I have been through this car wash many times since it opened and would always have given it 4 stars until my last visit. My last visit resulted in many scratches down the driver's side of my vehicle that are deep, to the metal. I complained and first they did not get back to me. Then they said they found my complaint but that my car had not been there at the time I claimed the damage occurred, then the manager said it was pre-existing damage and looks like someone keyed my car, which is ridiculous. My car was egged and I needed a place to go where they would do some scrubbing and get this baby back to new! I had called ahead to tell them my situation and also to make sure this was something that they would be able accomodate. She assured me her team would give attention and care to my vehicle. She had also stated that I could go back thru for a re-wash until I felt like it had met my expectations. All of this was true and I left the car-wash with a clean car! She even gave me a $5 coupon to come back in case it happens again. Hopefully it doesn't but I was pleased with the service offered. Oh! And there's a free vaccuming area after your done. I live in Oxnard and have gone to the Surf thru there for a while now. Imagine my surprise when I came to Chico to drop of my moms new car I stopped here to get the bugs scrubbed off and found the Chico location. Surf through car wash is one of the best ideas I've seen I love the way they wash your car and the floor mat machine free vacuums this place is excellent probably the best car wash in Chico now you can join as a member, pay cash or use your card you have a couple of options for service including tire dressing and Rain-x application. you get a choice of air fresheners, a dash wipe and a trash bag ever time you come in. The price is great considering that you have a staff that scrubs the heavy stuff off the car before you go thru the tunnel, they have a cool brush that scrubs you tires and applies tire dressing at the same time when you pull out you can vacuum your car for free. After the wash we went to the vacuum station and they have great vacuums and also a air hose to blow all the stuff out of the nooks and cranny's of your car. the staff comes around to see if you have everything you need too. Between dropping quarters for the wash and for the vacuum. I have spent way more at the spray off car wash and not got as good of a job. This is my new goto scrub-a-Dub spot when in town! read more

This place is amazing. I am never ever going back to scrubs after this place!!! Friendly service! Helpful staff! Very clean! Before entering the car wash they scrubbed down your vehicle so make sure it gets really clean. They also train you how to get into the car wash if you've never seen it before. But there's also a large mirror if you look up that can help you guide you in. You're able to use the vacuum service with any car wash and you're able to vacuum out your car and take your time as long as there is no line otherwise it's a five minute limit. There are multiple bays to vacuum & high power air brush your car! The vacuums are very conveniently located. There are two vacuums On each side of your vehicle so you never have to snake the hose from one side of the car to the other. Also one of the staff members informed me that if you would just like to vacuum your vehicle for two dollars you're allowed to do so! After this experience, I am NEVER going anywhere else! nothing compares to this place if you want to do it yourself and get the job done well come here! I've been through this car wash several times and they always turn the top scrubber for my roof rack on. Literally been going here for years now never had an issue. But today the "supervisor" with the scrub brush at 1:40 pm shut down half the wash and then proceeded to wash my trucks hood with the shitty ass scrub brush they have been dipping in a bucket of dirty water. Guess it's time to do it my self. Also there should be a sensor for the tire shine. Because it shines half my tires and I have little tires for a truck. Step it up. read more

Three times now I've paid for their "ultimate" wash and gotten a cheaper wash. Make sure you check at the end of your wash to be sure you got the wash you paid for. Watch the employees who wave you into the tire lanes/slots before the car wash. There was a car behind me, and they waved that car into a position that was practically tailgating my car through the car wash. I couldn't even see the front of the car behind me through the rear view mirror. I was afraid that, when I momentarily braked my car to shift into drive at the end of the car wash. the car behind me would rear end me. It's a great way to keep your car clean and shiny and running great because we know when things look good they run good and it's way more fun to drive a nice car. I'm going to take a guess here and believe Todd the owner does not care that much about customer feedback from his business Surf Thru car wash. My husband and I have tried honestly too many times to give this car wash our business but the quality and customer service is so low that we'll go to Scrubs from now on. The first time we used the car wash when it first opened we had to go right back and let them know the car didn't get fully washed. There hasn't been a time where our car or our truck hasn't had to go through twice to get washed and honestly even twice it's still not done completely. But the last straw was the other day I went through and had some berry stuff from birds under my rear windshield and I went through and berries were still there after going through their car wash! I, of course, went through again but this time asked to speak with the manager and they said they can't tell me who the manager is! This is so beyond unacceptable business practices. Second, I asked to speak with the regional manager and they gave me lip service and I never got a call from the RM of course. They are about to raise their rates for a not cheap as it is a car wash that is at most substandard. What I like about this car wash is the fact that I'm in and out fairly quickly, even when there's been several cars in front of me in the line and the cashiers are usually always friendly. Don't like: The guys doing the brush before the wash always look like they'd rather be anywhere else (I would too) but it's just kind of annoying; like how dare I make them lift their arms... I do not like the brush touching the body of the car, a brush should never touch the body of the car; they need to just focus on windows, licence plate, and headlights. One BIG problem I have here is the insufficient amount of water for the rinse, there's still soap on parts of the car after the rinse and the blower just blows it off. I've had soap in my car door after driving home before, this is not okay for the paint and it leaves an icky residue. They either need to add rinse spray on the sides too or just add more pressure. I don't expect perfection as far as the actual cleaning goes, I mean, it's a drive thru, but at the least I expect pleasant faces and for the soap to be rinsed off completely. read more

Love the car wash, I am an ultimate monthly holder for the 29.99. Few issues with this location though, my side mirrors are covered in soap still every time I pull out. I have tried mirrors in, mirrors out, nothing makes a difference. The backend/tailgate/wheel wells don't get cleaned well and are still just as dirty when I pull out. Sadly the Surf Thru on esplanade is a better car wash overall but out of the way. read more

Looks like the maintenance at the Forest Avenue site is worsening as the days go by. Went today, mid-afternoon with a gift card with several pre-paid washes still valid. I was told that my pre-paid washes did not include any air fresheners and "did I want to buy one"? What a joke!! You pay for 6 washes in advance, give them your money up front and then they make you pay for something that probably cost .05 or less each??? What a rip-off!!! Besides within the wash the right-hand side brush was not working (not spinning) so the dirt on that side was NOT REMOVED. Also, neither was the right-side tire scrubber as the very light coat of mud on the tire was not disturbed in the least. WHO IS IN CHARGE OF MAINTENANCE? The vacuum area floor is full of trash and crap all over the parking spots. I've never seen any employee cleaning up the area. Several of the vacuum hoses are missing or have no suction. read more

i have a love hate relationship with this place, however over the last 2 years I have kept my membership and I think after this month I will be cancelling it. A big perk of this membership is the free air scents, which I have found out is now limited to (1) if you pay for the most expensive membership, and you have to pay for them now if you do not have the highest membership. TLDR: Best buy for a quick cleaning in between more detailed exterior cleans. Feather touch machines with a quick scrub by two employees and self vacuum services. Trying to find a place that can actually clean your car can be challenging. There's Scrubbs, which sometimes does a good job but at least they hand wash and vacuum your car, and then there's the express washes around town that does a quick job, but those dead bugs are still stuck to your car. So after reading all the reviews here, I decided to give it a go. I didn't know what to expect. There's a self-pay/member line and a cashier line. In the cashier line it looks like you can buy drinks, snacks, and other things for your car. I went through self-pay and got the most expensive wash ($13 with free vacuuming). It came with a $5 coupon off my next wash. I was hoping they might have an option to have someone handwash and vacuum since my back has been out for a few weeks, but there were none. Two guys scrub the front and back windshield of your car while it goes on the conveyer belt. This is not a touchless machine, which I wish I had known since I have the Cilajet protectant and I'm only suppose to go through touchless car washes with. No having to try to figure out the drying part either, it drys your car while it's still on the conveyer belt. It doesn't get all the water, but most. There were still lots of dead bugs on my car and the windshield, though scrubbed by the employees, still had gunk on them. I hand dried the rest of my car then got to vacuuming. They did a decent job, but my dog likes to leave dog hair all over my car, which the vacuums could not get. Overall, not too bad for the price. Would not recommend after road trips where you're car is covered in bugs. Oh, and the entrance is confusing. But once you get it down it all makes sense. Definitely the best spot in town for a machine wash, but again, they don't offer touchless so I probably won't be back with my car. read more

80% of the time that I've gone through this car wash, which has been probably 10 times, I have had issues. Multiple examples of the car not being cleaned thoroughly enough where it leaves bee or bird poop on the paint even though I've gone through twice, The last visit my car was a little bit too low so the washing machine didn't even touch my hood or my trunk. This last time I waited in line and went through and the machine never even turned on so I came out the other end with soap and crud all over my paint and waited to speak with attendant. They wanted me to go wait in line with another five cars in front of me. I asked them to please refund my eight dollars for the car wash since the machine didn't turn on and they refused to refund and wanted to offer me a voucher to get my car washed again. The very nice attendant and manager said that the corporate policy is that they do not offer refunds. I said that based on the number of issues I've had that I thought it would be fair to make an exception and they still said that there was no way to do it. The machinery that they use doesn't work well, but they are very friendly people. Bad business practice in my opinion. Won't be back although against my better judgment I've tried them way too many times. My new favorite car wash in town! The staff are always friendly. I love the trash bag and dash wipe you get when you pay along with your choice of air freshener! They always have a lollipop for my kids and have even drawn a pic on their window with the wax marker! No having to take the kids out of the car and just putting it in neutral is awesome! The attendants scrub the car then we go through the wash! The lights and fun colors are always a hit! The tire shine is great! Last so long and makes the car look even cleaner! The FREE vacuums and compressed air took is fantastic! 2 on each side of the vehicle make it very quick and easy! There's a vending machine to buy glass cleaner, armor all wipes, towels and microfiber clothes as well as a mat washing machine! All of this under covered parking spaces! Best part...the ultimate wash (what I talked about above) is only $13!!!! And they have monthly memberships for $30! Save water and use this place! Not only did they think of literally everything I would need, the customer service was excellent! Damaged my vehicle, waited THREE WEEKS for a resolution for the claim which they DENIED. My Subaru is my pride and joy and I had second thoughts about taking it through the car wash before anything even happened. Also I have full insurance on my vehicle and I am a patient, reasonable, and detail oriented person. On 11/06/2018 @1:05pm I arrived at the Chico location and purchased the "Ultimate Wash" for my 2016 Suabru wrx in Crystal Black Silica and in the middle of the wash I hear a popping sound from the rear of my roof, upon exiting the wash I immediately went to the vacuum area to inspect the car and it was a disaster! My sharkfin antennae on my roof had been cracked on one side and there are scratches on the car from debris on their bristles. After I noticed the damage I walked back over to the associate and informed them of the damage, after this point I waited for the manager on site and she seemed polite at first and I explained what had happened and walked her back over to my vehicle and showed her the damage. She denied that the damage could have occurred from the car wash and after I insisted that the scratches were not there she reluctantly took a couple of pictures and asked me to sign some paperwork for a claim. After I had completed the necessary paperwork I asked how long I could expect to wait to hear a resolution from the company about the claim and she said that she "couldn't guarantee that it would be done today, but it would be completed by the end of the week". Fast forward to waiting patiently for two weeks* and I still had not been contacted by the company, so I called the back on Tuesday 11/20/2018 @ 12:05pm and contacted an associate politely and informed them that I had filed a claim but I had not heard anything back and the associate assured me that a manager would contact me back that day. Sure enough I received a voicemail about the claim that I was supposed to be filed on November 6th and they informed me that the manager had failed to submit my claim to their proper superiors, but that they sent an email to their superiors and that I should hear back from them by the end of today or tomorrow and that they would be sure to have whoever is coming in tomorrow to contact me. After waiting another week with no response I contacted them yet again on 11/27/2018 @ 12:13pm only to speak with the initial manager that I filed the claim with that failed to competently file the claim in a timely manner. After being patient and curious she informed me that they decided not to validate my claim, she said that if there was debris in the bristles they it would have scratched "5 cars" after me as well which contradicts her initial statement that the scratches could not have been inflicted by the car wash, this did not provide an intelligent response or justify that the wash did not damage my vehicle. Just because other customers neglected to find or report damage does not justify that there was not any damage done to my vehicle by the car wash. Furthermore, she stated that her manager denied that the antennae was damaged due to video footage, when I asked for supplemental video footage of the vacuum area she said that those were purged every thirty days and she did not know if they had been purged as of yet, and by her neglecting to process the claim in a timely manner may result in this video not being available as evidence. She refused to provide a superior's phone number and said that she would only pass on my information to her account manager and said that they could not replace every shark fin antennae that gets damaged. I made every available attempt to keep this from escalating to a small claims court filing and informed the manager of this as well. I then called Vanessa the Guest Service Associate for Surf Thru car wash on 11/27/2018 and left a detailed message about the situation and asked her to call me back and have not received a response. I work as a valet in the area and I know that claims must be filed with our claims department are to be filed within 24-48 hours at the latest, furthermore I detailed by own vehicle on October 20th and took a nice walk around video after the wax job and there are clearly no scratches to the paint before I took the vehicle to the car wash. Furthermore to have to wait 21 DAYS to receive any finalized response is completely unjustifiable under any circumstances. Bottom line save yourself time and money by not taking your vehicle through this horrendous business which will result in damage to your vehicle and their irresponsible employees clearly will not follow proper procedures and you will end up having to go to small claims court just to have your vehicle repaired. Would give ZERO stars if possible. read more
