this is a convenient car wash because theres not much competition in Chico, its also relatively affordable. This same company was AMAZING in Pleasanton CA. Here in Chico more often than not my car is still dirty after the wash. I have to run thru twice and is still dripping dark color soap that stains my white car and the towels i use to dry it. Additionally it does not clean the flies from the front bumper and hood. It never comes out clean in the front area. It'd be nice if they maintained the trash cans empty and the vacuum area clean. read more

Fire their office staff. Unresponsive and then when you follow up they make the DMV seem fun to go to. You can only deal with them on line. If you to them in persons some teenager will tell you to go online with your complaint. If you finally get fed up like we did and cancel your service, they will wait until they bill you again to cancel your service so they get another month out of you. Shady tactics. I gave them one star because they treat their customers like crap when there's a problem. Their product and service is not bad, but if their customers have a problem, they treat their customers poorly. Their business model is volume. They don't care if they lose you because another one will sign up behind you. It's kind of like a gym membership. It's volume. Customer service means nothing to them. read more

For some reason they have the members and self-pay closed. The car at the front of the line is signing up for a membership or something. and there are seven cars in line. Two in front of me and four behind me. We have been sitting here for about Fifteen Minutes, and we are still waiting for this front car to get out of the way. Signed up for the #1 membership. Got car washed today, and so far not impressed. To be fair, the car was pretty dirty, but... The guy guiding me in only have a quick spray of the bug cleaner on the car. Didn't even hit the passenger mirror. I would say at best it got about 1/3 of the bugs off. Most of the car got clean, but it totally missed sections of the back of the car. And where the dryers missed, the spot free rice didn't do its job. I have a full month, so I may come back and edit it this, weather it's better or worse. But I can tell you so far, I'm not impressed. Photo attached is of the front of the car after the wash. Don't get the subscription for monthly washes. You might as well contact congress to cancel but they'll sign you up at the drop of a hat. since its winter, I tried cancelling the $39.99 monthly membership today at the location off of Notre Dame and the guy said they couldn't do it and that I had to use some phony ass address to cancel. I explained that I signed up at the location and there must be an easier way to cancel, the guy said "sorry, there's not". I thought it was illegal to make it more difficult to cancel than it is to subscribe. I'll be checking and reporting to the BBB. The washes I received weren't terrible and I had to basically re-wash in the vacuum bays after each time. Only good thing about this joint is the free vacuums...don't get the memberships, you've been warned. read more

Car is supposed to be sprayed on both sides before you drive into the wash. It is only manned on one side rather than both. Today he gave it a quick squirt then was more concerned about lining up the other cars into the track. the wheels should be sprayed. I only go to use up my gift card. read more

When they first opened it was amazing. I've been coming here with a full membership for over 2 yes, both shops have gone downhill in the past yr. Doesn't dry your car, windshields doesn't get cleaned, and the part few weeks I've been through, it doesn't even take the bird crap of my hood. Went to Forest Ave location. Disappointed. Hood of car showed brush marks still dirty. Imagine my surprise, I rubbed off the dirt and found pit marks in the paint. Pleased check the equipment may need to be replaced. Now I know why they were offering a second wash FREE. read more

I get their basic membership every summer for $2 the first month and $19 for following months because of those valley bugs. Frankly, I hate washing my windshield so much (and I can't really reach it) that I just come through the car wash often. I love that the vacuums are included and that they do the pre-scrub with people on either side before you enter the automatic wash. It does a really decent job, but have the right expectations going in - it's in automatic car wash with a 30 second scrub brush on your windows prior, it's not a detailing place. I like that they use reclaimed water, however my one complaint is that the Skyway location overuses their water or something because it gets REALLY stinky. It's not every single time, but it's enough. I mean a very potent sulfur-y fart smell that lingers inside the car for like a full day, so it's memorable. Basically, I try to use the Espanade location instead every single time I'm on that side of town even though I live I. Durham to avoid risking if the Skyway one is smelly. read more

Windows were dirtier after the second washing as the rinse barely happened and the drying caused the dirty soapy to dry cloudy. When I was drying there was bluish grey water running down the side of my car. Just wanted to get that stuff off of my car. Came home and hosed it down to get whatever that was off the car. If I could I would have given zeros stars. When we purchased our membership there used to be two people that would scrub down the vehicle before it went it. This was key because the car wash itself does not clean the back of any kind of SUV, but with the people there to scrub, my car would at least get clean. Now they have one person that sprays down the front of the car and does nothing else. So guess what, the back of my SUV is just as dirty as before I got it washed. I sent an email to the company asking if they planned on address the issue, no response. Today we drove through and asked for a manager. He said there was nothing he could do and did not foresee brining back the pre-scrub. So we asked to cancel our membership. Well he could not help with that either. Said I had to do it on line. Went on line and the Manager Membership page does not work. Tried to call the number and got voice mail. Can't express how disappointed we are with the lack of customer service and or any interest in trying to make their product work. So not worth the money!! read more

When the pre washers ( the people before you enter) scrubbed my vehicle they really didn't at all. Went through once the washer didn't even hit the front or back of the car, I mean at all it wasn't even wet. Went through a second and really paid attention to the over spinner scrubber and it barely even touched the car. We usually use the auto in Willows and it does an extremely much better job and is much cheaper. read more

Surf Thru Car Wash Review: This place is a little less than an "ok" car wash, because of the price and the managers. The employees on the premises are nice but the the managers (that I've dealt with at least) are kind of jerky. A few weeks ago I needed to cancel my plan for about 4 or 5 months so I came by in person and asked to cancel as of that day, the 17th. Surf Thru typically charges my bank account around the 21st or 22nd. The employee was nice, and gave me a phone number and told me to call the manager to cancel. So I called that number, left my name & number and asked them to please cancel my plan asap and I requested a confirmation call back. No call back. So I called on the 18th and left another message. I was nervous that I wasn't getting a call back so I called Chico Surf Thru. The employee said they'd pass on the message to the manager. I felt confident that my plan was cancelled. On the 22nd I was charged $24.99 for that month! One of the reasons I was so desperate to cancel was because I was in the middle of switching bank accounts and that particular account didn't have ANY money in it, so I was charged a $37 bank fee as well! $61.99 in total! I came by in person on that day, the 22nd and told a young lady the entire story and she was super nice and made sure my plan was cancelled. She had told me I'd have to talk to the manager about a refund and to continue calling her because that particular manager (Dana) handles disputes. She also gave me the name & number of another manager as well, Carl. She let me through the gate but since my plan was cancelled, I drove left through the exit of course. (Note this, for later). I continued to call Dana a total of 3 times but never heard back from her. On the 25th, I decided to call Carl. Left a nice message requesting my monthly payment back as well as payment for my bank fee since I cancelled in plenty of time. He called me back right away sounding a little rushed and bothered, but told me that he would handle it in the morning so I was content, although afterwards I realized there was no mention of any reimbursement, just that he would get back to me. He never got back to me. Instead, I got a text the next morning confirming that my account was cancelled, something I did myself already 9 days before! Attempting to do so on the 17th first in person, then on the 18th over a voicemail then over the phone...... then finally got an actual cancellation receipt on the 22nd.... now I'm getting a text on the 26th telling me something I already know? How is that taking care of the problem of being charged $61.99 when I cancelled way in advance? I was getting very frustrated! I FINALLY got a call from Dana on the 28th. She asked the reason for my call (breathe....take a deep breath, Jenny, don't be a Karen...) so I calmly explained my story. Again. She didn't apologize. Didn't say a word, just asked me what I "wanted." (Breathe!) Again, I requested a refund for the month I cancelled and for a refund for my bank's charge since I cancelled in plenty of time. She said she'd "refund me for the month even though I went through the car wash." Excuse me? (Again. DEEP breath, Jenny). I told her that I, in fact, did not go through the car wash and that there is no other way to exit other than to be let through the boom gate. I had to uncomfortably defend myself. This is obviously a tactic of hers. I asked her again if Surf Thru could please reimburse me for the $37 fee the bank charged me. She told me I'd have to go through my bank for that problem. So basically, she was telling me the fee has nothing to do with Surf Thru. Hence the 2 stars, right there. Additionally, I think it's expensive for what you get. I've had to get back in line to wash my car a second time and I don't think that's something we should have to do just to get a clean car. I'm not even talking about bugs. The bugs are something I think customers have to work to get off. I'm talking basic dirt. In the sun, you can see sections where the water/brush didn't even get to. I think they have different settings sometimes, or use less water or something. Soap is often left on my car, too. The employees are usually nice and it's convenient to have two car washes here in Chico and to have the ability to go right through without much of a line but I would say those are the only good things about it. Also: you can drive through again if your car is still dirty and you can vacuum your car for free anytime between washes, so that's pretty cool. I don't dislike Surf Thru enough to stop going. There is no competition (which is why they charge a ridiculous amount for a mostly do-it-yourself car wash) but I'd prefer they charge a few dollars less (I thought $20 was a lot, but now it's $24.99 for their cheapest plan) and I think that's really my biggest complaint. That and how difficult it is to cancel/pause your monthly plan. If anyone knows of a better car wash for a decent price, please DM me! read more

The last two times I went there my tires didn't get the shine. I pay a monthly rate for the ultimate wash. They are no longer scrubbing the windshield, windows, grill. My car isn't getting as clean because of this. I was told they aren't doing it because of people accusing them of car damage. Well thanks a lot to the complainers. I purchased the Elite($17) wash, I specifically asked that extra attention be put on the back of my Ford Explorer as I've had issues with the brushes not getting that area clean. They sprayed that area but was told when I took it back to be re-washed that they no longer hand brush it only spray it. The second wash was not any better. I'm including a picture of the back after the second wash. Even after 2 washes I still had to clean bugs off my headlights and grill. The sides were pretty clean though. Not impressed. read more

UPDATED FROM 1 STAR: I drove through a few nights ago and was blown away by the level of wash job that was done. So bad I left a 1 star review and was not bashful about calling BS on the machines speed. BUT IM A FORGIVER, OR A FOOL (or both), so I went back. When I told the young girl about my last experience (as gently as I can say "this was total ", she told me..."why didn't you go back though again?" To which I replied "of what magic do you speak woman!"... and after a brief staring contest (yes I won), I was educated that this place allows for anyone to make a second pass if the first was not good enough. WHO KNEW!! Additionally, if you're out of time, you can always tell them and come back the next day. Ok that's pretty cool. I opted not to beat anyone senseless and to instead channeled my inner "Jesus" and gave them more money for another wash.... however I did use the vacuum for 15 minutes instead of the stated "5 minutes" rule, so BOOM BICHEZ. Normally a great car wash. I've been coming here since they opened and had no problems until today. Today I paid for an ultimate car wash, and got exactly what I paid for: My front license plate was bent in half by the time I left the car wash. Somehow, even though there was enough pressure to bend my plate in half, the front of my car was still dirty. I drove back to the queue of cars, and waited my turn to tell them about this and they were nice enough to let me go thru the wash again, at an attempt to clean the car again. The worker said that there was an option to turn the front brush off so that it wouldn't rip the rest of my plate off, and to tell the guys who do the windows that this brush should be turned off. Before finishing my description to the young man doing the windows, he told me that the computer was down, and that this wasn't an option. If I could have backed out, I would have. It's cleaner now, but I wouldn't use the word ultimate. And now I get to go to the happiest place on earth to deal with the plate. read more

I have always liked this place and I visited probably 3 to 4 times a week! Nice employees, they seem to like their job! Car wash is actually very nice. Sometimes I have to go through a second time to get all the bugs off... The only reason I took off one star is because a lot of times their vacuums aren't working or their vending machines are out of order. I have been through this car wash many times and never have I been so disappointed. I paid for the $20.00 wash and asked for an extra bug scrub on the front. She wrote the "B" on my windshield, but when I got up to the guys doing the spray down, they didn't even hardly spray the front of my car, let alone make any extra effort. So, needless to say, the front of my car looked like I had never washed it. Then around to the vacuums... I went to at least 3 different vacuum stalls and not one had any suction. Wouldn't pick up anything from my carpet, I finally gave up. Very disappointed. It's really gone down hill. read more
