Stopped in here for a quick nibble before I got a manicure. It was my first time here. So glad I stopped in. Very nice atmospher. I was seated and my order was taken promptly. The service was definitely very good here. I ordered California roll. It came with 10 pieces which was very generous. 750 for that. The California roll was pretty tasty. It did have a crab salad type mixture instead of The crab by itself. I liked it. I ordered a seared salmon. This was just OK. Barely seared with no flair. The salmon was fresh tasting. I was charged a dollar extra for the sear, which I found different but OK. Maybe if there was a little bit of sesame seeds or sauce on it would be understandable. It was just under seared. I had a Sapporo which they have on draft. Very nice. All in all a good experience and I would definitely try this place again. read more

This is a good place to hang out with friends and relax, which is what I went to do. I didn't see any Japanese or Asians eating here, so I was suspicious. The space has a mixture of seating styles, and the wall art unique. Be careful where you sit. The menu has mostly Japanese, with a few Korean items. Service was relatively quick, and when asked, suggestions were provided. The servers checked in frequently, a be it brisque. The portions are a good size, and there were more flavors than just soy sauce and salt. Something was missing, or added that felt off. Great sushi, had the Ototo and Ora king salmon sashimi, sunset roll, and Front Range Roll

Drinks were in plastic cups, which was strange since everyone else had regular glasses. Not a big deal I guess since they were never refilled. The rolls we had were decent, except for the piece of plastic we found in one (which feels like an issue). One order was completely forgotten and not brought until after all the other food was gone. Then it was brought out brought several minutes later. This was the first time the waitress had checked in. No offer to take it off or cancel it, which we would have done since we were done eating and it had clearly been forgotten. Could have been an off night but those issues ruined the experience. read more

Sushi is always fresh and they offer Toro which is either hit or miss in Colorado and they have some quality Toro for a great price. Definitely will continue to come back. read more

What I've ordered: Beef tataki: 7/10 big portion, lots of sauce, would like mine a little less well done Rocky Mountain roll (only on dinner menu, but you can ask to see the dinner menu which has additional rolls and they're still happy to make it for you!) 10/10 It has everything you could want...sauces, crunch, fresh fish, and veryyyy filling! Hungry: 8.5/10 a little messy to try to eat, but worth it. Diablo: 6/10 this was my least favorite as I'm not a fan of baked rolls but still glad we tried it! Someone who loves baked rolls will like this! Spicy tuna: 8/10 it's a super simple roll, but still great flavor. Get this is you want a more plain roll or smaller one Centerra: 9/10 if you love shrimp tempura rolls and fresh salmon - this is the roll for you! Heart attack roll: 8/10 very rich, crunchy on the inside and just an all around creative roll Service is always so freaking friendly and I love seeing the talented chefs joke around with the servers! Had the honor of dining in at one of the top 50 restaurants in Loveland. Took a detour from the mountains to stop by for a snack to avoid traffic. First time here, so the server recommended her favorite roll, which is the Samurai Fiesta Roll. This had shrimp tempura, cream cheese and avocado, topped with mixed spicy crab, masago and scallion, baked and topped with spicy mayo. Kid-friendly restaurant and the best spot for sushi in northern Colorado. Also, you can tell a lot by the restaurant by the looks of the bathroom and it was indeed very clean. read more

Came in for a friend's birthday and were greeted and seated and they brought out the baby seat for the kiddo. We had ordered a ton of different rolls and they all came within 5-10 minutes. I've been eating at Sushi Jooa for the last three years when my daughter moved to Loveland. 2 years ago I left a 5 star review. Sadly, today, I must leave a 1 star review. My reasons for the one star have nothing to do with the quality of the food. The food is still top notch and 5 star. However, tonight I received the worst service I have experienced in years and I am not a picky person. Even my wife was taken aback and she never complains. First off we ordered the appetizer listed on the daily special chart just outside the entrance door. Our waitress had no clue what it was and therefore we didn't order it even though it was on the special's menu board. Second we ordered Hammachi Kama as an appetizer and requested it be served before the main course. The main course came immediately so we canceled the Hammachi Kama. Third my miso soup bowl tipped over spilling soup all over the table and myself. No waitress to be found so my wife went looking for paper towels. The other waitress not working our section assisted in cleaning up the mess and said she would bring another bowl of miso soup and new utensils. Fourth the miso soup never came and when the main course arrived our waitress didn't seem to notice I didn't have any utensils or napkins and left before I could mention it. We sat there for 10 minutes before the other waitress noticed we weren't eating and that's when we let her know I had nothing to eat with. Fifth we ordered Tobiko with quail egg for dessert. The other waitress who wasn't working our section came over to confirm if what we wanted was the small, flying fish roe and not the salmon roe. We said yes, the flying fish roe. After about 20 minutes of sitting in silence the roe and quail egg showed up with the large salmon roe and not the flying fish roe. That pretty much sums up the disaster. $102.00 for the worst service of the year and I left hungry because I was to afraid to order anything else for the risk of the order being screwed up. I am not leaving this one star review because of the food. As I said, the quality of the food is always great provided the waitress brings the right order and in the right order. I am leaving this 1 star review so the owners will know they need to do a better job of trying their waitstaff. I love this restaurant and I will return, but I will never sit in that waitress's section again. If that's the only section that has open seating I will drive to Fort Collins before I submit myself to that poor of service again. read more

I came here for the first time since the name change two weeks ago and already made it back today! The first time, I opted for the Teriyaki Salmon lunch special, and was entirely unprepared for the insane amount of food that was about to show up at the table. They started us off with fresh salad drizzled with a sweet honey mustard dressing, and an adorable cup of piping hot miso soup. Immediately after, our fresh four piece California Roll showed up, followed by crispy tempura vegetables and shrimp with a sweet sesame dipping sauce. Already I was feeling pretty dang full, but then we had two gyoza appear! I was becoming more anxious about the actual entrees since I was overstuffed, but I'm glad I decided to pack it in. The Teriyaki Salmon was an absolute monster of a cut - gigantic and thick, and perfectly cooked to a medium rare! It's so difficult to find a correctly cooked salmon, so this was an absolute shock to me to find it at a sushi restaurant. They offered us mochi as our final course which I physically had to turn down since absolutely nothing else would fit into my stomach. Went back today for the Miso Salmon and now need another two weeks to stop feeling full. Highly recommend if you're ravenous and ready to stuff yourself silly! read more

We ordered the spicy pork bulgogi, the beef yakisoba, and the tuna roll. The spicy pork bulgogi was absolutely delicious and the spice level was just right, had quite a bit of kick to it. However, for the price of the entree I was surprised when I was denied to get another small portion of rice, as the large majority of asian restaurants I've been to have at least one more portion of rice on the house for a dinner entree. The The beef yakisoba was okay, the meat was extremely well done and almost felt like beef jerky in texture. Again, for the price of this dish the quality was okay at best. The tuna roll was fine, can't complain as Colorado doesn't have access to fresh water. Service was fine as well and the ambiance was nice with good music. Overall, fine experience. We got take-out here for dinner yesterday (Sunday). We'd been wanting to try Sushi Jooa since we moved to Loveland last year but just hadn't gotten around to it. We were not disappointed! I got the chicken teriyaki (the entree, not the sushi roll) and it came with salad (I couldn't eat some of the lettuce so I gave it to my spouse) and miso soup! The chicken was really well-flavored, the rice was sticky and delicious. And the sauce was just what I was looking for in a teriyaki sauce. My spouse got their seafood fried rice and he raved about it for hours. They also gave us a salad and a miso soup with his order! I LOVED their miso soup. The broth has that delicate, fishy, distinctively miso flavor, the tofu is cut into nice small pieces, and the seaweed is tender yet thick. Really some of the best miso soup I've had in a long time. We look forward to trying more of their menu, maybe even their sushi, soon. read more

I had been here one time before and I remember it being fairly good but we weren't impressed on this visit. FAST Review Food: we ordered miso soup, tempura vegetables, chicken teriyaki, Mexican roll, Spicy Tuna roll and a pot of green tea. The rolls were fine, the issue was the Chicken Teriyaki, as it came out more like Chicken fajitas, it's a lot of food on one dish but it was piled on a bunch of grilled onions and the chicken was bland. We asked for extra teriyaki sauce which made it better. BTW my wife is allergic to onions so she was surprised by all the onions, but as long as she is able to pick around them she is ok. The tempura and miso soup were good. Atmosphere: the place is nice. We were in a small back room with 7 other tables, not too noisy and the decor is like a standard Japanese restaurant. Service: our waitress Sky was great. Considering it was busy for Valentines Day, she was very attentive. I'd say the only issue with the service is no plates were provided for the Chicken Teriyaki, so my wife used the small appetizer plate. Yes we could have asked for a large plate, but she chose to start eating than wait for it to get cold. Tips: I prefer siting at the bar, it's a lot more fun watching the chefs make the sushi and they are just fun in general. There was only one cook (clearly not a pro) and he had no chance even if his staff helped. I think the tuna was ran through a meat grinder. My fried roll was just uncooked dough and oily rice. There were good and bad: the good - the jalapeño appetizer was really good the waitress was great as well the service and the Vegas roll was pretty good I think what did it for me was a very fishy roll that was Tuna the waitress said it should taste like but I'm pretty sure I've had abracore (sc) Tuna and it never tasted like that so I wouldn't not come back for that reason and also the other rolls were sub par besides the jalapeño one read more

Definitely a fan of this sushi spot and it's so close to my house...talking about convenience. Used to come here often when it was "Sushi Zensai", then they moved their location. I didn't go for a while because I didn't know what to expect from this new one, until a friend told me a few months ago that Sushi Jooa also has great selection from their menu and how yummy the sushi is. And the chef from the previous establishment is also the new owner, that got me excited to go and didn't disappoint. The lunch special that comes with 3 rolls is great, tasty and a good fill up. I also ordered some special rolls like the spider and tarantula rolls (soft shell crab, avocado, masago with house sauce) they are all delicious and nice generous rolls. I ordered from the kids' menu once too and we got a chicken katsu for my son - came with a generous portion! (rice, chicken katsu, oranges and broccoli) and a choice of ice cream mochi! I'm pleasantly surprised. The only thing, the service experience can be good if you get the right waiter(ess) or you might get a waiter that completely ignored you almost the entire time you were there and you had to get another waitress to help out with your dining needs. That was kinda ridiculous - he didn't even check if I had a utensil or a chopstick. But at least the food is yummy so I won't let that stop me from going back in the future. read more

We enjoyed our meal. The sushi was good but hit and miss. Some rolls tasted amazing and some of the other rolls didn't taste as fresh. It was hard to know what rolls as everything came out looking different and tasting different than expected. Service was ok even though it took close to 40 minutes to get our food and we were one of 2 tables at the time we ate. Prices were more expensive than anticipated and the rolls were not very big. We were told by a local that the rolls were massive, this was not the case. Overall good food. We might be back, but there are places we would would consider before this place.
