For the money this place is well worth it. I've been to various Sushi AI restaurants in the area, and on the most part, this one lives up to the same standards as the others. However, I've gone twice on two different Sunday afternoons and both times, the rolls tend to be looser than the evening crew's rolls, and this last time, nearly half of my nigiri had overly warm rice, as if they had just finished cooking it. There was only one other couple in the restaurant at the time and there was only one carry-out customer the entire time, so I can't imagine why they had to resort to using overly warm rice. Other than that, the overall service is good and attentive. The seaweed salad was great, and like I mentioned above, other than the looseness of my roll, it was good too. One of my rolls came with a mound of sticky, cold, mashed up leftover tuna scrapings on each piece (the first time I was there, it was actually a slice of tuna, or I never would have returned the second time.) Salmon in my other roll was tough and smelled very fishy - a sign of fish past its prime. Woke up today feeling TERRIBLE, and I only ate a couple of pieces last night. Never. Going. Back. It is a lot better than Kitaro where the fish was dry - seriously I've had grocery store sushi that was better than Kitaro. The $20 all you can eat deal at Sushi Ai can't be beat. As a big eater who knows my limits, I would recommend it. If you do over order, you have to pay for what you don't eat so be warned. I ordered 20 nigiri pieces, 4 rolls, and an appetizer which would have cost me probably around $80 at other sushi restaurants so the $20 dinner really saves me money. We shared 4 rolls, the Alaska roll, the honey roll, California roll, and an eel roll, they were all good and fresh my fave was the eel roll and the honey roll. These were all on a special they were doing 2 rolls for 7.99. The special seemed to contain all their 6 piece rolls from their main menu we also ordered crab Rangoon and hot tea and both of us spent about 11$ before the tip. I found the serivce to be fast and friendly and the restaurant was pretty full and with two large parties when we got there, but I always had a full cup of water and I like that. read more

I have been to this restaurant on multiple occasions and have had a positive experience, but they made some changes last time I went that left a poor taste in my mouth (figuratively...the food is still good). We went on a Sunday and showed up a few minutes before opening, but were surprised to see the restaurant still totally closed 5 minutes before we were planning on sitting down. We went up to the door and noticed that their Sunday hours on the door are wrong, resulting in confusion on what time they actually opened. At exactly opening time (according to the internet, not the door.), the staff shows up carrying bags from the outlet mall and proceeds to take their time opening up the restaurant. We left and came back later. The food is always really good--we have never had a bad roll or dish. My boyfriend always orders the all-you-can-eat lunch special. To his dismay, they have removed the lunch special from the menu with a Sharpie marker and now only offer the full price all-you-can-eat dinner. Not wanting to spend $20 on lunch, he just ordered a couple rolls and was seriously bummed out (he's been going there for years). I proceed to order the Teriyaki Chicken Lunch Special, and the waitress informs me that they do not offer their lunch specials on Sunday, although this is not stated ANYWHERE on the menu. Since we only came for the lunch prices, I politely asked her to check with a manager and see if I could get the pricing stated on the menu. After some back and forth, she finally talked with one of the chefs and gave me the lunch pricing. I heard another table ask for the lunch special as well. Sushi ai is a small sushi restaurant located in a grocery store strip but don't let it's modest appearance deter you. Sushi ai has some of the best sushi Ive ever had. Quality wise it is on par with drunken fish. While the restaurant is decorated with typical Asian decor it's nothing fancy. Sushi ai almost always has some kind of all you can eat menu option at a very reasonable price! It's a great place for poor college students like me as well as first time sushi eaters because its affordable enough to order multiple rolls . In addition to sushi they also serve typic hibachi fare which I have not had. Also don't waste your time or money on the diner salad- it's small and nothing special- save for the sushi! Now for the bad, sushi ai has a lot to offer, but there is one complaint I have. Many of the servers face a language barrier. This has caused a bit of confusion and wrong orders in the past so be sure to speak clearly when ordering. Also I was given the wrong check once but when I realized the mistake everything was fixed. Each one is made fresh, so its quality stuff. I also went for the dinner and was able to order five rolls for just $30. They were a wide range and were pretty good. The real winner is the fact that they actually have combination party trays with both sashimi and sushi. Something I found every other place lacking. They also have a very wide range of non sushi items to order, so even someone who isn't all that interested in sushi would have no problem finding something to order. By far the best sushi I've had for the price - only rarely am I not pleased by the sushi, And the only things I would complain about is the eel being cold, or the rice on the nigiri not being the right size or shape, but the fish is high quality, and if you get to know all of the staff, they are all very nice. Tried this place for the first time. Was not impressed. Always beware when a sushi place resorts to an "All You Can Eat". That means they make their profit from volume not by quality. I found the quality of fish to be sub par, the service rude and un-knowledgable, and who puts dried mushrooms in a tempura batter and assume that the deep frying is supposed to plump it up? That's how the waitress explained the really bad tempura. The salmon rolls were way too salty and you couldn't figure out what was in the Fashion roll because it was prepared as a mess. Not going back. Sakura Hibachi and Sushi in Wentzville has much fresher fish and higher quality cuts.
