1 STAR - ABSOLUTELY NO REGARD FOR PEOPLE'S TIME This place is beyond unprofessional. I called 45 minutes ahead because I was on a strict schedule and was told my food would be ready in 15 minutes. That was a lie. When I arrived, that's when they decided to start cooking my order. Then I'm told they "didn't see the ticket," yet the same employee was immediately ready to take my payment the moment I walked in. So you missed the order but not the money? Convenient. What makes this even worse is that I was on a VERY limited one-hour window to pick up food and leave. This was not a casual wait situation -- waiting around could've caused serious problems for me. I explained I couldn't wait, and they did not care at all. No urgency, no apology, no concern whatsoever. This restaurant has no organization, no accountability, and zero respect for customers' time or circumstances. If you have anywhere to be, especially something important, do not risk it here. They will waste your time and shrug it off like it's nothing. One of the worst service experiences I've ever had. Never again.

Had a great lunch at Dr. Limon in Miami Lakes. The location is in a strip mall with very convenient parking. The waitress was very helpful in explaining the menu and all of the options. We had the crispy rice appetizer, which was absolutely delicious and we also had ceviche. Everything tasted amazing. Highly recommend.

I have been here 3 times over the years. The service is good, restaurant is clean, and prices are reasonable, however, I do not like/enjoy the ceviche here. Very flavorless, corn is overcoooked. I got the mixto with the fish and squid and squid tasted so bad and unflavored. I have had MUCH much better ceviche before at other restaurants. As you can see in the photo, the plate presentation is beautiful but sadly the food lacks flavor. They should put more citrus into ther ceviche. I LOVE the ceviche shots they bring before the meal though. Like if that would have been the broth for my ceviche that would've been amazing. I came here for a work lunch but this isn't a place I would ever choose to go if I was craving ceviche.

I love Peruvian food so this restaurant is always a good option when I go to my office in Miami Lakes. I usually get the salmon with smashed potatoes or ceviche. This time I had the salmon again and it was really good. I also tried their mango juice with no sugar and it was delicious. We got the octopus as an appetizer to share but I felt there was a lot of onions and potatoes with not a lot of octopus. Prices are on the higher side taking into account the small portions but the food in general is good. The server was really patient as we took a while to decide what to order and he also made appetizer recommendations to share. The ambience is nice and welcoming. They only have one big restroom which can cause bathroom breaks to take longer than expected. Overall good Peruvian food!

    Ceviche and chicken causas

Our recent holiday school luncheon for a party of 46 at Dr. Limon was nothing short of spectacular, proving that this restaurant doesn't just serve amazing food--it excels at managing large-scale events with grace and attentiveness. The manager Rufino Paulino and his wife were very helpful and pleasant to work with. They were very fast in answering all of my questions prior to the event. The food was spectacular, taking us on a delicious tour of Peruvian flavors. We started with the famous Ceviche, which was incredibly fresh and vibrant--a perfect burst of citrus. The unexpected favorite, however, was the Chicken Egg Rolls, which were absolutely "to die for." Crispy on the outside with a savory filling, they were a delightful, fusion twist. I had the Lomo Saltado, which was delicious. The beef was exceptionally tender and delicious, perfectly seasoned and tossed with crisp fries and vegetables. Every dish, from the first bite of the appetizer to the last spoonful of dessert, was executed with precision and passion.

Great ambiance and amazing drink and food choices and recommendations.

This is my second visit and I was sorely disappointed. My Lomo Saltado was lukewarm at best.

2 stars - Friendly service, but execution was way off The waiter was very friendly, and I appreciated that he made a leche de tigre drink for me even though it wasn't on the menu--that was a nice touch. But the way the orders were handled left a lot to be desired. He took our drink order, my grandson's food order, and then the rest of ours all at once, which seemed efficient at first. But when the food came out, it was all over the place--literally. My main dish (Mar y Tierra) came out first, followed by my daughter's appetizer, and then--way later--my baby grandson's meal. I'm not talking a couple of minutes. I'm talking enough of a delay that my food was going cold while we waited, and the baby's food came out so late it felt like someone forgot it altogether. And while my dish had good flavor, the presentation was disappointing. It looked like someone else's leftovers thrown onto a plate--not what I'd expect from a place with this kind of menu and pricing. The service attitude was warm, but the pacing and attention to detail were completely off. It made the whole experience feel disorganized and frustrating, especially with a little one at the table.

Side salad that came with grilled Octopus!
    MarMar G.

My Peruvian coworker recommended this restaurant and she was on point. I got the grilled octopus, the yellow pepper ceviche and the chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream. It was a lot of food of course. I ate all the octopus and a few bites of ceviche. The octopus was tender and flavorful and I loved the potatoes that came with it. The ceviche was fresh and refreshing. It was full of big chunks of seafood. The cake was decadent and amazing. Honestly I will go back and try their whole menu. Servers speak limited English but I could still Communicate successfully. Menu is in Spanish!!!

The service here is always impeccable. The food is delicious. The ambiance is great, just avoid sitting outside by the Jiu Jitsu place and you'll be fine! Love that this is one of our spots! The portions are really big, so come with an appetite and someone you want to share with!

Leche de tigre is the best in town
    Adyari M.

I love this place, there are other locations but this is by far my favorite. I keep coming back here even if just for the leche de Tigre which I'm totally hooked on. Just the right kick of acidity and punch with plenty of tiny fish bites. You don't sacrifice quality when they pack your to go order. You get the same satisfaction in each bite. What I always order when I come here is the lychee Jamaica drink they have is a sweeter more tropical take on the lychee martini but I love it. I also always get the leche de Tigre without any canchas or choclos, their pulpo al olivo, and their fried ceviche. Whenever I'm feeling extra hungry I order their lomo saltado medium rare and their ají de gallina is so so good too. You need to go to this place if you like Peruvian food. Their service is just as good as the food so really the whole experience! Go now!

The have vegetable chafas. Peruvian style fried rice. Also lots of dishes with quinoa, and the one that is my favorite is the saltado de vegetales. It’s like the famous limo saltado but instead of meat with vegetables. It’s delicious!

A tad bit too much in my personal opinion), and for entree the 8 oz baby tenderloin churrasco. (Shout out to one of our waiters! I didn't catch her name but she was honest with the menu recommendations and advised us to order the baby tenderloin churrasco which was a hit!). Though they have a preset menu for corporate type events, our boss was generous enough to let us select off the open menu. The decor is made to look like the inside of a hacienda with the tile roofs and stucco columns (yes you tell I'm a structural engineer :) The music was mostly 80s ballads, and service was very attentive. They even brought one of the desserts with a candle for a colleague's birthday, and took our group's photo. We started with a couple of baskets of buttered herbed Cuban bread and dipping chimichurri, as well as an appetizer sampler including refried beans, fried cheese and tequenos. The fried cheese was served on a little piece of pita bread and is a must try. I also enjoyed the refried bean soup, especially when dipped with plantain chips. As far as my main course, everyone knows how much I love cows! I enjoyed a sizable piece of churrasco, juicy even at medium well, sweet plantains and moros (here they serve it with red beans instead of black beans) and crispy house-made plantain chips. The Tres leches was also very fluffy, with a lot of cream and perfect enough to send me to a nice little after lunch nap. I also washed it down with Cortadito.

Maybe it was the World Cup atmosphere, with fans from every corner of the globe pouring into town. Maybe it was simply surrendering to the Latin heartbeat that drives so much of this city. Whatever the reason, we found ourselves at Bocas Grill in Miami Gardens. The restaurant wears its intentions proudly. The menu stretches in every direction, but one message rises above the noise. "In Arepas We Trust" is splashed across the wall. It is both slogan and challenge. We accepted. An order of sweet plantains with cheese arrived first, still steaming from the fryer. The plantains were caramelized and sweet, the shredded cheese providing the salty counterpoint that makes the combination so addictive. Simple, familiar, and satisfying. For my entrée, I ordered the Simon Bolivar arepa, a hulking creation stuffed with sliced picanha, shredded cheese, and pico de gallo. Calling it a sandwich would be misleading. This thing arrived looking less like a handheld meal and more like an engineering project. The corn cake itself had excellent flavor, earthy and sweet in the way a good arepa should be. The picanha was cooked to a beautiful medium-rare, juicy and deeply beefy. The only issue was its texture. The steak slices were just chewy enough that each bite threatened to pull half the filling out with it, leaving me in a tug-of-war between my teeth and the arepa. My wife ordered the Wok Smoked Shrimp arepa, another generously stuffed creation. The shrimp seemed endless, piled high with tomatoes and a cilantro crema that brought brightness to every bite. I searched for the promised smokiness and found very little of it, but the shrimp themselves were cooked properly, firm with a pleasant snap. Combined with the crema, they made for a flavorful and satisfying filling. Bocas Grill understands something many restaurants forget. If you are going to build your reputation on one item, that item should feel abundant. These arepas do. They are overstuffed, messy, and unapologetically generous. Did they satisfy the craving? Absolutely. When a craving for arepas hits, Bocas Grill is more than capable of answering the call.

Too often, they feel…read morelike culinary speed dating, two cuisines forced together in the hope that chemistry magically appears. More often than not, one side dominates, the other disappears, and everybody loses. At Amazonia, a Japanese-Peruvian restaurant in Miami, that fear evaporates somewhere around the first bite. The opening argument came in the form of Gyoza Huancaína, pan-fried dumplings stuffed with lomo saltado and served with a vivid yellow huancaína sauce. It is the kind of dish that sounds gimmicky when described aloud. Then you eat it. The dumplings delivered deep savory notes from the beef, while the creamy sauce added brightness, spice, and richness. It felt less like a fusion experiment and more like a dish that had always existed. Four dumplings arrived on the plate. Four was not enough. My entrée, the Midori Risotto, continued the conversation between Japan and Peru. A strikingly green risotto made with kale and edamame arrived topped with grilled shrimp, microgreens, and dots of black garlic aioli. The rice was cooked properly, retaining a slight bite, while the edamame added texture and sweetness. The shrimp brought balance to the richness, and the black garlic aioli quietly tied everything together. It was a dish that managed to be both comforting and elegant. To drink, I ordered the Nikkei Lemonade, a blend of yuzu, Peruvian ginger, and huacatay. Bright, citrusy, and refreshing, it reset the palate after each bite and served as a reminder that the fusion extends beyond the food. My wife chose the braised short rib, a dish for diners who may not be ready to take the full leap into the restaurant's more adventurous offerings. Braised for 72 hours and served over mashed potatoes, it collapsed under the gentlest pressure from a fork. The beef was intensely flavorful, and the braising liquid was rich enough to make you consider asking for a spoon. Dessert brought one final East-meets-West moment. The Flan Nikkei paired a silky custard with miso caramel, whipped cream, and fresh strawberry. The miso added just enough savory depth to keep the sweetness from becoming predictable. It was a thoughtful ending to a meal built on thoughtful combinations. Amazonia succeeds because it understands something many fusion restaurants do not. Combining cuisines is not about piling flavors on top of one another. It is about finding where they naturally intersect. Here, Japanese precision and Peruvian boldness meet in the middle, and both emerge better for it. Fusion rarely wins me over, but Amazonia makes a compelling case for keeping an open mind.

We started off with a mocktail that had coconut, passion fruit, hibiscus tea and pineapple. That drink was delicious and I didn't miss the alcohol. For starters we had the salmon crispy rice and that was so filling and delicious. Then we had the scallops in the black truffle sauce which was perfect a seared to perfection. We also ordered the kumogani roll which is crab based and that was very tasty with or without soy sauce. We loved everything we tried and will definitely go back to try other items on the menu. I highly recommend trying them out if you're in the area.
