Service was super rude. Store is very small and very cluttered. I felt claustrophobic. Most expensive gas prices around, too bad it's right by freeway for convenience. Too many people traveling probably go here and get a bad taste in their mouth about Chico. Based on employees attitude's alone. It's too bad. Idk why they're so highly rated. Everyone i know hates this place, almost as much as Dinomart by Walmart. The staff are so crazy. One girl smashed head onto counter and constantly cusses at other staff and customers. Dirty cars gross me out. Whether it's mine (which is rare because I'm all about a clean machine!) or someone else's. Just so happens it was my ride that was the dirty birdy on this occasion. Not familiar with car washes in the area, I found this one on Yelp :) It was conveniently located right off the freeway so off I went for a wash. I wasn't sure how clean my car would get from going through what looked like a very simple and quick "drive through" station but, any amount of improvement was better than nothing! I ran inside, paid for my "quick wash", and was told to enter the number on my receipt at the entrance to the car wash. Simple enough, just how I like it! Drove up to the entrance, dialed the digits on the pin pad and drive into the "dome". It was very quick, aprox 4-5 minutes and viola! Clean car! Well sort of... after the wash, I pulled over to dry my car off and give her a good vacuum. I noticed it still had bird poo on the hood and the back window but, I wasn't surprised. Seems like birds these days have cement doodoo and sometimes it's almost IMPOSSIBLE to get off. The quick wash actually got my car pretty clean and the vacuum was powerful too. Gave enough time for me to vacuum front, back AND the trunk area (only a buck got the whole car vacuumed)! Yeah baby! Nothing better than a clean ride, thanks Thorntons! read more

So I pulled in to the chevron on east Ave and I was waiting for my girlfriend to get out of the bathroom and the employee came over as said I had to leave and can't sit there and I told him I was waiting for her to get out of the bathroom and then he started cussing at me . Is this what kind of employees they hire wtf. I'll never go there again and that guy should get fired . If one of my employees did that to a customer for no reason I'd fire that person on the spot. I'll be contacting corporate and his boss. I spend a lot of money there but no more I'll find a different gas station that treats customers right. read more

Never reviewed a gas station before. BUt I am because they go out of their way here. I have seen attendants help elderly women pump gas and wash windshields on more than one occasion. It's pricier than other stops in town, but it IS Chevron gas, so there is that. Air to fill up tires Is ALWAYS free and turned on ALWAYS. I don't have to ever get out of my truck to ask them to turn it on for me. Bathrooms are even clean and easily accessible. And I haven't even mentioned the free car wash when you get at least 8 gallons of gas. They should surely be praised for their patronage here read more

Oh my goodness... despite the gas is 50 cents higher than the average gas station in town, we opted to go for the carwash. $3 discount if you buy gas. Doing the math, get gas elsewhere and buy a car wash (or have your kids do it for free). Pulling up to the car wash was a horrible odor. I'm guessing by the smell the water being used is recycled but not filtered. It smelled like I was dribble my car directly into a sewage treatment plant. Gave 2 stars because I'm going to assume the people working here are nice even though we didn't go in. Needless to say, I'll be getting gas and car wash elsewhere in the future. read more

Always always always always CLEAN! The station is always up to date, working pumps, window squeeze, paper towels, and it's well lit at night. I don't care they are "a little more" than other places, leaving here smiling and with a free car rinse is always a bonus. read more

I have lived in Chico my entire life and generally avoid Chevron because they're the most expensive for gas but recently I have discovered how great this place really is. I have had two different tires with slow leaks the past few weeks and their air pump is the BEST!!! You can just drive up and use it without having to pay or ask the attendant. It inflates your tires within seconds and has a working gauge. It just seems impossible to find air pumps that are reliable in this town... half the time they're out of order, etc. Also, the car wash is pretty decent and it's nice that it's free when you buy 8 gallons of gas. And lastly, their restrooms are clean and open. I thought I was going to pee my pants the other day and in the age of cOVID it's hard to find open restrooms... but theirs was open and clean. It's been almost three years since I wrote my first Thornton's review. Three years later they are as good as ever. The service, the cleanliness and the car wash are still great. There has been one improvement. They took one snack rack out of the store and it is now so much easier for customers to walk around without have to squeeze through tight areas. read more

As a birthday present, a family member had gotten me a Visa Gift Card, basically a debit-ish card you use wherever. Unbeknownst to me, using those at gas pumps doesn't always work, and in this case put a $60 charge on the card. Having talked to Bonnie (a manager, I believe) about the problem, she could have just said she'd wait for the charge to clear and reverse it as soon as it did, but said that would take a week or two, so instead invited me to just come in and she'd give me the $60 personally. Given that Visa's probably taking a chunk out of that $60, she's losing a bit of money just to make things right with me on a problem that isn't her fault to begin with! Really can't say enough good things about that customer service, especially given that $60 is a good portion of my food budget until payday. read more

Love getting my gas here! This is the nicest and cleanest gas station. It's clean, well maintained and so easy to pull up to the pumps. The staff is friendly, professional and courteous and we appreciate the nice smiles that greet us! Great job Thornton Chevron! read more

I've probably visited tens of thousands of gas stations across the US and the world. Thornton's has to be the most consistently clean station out of them all. Excellent attention to detail and the free car wash are reasons why I go out of my way to visit Thornton's. read more

I've gone to Thornton's off and on for many years. I got gas and a car wash there today. Of course during these times I wore a mask in order to help protect those around me. Unfortunately the employees at Thornton appear to be less concerned about my health than I am with their's. Neither of the two employees inside the gas station/store had face masks, nor was there any sort of protective plastic shield that you see at so many retail outlets these days. In the future, we will choose to patronize other gas stations/stores that do take our health concerns more seriously than Thornton's Chevron. read more

Why is there a yelp account that says to "see" another yelp account. They need to delete this. Gas station is alight but Chevron is expensive in general. I guess they have the high quality gas. I'm more of a costco gas person myself. Free car washes are cool but I would definitely upgrade to one with drying. read more

I can't believe that I'm reviewing a gas station but this place deserves it. We always stop at this gas station on our way out of town every time and I am always impressed. Its very clean, they constantly have sales on Vitamin waters and best of all, the staff is so friendly. They are always smiling and asking about my day. read more

What can I say. This chevron is awesome! Not only do they have techron so I don't have to get my injectors cleaned every 30,000 miles but they are open 24 hours a day and have a decent selection of food/drinks inside. read more

I have always had great service at Thorton's. It reminds me of the days when you could get full service. When I was in the other day the attendant noticed my tire needed air. He did not just tell me, he filled the tire. I would love to see full service return. Check the oil, wiper fluid and air pressure. 5 Stars This place keeps delivering a clean, well lit, courteous experience each visit. I usually drive an extra mile over to this station not just... for the free car wash with 8gallon fuel purchase, but because it doesn't have that filthy, sticky, greasy feeling that you get everywhere else. Since they put the extra effort into keeping the place neat, I'm more than willing to spend a few extra cents a gallon to support them. I think about the only thing I could ding this place on, would be the guy who's there in the mornings, Don or Ron? He seems very stiff and dry, no socializing/people skills, he probably needs a spot of grease in the jaw to loosen up the smile he doesn't show much of. Aside from him the rest of employees seem like a great crew. read more

Still the best maintained gas station I have ever experienced. I stopped by to fuel up with an out of town friend. He couldn't believe there was actual clean soapy water to properly wash your windshield. Even if the gas prices are a bit higher, they do accept Safeway gas rewards now. read more

I have been coming here for 20 years. This is my favorite gas station of all time. The gas price is high, but it is quality Chevron gas and you get a free car wash, open 24 hours. Favorite gas station of all time!! My car was recently damaged by the car wash (after using it incident-free for the last eight years). The following Monday morning, I notified Bonnie and Ron and they were more than accommodating in helping me 100% with the cost to repair. They were sympathetic, kind and very accessible.
