ pork was really tender and tasty, although a little bit too much fat. I was surprised my wife liked it because she normally doesn't care much for char siu. Everything we ordered was excellent but 2 items really stood out. The snow mountain char siu buns and baked taro buns and very unique. The pastry on the outside is very light and coated with a touch of sugar. You really should not forget to order these. I've never had anything like them at any other dim sum place. Sooo delicious. Service was spot on and food was brought out in a timely manner. Servers were all friendly and did their jobs efficiently. One customer arrived late for their reservation and the man tried to argue his wife was already there. The greeter told him she only arrived a minute earlier and they most likely had a 12:30 reservation but showed up a little before 1. The restaurant is extremely busy so throwing a fit will get you nowhere. I'm not sure when I'll be returning to Hawaii but my family will definitely make a stop here when they come back in a few years. It's worth the trip. Just don't be late for a reservation (ha ha!). read more
