Solid AYCE Sushi in the Neighborhood! Stumbled on this place while heading to Bath & Body Works next door, surprisingly good! I came around 1:30 PM after lunch, had the place to myself, and the server was super nice and attentive. Went with the dinner AYCE to get sashimi and more variety than lunch offers. Totally worth the price. As for the people saying they'd rather go to Oma. Yeah, Oma is good, but it's all the way out in Sugar Land. Ain't nobody driving that far when you've got this spot right here. :)

North-side of Houston finally has Taizzi! We went a week after soft opening and food was great, service was excellent! Also really cool how we got to meet and talk to the owner of Taizzi and actually got to know more about his future business openings (cannot wait for him to announce!). To be honest, we only got to know about Taizzi just about 4 weeks ago when we went to their Katy mills location, then we went to their Memorial location last weekend, and now 290. This specific location is also similar in some aspects but different in many compared to the other two. PROS: - price: lunch and dinner are both a few dollars less compared to katy and memorial (cons listed below) - thick cuts of sashimi - nice big portions - fish to rice ratio is perfect - lots of parking outside CONS - no tablet system to order self leisurely (he said they are still fairly new so the chefs have a hard time keeping up, so maybe they might implement later?) - drinks aren't included in AYCE price here (however this can also be a pro as the price reflects this) - a little dark, and menu is a little hard to see as the background is dark as well (forgot to snap a pic) - next door is nail salon, so if you are sensitive to smells, you may feel a little nauseous My pros definitely overpowers the cons, therefore it's still a 5/5. Service was honestly great, and we really liked how we were checked on so often. My cousin had asked for just a half cup refill on his diet coke, and he was given a to-go of it. FYI, If you use a stamp card; better use it up quick as they will be importing a new system soon! Tai was so generous to still give me my stamps even though he said that they will be ending it in the near months but I guess hearing how often my cousin and I go to his memorial location, he signed it anyways, HAHA!

It is sweet and a bit soupy from all the sauce. The noodles are chewy and bouncy, and get coated in the sauce nicely. There is a good amount of meat that comes with it too! The flavors are great. 2) Jaengbanjjajang: This is my go-to and personal favorite noodle dish to get here. It is similar to their original jjangmyeon except that it is less soupy and has a bit of spice. The spiciness adds a nice kick balancing the sweet and savory flavors. There are also lots of different mix ins like squid, shrimp, beef, and vegetables! The play on textures and contrasting flavors is why I love this dish 3) Spicy Chicken Wings (Yangnyeom): For not being a chicken wing restaurant, Paiks sure does serve some banger wings. Juicy big wings with a slight crisp on the outside. The sauce is amazing. It is that sweet and spicy yangnyeom korean fried chicken sauce. 4) Tangsuyuk: I never visit Paisk without ordering their tangsuyuk. Perfectly fried with a great chew. The pork is not too porky or gamey which is nice, and the sauce is a sticky sweet and sour sauce. 4) Gunmandoo: Their panfried dumplings are quite nice too! I haven't gotten them in a while, but they were solid Overall, I don't think there was a single dish I disliked here at Paiks. Service is standard, not too fast not too slow. The ambiance is not really one for dates or anything. It's super casual with metal chairs. It can get a bit cold. There are restrooms and water dispensers. They used to have the self serve yellow radish but now they just serve it with your meal. You have to clean your table yourself and put all the dish trays in the back

Our waiter was incredibly attentive and fast, and the staff cooks the meat for you so you can fully enjoy the meal. There's also an in-house butcher, and you can absolutely taste the freshness and quality of the meat. We ordered the ABC platter with NY strip, boneless short rib, pork belly, plus an extra side of bulgogi, which was more than enough for 4 people. The side dishes were fantastic and the staff happily brought refills whenever we asked. Definitely make a reservation, and enjoy your time here...they never make you feel rushed.

We got the combo thing with a bunch of different meats, and the large pork belly was cooked first so we ended up waiting for a good amount of time, and once we started slowing down the beef tongue cooked very quickly and faster than we could eat. The banchan were pretty hit or miss. The kimchi and salad were highlights. Overall taking away a star because I've had better experiences at other high end kbbq restaurants in different cities.

This isn't a soju bar with load music or upscale interpretation of Korean cuisine. From the lamination on the menus to the traditional rice pot cookers that come table side, this is clearly something the owners put plenty of themselves into. It seems to connect with the intended crowd as the multiple groups of Koreans that followed in after us, are usually a good sign. The food is of good quality and offered variable spice levels on many of the dishes, so you are able to decide what type of experience you're going to have. The tteokbokki are plump and the sauce balances the tangy, spicy, and slightly sweet notes you're looking for. The kimchi pancake was plenty kimchi forward but ended up not having all the crispy texture you can get from the scallion pancake cousin they serve. I order the Glabi and enjoyed my seasoning that it came with, nothing much to say either way here. The soondubu soup was full of tofu and not all too spicy on the medium heat level. I didn't fall in love with any particular dish, but I enjoyed all the options I went with.

We did the 3 meat BBQ combo, which easily feeds around 3 people and added a few extra dishes to share. We ordered the jahp chae, which is a stir fried glass noodle with vegetables and beef. It was AMAZING and probably our favorite dish of the night. Super flavorful but not oily at all which is rare for stir fried noodles. This was both of our favorites. We also tried tteok bokki, which is chewy rice cakes in a spicy sauce. They offer the option to add cheese and in hindsight I think that would have made it better. I was really excited for this one, but it didn't fully hit for me. It was good just not amazing and a little more spicy than I personally prefer. Lastly, we tried the yachae jeon which is a vegetable pan fried pancake, and WOW. It was huge, super crispy, and had sooo much flavor for a vegetarian dish. The meats and all the BBQ fixings were incredible. Honestly, every single thing that came to the table was amazing QUALITY and amazing FLAVOR. I also loved that the staff helps cook the meat for you which made the experience way more enjoyable. I have to shout out the customer service. From start to finish, the staff was amazing. They were patient with us as first timers, explained everything clearly, and made us feel super comfortable. We had a vegetarian in our group, and there were plenty of menu options for him. Our Korean friend ended up joining us and fully vouched for the restaurant's authenticity, which says a lot. Overall, this was such an exceptional meal and experience.
