Love that they came with umeboshi plums), jalapeño bomb (very good). That's where the goodish news ends. The fried rice included pickled ginger which is common but wasn't our fave, the lamb chops were very overcooked -- like shoe leather, and the rainbow roll didn't appear to include tuna. It came with seasoned chopped broccoli and mini bachoy. The gyoza to my surprise were pretty good, nice crunchy outer layer and a steamed cabbage and pork filling. The salad was average but well dressed and this was nice to have to break up the meal between fried and savory. The miso soup was also average but nice to sip on when munching on the gyoza. HIGHLY RECOMMEND CRUSH ORANGE SUSHI ROLL ($10/happyhour) - think of a California roll with imitation crab, layered with salmon, and flavored with squirts of orange. It was ok but I prefer the flavor to be with lemon over orange. This restaurant is located next to a liquor store in Linda Vista with only a few parking spots and a handful of tables inside. I feel like I'm in Japan already! The waitress was friendly and seated us right away. We usually come here for lunch on weekdays for happy hour, since the items on the HH menu are great deals. The only problem is that they close between lunch and dinner most of the weekdays (M-Th), so happy hour literally only lasts 1 hour between 2 pm and 3 pm. My wife and I have been here several times, and we have tried most of the items on the HH menu and some from their regular menu. I would NOT recommend the karage or the menchi katsu (worst thing we had). I would recommend the Udon curry, Udon carbonara, hand rolls, regular rolls, and chasu rice bowl. We had dinner here on Saturday night (02/14) from around 6:00-7:20pm. Most of the food was great and very interesting in flavor. We especially enjoyed the crispy rice with spicy tuna, the Yorimichi rolls, and the Linda Vista rolls. The mixed seafood poke was a bit too intense, but overall the food was good. Unfortunately, our experience was overshadowed by the service from one waitress (white T-shirt with a pink headband). She was extremely rude. When she brought two rolls to our table and we let her know that one of them wasn't ours, she placed it down forcefully without saying a word, then took it away. Later, when clearing dishes, she made a lot of noise stacking plates. When she brought out our ramen, she put it down loudly again and didn't say anything. This happened repeatedly throughout the evening. She never spoke to us at all, while we noticed her smiling and chatting with other tables. We're not sure what the issue was, but we felt racist, unsafe around, and unwelcome. We wanted to give feedback at the time, but it was a busy night with many customers waiting, so we decided to just leave. We still left a tip because another waitress (black T-shirt) was very kind and provided good service. Because of this experience, we can't give a higher rating, even though most of the food was enjoyable.
