Deeply Disappointed After More Than 10 Years as Loyal Customers My family and I have been coming to Jump Tokyo Sushi for more than ten years, and until tonight, we had always enjoyed both the food and the service. Unfortunately, this evening's experience was unlike anything we have ever encountered. We arrived at approximately 8:20 p.m. As soon as we were seated, we were informed that last call would be at 8:45 p.m., so we placed our order immediately out of respect for the restaurant's closing procedures. Our food arrived around 8:35 to 8:40 p.m. We had barely started eating when a woman brought us the check along with the payment terminal. We assumed this was simply part of the restaurant's closing routine. A few minutes later, she returned asking why we had not paid yet. We politely explained that we had just begun eating. She came back a third time asking whether we were finished and if she could clear our plates, even though we were clearly still eating. I calmly explained that I understand the restaurant business and fully respect the importance of closing on time. Her response was simply, "I don't care." I also told her that we had been loyal customers for more than a decade and had never experienced anything like this. Instead of listening to our concerns, she raised her voice, became sarcastic and confrontational, and stated that she was the owner. During this interaction, she took a photograph of me without asking for my permission or offering any explanation. I did not object because I knew I had done nothing inappropriate or disrespectful toward the restaurant or its staff. However, having my picture taken without any explanation made me feel extremely uncomfortable and came across as intimidating. What made this situation even more upsetting was that I was dining with my 82-year-old mother, who has limited mobility and medical conditions that require her to eat slowly to avoid choking and breathing difficulties. Repeatedly pressuring us to finish our meal under those circumstances demonstrated a complete lack of empathy. It was also evident that the other employees felt uncomfortable with the situation. From behind the sushi bar, they apologized to us for what had happened. The only person who never showed any empathy or offered an apology was the woman who identified herself as the owner. We completely understand and respect restaurant closing hours. However, there is a significant difference between informing customers that the restaurant is closing and repeatedly pressuring them to pay, attempting to remove their plates while they are still eating, and raising your voice when they respectfully express their concern. The quality of the food has always been one of the reasons we continued coming back for so many years. Sadly, the way we were treated tonight completely overshadowed the meal. I sincerely hope the management reflects on what happened. Respect, professionalism, and empathy are just as important as the food being served. No customer, especially an elderly guest with medical limitations, should ever be made to feel rushed, humiliated, or intimidated while simply trying to enjoy a meal they have paid for. read more

I think I found my new sushi restaurant. Perfect for big families because their prices are great ! We went last week and we got a lot of their March specials! You have to get the Jalepeno bombs to start things off ! My favorite sushi roll was their power roll ! Must try! Part of their march special was the 3 hand rolls for $19 !! Great little local spot. Staff was very attentive. They even gave us fresh wasabi. Overall it was a delicious meal and we will go back again once we're back down in San Diego. My only suggestion is they should clear out the area that's in front of the sushi bar so that people can actually sit at the sushi bar. read more

I loved the yellowtail kama it was perfectly cooked! I didnt like the salmon kama, it was too fatty. The deep fried avocado was okay would have been nice if it was stuffed with crab or tuna. Restaurant is located in a good plaza with plenty of parking! Service was wonderful and Sarah (co-owner) was lovely to talk to regarding recommendations. We go to this place with my family all the time and they remember my sister and her husband and kiddos, and are so friendly to families. I went tonight with just my bf and I and they made their freshest best rolls we've ever had. We always get the Long Island roll 10/10 and just added the Oishi roll tonight which will be the new order moving forward 10/10 too, plus the salmon belly and blue fin tuna nigiri was so insanely fresh and good. We also had some gyoza too that did not disappoint with a tasty dip. The hot saki is delicious and most of this had a happy hour discount M-W 3-Close. The server continues to check on us verified our food was good, drinks were filled, etc. Spent about 45 minutes here... Time for the bill...for 4 of us...barely at $100! This is our family favorite restaurant and my kids favorite restaurant! The food here is so yummy and fresh. We love the 3x3 sushi, kids boxes, and rolls (e.g. caterpillar, rainbow, Philly, Long Island, no rice roll). The atmosphere is so wonderful. They recently upgraded the interior and it looks great. They always decorate and have fun, newer music on. The staff is super nice to us and our children, and it's family owned which we love. We thoroughly enjoy getting to know everyone here. I was so hungry as I was fasting all day but.not on purpose. I drove to Mission Valley, the hub of bustling activity from shopping to dining! I was not sure what type of cuisine. I was greeted warmly by the waitress with a smile. I felt welcomed and felt this was the place I was meant to be. The waitress informed me to start out with a jalapeño creme-cheese popper with a small salad appetizer because it was so good and popular . I then ordered the Salmon roll with Avocado. The appetizer arrived first and omg I was in Tokyo Heaven! It was spicy and so delicious! My taste buds were dancing with happiness! Then, my sushi roll arrived which I devoured because the flavor was fresh and flavorful! I ate my entire appetizer and entree because the flavors of the food were out of this world awesome! Also, there is familiar and trendy music playing in the background to add to the dining experience. I had a wonderful dining experience. I want to applaud the Sushi chefs for preparing the tantalizing food and the waitress who was so helpful and friendly! And, the rest of the wait staff that contribute to the success of "Jump Tokyo!"
