Dogs need there space not to be in the middle of an active field with small dogs, ppl, children. That's a bad connection. The trainers bring dogs that have no control of their senses to a family park in an open space. Park department should not allow this. My dad trained German shepherd , Doberman and he trained them indoor until they were well trained and obedience. If they continue to get complains the park department may listen. I don't know why they are not investigating yet. I would hate to have find another park for my pup because of safety.

My girls a had a ton of fun but didn't even sniff the entire Park, it's so big. It's fenced in and safe, but there is not a large and small dogs section. I don't see that as an issue, I'd like the opportunity for my dogs to meet smaller dogs and learn how to play with them appropriately. There are fun obstacles to train on but there are hardly ever other dogs there. Maybe I'm just going at the "wrong time" but it's usually empty. Lots of puddles and some mud if it has rained recently, but I brought a towel and that was no issue. Gives your dog a place to get a drink!

Pathetically muddy, you won't be clean either. -two weeks later, we try to give it a try again. Same thing just happened. I walked in and got a completely muddy shirt from the dogs jumping on me. Owners had no control. We definitely won't be back.

There are also picnic tables around the rest of the park. A separate entrance to a dog park that includes two fences at the entrance for proper unleashed play. Though the fence around the park is only three feet high (one meter) so keep an eye on your dog if they're capable of jumping something like that. Let likely for children to hop the fence, but yes the entire park is surrounded to keep the little ones from possibly wandering off. It just so happened to be their Christmas market and fair - with face painting, vendors, special treats and games. My little one could have cared less about the aforementioned happenings. She cares about playgrounds and this park had one of the best we've seen. It was crawling with kids, so even better for entertainment! She played for hours. There was plenty of space, nooks and crannies for kids to run and do their own thing. The equipment all looked in good repair and the park was very clean. Everything is surrounded by mature trees so the playground was shaded during our visit. As lunch approached, we walked over to the water for some calm & relaxation. There are a couple of boat ramps, though I believe I was there at low-tide as one looked inaccessible. There were also a couple of swings to sit and look out over the water. I noted a walking trail as we were leaving and would certainly return to see the rest of the park. I was very impressed with my first visit here.

She is a rescued beagle with a fear of loud noises, likely an abandoned hunting dog. There were several speeding vehicles roaring down the highway in the park and one of them backfired loudly scaring her horribly. She jolted in fear and nearly jerked her leash out of my hand. Terrified, she pulled me toward my car to escape the loud noise of the speeding vehicles. So much for a peaceful walk and breath of fresh air! Bad form, New Hanover County. You call this a park? Like all the other "parks" in the county this is nothing more than an example of overdevelopment and poor planning. I am sure those in the development and construction industries appreciated the giveaway of public land and tax dollars!
