Cooking class date night was awesome!! Chef Julian was the best! Food was amazing!! Chef was great at instructing and demonstrating.

My husband and I recently took a pastry class at the Sur La Table in the Woodlands. Texas. The class focused on preparing laminated dough and using dough to make a number of pastry items. Chef Jalen was a great instructor who explained what we needed to do and made his way to each kitchen of four making sure we were being successful in creating our laminated dough. Next, Chef taught us how to create a variety of pastries including palmiers and Kouign-Amani. After baking the pastries, we each have a box of our delicious pastries to take home. This a fun and wonderful learning experience. We have already signed for a date night class! read more

There was a very kind Latina who helped us on our search for an in-stock food processor. This kind woman accommodated our needs by checking inventory in store and online. For this, the store gets 1 star. Yet the whole time we were in the store, an older White lady followed my husband, son, and daughter around and stared at us with menacing looks. It was disgusting and disappointing at the same time. She literally treated everyone else who came in with a smile and friendly gestures. She on occasion left her behind the register position- and kept peering at us as if we were up to no good. My family was patiently standing to the side awaiting my decision on a food processor, while I was looking at other items for purchase. However, I decided that I would NOT spend my money in an establishment that treated us this way. It was obvious that the White lady was trying to create an unwelcoming environment for us. My family have been residents of The Woodlands for 40 years this year. I am VERY disappointed in Sur La Table in hiring someone like this in this day and age. No one should be treated this way...EVER. While I have spent thousands of dollars over the years at other Sur La Table locations for cooking camps for my children and items for our family, I will never return. I will find a different kitchen store that values me as a customer. read more

Sue La Table is a good go to when looking for quality cookware, electronics and gadgets. Yes, they can be pricey however as they say you get what you pay for. We purchased a Breville espresso machine. We received a demonstration and the sales clerk was very knowledgeable making me more comfortable in spending that much. Back home Sur La Table was tucked away in a Scottsdale strip mall across from the mall-so it wasn't easily accessible-so when I saw a SLT at the Marketplace I was elated. You literally could park right outside the door. I was searching for some cookie cutters for the big football game, but of course, this is Texas-and every baker in The Woodlands beat me to it. So I settled on a state of Texas cookie cutter and a Saguaro cactus cookie cutter for sentimental reasons-reminds me of back home in Arizona. Overall, this housewares store will keep you busy shopping for everything you need in the kitchen, but you'll probably walk out with items you never planned on buying! read more

I purchased a complete set of dishes for 12 and serving pieces, matching placemats and napkins. I spent so much money that I left them in bags in my dining room for weeks, wondering if I had gone overboard! All dishes were marked "Hand painted in Italy for Sur La Table". Microwave safe. Imagine my dismay when the glaze on the dishes CRACKLED the first time they were put in the microwave!!! Let me start with saying that I love Sur La Table. Even tough I didn't have one in El Paso, TX, online shopping has been my go to. Imagine my delight when I found not one but two stores at close distance from our new home. Decided to make a quick stop today. Was interested in asking about any cooking classes they had at this location. Plus had a few items in my mind, to pick while there. There was only one person at the register. She was occupied with a customer so we continued looking around. She then helped her customer take his purchase outside. We waited some more. I don't know if she didn't notice we were there, but right around the time we were making our way to the register, with our items, she just walked pass by and decided to place her attention on the customers who had just walked into the store. Completely dismissing us. That was enough for me to put everything back and walk out. Step it up people. Wow I know I'm a fan and a sucker when it comes to shopping for kitchenware. This is my first go to place for everything for all my kitchen needs. From high end toaster ovens to latte machines to aprons, parchment paper and all those adorable overpriced shiny kitchen and silicone utensils. I somehow became a fan of this store I guess because of its central location in Market Street and because several of my other fav shops were nearby. Anyway they do carry quite a variety of beautiful white plates in designer shapes to the popular Le Creuset plates/sets and cookware in popular bold colors. Very nice selection of higher end Wusthof knives to fancy and wild shaped Japanese knifes. In the back right section of the store you will find almost every high end coffee, latte and expresso machine in the industry. They even have professional grade ones they claim. Also ever other kind of new but probably overpriced kitchen appliance can be found. Quality is very good usually just depends if it's of interest to you. Also in the spring and summer you'll find every kind of contraption to grill all your favorite foods on. In the front of the store there are all kinds of miscellaneous kitchen gadgets. Even foodie Christmas tree ornaments in the fall. Great place to pick up gifts for your foodie friends or yourself. Btw huge sales like 40-60% off actually do happen on many of the very pricey items like the Le Creuset cookware, Al Clad pans, Wusthof knives etc. These sale usually start around September thru mid November. Lately I've been getting almost daily emails. So if you're looking for good deals on the above mentioned sign up at their website and make sure to read their emails especially around this time of year. I unfortunately blew off reading mine in previous years and discovered these sales last November after I had purchased many high end items at full price. I stop in to get my favorite Basalmic Vinegar twice a year here. I wait for a 20% off coupon which happens multiple times a year, so definitely sign up for their emails if you are a frequent shopper. I always browse but rarely buy anything other than food. I love my basalmic vinegar and they sell it at the best price. Their price is even better than Amazon!!! They also have amazing dark chocolate caramel cookies during the holidays which are a must try. The store has been very clean every time I have been in but service is always slow. I'm normally not greeted and checkout takes a while...maybe they have a slow computer system. Regardless, I'll still be coming in for my fav basalmic vinegar. I appreciate the very quirky stores where they have a bit of everything laid out everywhere, however, being the prices and type of products sur la table has... I think they could work out some sort of organization so I don't have to go digging! I always feel like I am on a treasure hunt when I go there or I'm really just in a sea of treasure looking for the one thing I need! Additionally, along with organization of products, organization of the cashier line would also do it some wonders. Because of the overwhelming number of products and islands of products, it is difficult to distinguish the people in line vs people who are trying to peruse. Again, I LOVE sur la table... Even though I can't afford jack squat at this place it is still an excellent place to peruse. I want to say I've been to all the locations in Houston or almost all of them and this one is the best! The staff is extremely friendly without being pushy. They are also one of the most knowledgeable staff in the Houston area. The store is like Williams Sonoma's baby sister. It is about half the size of William Sonoma, but they carry the same high end brands. They carry many specialty items such as different kinds of wine glasses, a plethora of baking dishes, specialty knives, and fancy European espresso machines just to name a few. They have a small selection of clearance items and they usually have their specials at the front of the store. Yay for sales! The location at River Oaks, even has a kitchen where they host various cooking classes! Awesome, if you are an Iron Chef like *ahem* myself! So for a little change in scenery, skip William and Sonoma and come here for some slicing, dicing, mixing and baking. read more

If you do not have it, say so, instead of trying to tell me something different is just as good. How are two people are needed to handle one customer return while I wait to check out? They avoid eye contact just like airline gate agents. So, let's see: I can drive there, look for a parking space, walk to the store, find out they only have 2/4 items I am seeking, act aloof, and make me wait to make my purchase. Went to exchange an item I bought because it was defective, and decided to upgrade to the Le Creuset. A woman, assuming the manager actually because she wasn't wearing an apron, did not transfer over my coupon that I had used on the first defective item. I realized waking to my car and returned to explain. She said I already used the coupon and that it couldn't be used again, talking down to me the entire time, but that she would do it this one time. I needed a casserole dish so ran in before my grocery store trip at heb. It took awhile to find someone to help me. They seem understaffed to be honest. Once I found someone they were really helpful.
