3.5 star One of the cheapest omakases I've seen in Houston while delivering on quality. Highly recommend using inkind app to get a good deal. Pretty easy to just walk in on a weekend day (their reservations come w a hefty cancellation fee). Entry door looks like a painting on the right. Food: All of the fish was super fresh. I just was not a fan of a lot of the flavor combos and sauces (some of which included fish sauce, gochujang, dijon mustard). The crudo was Mexican flavored inspired and I did not enjoy it. I'm Vietnamese but I did not think the fish sauce dish (I forgot which one) was good. I wish the rice was not as doused in soy sauce which overwhelmed the fish and that overall, the fish taste shine through more in each dish but this may just be personal preference. My favorite was the chutoro. Service: Food is delivered at a relatively fast rate which I personally enjoyed. The workers were polite but not overly warm.

Heard they are now offer walk ins so we took a chance for lunch hours and the place was 1/2 full Service and food were good as expected. The lunch was only for 30min and cost $60/pp for 12 omakase.

One of the best omakase deals I've had in Texas. For the price, you get an impressive selection of fresh fish and beautifully prepared nigiri. The staff always bring an upbeat, fun energy to the sushi bar and are great to banter with, which makes the experience even more enjoyable. The premium pieces are especially delicious. The most memorable for me was the torched scallop topped with foie gras--it was so good. I'd highly recommend this spot, especially for lunch. The meal moves a little faster than at many other omakase restaurants, so you still have plenty of time for other plans afterward or even a longer dinner reservation later in the day.

This spot deserves five stars due to the excellent service, great food, and a welcoming and unique atmosphere. I came at the first dinner time slot for the omakase (sushi tasting menu). I was the only one there, so I got a personalized experience from beginning to end. The quality of the ingredients are incredible. The fish is so fresh and has amazing flavor. Plus the paired additions made it delicious. The oysters are also incredible. As someone who doesn't normally like oysters, this was one of the best dishes of the night with the Asian spices/citrus flavors. The tuna, salmon, yellowtail, and scallops were all so delicious. The tuna was ultra fatty (otoro), the salmon and yellowtail were bright flavors, and the Hokkaido scallops were incredibly sweet. The temaki roll at the end is the perfect close to the meal. Service was excellent and the chef had great conversations, explained each dish in detail, and was exceptionally skilled in his presentations. This restaurant has such a unique atmosphere. The bar seating is behind a hidden portrait door, and the other seating is in a small hallway designed to look like a Japanese alley. This 12-course tasting menu is competitively priced at $75 and was worth it. They also do an izakaya dinner (skewers) for $90. Omakase dinners last 45 minutes, and izakaya dinners last 60 minutes. Reservations should be made on Resy as there is limited seating. Please note there are cancellation visa associated if you cancel less than 24 hours in advance.

Solid sushi experience. $60 is a fantastic lunch price for 12 pieces/dishes all in 30 minutes. Book online, and you arrive at the small NFT art gallery, there you wait until the hostess calls you in. We were the only ones for that seating that day, so we had the chef and hostess/manager Michelle's full attention. They were fun to chat with and made for a great conversation. The pieces come fast, though I wonder if it's as fast if the counter were full. Very solid selection of fish. Chef does a good job of adding flavor to complement the fish, very Asian/Viet-forward given what seems to be his background. If you're still hungry, or just want a 2nd serving of something ($5 each, though it might vary by piece), they do tell you when it's last call. It's a good place if you want solid sushi in a sit-eat-then-move-on type of fashion, but personally I found 30 minutes to be a bit too fast to be able to fully enjoy the experience, especially if dining with others. Solo? Perfect.

I visited Sushi by Hidden for their $75 per-person omakase The food itself was the highlight. Out of the 13 courses, the Chutoro, Hotate, and Engawa stood out as my favorites, each one incredibly flavorful with textures and toppings that really elevated the bite. When the fish was good, it was really good. However, the overall experience felt rushed. We were in and out in about 35-40 minutes, which made the meal feel more transactional than immersive. Additionally, service and performance were virtually non-existent. There wasn't much interaction, explanation, or anything particularly memorable from the staff. If you're strictly after solid sushi at a relatively approachable omakase price, it delivers. But if you're looking for a more engaging or thoughtful dining experience, this might fall short.

Loved it. Stick with the omakase and it is absolutely worth it. The little extra on top makes it outstanding and different. Try it you will not be disappointed.

A more intimate, but quick, omakase experience that was honestly well worth the price ($65 for a 12 course) and you can order more from the à la carte menu. When you arrive, someone will meet you in the lobby/waiting area and you'll be seated right at your reservation time. There are only 10 seats, but our reservation time only had a total of 4 people, which can make it a little awkward but either way, the food was amazing! The chef and staff were all really friendly and knowledgeable though! My absolute favorite was "hamachi" but honestly, everything was absolutely delicious. Definitely will come back again!

We have returned to Sushi by Hidden over and over again due to their creative menu, impeccable service, and overall amazing experience! We are impressed every single time and absolutely love the flavor pairing and techniques that the chefs have mastered. Because dinner only takes 45 minutes, we always enjoy going nearby for dessert afterwards since there are some fun dessert and beverage options nearby in Rice Village! Can't wait to come back!

This was an awesome experience. My date booked the evening and the food and service was exceptional. Tyson and another gentlemen took care of us. We ate 10 courses and had two bottles of sake. I would be lying if I said I remembered the names. That's how much fun we were having. The scallop was so delicious as was everything else. Run don't walk for a one of a kind experience.

This place was incredible! The fish was so fresh and I love how they do a chef's choice menu. My favourite was flounders fin (Hirame). The staff were so friendly! I also love the location and ambiance. I wish it were a longer time though, since it is super quick about 30 minutes. I do like the convenience, but wish it were a bit longer to really enjoy each piece.

We went for restaurant week and it was a great deal. Very intimate set up, only about ten seats but a fun experience hearing about each piece from the sushi chef. Attentive waitress and all of the sushi was delicious and unique. Highly recommend! Only bummer was that they rushed us out at the end for the next reservation

This cozy sushi spot is nestled in rice university. I came for the dinner omakase and was not disappointed. I loved how each reservation was just for your party. It felt like we rented out the place. They offer byob and chilled our bottle of wine. The omakase experience was 45 minutes so I felt a little rushed, but the service was still good. The restaurant has a picture worthy entrance and they play great music.

Upon arrival, I was told that I could not sit at the sushi bar and eat. If I wanted to order I had to go sit in the common area of this dining hall. After this discussion, I said fine and asked for a menu. They then told me I had to get up and order at the register and view the menu glued to the counter. They took the order of a couple who sat down maybe 2 minutes before me in front of me. I will never come back to this place. They seem to be the last man standing in this dining hall, and with this kind of customer service, they won't last much longer. It's a shame because I love the food and I am a regular at handies and aiko as well. Won't be back to any of them.

GENERALIZED REVIEW:…read more Came here with a friend from theatre after a full run--he had this place recommended to him by another theatre friend, so we're just passing on the word. The plaza was a bit confusing to navigate, and I'm pretty sure if the place weren't full of Asian parents and their kids, it would've felt like the shadiest place ever because you have to enter from the back. Otherwise, the plaza had a lot of great-looking stores overall. My first go-to: I've loved drinking Kirin Light ever since I discovered it in Chicago. The flavor is literally so light, with a slight acidity that brightens up my meal. The sake here was frankly also delicious. I didn't order it, but my friend did, and they had it warmed. The flavor was soothing and subtle, almost like tea. It was exceptionally easy to drink, and the ocean-themed ceramicware was a beautiful touch. We ordered two rolls: the Shaggy Dog and the Truffalufagus (a fun tongue-twister). I personally chose the Truffalufagus (which is not fun to spell) because it seemed like the most unique dish on the menu, and I enjoyed it very much. What I liked most about it was that it was subtle yet impactful. I also loved the textures--from the internal crunch paired with the fresh jalapeño to the softness of the fish. I'm glad I gave this roll a shot, and I would be excited to try it again anytime. The Shaggy Dog was great, but it appealed less to my flavor profile. It was a little too rich and creamy for me. I recommended this place to my BF as a potential future date spot--I personally think he would like it... if he weren't the type to enjoy AYCE sushi so much. If they had more unique rolls, I would definitely come back just for those. I was tempted to order the Surf and Turf for this round, but I didn't want to seem like a glutton, hahaha.
