    Maui tacos

My friends and I really enjoyed our experience here. We sat indoors right by the outdoor patio. Our group dined on a Tuesday where the taco Tuesday special was an extra taco with the 2 tacos that are already included. You can pick and choose whether you want the same kind of taco or something different. We ordered the Island Nachos, birria, Cabo San Lucas and Maui tacos. The consume broth was so rich and the Branzino was cooked perfectly. Everything was delicious and made fresh. The food came out very fast. Yes the prices are at a premium here but you get a lot of protein and some rice with the entrees as well. Our server was great and parking was free after 5 pm during the week.

A very tasty restaurant in Tenleytown DC! My friend and I devoured the dip trio and the enchiladas. I also loved that they gave us a water pitcher to start the night! That way, we weren't dependent on flagging someone down for refills. I really enjoyed the open space--a lot was happening! Our servers were very kind and prompt as well. You should check it out!

It was my first time here recently and this is a great place. The food is good and there's a large selection. Service is awesome. The food comes out pretty quickly even if it's busy. The interior is huge and nicely decorated and you can come here for sports. There's a separate room for private parties. They have a very good happy hour. I would come back here again if I'm in the area!

Stacking up on fees. Watch out for the 3% surcharge on all checks. They do have the legally obligated small print but obviously want to lure you in with lower prices. I didn't like the deceitful nature. Decent place. Very chill atmosphere. I enjoyed my St. John sandwich! We also had the Tres Leches and I really liked the cake, but they put this fake strawberry corn syrup thing on top. Either put a real strawberry or don't put anything. The fake stuff brings down your quality. Our wait staff was super friendly.

It's always a great time at #Surfside!!! I can't believe I haven done a review here (as many times that I have visited). The Tacos are always fierce, But today I got to try some different things like the jerk wings (Amazinggggg) and their Margarita (strawberry) was to die for! I heard so many good things about their cocktails so I was happy I got a chance to try it today. Another good meal in the books! Thanks surfside for making my stomach and spirit happy !

After an afternoon of estate sale shopping, my friend and I stopped for a lovely lunch at Surfside. Being a beautiful day, we sat outside and took in the sunshine. I enjoyed. The BELIZE $16.95Grilled marinated steak, grilled poblano peppers and onions, and Monterey Jack cheese in a grilled flour tortilla. There was enough food for me to take half of it home. The waitress was quick and efficient and the staff was very friendly. The only negative thing was it was difficult to get into the parking lot without getting someone to open the door from the restaurant, fortunately we were able to park in the street. Also, the gender neutral bathrooms were very clean.

Two words- frozen margaritas. Surfside sells them in strawberry and lime and they come in generously sized glasses, strong, and delicious! I could drink two every time. Located inside a massive space once the site of a Ruby Tuesday, Surfside sells tacos and more. Most nights they have specials like on Mondays when kids eat free or buy two, get one free Taco Tuesdays. If you love shrimp, get the "Nevis" on flour tortillas. They are large tacos that come with jumbo shrimp and side of really good yellow rice. Service is attentive and prompt.

I've been visiting Surfside's various establishments for over 9 years. Surfside is just a solid restaurant for brunch, lunch, and dinner. I like their Tenleytown location because they have parking so it makes it easier to meet up with friends who drive. I love their tiki drinks, and I haven't tried anything on their menu I haven't liked. My favorites to order are: Martinique (shrimp) burrito, O'ahu seared tuna bowl, Nevis (shrimp) tacos, Buck Island (salmon) salad, and Belize (steak) quesadilla. For appetizers, I LOVE their queso and Island Nachos. I wouldn't order the Bermuda Triangle because the bowls with the salsa and queso are just so small, it's not worth it. My favorite cocktail there is their Mai Tai. Makes me feel like I'm on vacation. :) Definitely a solid casual restaurant to visit. I'm also a fan of their taco stand in Dupont Circle.

    Ask the Community - Surfside

Do they have a happy hour?

    I think so!

    Is the outdoor seating heated?

Yes, with portable outdoor heaters. You might need to ask a staff member to move the heater closer to your table, though, especially if it's very chilly outside.

The hostess was very sweet and I got to take advantage of the nice weather and sit outside. It's taco Tuesday, so the hostess and the server both reminded me it was "buy one get one free" - a great deal! I decided to go big and try four tacos, and all of them were very good! I'm from Southern California, so usually am picky about tacos, and some of these really exceeded my expectation. Al pastor: very tender and flavorful. A teeny bit dry, but perfect with the red salsa they brought for the table. Beef birria: nice and crispy tortilla, the consommé was very fragrant and not too salty, and they were generous with the beef. As normal with birria, it's a bit heavier/oilier, so one was enough, but it's very good! Baja fish: probably one of the favs! I made the mistake of leaving it to last, so the outside of the fish was a little less crispy, but if you eat it sooner, that shouldn't be an issue. The piece of fish was very large and cooked perfectly (very flaky). The flavor was great, especially with that red salsa. Avocado tostada: generous toppings, great flavor balance, fun crunch with very soft toppings. If you've ever eaten a tostada, you know you have to approach it like I imagine people approach skittish horses: with total confidence, even if you know it'll end up as a mess on the place. Otherwise, service was very quick and friendly and they didn't come and bother me during the meal, which I love. It really filled up while I was eating, such a testament to how good this place is. I definitely can't wait to come back!

They taste like my favorite churros that I've been looking to replace (I moved). It's really hard to find a churro I actually like and this is one of them. The burrito was delicious! The birria and carne asada tacos were good! Very juicy and filling! The tortillas are also really good! Everything is extremely fresh and filling. They give you a lot of chips. While normally opting for tender Beef Tongue (Lengua) I can get it, this was the first time I saw lamb, specifically Lamb Barbeque (Barbacoa de Borrego) on any Mexican menu, so decided to try it out in a corn tortilla Quesadilla. It arrived freshly prepared not as a flat quesadilla I'm accustomed to, but more like two giant tacos. (See pic.) This sizable portion came with a red and green salsas, so I tried one on each. Both were good additions, but the red one cleared my sinuses! Definitely recommend El Jalapeño! Look forward to a future visit to Bethesda to trying something with their tongue the next

We started with the Shrimp & Mango Ceviche, which was incredibly refreshing. The combination of avocado, mango pico, jalapeño, radish, cilantro, and fresh lime juice created the perfect balance of sweet, citrusy, and just the right amount of heat. The Elote was another standout. The grilled corn topped with their signature sauce, cotija cheese, and guajillo powder was creamy, savory, and packed with flavor. It's a must-order. For tacos, I tried the Ancho Shrimp Taco, which was topped with chile-lime sauce, red cabbage, and pico de gallo. It was flavorful, well-balanced, and one of my favorites from the meal. I also had the Carne Asada Street Tacos with pico de gallo added, and they were simple, fresh, and delicious. Another favorite was the Blackened Salmon Taco. The blackened salmon paired perfectly with the jalapeño sauce, red cabbage, charred corn, and cilantro, making every bite full of flavor. I also ordered the Chicken Rice Bowl, which came with pico de gallo, charred corn, crema, and guajillo sauce. It was filling, well-seasoned, and a great option if you're looking for something other than tacos. To top it all off, I tried one of their margaritas. They offer them frozen or on the rocks, and I highly recommend the frozen version--it was refreshing and the perfect pairing with the meal. The service was friendly, the food came out quickly, and everything exceeded my expectations.
