We have had a previous bad experience in the past but wanted to give a local establishment another chance. Sorry to say, another horrific customer experience. We sat at the bar for nearly 15 minutes, no acknowledgement from bartender. The restaurant was modestly busy, but not hectic. We realized being a regular was far more important to the staff. Can not critique the food because we finally left after 15 minutes of being ignored. We work in the service industry, understand being busy. But acknowledge your clients. It goes a long way. I stopped in Surve around 3pm for a late lunch on a Friday. I always prefer to be in the old parts of towns instead of the new retail/fast food stuff, and this place is on the square. It's a nice location if you're out that way, and it's added a few nice looking places since the last time I rode through. Surve is clean and bright, and the gal that welcomed me in was super nice. They have a fast casual counter deal on one side, and a full table-service area and bar on the other. I let them wait on me, and my waitress was a sweetheart. Very attentive, very friendly, and very efficient. I kept it simple with a BLT, but you can tell a lot about a restaurant by the quality of a simple thing like that. The bacon was both crispy and warm - not cold and chewy like a lot of places - the tomato was nice and ripe, the lettuce was crispy, and there you have it. It was a good sandwich. Unfortunately, they were having some kind of issue with the fryers, so I couldn't try their fresh cut fries (or anything else deep fried). I chose the mac-n-cheese instead, and it was pretty good. I noticed that the bar had a draft list and other good stuff, but it was lunchtime and I was on the bike, so I had to pass. Anyway, I would recommend Surve if you are looking for some simple but interesting casual food and drinks in a clean, friendly place. read more

I have worked in the area for two years and have eaten at Surve at least once a week. My go to gas always been a fillet, mashed potatoes with gravy, and a Caesar salad. I honestly have never had a bad dinner here. The restaurant is divided in half with one side having a bar and traditional service. The other half is pay when you order and self serve drinks. The last thing to say is that the staff very pleasant and welcoming. I never experienced anything but great and friendly service. read more

Surve is located in downtown Sunbury, Ohio. This charming restaurant has some delicious food. I had the chili cheeseburger and it was absolutely amazing. The chili was flavorful and the burger was nice and juicy. They have two different areas in this restaurant. One area is dining where you are served at your table. The other area, you place your order at the register and they bring your food out to you. The service was fast and friendly and the food was delicious. Stopped by for lunch today while showing my aunt around the area. The place was fairly busy given that it was lunch time, but we found seats at the bar. It had been awhile since I'd eaten here, so I was surprised by the growth of the menu. There's plenty of options for all styles of eating, reasonable prices, and now an extensive drink menu on the back. Our server behind the bar was super sweet and answered all of ours questions. I ordered the Buffalo chicken sliders with Brussels sprouts, while my aunt ordered the chili cheeseburger with Brussels sprouts as well (and no bun). Both of us devoured our meals. The Buffalo chicken dip was very flavorful, but not very spicy. It was fresh and went great with the little corn sliders. The brussels sprouts are my favorite side to get here as well, and they did not disappoint. I high recommend this small place if you're in the area. The Food is always high quality and the prices are very reasonable. The Restaurant has two sides, one for full service dining, and the other for quick-order where you can either eat in or take it to-go. Surve is an interesting restaurant. In half of the restaurant, you order at the counter, find a table and they bring your meal out to you, In the other half of the restaurant, they offer full table service. On both of our visits to Surve, we've opted to order at the counter and have our meals brought out to us. The staff is very friendly and professional and our service (both times) was excellent. My wife has tried their salmon and the grilled Rueben. I opted for burgers - both times. The food is also excellent. The dining area is bright and cherry - this is a delighful place to visit. Note - both of our visits were at LUNCH time. We've not been here for dinner. read more

Food was excellent! Hubs ordered the french dip with fries. The portion was generous and the beef was well-seasoned. I ordered the house salad adding protein. My portion was small but in line with the price - no complaints. I ended up ordering a second house salad and was satisfied. Customers order at the counter and the food is delivered to the table you choose. Surve had an abundance of staff. Everyone was polite, professional and willing to help. Drinks were self service and no one followed up at the table. In my opinion, this distracted from the meal enjoyment. Surve sits in the town square. First let me say that the food was very delicious and we'll be back for more. What was lacking is good service in the bar area. We sat in the seats for almost 6 minutes before being acknowledged by the person behind the bar, then was told who our server would be. Another 5 minutes pass before being offered a beverage by the hostess at the door. Another wait. Finally, 15 minutes in, we get drinks and server comes over to take our order. Once acknowledged and our food was ordered/delivered, there was no follow up service - until we flagged it down. No offer of a refill on our drinks, no asking if the food was ok - order came out backwards - asked for the appetizer first, then our meal orders at the same time. Got the Soup first, then app then rest of the food. I acknowledge that the place was busy, but on quite a few occasions, it appeared that the familiar customers were visited with and tended to ahead of us and only when we got their attention. I would love to return, but not if this is the practice at this establishment. It's great to have your regulars and neighbors support the business, but not when you put them ahead of the rest of your customers. Maybe it will be take away orders instead of in-house. read more

This place is absolutely amazing! Attention is paid to every detail from the food to the service and ambiance. With no microwave or freezer in the building, the emphasis on fresh, locally sourced ingredients is evident (frankly, it makes all the difference!) My spouse and I went for a short road trip with our autistic son and decided to try out this restaurant, boy are we glad we did! Allie was our server and this lady deserves the recognition! We were in town for a wedding and my husband unexpectedly needed to visit urgent care. We found Surve because it was just down the street from his appointment. It's a cute little spot right in the town square. One half is full service and the other fast casual. Since the tables were all occupied in full service, we opted for the fast casual. I ordered the Seasonal Salad and a side of Mac & Cheese and husband the burger. Overall my salad was good, but a little too much of the light yellow part of the romaine for me. I love this restaurant! It is such a fun place to go for a casual dinner. Half of the restaurant is full service dine-in, and the other half you order at the front and they bring it out to you. You are able to order drinks at the bar even if you are not seated full-service. I got the French dip and it was incredible, it tasted very fresh and I loved how many options for sides they have. My parents and I went to groovy plants ranch and were naturally SUPER hungry after, (who wouldn't be after rummaging around and buying too many plant babies) they suggested we stop in this place for an early dinner. They insisted we sit on the bar side as the staff will take your order at your table unlike the other side where your order and the counter and then it is self service from there. I'm happy we did that because our server was awesome ! She had some great recommendations for us. I loved the farmhouse/ modern decor and feel to the place, it seemed really clean, cool and casual. The food : The eggs were soo good.. I don't like deviled eggs but these were so unique and full of flavor. The grilled shrimp appetizer was pretty good but i would probably try a different item in the future. I was debating over the fish tacos and another dish and the server helped me decide on the tacos and boom so glad she was there as a guide. They were amazing. The fish was super fresh and the toppings were flavorful and crisp, perfect mix for fish tacos. My mom loved her chicken tenders and dad his chicken, those brussel sprouts are definitely something to write home about, cooked to perfection with no bitterness Now let me get to the real deal, that key lime pie, Oh, MY. We were in town and ordered takeout from a restaurant closer to us, but they cancelled it so we had to find another option. Even though this was almost 20 minutes away, we are grateful it worked out the way it did because the food was SO good. Everything was fresh, light, healthy, and flavorful. We had the salmon, brussel sprouts, burger, and kids meals. The chicken tenders for the kids had the perfect ratio of light breading and were expertly fried. Ranch was delicious. Stopped in late Saturday night after some shopping at Tanger Outlets with my brother. We came in about 30-45 minutes before close but we're still greeted with a nice smile and made welcome. We both ordered the Surve burger, mine with fries, my brothers with fruit. They gave us a number and we sat ourselves and waited for the food. As we walked away I saw a cook prepare the patties so I knew everything was fresh which was a great start. The food took maybe 10-15 minutes to come out, which was no problem at all. We both asked for our burgers to be cooked medium and they were definitely well done. However they still had plenty of juice in them and not dry at all, definitely lost some of the flavor. But still a good burger and nothing to complain about. The fries were perfect, like fair fries almost. Skin-on deep fried potatoes and the fruit was also fresh and delicious. It was definitely good food, maybe a little on the pricy side at $11 for a burger and fries, but nothing too crazy. Some of the other entrees were $20+ though. I would definitely stop out again and try some other things though. read more

We go to Surve couple times every month, quality food, very clean, reasonable prices. I'm recovering from recent hip replacement surgery, must use a walker during recovery. My disappoint arose when I tried to leave. My wife had left to get the car, so I was shuffling toward the front door, past three hostesses just standing doing nothing within 6 ft of the entrance. I was struggling to get the door open, while also moving my walker forward, all three hostess simply watched my efforts, not one moved or offered to hold the door. I finally managed. So pumped to have stumble across this great restaurant in the sleepy little town of Sunbury. The concept has two areas, one you walk in and order then sit down and they bring the food. Awesome for families with kids that can appreciate quick service and the dinner delivered to the table quickly. Also good for lunch, if you don't have a lot of time. The other side is traditional full service, sit down and order from a waiter or waitress and you know that drill. The inside decor was nice, clean and welcoming. The staff where super friendly and helpful AND the food was GREAT and priced right!!! I didn't get pictures because it was a work lunch BUT I'm going back very soon and will update the post. Visited this cute little place on our way home from work. The setup is a little different but it works. One side you can order and then help yourself the other it's full service. Just a heads up if you are a weirdo like me that has to have a straw, bring your own they do not have any. We started with the deviled eggs, they were so cold almost frozen with hardly no taste just a crunch from the bacon. I was a little worried that my husband ordered a filet and I ordered steak for my salad after trying the eggs. I had no reason to worry, my husband said the steak was really good and my salad was so fresh it was all delicious! We will be back again, the burgers looked really good. read more

My boys said they were the best cheese curds since we were at a Green Bay backers bar!! DEVILED EGGS Surved with crisp bacon I added hot sauce! CHICKEN SALAD CROISSANT Organic, free range chicken salad, lettuce and tomato, Went with no tomato for my wife. Nice toasty croissant. Basic chicken salad but organic. CHICKEN TENDERS Organic, free range chicken tenderloins, hand battered and fried with a choice of two sides. Same batter as cheese curds. A good thing. Crispy and the hot cut fries were also perfect. I liked this place. It had really cute decOr & loved the option of sitting in the bar or the dining room. We opted for the bar so we could indulge in a glass of wine & chat before ordering our lunch. I loved that we could customize our meals. I went for the "bunless" Cajun chicken sandwich with a side of steamed broccoli. Oh and a glass of Pinot Grigio of coursE.
