Amazing Macan Pistacio ice cream sandwich! I have celiac and it was great no side effects

I can not wait to go back, with friends or solo! This was by far the sweetest (pun intended) iced cream shop I have been to in a long time. Let's start with location. Great size parking lot, sounds like they get a LOT of customers based off their signs. And they do have a lot, so you know exactly what to expect. The whole house is beautiful, love their decor and the cute way people hide money in the cracks and crevices of the establishment. This is the second place I have been to that I've seen this done. My younger one hid a quarter of her own. Also, wish we weren't rushing out so quickly to head to our next spot because I would have loved some cute merch! T-shirts, hoodies, bags, cups, etc. The establishment is clean, well maintained, and overall a total OBX vibe. Lots of sitting areas inside and outside on the porch. Service was cool, younger highschool kids mainly, they had a lot of them at the counter. I didn't need any help but they seem ready and willing to be at service. No complaints. They also offer military discount. A+ for our active military and veterans. The ice cream was great. Think froyo style places where it's based off weight. I had a mixture of Vanilla, pretzel, and cheesecake. I liked the cheesecake best especially with the cheesecake toppings. My friend got an ice cream sandwich, note she isn't a super sweets person but she really enjoyed it. She did say the cookie part of the sandwich was a bit too sugary for her personally. Me on the other hand, bring on the sugar. The kids had an awesome time selecting their ice cream and toppings. Every one of them loved being able to make their own decisions and create exactly what they wanted. As for the toppings I do wish they had crushed graham crackers, would have been great with the cheesecake bites. Note* Slowly pull the handle for ice cream. Some come out way faster than others and you end up with a way too filled bowl. Overall an excellent experience and a certified Surfin' Spoon roadie! Heard a lot of good things about Sufin Spoon online so my boyfriend and I were excited to try. We waited about 40ish minutes in line which we didn't mind (but just a heads up it tends to be packed at night). My expectations were high and I did go into this place thinking it was predominantly frozen yogurt, which they only had 4 froyo flavors and the rest were gelato which was disappointing. Peach, Cheesecake, White Chocolate and Caramel Sea Salt were the flavors which they weren't bad but i just thought they had a larger selection of froyo. The space is really nice, cozy, lots of seating, and spacious. Definitely a nice space to enjoy your treat. Overall my experience was alright, like i said, i went into thinking this was mainly a frozen yogurt spot with some ice cream selections because most of the stuff i saw online did promote it as that. i do wish they had an online menu of their flavors to know ahead of time what i want to get. I've been dying to check this place out as I see it all over TikTok. The inside is soooo cute! I like that you can customize your bowl of froyo to your liking. I got cookies n cream as well as cake batter. Surfin' Spoon was absolutely amazing on our recent visit to the Outer Banks of North Carolina. They have different self-serve machines, numerous flavors, and so many delicious toppings! It's based on weight(I believe 70 cents per ounce).... If you get there early enough, you might be in line for 10-15 minutes: after that it could be upwards of 45-60 minutes with long lines wrapped around the building (and down the street!!)...I highly recommend getting there on the earlier side! Well worth the wait, even though it took about 40 minutes on a weekday evening! The frozen yogurt was so creamy, flavorful and fresh. I tend to be an icecream person but this visit convinced me to give frozen yogurt more of a chance. My favorite flavor was the cake batter which was melt-in-your mouth perfect. Also plenty of toppings to choose from and reasonable prices (weighed by the oz). Plenty of seating inside and outside. Parking is limited, so you may need to park at a public beach access nearby. Great place. It's soft serve ice cream and they have tons of toppings to choose from as well as a couple other options besides soft serve. Staff is always nice and the place is clean and prices are fair. My only complaint is the parking lot situation. I'm not sure how much the business owner can actually do about it but this parking lot is quickly becoming very dangerous to our community. Lots of tourist ( no offense to the tourists i understand not knowing your way around ) they stop to look and try to see spots from the main road etc.. the entrance/exit is VERY NARROW and there's only one so that causes more issues and there are constantly people just walking into traffic without looking, which doesn't matter if you're local or not that's just dumb. So though I recommend the product itself I would highly suggest you try and go off peak hours because this place is a traffic accident waiting to happen. The town leadership should really look into some sort of way to help this local business owner who pays a ton of taxes I'm sure.. he's a super nice guy and I know if there was some way he could help the situation he would. Hopefully local government reads this and can maybe manage to do their job. read more

Our group of 4 stopped in after having dinner nearby. We all really wanted an ice cream treat and Surfin' Spoon was high on the list of places to try while in the OBX. We arrived, were greeted at the door then got in the very long line. We selected our cups and picked from an assortment of soft serve flavors then added toppings around the corner. We paid then grabbed a table outside. We waited about 25 minutes from joining the line to enjoying our treats. We all thought the soft serve was decent but nothing special. The flavors were mild and none of them really stood out. It was just like every other "fro-yo" spot. They did have a nice selection of toppings and I enjoyed the outdoor seating. Overall, I thought it was overhyped and not worth the longer wait times. If you are looking for basic soft serve, give them a try. read more

During our visit to Naga Head we stopped in two separate times for the great ice cream sandwiches. First visit I got the vegan mint chocolate and my husband got the classic chocolate chip cookie with vanilla. I preferred his chocolate chip cookie texture to the mint which was a little less chewy. On the second visit I tried the Macaroon and Pistachio while my husband tried the vegan chocolate chocolate. Again his was soft and chewy while the macaroon cookie was a bit disappointing. The macaroon cookie was too hard and there wasn't enough pistachio flavor in the ice cream so all I tasted was coconut. So I highly recommend going with the classic chocolate chip cookie or the chocolate cookie with chocolate ice cream. Warming it gets crowded during the summer. Both visit there was not enough parking so cars had to wait on the road. Once you got a parking spot the line for frozen yogurt was sometimes out the door. On rainy nights, the entire and covered space is limited for dining there. read more

Oh my. WOW. This is my FAVORITE new find on the OBX. Locally owned makes it even better. We stopped by here after dinner one night this week. It did NOT disappoint! This place is self-serve. When you come in one of the employees will direct you where to start. You grab a bowl, or whatever you're getting, and pile on whatever you want. The price you pay is based on the weight. They also have ice cream sandwiches that are divine. The Walk The Plank is my favorite so far. We bought 12 (you get one free that way) -- they put them in a box and we took them home. Lots of room in here to sit if you like. They also have their own merch. My advice is to skip dessert if you're eating lunch/dinner out, and just come here instead.
