If you're looking for good sushi, KC Sushi is NOT the place. While the service was great, the food was not. My boyfriend and I ordered 2 tuna rolls for carryout and received what barely resembled sushi. The seaweed smelled rancid and didn't stretch fully around the roll, the tuna was warm, and the pieces themselves were cut inconsistently and too big. We ended up throwing the entire thing away after trying to eat a couple pieces... Though our order was for carryout, the drive home was around 10 minutes so I don't believe that contributed to the food's quality. Super disappointing! Maybe we will come back to try the hibachi, but I doubt it. read more

We were seated quickly and it wasn't too busy when we came in. The atmosphere was stylish and comfortable, with many arrangements of tables that gave a sense of privacy, with bamboo and clear plastic dividers. The service was attentive and good, our orders came out in a timely manner with everything correct. The food was delicious, I would definitely recommend the udon! The sushi rolls were also really good, with great portion size for the price. The crab rangoons were also tasty, and came with sweet and sour dipping sauce. On the other side of the restaurant, they had hibachi tables for chefs to cook at the table with fun fire displays. I've been here many times. Ive eaten here in all different ways, whether it be picking up my food, getting my food delivered, or eating at the restaurant. Every single time has never missed and I will continue to eat here every single time I have a sushi craving. I ONLY order the spicy Kani salad and Daikon Roll. Say it with me, each and every time. And when I say the Daikon roll is just so absolutely refreshing, it just makes me happy each and everytime way. The sour daikon pairs well with the raw fish pairs well with the soy sauce based drizzle. Just please give this a try. Its also no rice, so something that's very light and refreshing! they were nice. but extremely slow on mother's day. had been there for 15 minutes and no service was provided. we where then sat and it took an addiontal 45 minutes to even get someone over to start. people at our table had been there before us and had to wait an hour and 25 minutes. the food was extremely hot. which is good but the soup almost burned my mouth and burned my leg. and it was extremely dirty, the floors was sticky. and i had to sit the towel on my chair. it was disgusting. i hardly wanted to move. they where nice but definitely need to improve things. read more

We came here for a special occasion. Food had good flavor and everyone was very friendly. I made reservations and I'm glad that I did. I called back to try to adjust my reservation and the lady on the phone said they only had one cook for the evening, so my reservation would get pushed out quite a bit. We opted to keep the original reservation. My son had Mongolian last week at a different place which is also located north of the river. He said the other place had larger portions than this one. Food tasted about the same. I also felt like the portions were a little bit smaller, so that would be the only negative. The menu had dessert on it but when we were done, no one came around to ask if we wanted dessert. We did feel like we were rushed to get out. That might be because they were a little short staffed. A late visit. This is one of those times where I met up with some friends and we swapped stories for hours over some cigar an scotchs. Suddenly it dawns on us that we are hungry... so the topic of food comes up and it is settled on sushi. Well in the area we have few choices and the choices we do have aren't scheduled to be opened much longer. We chose KC Sushi solely based on the fact that they were open later... only thirty minutes but hey I'll take what I can get! So the sushi roll menu is long... it could have been on a scroll... actually that is a good idea because then it would be printed be enough for me to read without running to the car and finding my glasses that I forgot. Nah... I just pretend that I am taking pictures of the menu for Yelp and use the zoom feature! Works like a charm! (look for my review of an eye doctor, coming not soon enough!) We place an order of several rolls and several drinks. Every one of the rolls came out in perfection... very delicious and presented fantastically. The prices fit with the place as well. So I was very pleased. I did try a fruity cocktail that was blue with an umbrella and palm fronds in it... which I can't recommend... but I don't like fruity cocktails so I'll chock that up to the aforementioned scotch making me order that. This is an ok sushi place. Instead of KC Sushi... it should be called barely ok sushi. Sorry, we waited 15 minutes for water and a menu. We eventually placed our order, and got our food. We ran out of wasabi and the waitress didn't check on us for 15 minutes more, which is not good when you are eating sushi. We finally got our check and a to-go box. After much research on hibachi places in the Northland, we decided on KC Sushi. It was only ok. The food was good, although some things were a bit different from what I'm used to. The salad dressing was actually chilled "yum yum" sauce. It wasn't bad, but the places I've been before serve more of a ginger vinaigrette with crunchy noodles. The menu says the teppanyaki dinner includes a "shrimp appetizer." In my experience, that was a small bowl of maybe 6 small pieces of shrimp that everyone who ordered hibachi got. I ordered steak and shrimp so I got a nice serving of shrimp but I kid you not when I say my husband and others at the table literally got ONE shrimp as their "appetizer." I find that extremely misleading. The steak was well cooked, flavorful and tender and the variety of sauces were good. They have the "yellow stuff" which is a hollandaise-type sauce and was delicious. read more

There were no customers waiting for a table and the sushi bar was empty. The servers were already closing- clearly in a rush to get out of there. We came the night before Thanksgiving, and it was pretty obvious they were both slammed and understaffed. Okay, we can be understanding. But our drinks came 20 min in to our seating. Our hibachi guy was super nice but didn't do any of the usual fun tricks we expect from performative cooking. Okay, we get it. But...we had ordered sushi and it literally came after our food was done and we were super full ugh! We tried to cancel it as soon as we could but she said it was too late. Our server was definitely overwhelmed but she didn't seem to really have a sense of urgency. The sushi was sub-par and our food was good which is a saving grace. Had lunch here...not really a fan. I went during lunch/happy hour and sat at the sushi bar. The venue is dark and very cold; the a/c was blasting. Happy hour on Saturdays is from 1130pm-400pm (M-F: 11-2pm, 430-630pm; Sunday: 1130-2pm). There are about 15 choices of sushi rolls during happy. I had the spicy tuna roll, shrimp & vegetable tempura, and nigiri sushi: super white tuna, hamachi (yellowtail), magaro (tuna), ikura (salmon roe). The spicy tuna roll lacked depth of flavor. Seemed like the grounded ahi was just mixed with sriracha....boring :( The tempura had a very chewy texture. The batter probably had too much cornstarch. The shrimp was also overcooked. You can see in the picture how dark the shrimp batter is compared to the vegetables (or maybe the oil that they were fried in need to be changed). Also the tentsuyu (tempura dipping sauce) was cold! Not really a fan of this, the sauce should be warm or hot. Fish quality for the nigiri was barely passing in my opinion. Understandable products were frozen multiple times because the nature of the location. However, tuna should not have a slightly watery taste. The hamachi was anything but fatty, buttery tasting. The ikura was also not the greatest quality. Some of the roe was actually white, probably just came out of the freezer (I'm thinking this is not a popular choice here). Overall, there is probably a better place around here to get better quality sushi; however, prices during happy hour are very reasonable. If you are searching for value versus higher quality this is the place to go for happy hour. read more

Amazing service!!! The food at Kc Sushi is phenomenal. The Joplin Roll and the California Roll are so so so so sooooo good. The service too was the greatest! My server had curly brown hair and was white. He was so nice the whole time! I don't know if you can but he should actually get a raise. DO NOT visit this restaurant in the Summer. We went last night (13July) and it was at least 85 degrees inside. A typical dinner at the hibachi grills are 2 hours, and our whole party sweated the entire time. They did bring some fans, which helped maybe a little. One member or our party couldn't even eat, instead she went out and sat in her car and ran her air conditioning. They need to invest in a better air conditioning system for their employee and guests comfort. The food was good and the chef entertaining, but maybe consider this a place only to go in winter. read more
