This was my first time dining here after a friend highly recommended their sushi and hibachi. The restaurant has a very small, low-key, and intimate feel to it, which ended up being perfect for us since we had my friend's child with us. It felt cozy and welcoming rather than loud and hectic. Even though the space is small, there was a good mix of people -- quite a few larger groups dining together as well as some couples on dates. I started with the House Salad with ginger dressing, and also tried the Squid Salad. Unfortunately, the Squid Salad wasn't for me; it had a bit of an odd taste and didn't seem as fresh as the other items. However, the sushi more than made up for it! I ordered the OMG Roll, plus another roll that I can't quite remember the name of -- it was served on top of foil and was delicious. Both sushi rolls were absolutely amazing, fresh, and flavorful! My friend went with the Chicken Teriyaki Entree; the chicken tasted okay, though the sushi was definitely the star of the show. What really stood out was the service. The staff members were incredibly kind and patient. My friend's child was acting up and whining quite a bit, but the servers were very understanding and made us feel comfortable despite the fuss. If you're looking for a quiet spot with great sushi and a family-friendly staff, this is a great choice!

Wow I was really impressed with the sushi here!! For this area, it was actually really good. The sushi tasted fresh and the flavors were great . Portions were nice too. The menu is huge and even has udon and other non sushi options. I also would check out the chef special. The one we had was amazing! We also got the seaweed salad which I forgot to take a photo of but that portion is huge. Would definitely be enough as an app for four people. Really yummy as well. The cucumber really accents the seaweed! Cute little spot. There's actually a decent amount of seating and you can see some of the chefs working as well. ‍ Definitely am coming back here!! Yum!!!

This is chirashi bowl, but it's basically just a sashimi combo plate with a lump of rice.

To be honest, I think it's typical mediocre Midwestern sushi. Nothing was awful, nothing was great. I sat at the sushi bar, the staff did not acknowledge me. I ordered the chirashi bowl, which was served on a plate, and was basically just a sashimi combo with a big lump of rice with barely any seasoning on it. The quality of the fish was mediocre, and all the fish was cold - not served at room temperature as traditional sushi is served. It came with the soup or salad, I opted for salad, and the dressing was Ranch... Which just feels so American and not authentically Japanese at all. I was hoping for the ginger dressing. I just don't think the food here is inspired or unique, there are definitely better sushi places in our metro.

Food was very good. I had wow sushi. It was so delicious that I ordered another one to go. I also ordered a combo fried rice to go. I also ate a piece California and a piece of Philadelphia roll. All the good was delicious. I had hot sake which was also delicious. The service was also excellent. I will definitely come back in the future.

I absolutely love this place in Liberty! The service is always amazing, the food never disappoints, and the owners give it a homey kind of feel! I love to get the angry dragon roll. If you look at the picture, it actually looks like a dragon! I definitely recommend this place of you are looking for great sushi and even hibachi!

They have pepsi fountain products, but the iced tea isn't fresh brewed, so i got water. For dine in, it's delivered in plastic take out boxes. Neither my friend, nor I finished our entrees, so this was highly convenient. Our appetizers arrived with our entrees. I loved my Chicken Katsu. The Chicken was crispy, noodles were hot and perfect, and veggies hot, firm, and al-dente. I used a drizzle of the house teriyaki sauce on the chicken and it was Awesome! My friend got the double meat bowl with the spicy chicken and orange chicken. It was a very generous amount of protien. The spicy chicken was milder than I expected ( I'm a spice wimp ). If you like spicy there is Sriracha on every table. The Dining room is clean, bright, but i wouldn't call it cozy.

Both were very good, however the amount of salmon for the price was not really worth it in my opinion. Every menu item feels very intentional and well executed. The offerings on the cocktail menu are fabulous. Both the ube and lychee cocktails are delicious. My partner and his mom both had a sake flight, each offering was delicious and different in offering. If you like sake you will definitely find one you like with this flight! They both ended up liking a yuzu sake and split a bottle, the finish was sweet, crisp and perfect for the Kansas City heat. I started with an espresso martini, the coffee flavor was strong and sweet and I was a fan! During our meal I opted for a martini corner dirty vodka martini and as a dirty martini enthusiast I was very pleased and will continue to recommend! I finished off with a matcha martini that was sweet, creamy and smooth and paired perfectly with our tempura banana! Speaking of food, the star of the show, we genuinely had only good bites here as usual. We sat at the bar on the corner, it was a nice seat that captured the energy of the restaurant, busy but somehow tranquil. Our bartender was great as well as all the staff behind the bar and host stand! I especially appreciate the patience of our bartender, we came and ordered many rounds of small plates, (you should do the same!) and he was nothing but enthusiastic and helpful. To start we had some furikake fries and shishito peppers. There are a lot of exciting and multilayed dishes on the menu, I think these two humble sides though really pack a punch and show that everything on the menu brings it's A game. From there the food ordering escalated as everyone in my group was over the top excited. The stand outs for me were, the dry aged salmon nigiri, the toro hand roll, the crab apple roll and my group was especially blown away by the scallops and are still talking about them a week later! Noka is in my opinion, really bringing a new level of dining to Kansas City. I'm not over stating it to say it is one of a kind in this city and everyone should try to get in.

We were excited to try the new sushi and seafood options from the menu, as well as retrying some of our old favorites. When we walked in, we noticed there are a lot more tables, making the space a bit louder than our precious visits. That's great, though, that the place is packed! We also were a bit disappointed with the flavors of the food and drinks. Our first visit was amazing a few years ago, and this visit, even the things we remembered loving were a bit worse. The sushi and sashimi were okay, but also seemed less flavorful than expected. While we were excited to come back, the visit left us thinking that Noka may not be on our places to visit for a bit.

The staff are incredible--super knowledgeable, nice, conversational, and friendly. What more could you ask for? The food is FANTASTIC. I don't know how they categorize their style of cuisine but I'd call it "Japanese fusion" for lack of a better, more specific take. It's largely (or wholly?) Japanese, but I've been to Japan many times and am a huge fan of Japanese cuisine of all varieties, and I couldn't pinpoint some of the dishes, but this is not a criticism, only an explanation as to why I am challenged with categorizing the place. All small plates, we had excellent cocktails and a variety of (recommended) small plates, all of which were surprising and excellent. Standout dishes: well, all of them, but the Corn & Crab Okonomiyaki was delicious--and different; the skewers with Jidori Chicken Oyster, Barham Farm Chicken Heart, and Barham Farm Chicken Tsukune were delectable; and the local Enoki Mushroom Tempura--also incredible and should have ordered a second.
