My sister, son and I, came to Savannah to enjoy the river walk and the Christmas Market. After everything had closed we were hungry and wanted a decent dinner. We looked around and happened to stumble on the street this restaurant is located. We looked it up on Yelp (of course) real quick and saw it looked decent. It was about an hour before closing on a Monday night. We were seated right away. I looked over the menu and when our server came we asked if we could modify our order and she said of course, everything was made to order so modification were not an issue. This was great since my son wanted chicken fried rice with no veggies, just chicken and egg. They happily made this for him. I like sushi, sort of. I really don't care for most fish, so I like what I call fake sushi. The sweet potato tempura roll was perfect for me. My sister pointed out the Jack roll and it was again, perfect no modifications needed. I orders were done in less than 15 minutes. Everything tasted fresh. It was some of the best rolls I've had in a long time. The food was great and the service was great. I had no complaints and would love to visit again. read more

On a recent trip to Savannah we were near the river walk and it was kind of late, almost 10pm on a Friday. We were looking for dinner for myself, my sister and my 13 year old nephew. We wanted something nice, quiet and something for everyone (the kid doesn't eat raw fish) We decided to try Sushi Hana. We were lucky to find parking very close by. When we got there, we were immediately greeted at seated. Our server took our drink orders and gave us a few minutes to look over the menu. She came back and we asked if we could modify a dish for my nephew which they were great about! I ordered a couple sushi rolls. The sushi was great! Some of their sushi rolls are massive. I'm not a big sushi person myself so I opted for the bento box. Includes soup and salad, rice, California roll, 2 pork gyoza, and choice of 2 items (chicken, beef, tofu teriyaki, beef negamaki, and others). Opted for double beef negamaki and it was too much food. Sushi Hana was a really solid sushi spot! We got lucky and got their booth in the window. I love people watching! I got a lychee cold sake which was sweet and refreshing. We shared the taco wontons, which were great. They put seaweed as a topping which I haven't seen other places do but it worked well. Then we also shared the Rose roll which had spicy tuna, spicy salmon, spicy yellowtail, avocado, and mango wrapped in soy paper. The outside of the roll was pink - super cute! We ordered the Alaska roll, California rolls, pork Gyoza and the seafood Yaki udon. I had never see such a tiny sushi roll in my life as if they were made by tiny little kids' hands! Service. - We visited this restaurant with a group of 5 adults and checked in properly with the hostess. After us, another party of 5 arrived with younger kids. Instead of following the order of arrival, the hostess started looking for a table for the family who came after us and completely ignored us, even when I politely reminded her that we had been waiting longer. The other family themselves pointed out that we were there first, yet she still seated them before us. The behavior felt extremely rude, dismissive, and unprofessional. We were going to stop at a different Sushi place but this one was closest to our Hotel. Located not too far from River Street, this place is easy walking distance with paid public parking not far away. It's one large open room with a long bar & plenty of tables. They were busy but we got seated right away (they also don't take reservations). Our waitress was prompt. We ordered drinks (house hot sake for me) and edamame for the table. My sake was good and the edamame was perfectly done. I ate my girlfriend's ginger salad (I just laughed typing that), and it was very good! Their miso soup was also delicious ... and I always know a good sushi place based off their miso. Heads up, put more seaweed in your miso please! For my dinner, I ordered the yellowtail jalapeño hand roll & Yummy Roll. The hand roll was fresh and had lots of jalapeño strips ... it just lacked cucumber & avocado. I also like when places mix the sashimi sushi with spicy Mayo & ponzu, then drizzle that on top. Just a suggestion for the Sushi Chefs. The Yummy Roll was amazing! Certainly a great pick. We got the Black Angel Roll which had a delicious pepper tuna on it and then our server gave outstanding recommendations as well, so we tried their Philadelphia Roll for a more basic roll and a Sashimi Tuna. We also got the teriyaki chicken, which was good but not on the same level as the sushi. I like the food here. It's not 100% authentic Japanese but still tastes good. All of their rolls are adventurous and amazing. Our waiter is sweet and helpful to my friend, who doesn't know much about sushi or Japanese cuisine. The restaurant is small but cozy. I would suggest changing the name of the tofu to something else. It says "Aged Tofu" and I thought it is tofuyo (fermented tofu). I would just say fried tofu to avoid confusion. read more

Sushi Hana did not disappoint. The service and sushi were excellent. The restaurant from the outside when walking on Broughton Street may look a little boring. But do not judge a book by its cover as people say. The interior of the restaurant is spacious. It has multiple banquets, a few tables, and a small bar. I love the fact that they did not try to smush a ton of tables into the space as some restaurants do. I felt like I could breathe easily in the restaurant because we were not seated right next to someone elbow to elbow. Our server was excellent. He answered any and all of our questions. But did so with panache. He was attentive. He went behind the bar himself and grabbed our bottle of sake and put it on ice for us so we would not have to wait. I greatly appreciated that. The menu has of course as you would expect a lot of sushi. But there are other items too for folks who are not sushi fans. They do have teriyaki and tempura. There are also many appetizer options. The menu has something on it for everyone if you enjoy Asian cuisine. Now I will say the menu does have a lot of spicy items on it in the sushi and raw sections. This was not an issue for me. I love spicy! But not everyone does. I got the Caribbean roll, Alaskan roll, and one of the nightly special rolls. They were all delicious! And beautifully presented, the sushi chefs did a fantastic job. We ordered a bottle of the lychee sake. Our server told us it was sweet. I generally am not a fan of sweet. But I like lychee so I thought I'd give it a try. Thankfully my bestie really liked it. My taste buds were not a fan. If you like sweet and lychee order the lychee sake it's for you. Came here on reccomendation of local who lives here and has eaten here a few times. Not much to look at inside. Very no frills cafeteria look to the dining area but clean. Very good sushi & extensive menu choices of other Japanese food. Best miso soup I have ever had..both flavorful and content of it. Edamame was good portion. Bento box has ridiculous amount of food I could not finish. with 2 protein choices it's sooo much food. They are so busy, could use more help busing tables so your empty plates get cleared before next round of food arrives, but that's an industry problem with covid. Would I come back? Maybe. Savannah is not lacking in choices for food. Would take trying a bunch of other places first before I return here. But as I said, everything was good. read more

I asked for a side of yum yum sauce (in the picture with my sushi). It was not good and too sweet. Service was ok but the server seemed offended that I asked for a new salad and I tried to ask for one without dressing already on it but he rushed off. Some of the best sushi in the state of Georgia! It was a pleasant surprise for us to find this authentic Japanese place in the middle of Savannah's downtown. We tried a few items and all them were so-so tasty. Miso soup, Mushroom soup, Edamame, Pepper Tuna tataki, Black Angel roll, Sashimi wrap, Spicy Tuna roll with avocado, cucumber and tobiko, but the most delicious roll out of all was the Amazing Tuna roll. It was so good, after we received our food items and tasted them all, we had to order more of Amazing Tuna roll as we couldn't get enough. Service by Jaycen was outstanding. The yin and yang of quality food with hipster service. The more reviews you write the more you realize that it's not just the food but the entire experience. The food at this place is worthy of at least 4 stars my wife and I eat a lot of sushi and theirs was good. You could see the focus and dedication emulating from the kitchen staff, they stayed busy, they were clean and what they sent out was good quality, fresh, true to menu and tasty. The ambience is what you would expect from a sushi restaurant. Let's talk about where this experience went from a 4 or 5 star review down to a 2. I can tell you from running food operations for over a decade as an executive chef that your host/ hostess plays a pivotal role in the guest experience. They are the first thing your guests see; we as humans form opinions quickly and it sets the expectation. The hostess here, a younger (college age) woman was, horrendous. Not because she was rude, but because she did absolutely nothing. We were sat directly facing her. I watched her sit on instagram the entire time we were there. It was brazen, when people came in to pick up to go orders or for delivery she didn't make eye contact or put her phone down, she would just spit out her rehearsed script of "yeah, just go over to the bar" (which had a line by the time we left) when customers came in or left it was much the same. It seemed an inconvenience to sit people because it was the one thing she had to put her phone down for. Turns out hipsters like other hipsters, our waiter was clearly fascinated with the hostess, which deterred him from his job. Our food sat up in the window until he was done pitching woo. Again they were literally right in front of us doing this with absolutely no shame. He made a fairly offensive comment to us when he brought the check, something along the lines of I can't believe you ate all of that. I'm a 250 pound beast. I can eat baby! The look on my wife's face quickly extinguished the rage I felt crawling into my right hand , I stayed seated and smiled at him. I hesitantly tipped him and left only to be harassed by a bum sitting outside the restaurant...... Oy vey, if you go this place do yourself a favor and sit at the sushi counter to avoid the hipster circus. Their sushi is excellent! read more

We went for lunch after walking around town for a bit and managed to get there in time for the lunch specials which were pretty reasonably priced and we thought so even more once we got our food. It. Was. DELICIOUS. We paid $36 for two people (not including gratuity) for two miso soups, two salads, two sushi rolls, teriyaki chicken, veggie tempura, 4 pieces of Cali roll, spring roll and veggies! It filled us up, didn't kill our wallet, and was VERY tasty. The sushi was soooo fresh. The spring roll was stellar. Likely the best spring roll I've ever had ever. The service was friendly and efficient! Our waitress was just attentive enough to keep us refilled on waters and get us in and out the door without making us feel rushed in the slightest. The ambiance is pretty minimalist - which honestly just gave room for the food to shine. I wasn't sure what to expect walking into this room by appearance alone. But I'm glad we went! Highly recommend the maki roll lunch special (until 3pm!) after a morning of strolling around! This was the first time being here in person. They were pretty empty for a Thursday at 6pm. If you wait much later, they fill up quickly. You might need to send someone early to put your name in. We ordered: Japanese Mule - I usually order Moscow mules when I go out for cocktails. I did not taste the lychee at first. You have to use the straws to drink from the bottom to taste it. It was not what I envisioned. Vegetable Roll - Always a classic. I love this roll for the pickled veggies and range of textures. Definitely a good option for vegetarians and others alike. Rising Sun (special roll menu) - Nice and spicy with jalapeño slices on top Spicy Scallop roll - I liked this one. This was the first time I've had scallops on sushi. The texture is very softand creamy. Would definitely get again. We were a call ahead 22 too party (insane I know) and they kindly accommodated us. The food was delicious and most of the group got multiple rounds of sushi. I had the tofu teriyaki, which was good. My only complaint is that the tofu wasn't firm, so it needed more crunch to offset the gooey inside. The miso soup was delicious that accompanied it! I personally would pass again on the cocktails. I have to say that is one of my favorite dressings for salad, the ginger dressing. Next we had the shrimp gyoza and it was delicious!
