The sushi might be good but the owner really needs psychological help! He referred to a female customer as a B*tch. He proceeded to follow her out of the restaurant yelling profanities at her as she walked to her car. His threatening posture caused such a scene that a passerby stepped in to assist her. The owner really needs help - his behavior is unstable and dangerous. Praying he gets the help he so desperately needs. read more

Three star for service only, sushi what they had was warm and not fresh at all. 6 people in our group place was completely empty. Drive past all the time and it looks closed majority of the time. Service was standard. Would love to see the game stepped up with quality of fish will gladly pay the price for quality of food if it was worth it. I know with Covid that cost of almost everything has increased and it isn't easy to stay staffed so paying for quality is definitely ok. Until then will continue driving into Vancouver for Mio Sushi or even Portland (even though I am not a fan of going into Portland) for better quality. After living in Camas proper for the last year or so I finally had the opportunity to order ahead some take out from the sushi joint. I must say I'm quite picky when it comes to sushi and I was happy that Sushi Joint did not disappoint and it saved me a substantial drive into the city where most of my go to spots. We ordered a good amount of food. The nigiri tasted fresh, the rolls were delicious, and the edamame was a nice addition too. None of it tasted fishy or caused us to doubt the freshness of the dishes being served. The pick up process during COVID was pretty seamless. I called ahead and was told 30 min. No problem. I drove down the hill, parked on the street, walked up to the side of the building (follow the instructions on the sign) and I was greeted by a nice gal who took payment and provided the food to me. I think if you're in Camas, and do not want to drive an hour round trip to pick up sushi this place needs to be on your go to list. I hope you enjoy the food as much as I did! read more

The chili ponzu roll was fantastic as was the Washougal roll. The seaweed and cucumber salads were also balanced, fresh and so tasty. The only knock is perhaps it's popularity. I'm originally from San Diego so I consider myself a sushi snob. This place is incredible never disappoints.

We have nothing but good things to say about The Sushi Joint. We are new to the area and have only been able to order food from here twice, but both times the quality of the food has exceeded our expectations. The sushi is very, very fresh and full of taste. Enough taste that they don't need to add a lot of extra sauces to enhance the flavor of the rolls, as many places we have eaten at have done. We usually have found that once we have gone through a good portion of a sushi restaurant's menu, we have definite favorites. This has not been the case here, as everything we have had tastes great. Even though we have only been able to get take out, the service has been excellent. This last time was my wife's birthday. She had been thinking about this sushi all week. Because of a situation at home, we generally have to eat nice dinners after 7:30. By the time we called, they were not taking any more orders (another indication of how good and popular they are). But once they heard it was her birthday, they took the order anyway. How cool is that?! Once I arrived to pick it up, the gentleman bringing the food out was super courteous, as he had been the first time. He even wished my wife a Happy Birthday. We can't wait until they are open for inside dining again, but will continue to use the take out service until then. We highly recommend The Sushi Joint! read more

We were so happy to finally get to have sushi again after not being able to go into a restaurant like this in months. We were happy to see the staff using gloves and wearing masks they were very courteous nothing of course was on the conveyor belts. So everything we ordered was made on rolls so that actually was nice because then there's something you really love you didn't have to look for it you just asked for it so that was kind of cool. We also have the Miso soup which was really good. How have I missed this location for a year and a half?! Fantastic, simple and tasty sushi in downtown Camas. I've died and gone to heaven. The stuffed avocado appetizer is very good. Great for 3-4 people. If it's just the 2 of you, definitely downsize by at least one sushi roll or you will be stuffed. I haven't tried every roll but all the ones we've had were yummy; I don't think you can make a bad choice with the rolls. They even created a roll based on something we liked from elsewhere and did a great job. Miso soup and hot sake were also tasty. The server (owner?) is also friendly to boot. Everything is always fresh, presented beautifully, and the service is always friendly and quick. Well, as quick as sushi can be when everything is made fresh to order. The stuffed avocado is something I have never found anywhere else. It's a perfectly ripe avocado stuffed with crab and guests come to town asking to go there just for that.
