We enjoy this sushi food conveyor belt concept restaurant. This is our third time here so I can feel that my review will reflect a quality review. I do love the ambiance and food but I wish the service was better as far as tending to customers. It's not crowded but the staff won't come around as often and when they do it's quick where they talk to my husband or my mouth is full and don't wait for my response. I'm usually waiting for refills or dessert. I will say I love the various options of sushi that are available here. The bird nest sushi is one of my favorites. The potato sticks are a fun crunchy texture that I enjoy. The Crab Rangoon are always warm and crispy. The fried shrimp with tangy cocktail sauce is always a chef's kiss for me. I love that! This is a waitress who has never served us before, and I don't know if she has no clue and just made up the story, or if they were deliberately ripping us off, but either way, it's inexcusable. We've eaten here for years and I know the time cut off for lunch/dinner. Even their website says lunch until 5PM. Didn't want to make a fuss, so we paid got the hell out of there. Visited on Wednesday evening at 8.30pm, the restaurant was pretty quiet with less than 10 people, we ordered takeout, thought it would be quick as they can just get the sushi from the conveyor, and the restaurant was not busy, however we were told it would take about 15 minutes. The sushi was great but I wouldn't be there again if I needed a quick meal. I would like to come back and dine in when I have time. read more

Came here to have dinner and pretty much we had all you can eat. We love this place and enjoy the fresh food and service from the staff. Ambiance was great as rush hour is not until around 6:30pm. Our choice was the conveyor belt and it did not disappoint. Our waitress also checked on us a few times to make sure we didn't need anything. I honestly hate that I even have to write this because I've loved Sushi Choo Choo for years. My family and I have been coming here forever. The food has always been good, and the staff has generally been kind. I never thought I'd have a negative experience here... until today. For anyone who knows, Sushi Choo Choo operates mostly as a self-serve setup. The server brings your drink and that's essentially the only interaction you have until you ask for the check. That was exactly my experience. A gentleman with glasses brought my drink, and that was the extent of our interaction. When I finished eating, I asked for the check, signed it, and left. As I got to my car, I realized I hadn't left a tip. Considering this is basically a self-serve experience and I had almost zero interaction with the server, I didn't think much of it. What happened next was completely unacceptable. As I was getting into my car, the server FOLLOWED me into the parking lot, holding my receipt, and told me I "needed to sign the box" -- clearly referring to the tip line. I felt immediately uncomfortable. Being approached at my car over a tip is inappropriate and intimidating. I ended up adding a tip just to avoid escalating the situation. He even looked at it right in front of me, and his expression made it clear he still wasn't satisfied. Tipping is customary, yes -- but it is not mandatory. No customer should ever be chased into a parking lot and pressured into paying more. That crosses a serious line. It's incredibly disappointing because the food is good and I've supported this place for years. But no matter how good the sushi is, I will not return to a business where an employee thinks it's acceptable to follow a customer to their car and pressure them for money. Management seriously needs to address this before someone feels unsafe enough to take further action. read more

The food is amazing but Im tired of being rushed to finish my order and I believe some one the staff should get familiar with the menu. I was sitting down and my waitress was handing me a menu and I asked her simultaneously if they had a bento box and looked me straight in the face and told me no. Everytime I come here the staff is always rude and rushing me when they are talking to me and they rarely come to my table. Im still sitting here with plates still on the table. Nice little spot. Very clean, spaced out during COVID. Had a lunch date here, who loves this place. sushi choo choo, is a constant moving belt, that displays a title label followed by the covered dish, that's easy to collect once it passes near you. Each dish is on a color coded plate, which is for pricing, that you can locate on wall. The wine didn't taste like much at first, but it's strong in the end. Maybe because I'm a light weight too. I'll stick with my herbal tea I minus two stars, because one dish had hair on the plate. Another had a nat in the sauce. I pointed it out to my waitress, she collected the plates, but wasn't apologetic. (She didn't say anything, but the energy wasn't negative either). I also had Hot tea, but of course I brought my own. The first tea cup I was given wasn't clean. The second cup wasn't the best, I just wiped it off, and said a prayer. However, I did enjoy this spot, and I do plan to return. read more

My son picked this place because "he likes sushi". He's doesn't like sushi but likes the idea of the conveyor belt aka "choo choo" delivering the food. It's would cool if it was in fact a train delivering the food. But it's not. The concept is cool, but the food is subpar. I got the bento box with chicken teriyaki. The amount of chicken wasn't that much. The chicken itself was a bit tough and dry and the teriyaki sauce wasn't that great. The box also came with rice, sushi and fried cheese puffs. Rice is rice, although I feel like most places have better rice. The fried cheese puffs were small and ok. On the sushi side, it was a California roll, which was probably the highlight of my meal. My wife got a bunch of stuff off the conveyor belt and I tasted quite a bit. Most was ok a best. I had some spicy salmon rolls and I felt they were a day or 2 old. I don't know - they weren't good. I never knew the difference between good sushi and great sushi - but now I know the difference between bad sushi and good sushi. My son got fried shrimp and fries. I'll admit fries are awesome and the fried shrimp are what you'd expect. If you want good sushi and good food - look elsewhere. Choo choo is awesome, kids love the covered dishes coming around the conveyor like a train! Dishes are colored around rim to mark prices and waitress adds up plate at the end. I gave it 4 stars because they added up the plates incorrectly and overcharged for extra pink plate. In their miscount, it wasn't to under count... so you just gotta wonder how often they over counted a higher cost plate color??? So make sure you count up your plates and review the receipt which luckily is in English and spells out each plate color. read more

I give this place 3.5. The ambiance is cool basically different types of sushi going down the conveyor belt for you to choose from. The price is not bad starting from 2.50 to 5.00 depending on the color of the plate. I went during the afternoon it wasn't crowded, we didn't see our server to much. The sushi selection was fine. For dessert I had the fried ice cream, not to good it was a tempura batter, I would pass on the that. This place is great for kids. read more

At the time, we didn't come here necessary because it was the best sushi in town but because of proximity, taste/quality, variety and cost. I stopped by here again on my way out of Houston. So happy I did. It's as good, if not better, than what I remember. I love this place. I think one of my favorite things is the variety. At any other place I typically get one of the specialty type rolls (ie: the expensive ones) and then one of the regular rolls. I end up spending $25 - $30. So happy we found this spot. It's officially going to be our place for sushi go to place. The minute we walked in we were greeted and seated. The whole concept is pretty awesome. So you sit down side by side. Might be seated next to another party but they seemed to organize it really well and have one seat empty in between. The conveyor belt is in front of you and you have a menu to see what the price points and categories. Each sushi place comes with about 4 pieces. Urm yea I will definitely never come back here . The food is pretty trash . The sashimi scallops are frozen scallops thawed in the microwave. I asked the server how much longer for my scallops she said they're still cooking then did a nervous laugh & said they're still making it .... I understood once they arrived . Sushi Choo Choo is the assembly line of sushi. If you really think of it, that can be a good thing... but most likely it's a bad thing. Sushi Choo Choo manages to get it right. The entire premise of the place is a gigantic conveyor belt that transports various pastel dishes with covers around the interior of the store. Each plate's hue denotes its price, from $1 a plate to $5 for the sushi it has. Think the big conveyor belts at an airport and your luggage pieces are various tones of Kanye West Bape shirts circa 2004. And your luggage is filled with California rolls. Its neat and unpretentious; the sushi is premade and there for the picking. The sushi itself is not bad. The Philly roll, the Spicy Tuna, and the Spicy Crawfish are my standards. It's nothing to hype up but good for the price. The quality is above buffet standards but not quite sushi bar level. You knew what you were getting with Model T but I doubt people were clamoring for Model Ts based on superior design or quality. The Shaggy Dogg & Volcano roll are more eccentric choices. They have apps and fried selections, like crab wonton, ragoons, and fried shrimp. The fried selections are often rom temp. You can ask for some freshly made but they will try to pass off one from the assembly line as your order. They do serve alcohol and you can order custom sushi and rolls that are not offered. These provide a good bridge if you're looking for more sushi choices. Tip: Ask to be seated by the 1st island on the right when you walk in. The sushi that is freshly made enters the conveyor belt from the kitchen here and you'll have 1st dibs. read more
