The food here is always great, and a good bang for your buck. The quesadillas are always a favorite and the Bermuda Triangle is phenomenal. However, they are unwilling to accommodate for dietary preferences. My family is gluten intolerant and request corn tortillas on our quesadillas. About half of the servers will place this order for me, and half will not allow me to order it. Because of this unfortunately anyone who is GF has very limited options. The food was quite tasty - we shared appetizers and the pork belly sliders were awesome. the shrimp egg rolls were very tasty and the guacamole is delish .The cocktails were very good. I am a big fan of Surfside and have eaten there more than any other restaurant since I moved to the AU Park area a few months ago. The food is great, service is usually pretty good, and the drinks are fantastic. However, I had a very disappointing experience there last Thursday night that I wanted to share so that people are aware. I had made a reservation for a group of friends to sit on the patio. We are only doing outdoor dining in light of the pandemic, and one of our favorite things about Surfside is that you can specify if your reservation is for the patio or the dining room -- we always pick patio. When we arrived, however, we were told that we would have to be seated inside because there was a large private event on the patio. I was a little annoyed that no one had told me about that in advance (surely they knew), but it wasn't the end of the world. But what happened next is what really frustrated me: the host tried to tell me that I was the one who had made a reservation for the dining room and not the patio, blaming me for messing up. I took out my phone and showed him that my reservation clearly said patio. He then said, "oh, they must have changed it on our end then after you made it." It is absolutely unacceptable during a PANDEMIC for a restaurant to unilaterally change an outdoor reservation to an indoor reservation WITHOUT ADVISING THE PATRON who made the reservation. I understand that private events come up and that restaurants do not have it easy these days, but if you will be unable to seat someone with a patio reservation outdoors, give them the courtesy of a heads-up instead of telling them they did something wrong. I had a few friends who had come all the way across town and were not pleased. I like Surfside a lot, but I do hope they change this practice going forward and offer me an apology. read more

I'll have to give this place another chance, but first experience was bad. Food was mediocre and service was very poor. Waitress took our order, then we didn't see her again until we needed check. I asked 4 different people to have her come back for a 2nd drink order. I was done eating by the time she got back and my 2nd drink arrived she finally asked if everything was ok. She looked at dumbfounded when I told her I had been waiting 20 minutes for a drink order, never said sorry, etc. the place was not busy and she only had one other table. Enchiladas (shrimp and spinach) "Barbados" were bland. On a good note, my wife enjoyed her fried chicken tacos. Margarita was so so. All in all, a underwhelming 1st visit. read more

Let me tell you, this area NEEDS a spot like this! I decided to venture out of confinement to grab some food and spotted Surfside's 24hour taco bar. There was a pretty hefty line with other likeminded folks. Considering all that's going on with the Coronavirus etc... I was SO impressed with how the staff handled the crowd. There was a 10min wait just to order (that's how slammed they were) - but whoever was operating the cash register had such a sense of humor and was very accommodating, even offering those who'd been waiting for a while and were of age, free margaritas. The food was delicious...I highly recommend the neves...and the margarita was delicious. SO happy this spot finally opened up. Looking forward to going back read more

Ordered the Cabo steak tacos to go -- all seemed well on the menu, typical taco with onions, cilantro, even guacamole. Description said the tacos came on flour tortillas and while I usually prefer corn I decided not to make any changes to the tacos. Then I got my order. At that point I understood why they used flour tortillas. The tacos was overflowing with toppings. Usually that would be a good thing, but between the astronomical levels of salt they must use while cooking their steak, their runny guacamole and sour cream that drench the taco plus thick cut onions, red and green peppers on and cilantro, it was chaos in a bite. The salt from the steak overpowered everything and there was way too much guac and sour cream. Their rice, which came under the tacos, was amazing. We've dined here three times this summer and the experience has been amazing! First, their new location is super nice with free parking and plenty of appropriately distanced. The guacamole is excellent along with all the different drinks and dishes we've tried. A real plus are the reservations for outdoor seating. Looking forward to returning! read more

Food is good. Owner I know and value. But my god what horrible, high school waiters. Rarely do they service your table. It took 8 minutes to get a menu with only 3 tables occupied. Adolescent server brings us the check after I gave him the credit card and then asks if we need anything else.... I can provide 4 other examples of horrid service. What happened? Surfside used to be a passably good casual dining restaurant, but we had a terrible experience last night with bad food, unbearable din, and a horrible singer. The tacos were really bad, with dry, crispy pork cubes, tasteless brisket, and tough corn tortillas. You had the impression the meat had been sitting around for hours, if not days. The brisket taco had a fried tortilla (not noted on the menu) which made it only tougher. The singer was inexpressibly bad but with an amplifier simply added to the din of a full-capacity patio. No wonder the server got our drinks order wrong -- she couldn't hear them. We have gone to Surfside for years, including patio dining last summer during the pandemic. You have to think there's new management or a new chef or both for deterioration of this magnitude. We will never go back and recommend to people to stay away. read more

Surfside is owned by a Family who has several other eateries. The food here is good- however very small reduced portions now and prices went way up-overpriced for sure. They will charge for the smallest item including extra sauce! I asked for more rice for my Seycheles in a bowl versus burrito -they stuff the burrito full of rice but I could not even see the rice in the 'bowl' the manager came out and said'its there under the lettuce'- laughable- he then came out with 'extra rice' which was in a tiny condiment container if you can believe it! The MUSIC is so loud it is a nightclub experience and they WILL NOT turn it down - we have asked on several trips- manager literally came out and said NO-we never dine in. The Managers in all of their Places are snotty and rude. read more

Martha's vineyard was pretty great as far as quesadillas go, and the shrimp tacos (forgot the name of the item) was definitely solidly good too. They definitely use fresh ingredients and are considerate of the flavor palate for each item. read more

I know we are dealing with COVID-19 and we all have to be patient, but when I went to go pick up my delivery order, I was initially ignored by the staff. That happens from time to time, so that's not the whole reason this restaurant is getting two stars from me. I had ordered a burrito bowl and a burrito for my boyfriend. Both orders were mostly this fluorescent yellow, sticky rice with very little meat or vegetables and no beans. I would say overall the food was flavorless. For the two orders and 4 oz. of guac we ordered, we paid $32. I'd say this is a place to skip if you are looking for really good Tex Mex. read more

This restaurant used to take allergy requests seriously and the food and service was amazing. Preferences noted and largely addressed. Allergies were carefully accommodated. But, a recent delivery order ignored ONLY allergy requests (two out of many in a large order) -- every other adjustment arrived as requested. read more

Like several others on this thread, I wonder why I bothered ordering on-line, only to stand in a confused, disorganized line waiting another 10 minutes to pick up a simple order. Worse, the clerk eventually took my name, searched the dozen bags on the counter, "asked in the back," told me "it was being prepared," searched the waiting bags again and, voila, my order was in plain sight on the counter the entire time. Worst of all was the [cold] food: the salmon bowl was swimming in vinegar, the chicken bowl was almost inedible, and the "braised beans" were drenched in salt. Tell me again why I clicked a 20% tip in advance for a disastrous pickup order? Dear Surfside: invest $1 in two signs: one that says "order here" and one that says "pick up here." Did a Coronalife takeout scenario from here (ordered online thru their website). Was pleasantly surprised. The food I had here (first time trying their food) was really good. (The "Salsa Trio" that comes with chips, the "Island Nachos" with ground beef added, and the Buck Island salad-- i subbed the dressing with the Lime Ginger vinaigrette, and a side order of lime cilantro rice) (their tortilla chips are particularly good, and their salsas /sauces/dips were excellent too, the "Salsa Trio" is worth the price). As other reviewers have said, granted, slightly on the pricey side, but portions were good, staff was hospitable, and I enjoyed my food / food was solid. They've gained a new regular customer.
