SERVICE 1/5: no "irashaimase" or even a "welcome in." we walked in and was met with blank stares from the waitresses. We walked halfway in and nothing and my husband had to walk directly to a waitress to ask if we seat ourselves. She pointed at the table and grabbed who would be our server. I guess we interrupted her conversation. Our server on the other hand was sweet, however, I had a hard time hearing what she was saying because her voice was so low. We did not have any qualms about our server. She was good. A lot of servers were openly on their phones, specifically the sushi chefs behind the counter. They would stare off into the distance or be on their phones until summoned to make a nigiri. It wasn't necessarily slow, there were quite a few patrons there. When we left there was a young girl at the enterance clearing off a seating chart and not a single person thanked us as we were exiting. Obviously you don't have to be Japanese to run a Japanese restaurant, but at least do the bare minimum of service that is uniquely Japanese. AMBIANCE 2/5: the set up and decorations felt all over the place, nothing was a cohesive design. It's as if they just went to Ross and found anything Asian inspired (not specifically Japanese) and purchased it. FOOD 3/5: it wasn't anything to write home about. I did enjoy the scallop nigiri but it was $6.50 for 2 pc. Presentation of nigiri was wild too, they put 2 nigiri on a 12 in platter lol it's as if they ran out of small plates? The grilled squid was what got our attention to come here and it was ok. It was grilled fine, just the way i like it. I did like that hint of ume or shiso they sprinkled in there but the dish also came at the end, after I've already eaten my entre. It was Iisted as a hot appetizer but came after the entre, so I ate it without any rice. The lava roll was very good and there was an abundance of imitation crab meat on top. The "angry dragon" roll was interesting because they used pink tofu skin, which i thought was unique. Flavorwise, not as spicy as the name insinuates. I did appreciate the water tasted smooth and not like faucet water. COST 2/5: obviously, prices are high everywhere now and on top of that this is a sushi restaurant. We paid $80 something inc tip for miso soup, 3 rolls and 1 grilled squid. I definitely feel it is a little pricey and I'm not willing to pay $40/person when the food is mid and service is subpar. Overall, I'd give this place a 2/5. There were a couple of enjoyable food items, but the lack of basic hospitality, scattered ambiance, awkward timing of dishes, and higher price point made the experience feel underwhelming. For about $40 per person, I expected more than mid-tier food and subpar service. read more

Not a bad sushi spot, but not a great one either. While Savannah isn't known as a sushi haven I did expect a little bit more than I got. The sushi wasn't spoiled, but it wasn't super fresh either. I really called this adequate more than anything. The service staff was nice and friendly enough so that helped. I also did enjoy my coconut martini beverage. The menu is very extensive and offers many choices of sushi, including some extravagant rolls! We had the Seafood soup (nice and hot) with very fresh veggies and seafood. Best sushi in Pooler! I'd give it 4.5 stars if I could give partial stars. Large selection of sushi rolls and tasty selection. The sushi roll menu also includes a lot of raw sushi which you can't take for granted around these parts. They even have a vegetarian section of the menu so parties with vegetarians can easily come enjoy sushi together. WHAT WE ATE Pork Gyoza - my family really loves these dumpling appetizers. They come with a brown savory sauce which made them over-the-top delicious! Mango Avocado Roll - while it didn't have any raw fish, this sounded interesting and it was our favorite of the night! After soaking up a little soy sauce, the sweet mango paired very nicely with the salty soy sauce and the creamy avocado. I would still order some fish-based sushi but this roll is sure to be a regular every time we go back to Sushi Hana! Alaskan Roll - salmon, avocado, cucumber. This gave us a nice compliment to the tuna based sushi which made up most of our order. Spicy Tuna Roll - this is our go-to roll at every sushi restaurant. It's simple but savory and delicious with that little kick of spicy heat. Yummy Roll - spicy tuna and avocado inside, yellow tail, jalapeño and chili sauce on outside. This takes the standard spicy tuna up a notch! The jalapeño is a large cross section slice of a jalapeño. It really adds a nice garden fresh flavor. You can tell by the ingredients but this one is a little on hot side (which I liked). Lava Roll - Main roll is deep fried with spicy tuna and avocado inside. We had thought only the avocado was deep fried. We probably would not had ordered if we had known but glad we did order. It was really good! It's topped with spicy Mayo, wasabi sauce, eel sauce and spicy crab meat. I'm not normally a cooked sushi fan but I would recommend this for sure! Steak Fried Rice - ordered this for my daughter. She likes to sample sushi but not confident enough to make it a meal. I tasted the steak fried rice and honesty wasn't impressed. Steak was a little tough and over cooked, almost a burnt flavor. If you want fried rice then I'd probably go chicken or vegetarian. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our dinner. It was covid era and there was hand sanitizer in multiple locations and chefs all wore gloves. We chose carry out and enjoyed at home but there were many that were inside the restaurant. I think their lunch time special was a bit pricey still $45 even at lunch. The rolls were tasty I didn't enjoy the chicken combo box as much it was not flavorful. My husband and I like to go on dates and try out new spots - Sushi Hana was one place we hit up earlier this year. Upon pulling up, we saw it was crowded, but it didn't deter us from coming in. We had to wait just a few moments to be seated, but I was expecting to have to wait much longer. We grabbed a couple rolls, as we normally do, filled with a variety of tastes. Sometimes spicy, some tuna, avocado, or whatever creative name and tasty menu description that catches our eye. All rolls were good and came out quick. Good, not great. Probably a 3.5 star I was passing through coming back from a business trip and decided to grab some sushi since I didn't want anything really heavy for the remainder of the drive. The atmosphere is really cool and the place is clean. I started with shumai and, though overpriced, it os really good! I began with unsweetened tea and only had one glass before the waitress went to grab a refill. Unfortunately, they dumped the tea and I had to have green tea. They did not have real sugar, which is really unfortunate. I wasn't real fired up at this point, but I was optimistic that my sushi would be good. I had shrimp asparagus and the eel avocado rolls. The shrimp asparagus wasn't the most flavorful but it did taste good and the asparagus was fresh. The eel avocado was really good. If I lived in the area I would eat there again. read more

Overall the food tasted good but the fish texture was a bit firmer than I am used to. The steak however was excellent and cooked to perfection. The service was a bit disappointing and not very friendly. We observed our server assist 3 other tables that arrived after us and one of the tables quite a while after us. We were on the verge of getting up and leaving after checking my phone and we had been waiting just over 15 min just to place and order. What was odd is there were many empty tables and booths so not very busy. I was shocked to be honest and last we dined there the food was much better and fish seemed of higher quality. The service was far superior previously as well. I think it will be some time before I would return and hopefully draw a better service in the future. It may take some convincing though to talk the crew into returning as all were overall disappointed. I was a bit embarrassed myself because I was speaking so highly of it. After doing some shopping with my mother-in-law in Pooler, we popped in Sushi Hana for a quick and light lunch and that's just what we found! - Parking - Center lot. Same center as World of Beer. - Vibe - There's a lot going on in there in terms of decor. On the left is a bar with pink lighting at the base, but then there are TVs. On the right, there is a white accent wall with a circle design cut out with lights. Another wall has a row of bamboo trees to create a separation wall for a different section. Pretty casual though and bustling at the time we walked in at lunch. Always a good sign when it's busy. You have to wait to be seated, regardless if you're sitting at the table or at the bar, FYI. - TLC - Our waitress was pretty efficient and that's just what we needed because we were on a time crunch. She took our orders, brought out all our courses out in a timely manner and when it came time for the bill too. - Eats/Refreshments - I opted for their Lunch Box special with Beef Teriyaki. It comes with a Miso Soup and a house salad (I chose ginger dressing) that both come out separately before the box. In the box, the Beef Teri comes with a Spring Roll with a white-ish type sauce. I think most "Japanese/Sushi" places call it Yum-Yum sauce LOL. It's not my jam at all, but to each their own. It also comes with 4 pieces of California roll, a scoop of rice, a small compartment of sweet chili sauce (this sauce was much better with the spring roll) and an almond cookie. I thought everything was great, but I found the Teriyaki sauce to be pretty bland. It's not a deal breaker though because the beef was cooked nicely and medium rare like I requested, so I still enjoyed it. All of this was $11.95 so I thought it was a pretty good deal! I didn't get any drinks, but it looked like they had a pretty extensive drink menu (see pics). - Kiddos - No kiddos on this visit, so didn't ask if they had a Kids specific menu, but my kids would eat all of this! - Bonus - They offer a military discount with presentation of valid ID, which is much appreciated! Thanks for the love of our military, Sushi Hana! The Lunch Box is always a great way to taste test a place without breaking the bank, because we all know, we can't get good quality sushi for cheap and if it is cheap, beware! I would like to try some of their more complex sushi rolls on my next visit! read more
