They are open until 9 PM tonight. The restaurant is oddly laid out. Front area is divided by the sushi bar. The front area is blocked off from anyone sitting by the bar. Ordered two green house salads, lobster rolls, spicy california, futomaki, 2 Philly roll with crab salad instead of shrimp and a bamboo roll to go. They don't have any sriracha sauce at all, odd. Only could get up charge of spicy Mayo. Total was $52.47, not so cheap, hope it's good. I don't eat sushi without Sriracha, then everything would be bland and boring. No I have to go find a place where I can find some Sriracha, a bit of an inconvenience. The Philly roll was my favorite with the replaced crab salad and green onion. The rest of the rolls were just OK. The Futomaki was too fishy and they were only five pieces. The fake lobster roll was also not my thing. It also had roe in the mix with the fake lobster too. The California roll was so-so. The bamboo wasn't special and too slimy for my liking. The salads were blah. The meal as a whole was underwhelming. The rules were all pretty small for what you get you get here, definitely overpriced. read more

Enjoyed eating in a restaurant after such a long hiatus away bc of covid. Sushi Den was well prepared with precautions and we felt very comfortable dining there. The service was excellent. The ambience just so so. The fish quality very good. It's not fancy or elaborate in any way but if you want a relatively affordable sushi/sashimi choice, this fits the description. It's probably a 3.5 star overall. But I'll round up bc of the friendly staff and quick, attentive service. And I would come here again. read more

Best japan food near Detroit. As a chinese been to Japan 4 times, I would say some food is almost as good as in Tokyo. Recommend tempura shrimp and sashimi. Not as fresh as in Hokkaido of course but already decent for a Japanese restaurant in US. read more

The decor may be a little dated, but the food and the staff are awesome! My dad loves this place and I'm glad he recommended it. Definitely authentic Japanese Cuisine. The Gyoza was very good, crispy outside and juicy inside and the sushi was so fresh. The Sushi Large usually comes with Sea Urchin, but they ran out, so I substituted it for Belly Tuna and it melted in my mouth, so good! The waitresses were very nice and the chef was sociable with the customers when he wasn't cooking. This place did not disappoint, it proved to me not all restaurants need a fancy, or even an updated interior, to be a good restaurant, this is one of them. Again, over and over we go back, and it's always 5 star Japanese eating. My wife and used to live in Japan, and this is just like the local restaurant down the block in Japan. Sushi Den is as legit as it gets in the Walled Lake area! Most guests there spoke Japanese only, as does the staff. It's funny because I'm pretty sure I've seen George at another Japanese restaurant I used to frequent but can't remember where. I love ramen and I love spicy salmon roll, it was quite fortuitous that they have a lunch special for a ramen with a spicy salmon crunch roll. Perfect! I know a lot of places gives half an order of noodles, but I'm pretty sure that was a full sized ramen. I guess technically in this case the roll was the side. I love their tonkotsu soup for their noodles, it's delicious. It also has a piece of rice cake, a slice of pork and some bamboo shoots in it. I could've done without the bamboo shoots, I'll just have to remember to ask them not to put them in next time. The spicy salmon crunch roll was excellent. I really enjoyed the added texture of the little bits of tempura sprinkled in. Since this was a delayed review to begin with... within 3 days, I went back because I was already craving it. This time I had to do my test with the tempura udon. Again, the broth will never compare, but still quite good. The shrimp tempura was already in the soup, not my favorite way to serve it, but it is their way and it's good. I may have to go back again soon. read more

If you want sushi and happen to be in Walled Lake this is a decent option. The front room is a little dreary, the back room is better appointed. I ordered eight hand rolls, a side of avocado and spicy sauce...my bill came to $24. I think it's a little pricy but not bad. The fish was fresh, but nothing wowed me. I can however say that I enjoyed my lunch. My friends ordered a few rolls and everyone said that the food was good. To start off, service was excellent. Friendly staff of ladies who constantly kept our table of 8 refilled on tea and water. We ordered katsu, shrimp tempura, Edamame, soft shell crab for appetizers and then 3 spider rolls, 1 cucumber/avocado roll, 1 007, 1 spicy tuna crunch, 1 spicy salmon crunch, 1 yellowtail/scallion, 1 egg, 3 tako, 2 salmon nigiri, 1 dragon roll, 1 ocean roll and a bowl of the soba noodles with tofu and kelp. Dessert we let the kiddies have red bean and green tea ice cream. So good. Prices were pretty reasonable. Food was yummy. Our group was kinda loud but happy. :) We will be back to try other non sushi items. Oh btw...no changing table in bathroom. :( read more

When I came in I noticed the Lunch specials... various Soup/Noodle bowls w/ Spicy Shrimp Roll. I've been to Sushi Den about 2-3 times a month since last Christmas, except for last month. I walked in and asked about the Lunch special and asked if I could substitute the spicy Shrimp Roll for an Avocado Roll. I did not think it would be an issue - in my mind it would be cheaper. However George the owner/chef of Sushi Den said "it's a special, no substitutions." I told the guy, Ah ok, well I am allergic to Shellfish and thought there would not be any issue with getting an Avocado roll instead. So the waitress stood there about 5 inches from the table staring and waiting for me as I looked over the menu. Her staring and waiting like that was annoying. I asked her to give me a minute to look at the menu please without her hovering over me. The menu had many changes to it since I had visited back in September. Many items had higher prices from 50cent to $1 more. Normally i do not mind paying more for something if its a menu item I love to eat. I had my heart set on the Tonkatsu Udon. But It was no longer on the menu... only Tonkatsu Ramen - I don't mind Ramen, except its very common now. Udon is much heartier and tastier to me. I called the waitress over and asked if they still offered the Tonkatsu Udon. She stared at me like a Deer caught in my headlights. I asked again... She said sorry, no Udon. I asked if they could substitute the Udon for the Ramen? Again George the owner/chef piped in that there is "no substitutions." I cannot fathom WTF is the deal. They normally never had issue with making a dish a little but different in the past. I have had many times substituted Soba or Udon from Ramen for other Soup Bowls. This was maddening for me. I was not asking for anything major. Finally I looked at the waitress and at George and said Ya know what, I'm going to go somewhere else. This should not be this much trouble. Really pissed me off at the changes. I will find somewhere else to visit when I have the craving for some good Udon. For now Sushi Den is off my Top 10 list. Maybe I'll revisit next month, but after today's attempt I almost have no desire to come back. read more

Awesome little sushi shop. Japanese owned with Japanese clientele. Lunch entrees are $7-8 complete with miso, rice and traditional sides. Many options including ramen, udon and soba. I got take-out and my order was placed online with perfect accuracy. Next time i will eat there and try the special: ramen and a crutch salmon roll for only $8! read more

Sushi definitely deserves a 5 star rating but don't come here if you're looking for ambience. It has more of a coney island feel to it than an excellent sushi place. We tried several rolls including the california, spicy salmon, spicy crunchy tuna, potato, and avocado roll, all very good and fresh. We also tried a curry rice dish which was great, it was nice to have a cooked dish option to satisfy the taste buds of an 11 month old. Will definitely return! read more
