Back home Sur La Table was tucked away in a Scottsdale strip mall across from the mall-so it wasn't easily accessible-so when I saw a SLT at the Marketplace I was elated. You literally could park right outside the door. I was searching for some cookie cutters for the big football game, but of course, this is Texas-and every baker in The Woodlands beat me to it. So I settled on a state of Texas cookie cutter and a Saguaro cactus cookie cutter for sentimental reasons-reminds me of back home in Arizona. Overall, this housewares store will keep you busy shopping for everything you need in the kitchen, but you'll probably walk out with items you never planned on buying!

Saw Alton Brown using a similar probe on TV. Hopefully it works for frying foods in oil. My hand won't get hot.

Wow I know I'm a fan and a sucker when it comes to shopping for kitchenware. This is my first go to place for everything for all my kitchen needs. From high end toaster ovens to latte machines to aprons, parchment paper and all those adorable overpriced shiny kitchen and silicone utensils. I somehow became a fan of this store I guess because of its central location in Market Street and because several of my other fav shops were nearby. Anyway they do carry quite a variety of beautiful white plates in designer shapes to the popular Le Creuset plates/sets and cookware in popular bold colors. Very nice selection of higher end Wusthof knives to fancy and wild shaped Japanese knifes. In the back right section of the store you will find almost every high end coffee, latte and expresso machine in the industry. They even have professional grade ones they claim. Also ever other kind of new but probably overpriced kitchen appliance can be found. Quality is very good usually just depends if it's of interest to you. Also in the spring and summer you'll find every kind of contraption to grill all your favorite foods on. In the front of the store there are all kinds of miscellaneous kitchen gadgets. Even foodie Christmas tree ornaments in the fall. Great place to pick up gifts for your foodie friends or yourself. Btw huge sales like 40-60% off actually do happen on many of the very pricey items like the Le Creuset cookware, Al Clad pans, Wusthof knives etc. These sale usually start around September thru mid November. Lately I've been getting almost daily emails. So if you're looking for good deals on the above mentioned sign up at their website and make sure to read their emails especially around this time of year. I unfortunately blew off reading mine in previous years and discovered these sales last November after I had purchased many high end items at full price. Btw the real high end coffee makers don't go on sale. Recently a little savings was to be had on some of the slightly less priced coffee makers.

    40% off sale!

Knowledgeable and Trustworthy!…read more I have a 15+ year old refrigerator that neither the refrigerator or freezer were working. Akai inspected the entire unit and indicated the issue was the defroster in the freezer wasn't working and needed to be replaced. He quoted me what I thought was a very fair price but before I could say "Shut up and take my money!" he added that when he had unplugged the unit & plugged it back in, when starting up again the compressor sounded a bit suspicious. Thus he indicated I could go ahead and pay him to install a new defroster in the freezer, but it is only a matter of time before the compressor craps out and then replacing it would be over $1,000 and not worth it. So get this....he proposes that I defrost it the old school way by unplugging it, opening both the freezer & fridge doors, placing towels in front of the unit, and allowing all of the ice to melt and then just mop up all the water with towels and my wet vac and that would solve the problem for now. And in a few months when the issue occurs again I can just repeat the old school defrosting method until the compressor finally goes kaput, and then get a brand new refrigerator. Sure enough, I proceeded to do exactly what he recommended and lo and behold the fridge & freezer started working properly again. And I am all too happy to repeat every few months to squeeze every last bit of life from this old fridge until I have to get a new one. Akai could have very easily kept quiet about the compressor sounding sketchy and that it could fail in 3 weeks, 3 months, or 3 years and gotten a nice service order for replacing the defroster since he had already devoted the valuable time & effort to come to my house. However, he instead chose to be completely honest and forthcoming which is not as common as it should be and is very appreciated. I have saved his contact info and the next time I have any issues with any appliances he will be the technician I call. Knowledge and experience is great and there are a lot of qualified & knowledgeable appliance repair companies out there. However, also possessing honesty and integrity is why I strongly recommend Akai for any appliance repair issues.

He is very knowledgeable about different appliances and he knew mine right away and he had an idea what it could be and sure enough it was the soap & softener dispenser. He showed me how to remove & clean it. It had held water wasn't draining back into the machine like it was supposed to just a minor little thing but now I know how to clean it periodically. Worth it for my peace of mind & also made sure I knew where my water shut off was just in case. These are good things to know , most people might not & that I'm a woman & older, it's good to know. Plus it doesn't hurt to have my machine looked at after 16 years. I've been here so I won't be afraid to use my washing machine so thank you AKIA.
