First time here, and I was so excited when I found out they had Pho. They have a small parking lot that is shared with multiple businesses, but we found a good parking space. We were greeted immediately and taken to our seat. We checked out the menu, and my husband attempted to order short ribs, but they were out. He then tried to order combination fried rice, but they didn't have that either. That is why I gave them a four. But that's talk about what they did have. My husband and daughter got the teriyaki chicken with white rice, I got veggie Pho, and for appetizers, they got dumplings and egg rolls and I got "monkey brains" which is fried mushrooms with salmon and cream cheese. Can I tell you everything was amazing!!! I have been looking for authentic pho for so long, and I found it. I didn't know it was in Kansas. Have been going here for about 7-8 years. Service and quality has really deteriorated. Same guy that is usually rolling sushi wasn't there. They no longer have a liquor license so you can't get a sake or Sapporo to go with your sushi. Rolls were so poorly constructed they would fall apart before you could get it to your mouth. Giving Sushi Garden a 4 out of 5 stars as I didn't particularly like the food I ordered. I ordered the Kpop Bulgogi Roll which had beef bolgolgi, some sort of seafood I didn't recognize, cucumber, and pickled radish. It sounded like a bimbimbap sushi roll which typically love and order. But this wasn't it. It was well made but I was expecting a different flavor profile. I understand that's a preference thing. I have been to Sushi Garden more than a handful of times. I am never unimpressed. I like to get the Delicate Roll and the Mongolian Beef Roll which is not something that you find too often. I was very surprised today. We went in again for lunch because of their lunch special sign out front and found that the food was outstanding as usual but what was even better with them that was the dessert. They had Matcha ice cream, which I had never had before. It is excellent. It is actually green tea ice cream. Matcha is green tea. Finally ground. The service was excellent and the mood inside the place was nice. Calm and peaceful for lunch. I am so disappointed in Sushi Garden! My family of 5 went in for a 6pm dinner. My children are between ages 6-12 and know how to behave at a restaurant. We were seated at a table right in front of the door. It quickly became apparent that we were going to be frozen out with the door constantly opening and closing so we asked to sit in one of the booths in the back of the restaurant. We were denied and told that this booth was specifically designed for children and couldn't sit in the back. It is a normal booth--nothing special--just by the door. We told them it was too cold and simply got up and left. I have never had this happen before and am surprised this is how families are treated. It's their loss because we all like sushi and would've spent a considerable amount on dinner. We won't be going back due to the unfortunate customer service. read more

My visit was for takeout of only my favorite, miso soup. The order was ready upon arrival and even stayed warm on my return home. The restaurant is tucked between an IHop & Taco Johns location in Lansing, Kansas. With such helpful service I would be willing to go back and try their other dishes. They should have a sign on the front door that says only 2 tables next to the cold door for babies or just say no babies aloud. She let us know she had no boosters or high chairs when she greeted us and no we could not have a whole booth and there was 6 of us including a baby!! Sushi Garden has great food for a great price. The lunch bento boxes are a crazy amount of food for a cheap price. The spicy chicken and beef bulgogi are some of my favorites. The sushi rolls are standard for what you would find at most sushi places. The services is always fast and extremely friendly. I have been offered free soup several times when I arrived to eat while I waited for my pickup order. The sushi roll combos are a great deal as well as you get about 16 pieces between the two rolls for about $10-12. read more

I have a confession to make, and it's that I eat grocery store sushi for the most part...now that I've gotten that out of the way I decided to step my game up today and went to Sushi Garden. Based on reviews, I got a Gangam Style roll and it was AMAZING and huge. I also got a Miso soup and calamari. It's all perfectly OK. The fish is almost wholly uninspiring, but this doesn't mean that the kitchen doesn't have skills, the K-POP bulgogi roll provides proof of that. That might be your best option. Still, the side salad is so unforgettable as to make you think that maybe these guys are just phoning it in a bit. There are lots of reasons to go to sushi. But if you go for the sushi better not this place. The Chef is not happy. His food is frozen and you would think if he charges 17.99 for a roll, it would be a roll that has flavor. I could not see more than a tablespoon of crab meat in the roll most of it had literally nothing inside of it, no avocado though it was supposed to. The rice was doubled so the size was normal but made it clear it was intentional to make it with nothing inside. The sesame seeds on the top was a whisp of ground flakes a picture would have offered more flavor. I asked for extra sesame seeds they said they were out??? The sashimi was almost still ice. Took a long time to get while it thawed. 33 dollars and I am sure the Chef purposely chooses which customers will get good food and which will get nothing but over charged. Avoid this place if you are looking for quality Sushi. Go to Saint Sushi instead! I never get on yelp but sometimes its the only thing you can do. Needless to say I will never go back. read more

Food here was ok. We had.... 1) Shrimp fried rice- Was disappointed in shrimp size. The picture in the menu is deceiving. The shrimp we got was very small compared to the picture. The fried rice lacked in little flavor as well. 2) Bulgogi- Lacked the authentic bulgogi flavor in my opinion. Tasted more like beef stir-fry. 3) Spicy garlic chicken- My husband liked it. Probably because it tasted very similar to something I make at home using sauce from a jar... Lee Kum Kee Chili Garlic sauce. Paying about $16.00 for this dish, I hope they are using an in house sauce and not from a jar. 4) We had a spicy crab sushi roll (forgot the name of it). Really wasn't into sushi this night, but my son wanted sushi. I thought the roll was small for the price, but my son enjoyed it. I was disappointed that they don't have some of the cheaper basic rolls for like $4-5 because a lot of places do, so we opted to get a couples combo which included 4 specialty rolls for around $30 I believe. OK quality, but it's the quickie cheapie sushi approach: The California Rolls have the "mix" filling, mashed crab mix, and the tuna/salmon rolls have the mashed filling mixed, Not real pieces of fish. It's That mashed mix paste stuff at the cheapie places like gas stations lol. Barf. And I ordered a Rainbow Roll.... Paper thin fish cuts on top with the mashed mix California stuff inside. Not worth $13. The sushi isn't bad... it tastes good... but it's way overpriced for this cheapie approach. 3 rolls, a soda, miso and tip you are at $35-$40 a person for gas station sushi overpriced. Ok so we came here for lunch today. We finished & paid, but my friend thought the tip was included in our check. The manager/chef walked up to our table & emphatically announced to the entire restaurant that we didn't give a tip. Kept repeating "was there a problem with your service?!" This is the second sushi place we visit in this area, first is better than the other( the one that has 4.7 starts with grill /sushi) it's a quiet place, fast service, sushi was better ,but you have to also understand this is KS, I'm frim west coast so I'm used to a lot better, but again this is KS, so the options are good, you get Japanese and Vietnamese option ( PHO), the sushi menu is smaller than usual for me, but it's definely better than others in town, it satisfied my sushi craving and my kids live for Pho and Udon soup. read more

The food here was off the chart for me. The flavors of the teriyaki blended well with the rice as I like it. The chicken was moist. I didn't try the sushi but seemed like it was good. The service was not that great in my eyes. There was one waitress having her dad or chef keep making samples for this customer. Like right in front of me and i found that distasteful. The sushi was good, but the service was awful. I was there with my wife and two kids. We were seated right away, but we were sitting for more than 20 minutes and nobody had come to greet us or take our drink orders. I finally went to the service station to ask for waters because my daughter was complaining of thirst. When they finally came, they didn't bring waters and we had to ask again. Then they took our orders. We ordered a Heart Attack appetizer, Rainbow #2, Rainbow #3, Pink Lady, and Sun Kissed rolls, and kids chicken teriyaki meal. All the food was good, but it took over an hour after we ordered before it came. The appetizer came out after the rolls. Overall, I'm going to look for a better sushi spot but I'd eat there again in a pinch. read more
