I went here for dinner with two friends after going to Board & Brush. It was around 9 pm on a Friday, so there were only a few other patrons there. The servers were attentive and efficient! I ordered the crab Rangoon as an appetizer, and the crunch shrimp roll for my meal. The total for all 3 of us to eat was only $50! Very affordable. We each ordered an alcoholic beverage too. We came here based off a recommendation. My husband's buddy said "sit at the sushi bar and ask for Ricky; let him work his magic." And so we did just that. We ended up with a mix of variety, from spicy to not, to all sorts of fish. Honestly, I couldn't tell you what we ate, just that it was all tasty. There were some other folks there enjoying their evening and seemed to know of Ricky's skill set as well. I didn't know this place existed - I have definitely driven past here numerous times. I'm not a food snob by any means. I would always grab an app here and there after work when our martial arts school was still next door. Sometimes there was inconsistency in what I ordered from week to week, I assume it depended on who the chef was that day. If I got the crab rangoon it was always the same. Sometimes I'd ask for no zucchini in the tempura vegetables and got zucchini anyways. Once I ordered egg rolls and instead of the standard large pork egg roll we got these tiny ones- not the harumaki but something else. The harumaki is good. Their fried rice is much better than fried rices I've had elsewhere. The waitstaff is generally nice, one of the guys got to know me by name and the sushi guy always says hello. read more

Hubby and I ate here for the first time in a long time and they've greatly gone downhill. The menu has considerably fewer options, sushi was mediocre and the hibachi steak and scallops came to the table just moderately warm. The final straw was biting into a scallop only to discover that they're using those fake surimi "scallops" but still charging real scallop prices. I feel certain this is our last time eating here, which is a shame because they used to be outstanding. read more

This place used to be wonderful for years. I ate there today 1/28/23 and it was awful. The fried rice was like petrified rice. The salmon was the size of a quarter and tasted like fish jerky. The first time we went, the service was phenomenal and the food was good. The second time, our waitress was absolutely terrible. When we ordered, we were told there were no salads. So, please tell me why someone who came in 5 minutes after we ordered was able to get a salad. The waitress never checked in with us. When she dropped off our meals, she wasn't even at the table long enough for us to ask for napkins. Never topped off our drinks. The same table who was able to get the salad when we weren't also got to leave 10-15 minutes before us because our waitress never picked up our payment. Other than the one waitress, the food is good and decent portion sizes for the price. The other waiter here is very kind and helpful. Price change effective as of Sept 1, BUT they will fail to mention this when ordering from an app like grub hub or their website they still have their old prices (it's their responsibility to update those prices not mine or grubhub) so what i thought was $9.95 or $14.95 turned out to be $21.95. A major price increase with out any warning. They claimed they were going to call me but never did to let me know the increase. I go in and speak to whom I thought was the manager who was not kind and refused to even consider discussing this situation with me. he claimed he would've called me if i had ordered it on GrubHub, yet he wouldn't have been able to see my number as the driver would only have access to that. i know this because i have several friends who are uber eats, door dash, and grub hub drivers and they keep that information private and have the driver contact you not the restaurant when ordering directly through their apps. you'd think a small amount of money like that wouldn't have been a big deal, but the fact they wouldn't even talk with me about it or say next time it'll be a different price we are sorry for the confusion. since clearly the confusion is on their end since their prices are different across their website, app, and in person. we were considering having them cater a work event for 60+ people, but now will be looking elsewhere. so disappointed in the customer service here. it was down right rude and petty. never meant to have this happen, just wanted a quick meal for my lunch break. read more

Was looking for a sushi spot...I was kind of skeptical about this spot at first. From outside it looked like the restaurant was for to go orders only. Dine in was available and it was delicious! Had three choices of sushi: spider roll, melody roll and the dynamite roll. Dynamite roll was a bit much, but it was good. Like to try a spider roll where we can and this was worth trying again. This is our new favorite sushi restaurant in Savannah. Not necessarily the best I've ever had, but, it's pretty darn good. On our first visit we were so impressed that we've been back 3 times in barely a week. The servers were very friendly and our food was brought out with perfect timing as we finished each previous appetizer or dish. I usually don't even order miso but I had a sip of my husbands and it was so flavorful I ordered it on our next visit. My husband loves the amaebi complete with the fried, crispy heads. The ginger dressing is so good that when I got a side salad to go one afternoon (and when no one was looking), I shamefully tipped my container and drank the leftover dressing. Other great dishes are the lobster batayaki, shrimp shumai and OMG the tempura calamari is friggin' HUGE and perfectly crisp, tender and delicious. Biggest and best I have ever had... We have eaten here before many times but today will be our last time. First of the service was not that great. Our server was not attentive and only checked in on us when it was time for the check. Second, the price...I dont remember paying $18 for a bowl of pho. There was barely any noodles, meat, and broth. I get it, inflation but this price hike is ridiculous. Pho at other places is much cheaper. I don't know what happen to this place. I dont recommend to anyone. You will be charged for small a lot portions. read more

Pros: By far the most authentic japanese restaurant in savannah. By far the best sashimi, superior selections of cuts, and even has sea urchin. It made me really happy to be able to find a place like this down south. Cons: not a ramen place, only has one broth :( Also if your looking for a full hibachi experience, look elsewhere. Came to this restaurant on a double date with some friends. I'm an avid yelp user and was a little unconvinced by the reviews. My friend swears by the sushi here and she was right! The sushi was fresh, the variety in the amount of rolls they offer was exceptional. The waiter didn't take long to serve us. Prices are perfect---no overpriced sushi for me! The atmosphere is meh. The ginger salad was more like a ginger soup with leaves of lettuce swimming in dressing. The sushi is some of the most expensive in town but nothing to write home about. HOWEVER... she did take it upon herself to FIND my phone number to text me about this situation nearly two months after the fact. I sincerely hope the owners do not endorse this behavior from employees, because I will never come back and never tell anyone to go here again if this type of behavior is condoned by management... The food was 4/10 and the customer service was -100000000/10. My meal had me in the bathroom within an hour after consuming sick. Same for my poor coworker. Would never go here again just because of the horrible response and interaction with staff. The man I assumed was the manager spoke to me in such a degrading manner. I was simply confused about a miscommunication in their prices across all platforms. It seems I'm not the only one who has experienced and complained about this based on the reviews. It is not that the price went up, but more that they insist they would've told you about it since apparently any delivery app and THEIR website are incorrect and tell you two different prices. I was happy to pay the more expensive price, but after how I was spoken to and made to feel like the idiot when they clearly need to update their prices everywhere to be consistent with what they decide to tell you in person, I will not be coming back. The portions are small. The prices on the menu are different than what they charge. I've been here many times over the years because of the location (close to work), but I don't think I'll go back.
