Great selection. I went today (Saturday) for the first time. I was very impressed with the coffee and treats selection. I got a hot matcha with almond milk and my wife got a chai latte. Both of our drinks had great flavor but was not very hot. Only con to the location was all the employees were young and it appeared they spend a little to much time small talking rather than tending to customers. read more

This will be my coffee stop from now on my commute San Diego -Anaheim. It's not that far from the 5. Their pastries are so good!! The berries muffin is addictive honestly. Updated review: came here today Friday 7/26 around 12:00pm to buy my mom the amazing iced flat white. I got an decaf oat milk flat white for me and an decaf almond milk flat white for her. I grabbed my drink first and sipped it while waiting for her, but I instantly got a stomach ache and felt odd. It tasted all right, but my stomach within minutes of just a few sips felt sick. When she arrived, she sipped hers while I ran to the restroom, feeling unwell. And when she drank hers, within a few sips her stomach felt odd too. I didn't even have the chance to tell her about my stomach feeling unwell from the coffee, as I had to rush to the restroom. After I got out, we both talked about our stomachs hurting simultaneously after drinking the drinks. We were surprised as to why both of our stomachs were hurting. Maybe they accidentally put in whole milk or another dairy milk for our drinks? We have no idea what was in the coffees that caused our stomach aches, but whatever it is needs to be addressed and amply taken care of by the management and staff. If it was dairy milks put in our drinks... we've been dairy free for 3-4 years and we will most likely have serious gastrointestinal consequences from drinking dairy milk without knowing it. I am more sensitive to it than my mom, and I have no idea what will take place with my stomach and gut as a result of this. However, the staff was very helpful and gave us a full refund. This coffee shop has all the good vibes, great music and very aesthetically pleasing. The staff is very friendly and explains everything very well. The coffee and matcha is very good. I got an uppers espresso shot and a Perú pour over. Both very enjoyable. My wife got a matcha latte and liked it. This is my favorite spot for coffee in San Clemente. We found it through their sister shop in San Diego, OB Beans. The atmosphere is simple but has enough space to find a spot if they aren't too busy. However, they do get busy, so go earlier if you can. My favorite coffee shop in San Clemente. When I have friends and family in town this is where I take them! I also buy the whole beans for my espresso machine at home which I highly recommend. I get the Uppers blend. I've been coming to Sur Coffee for over a year now and was my favorite place to go and study up until recently (graduated!!!) Independently owned coffee shop, located just off El Camino Real in San Clemente. All of their coffee is single origin, and roasted in house. In fact, you can catch a glimpse of the process while you wait for your coffee. They work directly with farmers in coffee-producing countries around the world to select high quality, unique beans. Sur Coffee currently has 3 locations in Orange County. On the afternoon I visited, there was a long line, and only one barista working. He was really friendly, but ultimately I waited 25 minutes for a Flat White and a Cinnamon Roll. The Flat White was excellent; in fact, one of the best renditions of this drink I've ever had. The espresso was creamy, bold, and had no residual acidity. Honestly, 10/10. The Cinnamon Roll, on the other hand, was terrible. Even after being warmed up, it was so rock hard that I could not cut it with a knife. I had to rip it apart with my hands, and even that was difficult. The icing tasted good, but the pastry itself was so tough that I could not chew it. There were no other pastry/food options, but do not order this. read more

There were 5 (that's right FIVE!) young employees all messing around behind the bar, chatting, laughing, showing photos to each other and didn't give a F about making anyone's drink properly despite the line being almost to the door. I will say, it's pretty gross to be sitting and having a coffee while people with dirty, bare feet with open sores walk around the shop. This person went into the restroom barefoot and walked around inside the store, which was pretty gnarly. Cashier and baristas noticed and didn't even care. Had we not already purchased food and a coffee, we would have walked out and not bought anything here. This spoke volumes about lack of concern for any type of cleanliness to us. I get it, we live in a beach town. But don't say you as a business are adhering to "strict COVID protocols" or really ANY hygienic standards if you're just going to allow this. Just gross. Looks like we need to spend more time in San Clemente because the food and drinks are all so great. We stopped in early on a Sunday and were warmly greeted by friendly staff (and greeted by a beautiful pastry display we couldn't say no to) The cafe itself is spacious and clean. There are plenty of tables inside and a few out front if you feel like staying for a bit. The pastries were all freshly baked- the cinnamon rolls were scooped directly from the baking dish into our box and were decadent. A great mix of crispy edges with ooey gooey centers. The cranberry orange scrone was perfectly sweet. I got a cold brew, black, which was great and my husband got a vanilla oat milk latte which he enjoyed. His drink was a light sweetness and he was thrilled. So many shops make their drinks overly sappy sweet. Would recommend stopping in here! read more

It was a Sunday morning... Maybe I came on a wrong day? I was visiting the area after attending a wedding a couple miles from the coffee shop. Of all the places I found, I chose this one given the great reviews. It was a little hard to find given there are a lot of little cute shops in the area. The atmosphere is aesthetic and hipster. A few people were studying inside but not too many. We ordered an iced latte and a hot latte. The order I actually wanted was an iced vanilla or hazelnut or any flavor latte with oat milk and a hot vanilla latte and a bakery good. They ran out of all syrups beside simple syrup. Not one flavor was available. They also ran out of all bakery goods besides one muffin. When our drinks came out the latte has spilled over and the barista did not care to wipe the cup so it eventually became sticky. It was disappointing. read more
