Sushi was really good and fresh. It was called the Red Wine roll or something like that. They came recommended by several people so I thought I'd give it a shot. I went during lunch so wasn't too packed. The waitress didn't have much recommendation to offer so I felt rushed to pick from a long list of pictures. It was confusing to have a separate sheet with cheaper items not on the main menu. I had to go with something on the menu so I could see what it looked like. Despite price I went with what looked good. The sushi was good but overpriced at $14.95. A little more than I normally like to pay for lunch. Sushi Hana is simply another local love affair. This location is ussualy pretty packed, but the wait is never too ridiculous. The food is amazing and they're great about bringing it out promptly. The Mount Fujji roll is a savory twist of tangy flavors but it's definetely not overpowering. I could not get enough of it! Just writing about it makes my mouth waterl! Definetely great value for the price and FANTASTIC service. I think the fact that this is a small local spot makes it such a big hit because the close-knit environment makes the restaurant seem more relaxed with waiters that go the extra mile to give that personal touch. They definetely go out of their way to make sure you leave satisfied. The only reason I wouldnt give Sushi Hana 5 stars is because I'm a bit more inclined to drive the extra 10 minutes and go to the new location on Grand Parkway, towards Richmond. I would recommend this location to anyone with kids, a larger group, or anyone looking for a casual spot. I prefer the other location because the availability of booths makes it more private and better for dates or small groups. This place has the best Philly Roll and White Fish Tempura! I have enjoyed coming to this location for years. After the owners death the ambiance definitely went down and the food wasn't as great. I think the workers were going through a grieving process. I then return about 4 months later and the place was almost back to normal. Tony will definitely be missed every time I come here I still feel that in any minute he will be right around the corner asking me if everything is fine. My husband and I keep coming back because they have consistently good sushi at a great price. The rolls are always fresh. Some of our favorites include the mountain roll, shrimp tempura roll, rice paper wrap, and the wonton soup. Best wonton soup I've ever had. Wontons are not hard, tough, or chewy. I actually live in the Galleria area and drive all the way out to Katy just to eat here. I can't for the life of me find a good sushi restaurant in the Galleria/uptown area. They're all decent but I find that the prices aren't worth the quality of the sushi. Anyway, moving onto reviewing sushi hana and not the other sushi places....they're fantastic! I love the extensive selection that they have. I've tried a few different rolls here and there but I always seem to default to their spicy tuna. Yum. I also love that they're incredibly affordable as far as sushi goes. They're always fresh and just really well made. The service is fine. This place was good a while back it's great for vegetarian sushi and Japanese sodas. At the end they would give you a butter mint, which is supposed to be soft, but my mint was so hard it broke my braces. But it's good sushi. Sushi Hana is one of my family's favorite restaurants. A primary consideration for me is whether or not both of my teenage kids (daughter and son) can both find food that they like and this is far from a sure thing Sushi Hana meets this challenge with flying colors for us. There are a couple of Western dishes on the menu and my boy invariably went with chicken nuggets until he "graduated" to chicken teriyaki. The teriyaki went over well because the meat is all white and grilled perfectly - they also bring him a large bucket of ketchup The sushi is always freshly made and I have never had a bad dish in the three years we have been dining here. My wife gets the bento-box with beef and is very happy wtih the quality of cut and how well the "medium rare" cooking exactly meets her preference My girl alternates between chicken fried rice and yakitori don (chicken) and again, is thrilled with the flavor of both dishes. Sushi Hana is in fact her favorite restaurant and she shares so much of my sushi that I hve to get three rolls and she ends up bringing her dish home for leftovers The servce is unfailingly polite and they always are able to meet our special requests (see ketchup above) It is a bit pricy for us with a dinner for four usually tipping the scales at around $80 without drinks and with tip - recall that I do get three rolls and that is a big chunk of the overall tab and I usually tip close to 20% so adjust your spending expecatations accordingly read more

Having read the reviews here, we went with great expectations. However, this place is nothing more than an Americanised sushi joint, serving passable 'Japanese cuisine'. I don't know about before, but the food served is average fare. The sashimi was of average grade and definitely not super-fresh. A full bar? There was only one kind of sake available! The sushi chef was not Japanese for sure. I judge a good ethnic restaurant by the number of ethnic patrons that go there. Maybe what Katy needs is a genuine Japanese outlet that will really set the standards. read more

Finally. How long have I been waiting? 2 years?? Well, thanks to my neighbors sisters 40th Birthday, I got a ride to this place for dinner. I opened the rather large menu and my eyes couldnt focus on all of the choices of rolls. In all honesty, there were prob too many choices, but it was nice for a change to actually have some, rather than the usual 8 or 10 you get at most sushi establishments around my area. So me and the hubby settle on a few rolls as our mouths are watering looking at all these creations being delivered to other tables. It was game on. LOVED everything!! I can not wait to drive the 45 minutes to Katy and go again. The rolls we had were big and priced well. Yes, some had sauces on them etc, if that is what you like, but many did not, so there was something for everyone. Its in a strip mall , like everything else around here, but please dont let that fool you. Give this place a try. I dont mind driving far for this.
