Supposed to be a bean cheese lettuce tomato sour cream burrito. It had rice- I didn't want rice. Tasted-pure GARLIC POWDER
    Miss D.

Grossest burrito I've had in my life! A soggy inside mess that tasted like a mouthful of GARLIC POWDER. I asked for no rice. It had rice. Most disgusting burrito I've ever had. I should have known when I got it home and it smelled like Chinese food and not Mexican food. Gross Gross Gross! I took one bite, spit it out, and threw it away. Waste of money! Very low quality food. Bad chefs. Bad tasting food. I DO NOT RECOMMEND!!!

Being from San Diego, I have replaced one of the major food groups with Mexican Food. I was about two weeks out from our flight to Hawaii, when I started to ponder the question: Does Hawaii have any Mexican Food? The quick answer is Yes, but then it becomes a question is it any good? On our first night in Waikiki, we walked passed the Surf N Turf Taco. It was really close to the Hotel which was a total relief. Though I was really trying my best to get out of my comfort zone in terms of food department. Surf N Turf Taco became my fail safe - though wasn't aware how soon that would be. One of the other things I quickly learned, it's tough to find a Dr.Pepper on Island. Was so relieved when I saw Surf N Turf Taco had it on tap. What truly makes this place special is the owner Grant. Very friendly individual that totally made you feel like welcome. It's a smaller shop but there was plenty of room to grab a quick bite. I did end up picking up more than just a Dr.Pepper and was pretty impressed with the Burrito and Salsa. Was relieved to find Mexican Food day 1.

I've been ordering from this taco place many times and never disappoint. My go to order either carne asada burrito or carne asada rice bowl. Generous amount of meat and flavor always consistent. Today I ordered garlic shrimp rice bowl with cilantro rice and black bean from Uber Eats.

Super disappointed when I got in line to order carne asada fries but the person told me carne asada was only available for online orders. I didn't see any signs that stated that previously. I didn't want to wait to place an online order so I tried their carnitas fries and beer battered fish tacos. The beer battered fish was humongous. It barely fit beside my taco and mouth! It was also very tasty. However, the sauce made my taco very liquidy and made my taco soggy. My fries were pretty basic. You place your order and then you go down the line like Subway or Chipotle. The carnitas wasn't flavorful and very dissatisfying. The line moved quickly though. There's some indoors and outdoor seating. You can also order at the kiosk.

Ordered tacos and the service was quick and great, food was delicious as well. The location is nice since it's in Waikiki and there are many restaurants, etc.

Surf N Turf - 3 Stars This was my very first stop after checking into my hotel in Waikiki, and let me tell you--the late-night crowd and laid-back vibes had me sold before I even stepped inside. Watching happy people devour their food outside was all the confirmation I needed. I waited about 15 minutes in line, which wasn't bad. Honestly, I was too busy going back and forth in my head about whether to get tacos or a burrito. After watching a few orders roll out, I landed on a garlic shrimp and Kalbi beef burrito--yes, a wild combo, but baby, it made my night three times better. The flavors blended beautifully, and it hit every craving I didn't even know I had. Inside, the staff was super friendly and patient, even with the rotating, slightly tipsy crowd. They explained the sauces and spice levels like pros and kept the energy up the whole time. My burrito was massive, and I easily had leftovers for another meal. Is this a must-stop compared to other spots in town? Not necessarily. But it's solid, quick, and a great option for breakfast, lunch, or that late-night craving after a beach day (or a few drinks). I can't comment on parking because everyone seemed to be walking the strip--which I recommend. It's the perfect way to walk off the meal. Plus, they've got plenty of fruit juices and drink options to refuel.

From the moment you're welcomed as you walk in, the hospitality is second to none. The warm, inviting atmosphere makes the experience even better. There are so many options to choose from, whether you order from the preset menu or build your own meal. The flavors are phenomenal, delivering authentic Latin cuisine that's fresh, flavorful, and memorable. Don't be afraid to ask questions or for recommendations. The staff is incredibly knowledgeable and genuinely wants to make sure you enjoy your meal. This place was such a great find, and I highly recommend it!

Great little spot that hilariously feels like a hole in the wall despite being on Kuhio ave which is one of the main areas in Waikiki. Prices are pretty reasonable and the service is pretty fast. I got their carnitas nachos and was huge.

This spot is on a busy street in Waikiki and there are consistently folks coming in and out so we gave it a try and I can see why folks line up for it. You have to line up and pick your entree and all the toppings. They have all of options but it is quick even when it is busy. The go-to here are the 2 taco combo, burrito or asada fries. The asada or fish are solid and I get it with everything, so this ended up being pretty loaded that it took a big bite to get it down. The house sauce is fire but most the sauces are tasty. The salsa is really good and takes the flavor to the next level. It comes with the combo with chips so that is worth getting. If you want a hefty meal the asada fries are loaded and a heavy portion even for 2. There are other options for meats so you can ever go wrong with a tray of tacos!

The food and service was fantastic. So delicious and a great view of the ocean. Tacos (shrimp and fish), tres leches, pineapple salsa are amazing.

If your on doordash or your walking into this place run away. They keep their tongs in the murky water and they call it cleaning. You can literally see the mold and bacteria growing. I watched someone eat this and against all odds I had tried some chicken after requesting the food to not be handled with the mystery tongs. I've been sick for 3 days and its been horrible . All the food is cross contamination. Just go across the street to get food. The homeless wouldn't even eat it when I offered it to them lol. Vibe is also trash for such a nasty place they sure got attitude to work there

Baja fish Dos Tacos (2 tacos of your choice)
    Emma F.

Overall, I'd skip this spot. The staff are nice and it's very affordable but the overall quality wasn't great. I ordered the Baja fish tacos and they were really hard to eat/mostly breading. My mistake for putting 3 sauces on there, but it didn't taste like much. The chips and guac were good. My fiancée tried the carne asada burrito and said it was so so. Total was less than $40 for all three items.

Our son ordered the nachos appetizer as his main meal, my husband got the Mexico burrito, and I ordered the carnitas plate. I tried a bit of everyone's food, and honestly, we had zero complaints. Every dish was packed with flavor and cooked to perfection. The meat was tender, not overly salty or chewy at all. The guacamole was even creamy! To put the value into perspective: a few days earlier, I bought three carne asada tacos with very little meat from a food court in Waikiki, and they were only a few dollars cheaper than my entire, massive plate here. The pricing is incredible for the generous portions you get, making it a great budget friendly option compared to everywhere else we ate while visiting Honolulu. My husband even noted that he had never had Mexican food this good in the States especially considering Honolulu is so far from the border! But we were looking for something different, quick, and tasty. That's what we got at K-Mex HI although to be quite frank - the parking lot here is terrible! Mostly due to their location in the middle of the street with a handful of street parking locations shared with multiple other businesses down the lane. It took us 3 rounds of driving before we ended up deciding it was better to drop me off to order and pick up the food and have my man drive around into another larger parking lot to wait the 15-ish minutes it would take for our food to be ready. The owners were so nice. Answering all of my insistent questions, smiling when I ended up ordering something different from what they recommended on the menu (my bad - it's a question I ask all businesses even though I usually decide what I want beforehand LOL). They asked if I needed a bag, if I needed utensils and napkins, and even checked in on me while they made the food! Awesome service and I'm sure it would be the same if we decided to eat in. I liked the atmosphere. It was small but homely, clean, and there were a few small fish tanks in the corner! 15-ish minutes later, food packed up - I jumped back in the car and we drove down to South Shore Market in Ward to eat at the tables and take a glance if Ocean Taste's line was... long (it was). And let me tell you... the food? Delicious. The amount of food? Good for the price! And overall pretty darn great experience. I wasn't the biggest fan of the spicy pork (not my preference). But my fiancé liked it and his only comment was that it was a bit greasy for his liking. Reminded him he was in-fact eating spicy pork which is normally served on his plate lunch in a piece of tinfoil so the oil doesn't get everywhere!
