A few things to say. First off, the food; the make or break of any restaurant. Great. The crayfish are delectable, and lo mein is nice too. Some grievances however, the fries are a bit undercooked, and having the ice cream just out like that isn't the most sanitary. I haven't seen much wrong with the service, the lady (or guy) at the front sits us down, and we get refills every once in a while. Then they hand us the bill, and that's really it. Haven't been here before and I always see this place since who know when. Decided to try it out on new year day and they had a special menu. For the cost, it wasn't too bad. The Chinese food stuck out more for me than the American food like prime roast. Everything was fresh and tasty. It was a good kind of busy that means the food is always cooking and there was plenty of seatings too. We sat at the very end in the next room where it was quiet and away from the buffet. I've been coming here a couple times with my boyfriend for both lunch and dinner buffet, and weekend buffets too. They have a lot of selection for the price. I love the coconut shrimp the most! Service is quick and efficient! They are quickly to seat you and clear your table and refill drinks. Everytime we come this place is almost always packed and they have plenty of tables across like three rooms. Buffet in the weekends totally worth it with several options of seafood and meats. The staff was great. The food options are incredibly. The hibachi station and ice cream options are awesome. There is an entire section for appetizers. This restaurant came highly recommended, however if I could receive a refund, I'd gladly take it. First off, the person at the door acted as if she couldn't care less whether customers came in or not. This was a very poor first impression. Why did t I leave then? Shame on me!!! She barely even directed me to a seat....no people skills...AT ALL!!! I will say my server was phenomenal! She was extremely attentive, kind and professional. I couldn't have been more pleased with her service. The food...well, another story. Just about everything I chose was not hot...in fact, it was barely warm. Are you serious? We had a nice dinner here. Great friendly service, decent prices, Pepsi products, fully stocked buffet with tons of options. There's hibachi where they made what you select fresh, and there is sushi. Have visited now a 2nd time. We like this buffet pretty well, both the buffet and the teppanyaki grilling station has good variety. Check. The waitstaff has been quick to get us seated quickly, with our drinks waiting for us, refilled repeatedly, and check delivered at appropriate times without waiting. Check. The only thing we both commented that we thought could be better thought out and more hygienic is to not require everyone to bend way down into the ice cream cooler, using the same ice cream scooper, sometimes struggling to be able to dig in enough to get a scoop. We also don't exactly like the idea of bending your torso over 4 tubs of ice cream and god knows what is falling off the chest, face, hair of myself, or others, into that ice cream. Very clean inside but also quite dark. It definitely is decorated like a standard Asian buffet not modern in any sense, but the seating is spread out in a nice manner so that you aren't near a lot of people but are near the central buffet. The servers are very eager and fast to refill water and clear plates effectively. The food buffet area is maintained to cleanliness standards, and the options are presented nicely and are kept hot, but also it seemed they are removed and replaced frequently to guarantee freshness. The entire experience at Asian Buffet is exactly what you'd expect from just that, an Asian buffet. As for the food selection, nothing stands out as incredibly delightful, but also nothing stands out as bad, so that's good. I've ate at a lot of Chinese Buffets and I must say this one wins the blue ribbon. It's clean, spacious, friendly and most of all delicious. It's the first buffet and knew how to fix Egg Foo Young, my favorite. Several rows of food something for everyone. Always filled and hot nothing was dried out. Crab Rangoon was also. delicious. Several types of soup some I had never seen before. Everything looked delicious and inviting. I went during lunchtime and no problem being seated. This is the first buffet with Chinese that I've been too in a very very long time. But this one is probably one of the best I've ever been to. Very clean, excellent service and the food is topped off regularly with fresh hot varieties. My favorite was the General Tsaos Chicken very flavorsome, slight crunch with spicy sweet sauce. Delish! The Egg rolls, and the soups were very good, sushi was very good too and very fresh tasting except for the artificial crab on the one. But it still tasted great. Wasn't a fan at all of the beef n broccoli and the spring rolls had an odd taste to it. Husband got the Mongolian bar to make his dish and the one pictured was his second trip. He loved it. The bar was missing a non fried version of Chinese like Moo Gai Pan or garlic chicken, fresh shrimp or chicken spring rolls would be ideal for me personally and so that was a bit of a disappointment but maybe today wasn't the day for that. This is a very good place with a full selection of entrees, sides and even multiple very good desserts. What a selection of seafood. Very well prepared with all of the spices I've come to expect at a buffet. Not being a glutton, I surely only tried about 10-20% of the lunch/dinner items and all of it was good or very good. Because the displays were ample and generous, I had only one plate for lunch and another for dessert; I was also pleased with the checkout process that left me with a perfunctory fortune cookie containing a pleasant fortune. Whereas some buffets put out plenty of cooked seafood, not all are as thoroughly well seasoned and prepared. Food: 4 stars. The service was prompt and excellent from hello to goodbye. It's mainly an upbeat family atmosphere, not particularly intimate or romantic. Pleasant and studiously kept clean by an attentive but unobtrusive staff. Service: 5 stars! Ambiance: 3.5 stars. Our family went here for the first time since moving to Missouri. There were 6 adults & 4 children in our party. Upon entering we were warmly greeted like friends. The hostess was friendly & nice. The atmosphere was pleasant & welcoming. The variety of food was beyond expectations. Everything was fresh & so yummy from sushi to seafood choices, chicken galore & even roast beef. Vegetable dishes too. There was a variety of fresh fruit, and an extensive salad bar as well. Fresh, hot soup & won tons. Desserts galore including ice cream. The absolute finest Chinese restaurant they have a nice sushi bar and a big hibachi grill that will grill your food to perfection. Food has all different taste different spices. I've never ever had anything even not good there. It was all delicious. We eat there. I love salt & pepper shrimp! I can only find it the at chinese buffets. So while scrolling thru yelp..I come across this place. I called and the gentleman that answered was very friendly. I inquired about the price of the buffet.. Etc. So fast forward..Once I walked into the buffet...a friendly man greeted me. I informed him that I was not from the area and asked if I could view the food items. He said yes...and low and behold...I spotted the shrimp on the buffet. The shrimp were seasoned soooo good. I honestly have to admit these are THE best salt & pepper shrimp to ever pass thru these lips. The ribs were tender and seasoned just right. I also had a few other items on the buffet that were so good. The buffet was clean, fresh food was constantly being bought out. The atmosphere was family oriented and the staff was very friendly. The food is lackluster. Among your average Asian buffets, I would give this one a 2/5. They had a decent variety of items, but nothing really tasted that good. To top it off, the place was dirty. It just looked like it wouldn't be able to pass inspection. It would be different if the food was bomb, because I'm down for hole in the walls if the food is worth it. But naw, this wasn't it. Ordered takeout here - service was quick and courteous. Ordered the crab Rangoon - these are huge! And stuffed to the brim, delicious! Also tried the vegetable lo mein noodles, and asked him to make it extra spicy and add additional vegetables, which he obliged. He also gave me some additional chili oil so I could make it as spicy as I'd like. I wish the noodles were left to be a little more charred for the crispness, but that's just my preference. This is one of our go-to places to eat, usually lunch on Sunday. Appreciate the wide selection, and food always seems fresh and good. For the variety and amount of food, the price is well-worth it (I want to say around $12-13 per person? I mean, come on, you get close to that at McDonalds with nowhere near the selection and quality). They seem to have a lot of things for the kids, too, as we see a lot of families there. Please let me start off by saying I am not one to complain. Nonetheless, I would be remiss if I didn't share what I witnessed in this restaurant a couple weeks ago on Sunday. It was absolutely appalling and it is still in the forefront of my mind. I live in the Northland and I have never seen this happen with my own two eyes anywhere in KCMO. I truly wish I wouldn't have ever had to see such a gross display of racism in my own neighborhood. First off, this is not a place I will ever revisit. I have eaten here twice in the few years this restaurant has been open. Once, when they first opened and the taste was disgusting. The service was lackluster and somewhat rude. I had no desire to eat here after the first trip. On a whim, I recently gave them another shot. It took me some years to give them another chance. I was not surprised the food once again tasted terrible and was not fresh. The service was ridiculous on this day. The service. Which brings me to my whole reason for writing this review. In a few words disgusting and appalling. I saw the middle aged man and his three children mistreated at this restaurant. The people in charge should be fired. They singled out this little family and disgusted me in the process. Does this restaurant have a problem with children? Or black people? Either way, they should not be in the business of serving people if they do not feel like serving everyone. The Father of the three children was furious as he should have been. Kudos to him though for letting the manager know what was what. To watch everything unfold it makes me sick to think this is still something that we as a society have to combat. It saddens my heart to think of what the children must've felt during the process of being treated poorly. I am an adult and I'm uncomfortable with what happened here. I hate that the children had to endure this. I will never eat here again. I am happy the dad stood up for himself and his children. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, it is on me. Never again. To be honest, I wish they would put Jose Peppers back in this building. read more
