First off, no wait bc it was close to 1:30. Everything came out piping hot and fresh Out of all the dim sum places on the island, and I've tried them all, this is my new favorite Siu Mai 5/5 was my DD favorite Beef Ball had good flavor and texture Fried Pork Dumpling (ham siu gok) had water chestnut in it which was a first for me. But it worked! Egg tart 5/5 had a great crust and the bite with the filling was actually really good Ngl Pan fried Chives and Shrimp dumpling was tasty Definitely be back when I am back in town We also came here for dinner a few nights later. Note: they don't serve dim sum during dinner. There wasn't many seafood selection let alone fresh seafood. Clams were even out. Fresh Ong Choy and bbq pork was the highlights. Second time here and definitely had more tables than last time I went. You order from a paper menu that is on the table (sorry didn't take a picture of it) and you can order off the regular menu as well. You also get hot tea ( loose leaf green tea) as soon as you sit down. Everything was delicious and my favorite would be the char siu snow buns as it was a sweet coating on the buns which was my first time to try that. Never seen stuffed fried tofu with shrimp and that was interesting to see. The tofu was on the bottom and the shrimp on the top. The char siu stuffed in a look fun noodle was really tasty as well. Two weeks ago, I went to this place for dim sum. I ordered the steamed char siu buns and shrimp and pork siu mai. The dim sum was made to order and came out piping hot. The steamed buns were kind of falling apart when I was holding one to eat it. The pork siu mai only had 3 pieces unlike other restaurants. They were still good. Jade has always been the place where my boyfriend and I would go to eat dim sum. We went early on Sunday for lunch with his younger brother and got there around 10:15am. There was a huge line out the door for people who had no reservations. We waited in that line and was sat around 10:45am, which is great considering they open and 10:30am and that we didn't have a res. Dim sum there is always fire, but we also decided to try something new and ordered the salt and pepper lobster. They serve dim sum daily until 5pm which is a lot later than most restaurants because typically these dishes are considered brunch/lunch. I do like their dim sum dishes as they don't seem as oily. However, Jade tends to be more expensive than Chinatown options due to their location in the shopping center. Despite this, I absolutely love their snowy mountain char siu bun. 10/10 and a must order since not all places carry this item. Met up with some friends for Dim Sum at Jade Dynasty Seafood Restaurant. If you don't have a reservation, best practice is to be in line before they open at 10:30am. "Ala Moana Center Dim Sum" Can't beat the location. Usually parking is not an issue. The offerings are quite good, we usually go there for the dim sum, their other offerings are nice too. Favorites include: Snow Mountain Char siu bao, stuffef egg plant, shrimp/scallop dumpling and braised e mein with mushrooms. They offer specialty menus for lunch and dinner gatherings. They pack you in like sardines so if you come right when they open at 11am, you have a better chance of maneuvering to a location with a little more space. The name of the game is to get your order in before too many orders are taken and the wait can start to take its toll. But there is a reason it gets crowded- the food is usually good, the staff is usually pretty attentive, they do not pressure you to hurry up and finish, but once you do finish, they will wisk you out for the next group. We have a family dinner celebrating my late mom's birthday. When we arrived, the hostess put us in a private room. Very cool, even if the room was the one they serve all the tea out of. Restaurant was not too crowded and the parties were on the other side. My sister had a pre-planned menu. So far so good right. Then we were told the room had a minimum order amount of $400. We thought the planned menu was going to be under that. Over $300 but maybe under $400. So the manager put us across the restaurant on a smaller table that will technically fit the ten of us. But pretty tight. And right in front of the bathroom. Good service, to me, would be to say, "Don't worry about the minimum tonight and enjoy the room." This restaurants has been winning awards every year since 2014. The best part was no additional charge for tea with dim sum. That made it worth it and if you were from out of town, the sales tax in Hawaii is less than 5%. I suggested this place to my aunties and our party of 6 was seated in 15 minutes on a weekday. The tables looked a bit squishy but it ended up fine. The service was normal for a Chinese restaurant. They dropped off a pot of tea when we were seated and then asked how many ice waters. It's not a super fancy but it does have that busy Chinese restaurant vibe. There's a dim sum sheet to check off the items you want. Alan had many years of experience at Spencecliff Restaurant & partners w/ the China-based restaurant group, Paramount Banquet Halls, which operates 28 restaurants in Hong Kong; Jade Dynasty is their 1st US restaurant. In addition to its popular dim sum offerings, Jade Dynasty's regular food menu consists of appetizers, soups, seafood specialties, meats, vegetables/tofu, rice dishes, noodles, & desserts. Hubby & I selected Jade Dynasty as the location of our 50th wedding anniversary luncheon w/ close relatives & friends. With 33 people in attendance, we enlisted the help of Managers Mo & Loc, in choosing the following dishes: deep fried taro puffs & seafood dumplings (appetizers), egg drop soup w/ minced pork, tofu w/ black mushrooms & choy sum, crispy noodles w/ beef & choy sum, white rice (on request), steamed whole fish (uhu) w/ ginger onion, signature golden fried chicken, live lobster w/ ginger onion, Peking duck w/ steamed buns, remaining duck meat, honey walnut shrimp, tofu w/ black mushrooms/choy sum & fish-shaped mango pudding. A half sheet of beautifully decorated strawberry shortcake from Elvin's Bakery completed the meal. After several visits & revisions to the menu, we finalized the menu with suggestions from Mo & Loc. We wanted to capture dishes from different food groups, e.g., dim sum (appetizer), soup, meats, poultry, seafood, veggies, noodles & dessert. We had a typed menu listing that was placed on each table to let those who had seafood allergies know of food items that contained seafood. Yes, everyone enjoyed the delicious lunch choices, & food portions were generous, so guests were eager to take home the extras! Presentation was outstanding on large serving platters, & as guests were eating, staff routinely switched the remaining foods to smaller platters to allow for space on the table top lazy susan for additional dishes yet to be served. We were fortunate to have the room for 4+ hours, as our 2nd seating allowed us to stay until the staff needed to prep the private room for dinner. That was a bonus, as the introduction, meal, photo slide show, games, dessert, words from hubby & I, & socializing among guests took much of this time. If we had taken the 1st seating, there would have been a limitation of 2 1/2 hours. Service was excellent w/ dishes served promptly, w/ the order of dishes determined by the chefs, depending on how busy they were in the main dining room. Serving staff was always there, refilling tea/water, replacing serving platters, clearing used dishes, and accommodating any requests. Managers Mo & Loc were friendly & pleasant to work w/ in helping to plan this event from the very beginning to the final payment, & their suggestions were very helpful. On its exterior, Jade Dynasty has 2 huge horses & a statuesque jade disc at its entrance, signifying rich Chinese symbols of peace & balance, w/ the jade reflecting a symbol of power. The interior, which can accommodate 300+ guests, has about 8,000 sq ft of dining space w/ walls of dark wood accents of mahogany & a ceiling w/ornate, intricately crafted crystal chandeliers. It also has private rooms on the left (dinner only) & on the right (lunch & dinner) w/ free use of their LED monitors, audio & projection systems, & microphone. These private rooms can accommodate 10 to 60 people. We reserved our private room of 3 tables on the right side of the restaurant w/ a deposit to be applied to the final bill. As the tables are large & can fit 15 people, this room was perfect for our 33 people. The dark red walls made it somewhat dim, as compared to the 5-table private room on the left side of the restaurant, which appeared to be brighter. But we were glad we had the lunch private room that had the high-tech equipment, which the other private room does not. Hours of operation are daily 10:30a to 9:00p. Located on the 4th floor of the Hookipa Terrace at the shopping complex, there is an abundant number of free parking spaces; however, available spaces may be difficult to find during peak dining hours due to a number of restaurants & food courts in the complex. But if you wait, people are leaving as they complete their shopping. Jade Dynasty currently participates in the American Savings Bank "Go Local" program that offers discounts to locals in supporting local businesses if you use your debit card account. We were able to get a discount of $100, as our total bill exceeded $500. The discount program currently runs through the end of 2025 & may be extended. First restaurant of 2026! I came here for lunch, and I was told that it would be a 30-45 minute wait. They give you a ticket instead of taking your phone number. I walked around for 20 minutes (I set a timer on my phone) and when I came back, they were past my number! But they seated me right away after telling them. I ordered some dim sum and chow fun, and I loved the chow fun, mochi balls, and siu mai. However, the food took a little bit to come out. The chow fun was the last one, which was a little disappointing since we ordered that first. The restaurant is huge and the ambiance is nice. I was really bummed about my meal at Jade. Although they had a mix of reviews, on yelp, their google reviews seemed much more positive so we gave it a try. We ate there at 3p so it was in between meals, and the restaurant was very empty. We ordered the roasted Peking duck with steam buns, honey barbecue pork, pork potsticker dumplings, and turnip cake. Unfortunately, our food came out luke warm and if there's one thing I hate is when your food should be hot and it's not. The items came out one at a time as well so we waited over 30 minutes for the duck, only to be disappointed. The turnip cake was the only item I really enjoyed, was freshly fried and Crispy on the outside, soft inside, good flavor and a decent serving. Dumplings were just okay. The bbq honey pork had good flavor but did not seem fresh, barely warm and soaking in a lot of oil. The duck was quite disappointing. They had peeled all the skin and premade the buns leaving the duck skinless and not very flavorful. Having it come out cold wasn't good either. The only thing that came out hot was the tea. Things have gone a bit down hill in the last few years at Jade Dynasty. Yes, they have some great dim sum offerings and the decor is very pretty. Waiters are not as rude as you think (Wait! 08/24/25 Took my friend for her birthday. So glad I made a reservation action for 10:30. When we arrived, the line stretched to the escalators! Yikes! They seated us right away and we completed the order sheet... this is where it gets squirrly. Concrete sheet is completed it seems we had to find someone to take it... then who know when the dim sum is coming. . They're located at Ala Moana Center on the 4th floor close to Macy's. Overall, customer service was friendly and pretty fast. We got seated right away. However, I did feel rushed in the beginning when they kept asking us if we were ready to order when we weren't done looking at the menus. My favorite item was the fried rice with salted fish and chicken. It had a nice wok flavoring and you could definitely taste the salted fish. Highly recommend. I also enjoyed the general tso chicken. It was hot and crispy. The sauce was good, but tasted more like orange chicken sauce. The honey walnut prawns were disappointing. Presentation was not great and the sauce tasted like straight up mayonnaise (not sweet nor any honey like what honey walnut shrimps usually consists of). It also looked like they just tossed a bunch of walnuts to the side. I thought it was a small portion too considering how much it costed. Pan fried noodle with beef wasn't very good either.
