This used to be my favorite Sushi restaurant i would've given it 5 stars for price and quality but the last 5 or 6 times i have been there the quality, prices and service are not good anymore. My orders are usually to go and I got home one time and my fried crab was still frozen! The last time my wassabe and ginger were missing which completely changes the flavor of the meal. Not to mention the prices have almost tripled--which is true of a lot of places but to have the price increase and the quality of the food and service go down is not a good combination i am going to have to search for a new Sushi restaurant. :( read more

I've been to Sushi Hana about four times. Great place for Sushi. Food has been excellent every visit. Nice environment. Staff is efficient and gets the job done, but I would recommend to management to train their staff to be friendlier and smile. Yes, hard work and quick service is great, but if you don't act caring or smile it really subtracts from the experience. read more

Pretty good sushi here! We ordered the beef asparagus roll, campaign roll and lion roll. All were great. Service was alright, my only complaint here was the stench of what smelled like soap or bathroom cleaner wafting into the dining area. I love this place to hangout with my friends after a hard dance practice. People here typically dress cute casual, attire can range from sweatpants to a cute skirt and blouse. Service is friendly, and I love how they give you Andes candies with your check. The only reason I gave them 3 stars is because my stomach felt strange after I ate my favorite rainbow roll today (5 varieties of raw fish atop your classic rice roll). Know your risk when you eat raw fish. I still definitely recommend this restaurant and one of the few great sushi options in the katy suburbs! read more

I've been going here for over a decade and it's hands down, the best sushi in the Houston area. I would recommend the Katy Roll if you like salmon and avocado. The bento box at lunch is delicious too because it gives you a variety of everything on the menu. The house salad and the salad dressing is great too and a great addition to any meal that you get! The service here is fabulous and the waiters/waitresses know the menu inside and out. They do have a great happy hour too so if you want to save a buck, try the happy hour. Cheers! read more

When you think Katy restaurants, sushi would probably be the last thing one would expect to be good, let alone be there in the first place. Its not just good, I would dare to say that it is one of the best sushi restaurants in greater Houston I have been coming here with my family for the past 3 years almost every weekend. Its like a ritual of sorts. Their lunch specials are the best I have ever seen for the price. The rolls are creative and tasty and they definitely don't skimp out on the fish like other places. The owner Tony knows what he's doing for sure. (Try the Tony roll) I would of given this place a 5 star, but in recent years it has become to busy, full of soccer moms and little kids...which isn't the restaurants fault, but is pretty annoying to me. I visited this restaurant with some friends from out of town last night. We were seated in a timely manner and the waiter was nice. Just to confirm.....the menu of rolls is in fact HUGE! It took us forever and a day to choose.. but.......I still cannot recommend this place at all. First thing....we were only given two sets of silverware, and had to ask multiple times for the other two sets, and this was after the hot food was served. next....me and my husband had the platter with the sushi, sashimi, and the rolls. The rolls were ok, but the sushi and sashimi were cut unbelievably thick! It was like eating fish chunks! I've never had sushi this way and hated it completely. Too bad too, because the white tuna was buttery and could have been great. please...go somewhere else. read more

I love sushi in it's purest form. This is not it. If you like rolls covered with goo, then you might like this place. Their menu has like 50 variations on "roll covered with sauce/goo". We selected 3 of the least goo and non-deep fried rolls, as well as some hamachi and salmon nigiri. Fish was ok quality, rolls were sub-par. They were poorly made (fell apart), and really didn't taste that great. Nothing horrible, just not very good. If you are sushi eater that knows the difference between toro and otoro, you had best avoid this place. If you like deep-fried sushi rolls with creme-cheese covered with goo, you might like this place. My wife and I however, did not. I guess I should of known better as I generally make it a policy to avoid sushi places that also have chinese food on the menu. This one did, and yet we still dined. Lesson re-learned. read more

Who would have ever have thought that a sushi place would go over as big as this place outside of Houston. Just a little place that has a very big following. I expect this place to grow into a bigger place in the very near future. I was very impressed with the menu that seemed to go on and on. There has to be something for every sushi lover at this place. I normally eat at the bar, but be prepared to come early to get a seat they are the first to go. Behind the bar you will find the owner Tony and one or two other chefs assisting him. The place is clean and service comes really fast and friendly. Wait staff know the menu very well and are more then happy to assist the newbie. Ordered a sashimi/sushi combo and a chicken kastudonburi. Since when does a sushi place cut me 2 x 5 inch thick slabs of raw fish? I asked for a knife so I could cut my sashimi into quarters. Quality was ok. Now onto my chix donburi which was ABSOLUTELY HORRIFIC- tasted like my chicken was 1st boiled for other dishes (such as nabeyaki udon or oyakadon), became a leftover and frozen for future use, then a week later I came and ordered the chix donburi, so they took it out of the freezer, nuked it to defrost it, then salted the living SH-T out of it and then fried it and slapped it onto a huge bowl of rice and smothered it with soysauce so I wouldn't taste the difference. I gave this place 1 star because they served my Sapporo beer cold and they do offer lite soysauce for the sodium conscious such as myself. FYI- I tend to stick with chinese restaurants that are run by chinese cooks not with chinese cooks running a japanese kitchen. On a final note, I came here because it was fairly close to home and the previous 5 star reviews. Should have known that what the hell do buckwyes in TX know about sushi. read more

My husband and I love this place! Our favorite is the Sex on the Beach roll, although the roll menu is HUGE and we've had several other very good ones. Their Sashimi is fresh and reasonably priced. However, they try to cater to the new "bigger is better" mentality and cut fish chunks, but it's no problem because once I tell them I want my Sashimi sliced thin they serve it perfectly cut and I don't lose amount in portion. (That's actually happened at other places!) Best of all, because the place is so good, it's always crowded, so while you wait for your table you can go to Spec's next door and sample stuff or even buy beer or wine and bring it over!! It's BYOB! I think there's a cork fee. Only real "con" I can say is that because they are usually so busy and packed for dinner (reason for 4 stars) know what you want when you order, because it might be difficult to get stuff later, unless you don't mind waiting a bit. Even though I only have 2 check-in's here, I have been more times than I can count! This is my absolute favorite sushi restuarant in the Houston area. I will drive the 30 minutes to Katy to eat here. The staff is incredible. The food is top notch!! I remember it when it first opened and there wasn't much of a crowd. But now it doesn't matter what night you go, it's always packed! I have been to this restaurant a few times and it has yet to dissapoint. The food is good and they give you a decent amount. If you're not to hungry two people could split a dish no problem. They have a pretty open floor plan but also a back room if you have a party, or you're like me and have friends that when you get together the sports talk can get intense. But my favorite part is the bartenders and the selection of Japanese beers. The bartenders are really friendly and if you hit it off with them you might get an even better experience. But it is a nice change to the regular spots to eat in Katy area. read more

If I'm ever out in this part of town, I like coming here for sushi. I usually get the sashimi deluxe lunch combo and always forget how much food it is! Their sashimi is fresh and the cuts are big which is great...I feel like I'm getting my money's worth! Plus all lunch specials come with the salad and miso soup. Co-workers have gotten the rolls and said they're delicious. The one that surprised them the most was the spicy one with crawfish. I like that they have a picture menu for the rolls which makes it easier to decide on which ones to get. Nice wait staff, great for lunch. I ate here for the first time a few weeks ago. The food selection was, in my opinion, too much. I prefer menus that don't give you 100+ different items to choose from because it makes your place look classier and it forces a selection of food items that work together and don't overload the chef. Well, the chef here didn't need any help from a smaller menu because the food was excellent. They have some traditional sushi platters (along with some non-sushi American-Chinese fare for those of your friends too wimpy - err, scared - to try new things), regionally named platters (Cinco Roll) and some great Sake. The menu choices just kill it for me. I'd give a higher rating if there were more variation other than rolls (of which take up at least 80% of the menu). They do provide a little check sheet where you can order off-menu food items that are a little more traditional (fish on rice, 2 roll cuts at a time, etc) for lower prices, such as $1.25 for Yellowfin on Rice. Good place, I'll be back, I'm just not in a rush to get back. read more

This is one of my go to sushi spots. We call it Neighborhood Sushi because the staff and patrons are so friendly. It doesn't matter that the drive is 18+ miles. It's completely worth it! The fish is always fresh. The cuts are generous. Edgar and the sushi crew are creative and entertaining! There are plenty of off the menu items (I've tried the appetizers) that are so good and are available in 1/2 size portions which makes for a more satisfying meal event. Ask for the sashimi tower, or sushi nachos or cevichi. And at happy hour, sushi and sashimi are on special. This place is always fun and tasty. read more

This is my favorite sushi place. Bar-none. I've been to a lot of places...some are flashy, some are really good, but nothing measures up to this place (not even Sushi Hana II). It's a sushi joint the way I like it. A little loud, a lot of activity, a small (11 chairs) bar and a fantastic head chef (Edgar). And sit at the bar. It's a lot of fun :-) They've got high quality fish and their cooked stuff isn't too bad, either. Not much to say here. This is my favorite Japanese Restaurant in Katy and surrounding areas! I have probably eaten here 20 times or more in the past 8 years. It has always been great. However I like this location on Mason better than the location off Grand Parkway near Walmart. The bento boxes are great deals and come with a nice variety of food: tempura, rice, meat dish, and either California Rolls or pot stickers depending on whether it's lunch or dinner and includes soup and salad. The lunch bento boxes are cheaper and have a good size portion too! Another favorite of mine is the 3 lunch roll combo for $13.99 or the 2 roll combo for $9.99. I like any of the rolls with shrimp tempura inside and go best with extra eel sauce and spicy mayo so be sure to ask for some. Try the Vitto or Vitta roll for $13.99 if you like shrimp tempura. This is a new favorite of mine at dinner time. The roll is good size and can fill up an averaged size eater. It has soft shell crab and asparagus in it and I forget what else comes inside but it's really good too! So next time you're in the mood for good Japanese food you have to try this place out you won't be disappointed! read more

I don't normally eat sushi as I tend to get queasy and it gets expensive. However, this is nice, clean, and reasonably priced for the good food. The one issue is it can get a bit cramped when sitting at the tables. Me and girlfriend went and got the Hana boat. Yes, I am a sushi snob and, yes, I have visited Japan and eaten sushi there. That being said, this was not a pleasant experience for even the lesser educated among our party (visit several weeks ago). Rolls were improperly made, falling apart on the platter. Sauces were warm and broken. Fish quality was way off point. One of our party said "this is great - it tastes just like HEB sushi" - not the comment that anyone was going for I think. Not a great experience, but the server was sweet and seemed to understand why we felt the way that we did. read more

I've read a lot about Sushi Hana, and having enjoyed Sushi 9 just down the road, I decided to give them a try since I hadn't eaten anything all day. So I park and go inside, and I am immediately greeted, not by a smiling face, but a face no less. The host seats me and walks away with no further conversation or even looking me in the face. Moments later my waiter comes to the table and takes my drink order. He wasn't rude, just not very friendly. He brought me water as I requested, and gave me a few minutes alone to look over the very large menu. So even though there are many rolls, for their everyday lunch special the selection is smaller. After seeing rolls that I thought I would enjoy then realizing that you needed to choose from the lunch rolls, I had to search all over again. A simple instruction after I was seated would have cleared all this up from the beginning, but I was asked zero questions or engaged in any way. I finally selected three lunch rolls, all half rolls, the Tony, Shaggy Dog, and Crazy rolls. Let me say they were the most bland, no flavor sushi rolls I have ever had in my life. Did I mention I was starving? This usually makes food taste better, but there was no saving the blandness of this food. Maybe it was these three rolls specifically and I need to try something different, but it either won't be here or it will be outside of the "lunch special" timeframe. Ugh... On the plus side...it was very cheap which probably explains the poor quality and subpar service. read more

I would say it is an ok place to hang out with friends and family. Excellent customer service. If you are a fan of sashimi then this place is for you. Their sashimi is fresh. Especially the salmon and white tuna, they are juicy and you can taste a bit of fat when you chew them which in my opinion is how sashimi should be. The rolls and the appetizers are ok nothing special. They give out miso soup and salad as free entries. However, they need to take in consider the quantity of their customers. There were two of us and they gave us one miso soup and one salad which is not a big deal. One thing to notice is that they have a huge menu which can be a bit confusing and overwhelming for customers. read more

Great service, fantastic food. The calamari was some of the best I've had in a long time, perfectly crisp and the sauce they put with it is sweet and pairs well. Had a couple 'generic' rolls like a crunchy and a California plus a couple of their specials. I personally didn't like the texture if their crab in the California, but easily overlooked as all the others were great. Not outrageously expensive.. I think with tip it was around $50 for two apps and four rolls (including a premium roll which was huge). Great to find really good sushi in Katy. read more
