I don't think I'll ever give sushi bombs another shot. I ordered coconut shrimp and it looks like it was cooked with charcoal and brimstone. Whoever put this in a container and thought it was ok to hand off needs training. The quality of the sushi is mediocre as well. I ordered the blazing fish and it tasted like chicken. The sliver of salmon on top wasn't enough to salvage it. Overall I think you need to work on your quality. Place looked nice though. read more

Had this place at 5 stars, but the employees made it drop to 3. I called to order for pick up at 9:50 (place closes at 11pm) and the hostess said they were closed for the night. I noticed online the time they close so I had my boyfriend call & they were very rude and told him they were closing early tonight. I completely understand when stores or restaurants are dead and the employees want to go home. I really do get it. But if there are people trying to eat and buy YOUR food, at the times YOU placed online that we can order and eat from your restaurant, we should be able to do so & not receive attitude for it. I feel bad leaving this review because I have come to this place since the day it's opened and always loved the food & the actual owner of the store is very sweet. But the employees like waiters/waitresses & host/hostesses have always been awful with the exception of a solid 2 or 3 people. I quickly ordered nigiri, an order of eel, hamachi, and conch. At $4, I honestly thought I'd be getting 2 pieces of each even though it's not mentioned on the menu. Probably my fault there. Ordered 2 sake bombers, very nicely priced at $8 After some time, our drinks are brought over and we add an order for a roll. Eventually, our nigiri arrives, and to my despair, it's 1 piece of each. Nice portion of fish, beautiful presentation. I dig in and experience the most bland rice ever. The lack of seasoning on this was just devastating. This immediately put a bad tastes in our mouth. We were not looking forward to a bland roll. Sadly, the roll came and the rice was just as bland. Sushi is literally about the rice. Not sure why they allow this to be what they served. Decided to try this place since I've heard good things about it, and I'm so glad I did! When I first walked in I was so impressed, the restaurant is decorated so pretty and most importantly, it's clean! Asian restaurants usually aren't the cleanest which is why I usually don't go to them. This definitely wasn't the case here. 10/10 for that. Now onto the food: Me and my boyfriend ordered the Lava Roll, Kongo rice, and the Thai donuts. The Lava roll was amazing, it had a grilled, glazed slice of salmon on top with perfectly sticky, yummy, white rice wrapped around crunchy, fresh, fried shrimp with lean but juicy white crab and finally some delicious cream cheese that ties it all together and gives you the perfect amount of tartiness to kill some of that that strong seafood flavor. The roll was topped with crunchy fried flakes and drizzled with sweet eel sauce. The Kongo fried rice was so flavorful! My boyfriend could barely hold off for the picture thanks to the delicious aroma the rice was giving off. The rice had chicken, steak, and Shrimp. It was chopped up into tiny pieces which I loved because you got all three in every forkful you had. The rice was perfectly greasy and garlicky. It was honestly one of my favorites I've had. The shrimp sauce was a perfect touch. Finally the Thai donuts!!!!! The were literally perfect. They were a perfectly browned fried and heavenly. They were so crunchy on the outside and inside they were soooooo soft and delicious they came out hot with powered sugar on top. They also bring condensed milk on the side which is worth every calorie. The only negative is that there wasn't enough sauce for all the donuts. Overall the service is the only thing that wasn't the best. The host was professional and accommodating but we were constantly waiting around for the waiter which was as annoying. Smaller portions inconsistent food and when you have a problem with your dining experience don't expect the manager to rectify it like any other proper restaurant. I just moved to the Miami lakes area so I'm making an effort to try most of the eateries nearby to avoid the never ending traffic congestion at least when venturing off to eat. Sushi Bombs is literally walking distance from my home so naturally I had to give it a shot and damn glad I am that I did. I ate there for an early lunch on a weekday and there were two people inside. By 12:30 it was much more congested. The restaurant had a nice Japanese-esque decor, the server was attentive and courteous but the true star of the show was the food. I will say that I feel that the sushi prices are a bit inflated for a strip mall restaurant environment but the Dragon roll my daughter had was good. I ordered the steak hibachi off the lunch portion of the menu and glad i did. For $13.00 I found the portion size to be fair and the flavor of the fried rice, steak and stir fry veggies to be on point. Even the special mayo-based sauce to pour over rice or dip the steak in was quite delicious. I'll conclude by saying that the large chain Hibachi/Teppenyaki-style restaurants don't have a thing on this place. It is great to have such a great place so near to ones home. possibly in my bottom two sushi experiences of all time (for reference, i've had quite a bit -- from miami to chicago, new york to london, and all across japan). one (or 1.5) stars because ultimately the food was edible and clearly aimed at the typical miami crowd with a s*-ton of cream cheese and sauces in basically all the rolls -- which seems to be a hit across the population here (obviously not for me). i think there was even a roll with churrasco and sweet fried plantains (lmao). i even found the nigiri to somehow also be super sweet and have no idea how that even happened, as if the rice had extra sugar in it somehow. ‍ thought adding more than normal amounts of wasabi would tone down the sweetness of every piece of sushi/roll, but the wasabi was so mild it did absolutely nothing. the large volume of tempura flakes on top and surrounding the roll was comical. and lastly, the two appetisers we got were also sub-par (an overly fried and crispy gyoza; a doused-in-sauce (sweet again!) tuna tartar). on a covid note: the smallish restaurant had every table packed. (this may not actually be against any sort of guidelines or rules set in miami/fl, but just noting for those that are concerned). so: if you like your sushi to be super sweet, stuffed with cream cheese, with extra sauce and crispiness, i suppose you will love this joint. read more

This place is so under rated! The service here is exceptional and the food is so fresh! Each time we come, it seems that the crowd is very small, I really don't know why. Being that the service and food is great.... maybe not enough publicity? Prices are very high! Maybe that's why.... everything that I have had or that friends have had has always been extremely fresh and delicious. The options are plentiful and the combinations of flavors are different and satisfying. I definitely recommend to share plates with others if you are not a big eater. Sushi rolls typically come in sets of 10 pieces, but they are large. The cocotazo roll is one of my favorites as well as the macho roll. If I could describe my disappointment with this restaurant is staff when you call to make an order. The staff does not want to work and they are not friendly at all. You call to make a pick up order and the one who does not want to work tell you sorry they can't help you and you have to make your order online. Honestly it is a total disappointment because I order here very often but when things like this happened to me I go to another restaurant because I refuse to give money to a Buisness who does not appreciate their customer. I myself am a Buisness owners and when my clients ask for assistance I go above and beyond. Ordered food on the phone and was told 20-25 minutes. I got there in 30 minutes and paid. Proceed to wait an hour for my food! I asked for the manager and he said " your order takes time and we are very busy. I said well the couple sitting right there were waiting to be seated when I got here and now they are eating!
