Went to try this place with my family, thought it was gonna be good because it looked good on instagram. Right when we walked in it seemed cool but when we sat down our table was wobbly, not to mention it was also sticky. We ordered our first round and it was ok. The rice tasted weird- it wasn't sushi rice. The fish tasted weird too. And I've had my fair share of ehhhh sushi. This place is EHHHHHHH. We tried to order a second round and sat and waited for nothing. We ended up canceling the second round and paying and leaving. It was honestly so gross I'm scared I'll get food poisoning. This place has gone downhill, the atmosphere used to be so charming now it's just bland. I used to love coming here with my friends, the flavors used to be amazing and the quality tasted great, service would be on top as well but since then this place has just been slowly losing itself. Came here and ordered the same things as always but this time the ramen was bland, it wasn't a biggie to us since there was still a hint of flavor but the bulgogi that I had ordered was straight flavorless and the meat quality was terrible, I'm honestly starting to feel sick. I asked for a remake just incase they messed up on accident but nope, next one came out with more oil, less flavor and meat that was even chewier and dry. Oh and the last couple time I've came I've had to wait 30+ mins for my food One time I waited 40 minutes for my bulgogi in a empty restaurant just for them to tell me that something was wrong with the printer and it didn't go through to the kitchen, should you really have a guest waiting 40 minute to tell them that? There's also something going on with the bathrooms, does it not lock? Saw so many times people enter the bathroom when others were already in there. Solid AYCE spot that I never knew was here! I always thought I had to make the drive to Mira Mesa or Clairemont or Chula Vista for AYCE when this spot was here the whole time. The quality was really good and there's a great selection, especially if you come for dinner. We got here around 6 and it filled up *fast* The staff were super friendly and they even told us about some new menu items they're adding, like oysters and soft shell crab. We got the lunch happy hour AYCE which doesn't include Sashimi or nigiri but it was still such a steal! The only real downside is that the rice was not really good. It felt really chewy which I didn't like. The service was nice, we got our food in a timely manner and I didn't have any issues with parking. read more

Stopped in at Sushi Factory while visiting San Diego. I appreciate that they have a parking lot behind the restaurant. I also appreciated that they opened on time. The service was mostly great and the food came out at a good pace. Downsides to this restaurant were that the sushi wasn't that great. It could have been much better. The variety of sushi was poor. It seemed like many of the rolls had the same or similar ingredients. Also, for the first round, you're limited to how much you can order. We left one piece of a sushi roll and was charged $16 for it. That's ridiculous and the lady that rang me up didn't even mention it or else I wouldn't have tipped. The restaurant itself is run down, the bathroom felt nasty and the building needs some upgrades. I will never visit this restaurant again. read more

Eating here after a nice hike in the sun was the best decision! The sushi is fresh and the pieces were basically almost on par with toro levels despite it not being toro. The sides were refreshing palate cleansers. The service from Tray-see and Knee were top tier! They were fast and efficient with bringing out our plates of nigiri. My favorite nigiri cut was the Escolar piece! Parking might be a bit hard to find but there should be plenty of street parking. Very clean and modern establishment. Sushi Factory has been on my radar since I've always driven by it on my way to work. Unfortunately my first time is going to be my last time. We did the AYCE lunch option which gives you the option to get nigiri however this was the most freezer burned pieces of sashimi I've ever had. The fish was chewy and rubbery which was hard to get through. I thought if I ordered a roll I would be able to get past the flavor of the fish, but it wasn't enough. I felt like I was going to get sick from the lack of freshness. The service was great when we were able to order our first round but after that, it was if our server was ignoring us. We never made it past the second round having tried to flag them down multiple times. Having bad service at an AYCE on top of the mediocre quality of fish for me is a no go. I've been to this restaurant many times over the years, mostly because it's close to my house. The food was never amazing, but it was decent, and the service used to be good enough to keep me coming back. Unfortunately, that's no longer the case. Over my last few visits, the service has become consistently poor. The last two times I ate here, nobody checked on my table after taking my order. On one of those visits, they completely forgot about my order, resulting in an even longer wait. Tonight was the final straw. Our server didn't bring napkins, took a long time to enter our order, and never once checked if we needed anything else throughout the meal. What concerns me most is their billing process. They don't provide an itemized bill unless you specifically ask for it and only after paying. Instead, they bring the payment machine with only the final amount displayed. Tonight, the server told me the total already included an 18% tip and handed me the machine. The lowest tip option available was 18%, and the system made it difficult to enter a custom amount. The previous time I visited, I suspected I had been overcharged, but because I wasn't shown an itemized receipt, I couldn't verify it at the restaurant. After getting home and doing the math, I realized I had in fact been overcharged. I should have called, but I forgot about it. Tonight, the exact same thing happened. This time I requested the receipt and confirmed that I had been overcharged again. When I pointed it out, the server said he didn't know how to process a refund and that nobody else there knew how either. He even stated he didn't even know why they were opened tonight. The only solution offered was to give me the difference in cash. At that point, I wished they would simply refund the transaction because, given the experience, I wouldn't have left any tip at all. Since they switched to the AYCE format, both the service and overall experience have gone downhill. Combined with what I consider mediocre food and repeated billing issues, I have no reason to return. After being a regular customer for years, this was my last visit. read more

What did bother us was the sushi and service. They didn't get all of our items each round and we kept having to ask for them. Came to Sushi Factory in El Cajon on a Friday night around 8:10 and put our names on the waitlist. We were told the wait would be 10-15 minutes, so we stepped out to grab boba. We're understanding people, so when 15 minutes passed, we decided to give them more time. After 30 minutes, we went back to check, only to be told at 8:40 that they would no longer be serving their AYCE menu. We left immediately, disappointed and frustrated--not only for the wasted 40 minutes but also because we strayed from our usual spot at Little Sakana. They should have informed us before putting us on the waitlist. To make matters worse, we wasted precious, expensive gas getting there. Usually, I don't write reviews, but this experience was extremely disappointing. Will not be returning. read more

Today I was looking for sushi in the College area when I stumbled upon Sushi Factory. The food was soooo good, came out so quickly, our server was very nice, and the inside decoration and lighting was so nice. I ordered a regular salmon roll and the BTS roll and both were so delicious. I most especially liked the BTS roll which had spicy tuna inside and seared salmon with sriracha on top it was amazing, definitely have to come back to try their all u can eat menu! read more

ACYE sushi is one of those things that are hit or miss, and this place is unfortunately a miss. This sushi place is located in a small business center with a small parking lot in the back. The restaurant itself has about 7 booths and a few smaller tables and is nicely decorated. The booth seats have no padding and are quite uncomfortable. We have been here 3 times and each time we had a different server. We only come here during lunch so service is fast enough. The food comes out in a reasonable amount of time as well. The fish is fairly fresh and some of the sauces are good, however, there is a lot of rice on the bottom of the nigiri. The shrimp tempura was well-cooked with a light crispy batter. The eel hand roll was terrible! A lot of rice inside the hand roll and there were so many little bones inside the eel. This is the second time that my wife ordered it and had to deal with the bones, some even getting stuck in her throat! For the price of $30 at lunch, its probably the most affordable AYCE sushi in San Diego, but compared to all the ACYE sushi places we've been to in California, this place leaves a lot to be desired. We gave this place 3 chances, and each experience was worst than the previous. I can't imagine coming here for A la carte. read more

Went for the AYCE sushi! The service was pretty good, and the servers were great at helping explain how ordering worked with the ayce option. Kids up to 11 are half priced from the regular price. The food was just OK, for $140 for 2 adults and 2 children I wasn't thrilled for the quality. Definitely more of a college type spot, a lot of younger crowds drinking beer towers and taking sake bombs (loudly and over and over). A good amount of seating, but the booths were pretty uncomfortable. I do like that they have parking in the back! Overall we unfortunately probably won't be back to sushi factory. I really wanted to love it but it's just not my vibe. read more

We were here on New Year's Eve so there were a few rowdy college kids around doing sale bombs. Slamming their cups in the table. Being generally rambunctious. So just know that can be a thing if you go in at the right time lol. We ordered a garlic tuna roll, and a college roll, with some bulgogi fried rice. Both rolls were really good, especially that college roll! That lemon on top adds the perfect tangy flavor I was looking for to make the fresh fish pop. That bulgogi rice though....needed a little help lol. I was about to dump all of the soy sauce on it to add flavor. The sushi was a win and that's enough to bring me back another time.
