The server here was BEYOND amazing and she was running the entire front of the house, taking phone orders, and serving dine in customers all by herself. Her energy level and friendliness was consistent throughout the 2.5 hours I dined with a friend, and it wasn't that long because we were waiting on food, we just chatted a while after finishing our meal. Our sever recommended a deep friend lobster roll, yep, I was immediately in. I also ordered a few sushi pieces and a seaweed salad. Everything came out fairly quickly, the lobster roll was so cute how it was presented. I enjoyed it, mostly, I didn't read that there was asparagus, I'm a fan of asparagus in sushi. The richness got to me a bit too, but I still liked the flavors and I really enjoyed the rest of my order. I can't say enough about the server and chefs here. They're were knocking out the to go and dine in orders out like that were a team of 10, not 3. The spicy salmon roll wasn't very spicy but the salmon looked so fresh, and it was still delicious. I had an avocado salad as an appetizer, and because it was such a great price, I expected a tiny salad. That surely wasn't the case! Love coming to this Sushi house as it's near my work and the staff are wonderful. Sometimes my coworkers and I will dine-in or do take out. Recently, we've been dining in it's been every single time. They always give us a little complimentary cucumber salad on the house. I've got several sushi rolls from this restaurant and I always mix it up. I've had the Shrimp Tempura, Panda Roll, Pikachu Roll (Board Special), Dragon Roll, Lemon Tuna, and Phoenix Rolls. They all tasted great of course! They always do a great job a preparing the sushi rolls so I would definitely recommend this place if you're around or craving for some good sushi. I would say that place small (normal for sushi houses) so space is limited during rush hour times (like lunch). Other than that, the staff is very friendly and professional. read more

Probably the best sushi near Baptist South. There are a couple of other choices in nearby shopping centers, and I'll hit those sometimes if it's really convenient. But will often go out of my way for Sushi House & Grill. For lunch, one child will often get the shrimp or chicken teriyaki. Enjoys it. And the other two will get rolls along with me. They _don't_ have a lunch special commonly found in other sushi houses around town -- the "pick 2 rolls $9 and pick 3 rolls $12" sort of lunch special. But that's never stopped me from coming here when I'm in the area. It's worth the few extra bucks to get the fancier rolls at full price. They have a pretty good selection of entrees for the non-sushi eater in your life. Hibachi, teriyaki, tempura, katsu, udon, soba, lo mein, fried rice. Some of them look pretty tempting. This is one of the better sushi places close to our neck of the woods. They have great friendly service and good food. The teppanyaki meals are big enough for sharing and are done well in the kitchen - no show here. Sushi is always fresh when we order it. Their clear soup is excellent and never too salty. For those with children or just can't eat Japanese without shrimp sauce, this place has a whole squeeze bottle on each table. We actually had a conversation tonight wondering if there is more or less waste having this option. I recommend this place if you have a craving for sushi or teppanyaki. It's a small quaint place with little frills but their food is solid and they are competitively priced. If I had to guess they do twice as much takeout - at least - as dine. Date night, my sweetie and I both wanted some hibachi so we decided to dine at Sushi House and Grill in Bartram Park. Over the years, we've become the biggest fans of sushi and when I saw the sign, that said they were voted folioweekly Best of Jax :Best Sushi", I figured we'd try some for an appetizer. We ordered the Baymeadows Roll which was fried and had smoked salmon, cream cheese, crab stick, shrimp sauce, eel and spicy sauce. We were pleasantly surprised at how tasty it was! It was the best I've tried to date! While I was busy trying to be cute and not show how greedy I was, my BF saved the last piece for me! How sweet! I politely gobbled it up! I LOVE Hibachi, well....I REALLY REALLY LOVE Hibachi!!! That's what we both ordered and it was delicious!!! I drowned it in shrimp sauce and stuffed it down my throat! Wow, Sushi House has really been getting me through everything going on with COVID. They have not had their inside open but they still do pick and and delivery. I have been using them for delivery the last 2 times and everything has been amazing. First off it's only $2 for a delivery fee and my food always arrives much sooner then I would expect. I will say each time I have been ordering too much but every is always amazing and ends up being first. Of course they are still doing a free Dynamite Roll with orders of $35 or more but they are doing more on top of that too. If you order more then $50 you get a rewards card for a free special sushi roll or Hibachi meal once you collect 5. They also have been giving 6 free crab rangoons on orders more then $50 or $60 not sure which it is. Sushi House has been amazing lately and I have to say best sushi I have had in Jacksonville for sure it's no question. I have also found my new favorite rolls, the Ohyama Roll and the Yuki Roll. The teriyaki shrimp came out on a sizzling hot plate, similar to a fajita-style entree, and the vegetables were cooked just right, not under or over-cooked. Edamame and sushi were both fresh and tasted great. The service was also good and the food came out quickly. A complimentary cucumber salad appetizer was delivered before the meal. I didn't try it, because I hate cucumbers, but others in our party said it tasted good and had a bit of a spicy flavor. The restaurant is fairly small and every table was occupied when we arrived, but we were seated after only a few minutes. Something has happened to Sushi House since Summer and it isn't good. We've been loyal customers for years because of the excellent service and consistent meals we had been receiving. Over the Summer changes were made to the way the shrimp tempura in the rolls were served. Then, during my recent order last month we discovered that the katsu sauce was nothing like it had been normally and that our food didn't taste as good as it used to. Also noticed that our favorite employees went from being there all of the time, to constantly being on 'vacation'. Sadly, we are now looking for a new favorite sushi restaurant :( read more

This was the best sushi we've had in a long time. When we were seated we told them that this was our first time trying the place and my wife's birthday. My wife, kids and I were all given complimentary Miso soup and Crab Rangoons. The soup was very good but the Rangoons we're great. When we complimented them on the Rangoons they brought out more for free. We ordered 11 rolls. The King Dragon, Baymeadows, Rock N Roll and Philly Roll were my favorites but every roll we ordered was delisious. One of my children also ordered Chicken Fried Rice and he loved that too. Service is always exceptional in the dining room and take away service is prompt and courteous. Favorite rolls include the Special Maki, Japonica, UFO, and the Love Roll (spicy tuna based). Rolls are priced right for the amount of food received. In the dining room, complementary soup and crab rangoons come before the meal. Crab rangoons also accompany take away orders gratis. I hate giving bad reviews....but the after taste of this sushi is still in my mouth two days later. I ate one bite of the Atlantic roll....ugh it tasted like...ugh I have no words, just bad not fresh at all. My daughter had the spicy tuna roll and she immediately felt nauseous after one bite. We had some type of tuna salad for an appetizer. The cut of the tuna was stringy and not that melting effect you often get from fresh tasteful tuna. Not only was the food bad the chef prepared it set it on top of the counter for the waitress to pick up. I then witnessed him walking away from his work station and never even saying to the waitress the order was up, well the waitress was clearly doing something else. I knew the order had to be mine because there was only two other people in the restaurant and they were a couple who appeared to be done with their food. They were seated next to our booth but we're there before we arrived. I had to call her "Excuse me. Is this our food sitting on the counter?" The place is very quaint, almost a hole in the wall, but very clean and well kept. I wish the sushi bar was a little bigger. There was a mom with 2 daughters at the bar and that was pretty much the seating - the entire place probably seats less than 50 people. Service was quick and genuine, although a younger server (maybe a relative) brought me a 12oz Sapporo as opposed to the 20oz I ordered (don't worry, I did not suffer... I felt much better after my second 12oz). A woman I believe the owner came into the dining room as I was finishing my meal and was very pleasant and had a great presence. I ordered a piece of unagi, a spicy tuna roll and a shrimp tempura roll. I was brought a bowl of miso soup while I was deciding what to order - score #1. When I came back from washing my hands, I found a crab rangoon - score #2! I guess I forgot this place also does hibachi and asked the server about the pink sauce in the Sriracha bottle on the table... seafood.shrimp sauce. First time I've had it on a crab rangoon - pretty damn tasty. Unagi was generous and not over sauced. The shrimp tempura was great and they peeled the shrimp (I'm used to holding the tail as I consume the end pieces, but I was able to enjoy tempura all the way to the ends!). The spicy tuna roll was good and the tuna was very generous (actually sticking out of the ends). My only complaint is that it was not very spicy. I don't normally use the wasabi, but found myself adding some to each piece. The wasabi was not very spicy either. Still, very good. I will definitely be back. I left full and happy. read more

This place is great. I didn't expect to find great sushi in a strip mall in the suburbs! We've been a few times now, and we've never been disappointed. This time we tried the White Dragon, the Baymeadows roll, and the Alaskan. The White Dragon was a recommendation from our server, and it was definitely our new favorite! The Alaskan was a classic clean fresh roll, and the Baymeadows is fried. We didn't love the fried roll, but it's all a matter of preference- if you like fried rolls, you'd definitely like it! We ordered the mochi ice cream for dessert. We got two mango and one green tea. The green tea was good but the mango was even more flavorful. It came on a cute plate with chocolate drizzle, whipped cream and a cherry. I would've taken a picture but we dug in too quickly! The total bill for two people was under $30- definitely reasonable. The wait staff is amazingly attentive. They came by so often to refill our drinks and check on us, but never in an obnoxious way. The noise level is average, depending on how packed it is and how many loud kids there are. It can get a little crowded because it's a small place and it's quite popular. Of note, they don't serve the crab rangoons as appetizers anymore. We couldn't even find them on the menu. I'm not sure when they stopped, but we've been coming here since November and haven't ever gotten them. read more
