Cute, little strip mall sushi joint. Conveyer belt and order custom too. Very clean and efficient. Price is right at about $3.50 a plate, and they offer really good salmon roe and other premium items. I love their tempura, very crisp and not over fried. I would say, for more expensive items, always order from the staff fresh, as they do have some fried items on the belt, avoid...they are totally okay with getting you a new one. One of my favorite sushi places after Sushiland closed. But it is disturbing that they do not clean the kitchen area and it grosses me out. Why can they just keep it clean? "It satisfies a craving but its not great" That was something i heard from someone when i asked them what their opinion on this place was and it mirrored my sentiment exactly. I was craving sushi one day and saw "sushi hana" on the outside so i figured they must sell sushi so i walked in by myself, and as much as i left with my cravings satisified, this wouldn't be my first choice if i wanted a top tier, quality rich sushi experience. Regardless i did love the conveyor belt experience and it helps that they make the sushi directly in front of you from within the rotating belt so anything you're craving if theres no more of it flirting with your palette as it rotates, you can always let them know what'd you like. Thats at least what i saw the guy next to me do. I just waited patiently for the next go around of the pieces i had my eye on but didn't pull the trigger on, or whatever became available really. read more

My wife and I have been coming to Sushi Hana nearly every week for almost 5 years. The food is excellent, and nearly every employee has been wonderful. The reason for this review is one employee: Raul. My wife has a serious crab allergy. For years, Sushi Hana has accommodated her by substituting shrimp for crab in the Vegas Roll. However, whenever Raul is working, he refuses to make this substitution and does so with a rude and condescending attitude. This is not a matter of preference--it's a health and safety issue. A restaurant should never make customers feel like an inconvenience because of a food allergy. It's disappointing that one employee's behavior has overshadowed years of otherwise great experiences. read more

They have all day one plate menu prices, no watching for colored plates and seperate amounts which I LOVE! The sushi is fresh they cook and prepare right in front of you. They have some unique items of sushi, sashimi, and noodle dishes. 5 of us were easily seated around noon on a Monday with no wait time. The conveyour is frequently stocked with everything from just made sushi plates to dessert and fresh fruit. The decor is a little dated, but with prices these days who can afford to renovate right? ;) We will be back great lunch and early dinner option in EastCouve. read more

Sushi Hana is a pretty straightforward sushi-go-round with standard $3.50 plated fare. There seems to be a good selection of nigiri and maki making its way around the conveyor belt, but the menu offers other items as well. The wait staff were friendly, and the sushi chefs were quick to prepare special orders. The food was fresh, the portions were appropriate, and I felt I received good value for my money... but the sushi lacked originality and wow factor. There's not much to write home about here! However, as simple as it is, the miso soup I ordered was one of the best misos I've ever had! Go figure! The restaurant is clean, visitors will find seating areas to wait during busy days, and there is plenty of parking in front of the business. My expectations are low for conveyor belt sushi, but this one is better than most. I was pleasantly surprised that potato croquets were one of the choices: yum. This was by far the worst sushi place I've ever been to. Given the price my partner and I were not expecting the best sushi, but definitely wanted something better than Safeway sushi. It was terrible. For starters, most of what they show on the online menu wasn't available. Almost every single roll was some variation of crab meat (gross). I tried a Philadelphia roll (one of the only non-crab rolls), and it tasted like really shitty LOX. Then I tried a salmon roll with jalapeños and it just tasted....bad. Like the actual fish just didn't taste good at all. The final straw was the egg rolls were cold and soggy, a clue to how long they had been sitting on the conveyor belt. My partner and I decided to call it quits and went to Sushi Ninja instead. What was wild is the conveyor belt was FULL, they were stacking plates 2 high, and yet still making more sushi. I've been to conveyor belt sushi before and have never seen SO MUCH food being made (and I can only assume wasted). I also didn't see any kind of system for indicating when to take stuff off the belt. Who knows how long that food sits out. It's no wonder those egg rolls were soggy. read more

Well it's been before Covid when I was here. I have been going here for sushi for 20 years. I see new owners taking over all the time. You can always tell by the new sushi rice machine. Lol The place was semi crowded for a Wednesday evening around 6pm. I tried their sushi and there was really no taste to it. The portions are super small too. The wasabi is not hot at all and their green tea tastes like water. I ordered a spicy tuna hand roll and there was not spicy sauce on it. It's costs $6.00. The prices are pretty high too. All the sushi plates there costs $2.95 each for just 3 bites of sushi. Plus, the sushi looked and tasted stale. At least the spider roll I got was kind of yucky. I mean the crab was kind of spongy. I had to put two large tablespoons of wasabi in my small soy sauce dish and still it was not spicy hot at all. With my little sister, we were planning to have a little lunch date. We ordered a couple of plates of sushi which it all tasted fine. We were halfway through our meal when I realized before picking up a piece of sushi there was a fish bone on my plate sticking out of my sushi, I got the chiefs attentions to to let him know that I found a bone in my food. He looked at me and rolled his eyes. I was a little put out so I asked to speak with a manager. He then rolled his eyes again, He brought over one of the waitresses, I asked her to speak to a manager, she then said that there is no manager available at that time. I asked for the phone number of the manager, and she said that there is no way to contact management. I was on my way to another employee, before I can speak to them she then hurried over to that employee and whispered in her ear. I proceeded to ask the second employee for the manager's phone number, she looked scared, looking around, not knowing what to do or say. She kept apologizing, while the first waitress is peaking at us behind the kitchen wall. The second waitress proceeds to go to the kitchen for a couple of minutes, then comes back with a phone in her hand. She was claiming it was the manager, so I picked it up. I was speaking to what sounded like an older man. They were extremely rude and kept claiming that I was just trying not to pay for my $20 ticket. My Sister and I were planning to tip generously as we usually do due to us being in the service industry ourselves. Needless to say my Sister and I were very displeased and will not be back. Stopped in with the fam after the river and had a really good time with these guys. Sushi was all super fresh. Hot stuff wasn't just hot, it was lava hot. I had some stuffed baked mushrooms and I had to wait probably 15 minutes before I could get them down lol. The calamari was also nice and hot. Both tasted great too. Right away I asked for some nigiri hand made from the chefs and they were done in literally less than a minute. Mackerel and yellow fin were delicious. Albacore wasn't my favorite but still good. The rolls were typical for a conveyor belt sushi place and they were all nice and fresh with new stuff hitting the belt very quickly the whole time we were there. Beer was large and ice cold and the service was service. I had to flag people down when I needed stuff and they came right over. I'd have given the place five stars if the decor was better and the sushi was a little more high end, but that's not what the vibe of this place is all about. It's cheap and good. You'd pay almost twice the price for the same stuff at other sushi restaurants. And realistically it's rice and a probably 1/30th of a lb of fish. You don't have to charge a fortune for this to make profit. One of my biggest gripes about sushi is usually the price, which is usually justified with an edible flower on the plate, or some other cheap garnish. When in reality, all or most of the places are using the same frozen, canned, or from a bucket ingredients, this place just puts a more realistic price tag on it. Four of us ate till we were stuffed, the three sodas, one large beer, and one small beer, for 97$. 20$ tip and 10$ to the sushi chefs. Totally worth it for 25$ a person. Good food, good service, good price, all together equals I'll be coming back. read more

My favorite sushi place in Vancouver. Been going here for 2 decades. Since I was a kid with my family, I'm now 34. I remember when they had $1 plates, $1.50 plates + now every plate is $2.95, not complaining. But if you have a family of 4 - 6, plan on paying $100+ ....Between the two of us, our bill is usually $40 - $50. Staff is quick, fast, and friendly. I will be a forever customer. The only suggestion I have for them, is to remodel their bathrooms. The bathrooms smell good, but it's dingy and in need of an upgrade. They make a ton of $$$$ charging $2.95 per plate now, so hopefully they renovate the bathrooms soon. Other than that, love this place read more

However I have ordered to-go a couple times and have been so dissappointed over and over. This last one I felt i got sushi that was old sitting around so they just put it in the togo box. My vegas roll didnt have any avocado which i know its supposed to. The breading was mushy and gross and there was WAY too much cream cheese. I spent over $20 and I dont think I will get to go again. Sushi Hana's sushi (all the different types we tried) was pretty good! I was a little disappointed with the Chicken Katsu, which was really dry and the full order of Shrimp Tempura (which includes the vegetable tempura) because the staff that took my order got it wrong! When I ordered the tempura I was specific that I wanted the full order with the vegetables. When the order finally came out, there were 4 shrimp tempura, no vegetables, no sauce. When I finally caught the waitress's attention, I explained to her that I wanted the full including the vegetables, she stated that I didn't tell her that. Needless to say, she took the shrimp to the back kitchen and began shouting at the cooks in the back. It took a long while before the tempura made it back to our table with 2 shrimp tempura and the vegetables tempura BUT no sauce. I had to ask for the sauce again and by the time it came out all the tempura was lukewarm and not steaming hot like when it originally came out! I was a bit disappointed in the service because the wait help was not very courteous or gracious in their demeanor. I mean they gave you what you ordered but in such a stiff, staunch manner, with zero emotion, not even a smile. The Sushi Chef's were pretty awesome, whatever you ordered directly from them was prepared immediately and passed on to you right away! That was awesome! Every roll looks absolutely gorgeous, they offer fruit and seaweed salad, and they even have a super crispy yet light shrimp tempura (it was even good at room temperature ! super airy breading and not greasy at all ) I got 6 plates worth of food for a little more than $20. i ordered to-go so i can't say much about the ambiance.. but from what i gathered, it would be a very nice spot to eat at with a friend. the people who work here must love what they do, the food feels like it was made with caring hands. Well for sure they need to update their website. It says the Vancouver location is $1.00 a plate which seemed to good to be true. So I checked on menu on their website and they had things ranging from 1-2.50. Okay cool. When we get there - all plates are $2.95. Okay cool, whatever. Inflation. but at least have your website up to date. The sushi was mediocre and I didn't see them having any sort of system to know how long something had been on the belt, so there is no way of knowing when to take it off because it has been at room temp for over 5 hours. Sushi Factory marks their lids with colored dots so they know. We just waited for the fresh stuff. We couldn't order any fresh because they were so busy and the chefs never even looked our way, but that's okay. We just watched and grabbed what they were putting down fresh. Ordered take out here the other day during COVID-19 because our usual place is closed during this time. I have to say... this place sucks and it has always sucked since it was renamed from Sushi World. The lady on the phone was very short and when we arrived in person she was extremely rude. The sushi is pale and bland in taste and the quality is just not there. The Vegas roll was even dry and didn't have any sauce to go with it like most places do. It's hard to give anything better than a 1 Star when the food and service is just not there. Not all Sushi Hana locations are this awful; the Beaverton one by Washington Square is quite nice. Such a shame that the one in Vancouver is such an awful pace. To go or in person, the experience is just painful. Would not recommend. read more
