The prices are good compared to home but a lot of things are extra but it's not indicated on the menu so that was a bummer to keep hearing "this is extra". Very disappointing customer service I stopped by Honolulu Poke to pick up lunch, and while I was there, the restaurant lost power. The manager mentioned that this has happened more than five times and that sometimes it can take hours for the power to come back on. There were only two customers in line, and instead of simply comping the meals or finding a reasonable way to take care of the customers, we were expected to wait around for the power to return. In my case, I was actually told that I needed to place my order online instead. I understand that power outages can happen and are sometimes completely out of a business's control. What is within their control is how they treat customers when something goes wrong. In this situation, the customer service was poor and there was very little effort to make an inconvenient situation right. I used to eat here almost everyday when I lived in Johnstown, I went back craving a bowl and it just wasn't the same. The quality in fish has severely declined. It was mushy and not pleasant. The cucumber has a strange taste that old cucumber would have. The sauces however are very good. Covers up some of the unpleasant flavor. The inside is modern but somewhat cold and the staff don't seem to enjoy it there. It's a good 5/10. Probably won't be going back read more

By far and away our favorite poke spot! I've had several in Denver and none have matched the poke I loved in Hawaii. Honolulu is super fresh and delicious EVERY TIME! We've actually made the trip here from Denver specifically for this poke....and to wander around Scheel's since they're in the same parking lot. They have 3 bowl sizes and the medium (what I get) has 3 different proteins. The proteins are always fresh - my favorites are the tuna, scallops and the spicy tuna - all different textures. I'm also partial to their sticky, white rice. I strongly recommend the house sauce and the spicy aoli as well as the squid salad. The veges are always crisp and bright and when you build that perfect bite, it's ah-may-zing!!! I also get the Purple drink or the Black-sugar Tea - delicious!! This is where I wish partial stars were possible. I will start by clarifying the food is a four but had to decrease based on the bubble tea which I may be spoiled by Boba Tonka in MN. This place is quick service where they have a combination of build your own with some predefined options. I opted for the combo curry bowl which came with rice, chicken, meatballs, curry sauce, and pickled radish. I added jalapeno and fried onions. Overall the proteins were a decent amount for the size of the bowl and the curry sauce had a decent flavor (not too bland or spicy) My daughter had a simple chicken and rice bowl which she said was alright, white meat chicken and not over cooked. My wife did build your own with white rice, spicy tuna, jalapeno, green onion, cilantro, spicy aioli, mango, pineapple, fried onions, and 7 spice. A good combination of spicy and sweet, the flavors were nice with a not fishy tuna and the small bowl is good for a largish lunch. There are better places to get bubble tea but they offer a good range of personalization. Overall would eat here again but likely will skip their bubble tea. read more

We love the customizability of each bowl and the ingredients tasted fresh and of high quality. In looking at a few negative reviews, I will disagree in the pricing as I felt that their price was fair. They were generous with the amount of ingredients from the protein, veggies, sauces, and seasonings. Service was also very friendly. The only reason for a 4-star rating is that the mango milk tea we ordered had a metallic taste that was not pleasant. This was first noticed by my 7 year old but then verified by several adults. Because of this, y'all could see why I was excited to try a place called Honolulu Poke Bar. When I got up to the counter, I was greeted (not really) with a chilling stare from the poke artist. He was very unfriendly and gave me Anton Ego vibes. I began with rice, spicy tuna, and spicy salmon. When I asked for cilantro, he literally put a whole handful on my bowl. I finished with some toppings, but when he added the sauce, he DUMPED that sauce on there. The fish is not supposed to be swimming anymore, but that's how it looked after he handed me my bowl. The bowl was awful. The texture of the salmon was like licking dry skin and the tuna reminded me of the leftovers in the bag after you mow your lawn. My bowl was so drenched in the aoli that I couldn't even eat it after a few bites. The moral of the story, this joint either needs to change its misleading name, or the consumer should never judge a book by its cover. read more

I really really wanted to eat here because 1. I love poke and 2. I've heard a lot of great things about this place from friends. Reading through some of these well thought out reviews makes me really bummed about what happened to me. Full disclosure: I went to culinary school, I have a ServSafe Certified and I work as a line cook in the area. So you'll either read this as 'oh look at this pompous germaphobe ruining restaurants for me because she knows what she's talking about, RUDE' or 'holy crap, look at this professional taking the time to educate me, the employee and possibly the owner on food safety!!' How you take it will show the kind of person you are. I walked in Sunday afternoon and the employee at the counter greeted me, not wearing gloves. Strike one. I start to place my order of a salad bowl, and the employee looks over at the salad and says one second, goes back to the walk-in and brings out a bag of salad, then proceeds to place the new salad ON TOP of the older salad in the serving area. Strike two. Without gloves. Strike three. (During this time, I glance over at the other employee making bowls for two other customers, he too was not wearing gloves and touching food.) The employee, then starts to portion the salad greens into a bowl, he then drops a piece of lettuce into the container of spicy tuna, he then picks the piece of lettuce that is now contaminated with seafood and places it gently BACK INTO THE MIXED GREENS BIN. Strike...uh, I don't know, I've lost count. At that moment, I looked at the kid and said, I'm not eating here and walked out. Per Colorado state law, one MUST wear gloves when handling ready to eat food. I'm sorry if this ruins eating out for some of you, I don't like wearing gloves either when I'm preparing food, but I do because it's the law, and I want to protect the people I am cooking for. I'm not a germaphobe, I am a professional and I take *my* work seriously. So when I see places not training their employees properly, not using basic food safety knowledge, it really concerns me. This would concern me even if we weren't in the middle of a pandemic. I don't want the kid fired, he obviously was clueless and untrained which is an easy fix. Proper food safety training benefits everyone, from worker to owner to customer. I hope Honolulu Poke Bar takes the time to do so. read more

Just had 2 Poke bowls delivered via DoorDash and I think I just found my favorite meal in Loveland! The ingredients were so fresh and delicious! This was my 2nd time trying Poke and I'm in love! REALLY?!?! I stopped in eagerly! To my delight, the restaurant was immaculate inside- so clean, so open, and lots of great menu choices. They offer several sizes in bowls- small, medium, large, and kid size. Fish portions are generous and the you can taste the fresh quality of the fish. Side toppings offered some unique and new pairings- like egg and tofu skin. Plus your standard veggies- edamame, cucumber, jalapeño, etc. I ended up getting their house sauce- a bit creamy but yummy. Having been to Hawaii, I need to say this place passed my standard esp it is in northern CO. The idea of having Poke bar in this area is fantastic abs they seemed to do well. The quality of ingredients was great. Never seen fruit options as a topping in Hawaii so this place is pretty creative to have that. The restaurant is clean and so spacious with booths, tables, and high chairs stuff. I see myself going back for sure. I was so excited so I went with the large size and I didn't regret it. My picks were great, and everything mixed well together. The sauce I got was kinda too light a bit so I suggest giving options to customers on how heavy the sauce they prefer. We stayed in line not so long and everyone was happy. More suggestion will be coming up with the great mixed bowls in your opinion just so customers can just order those with no need to ask back and forth. What will be good with A or B? I used to love this restaurant, but due to my most recent experience, I won't be visiting again. I was double charged for a pick-up. When I called to resolve the issue, they hung up on me, and I had to call multiple times to get ahold of them again. When I finally got ahold of someone, I was told they would contact their customer service to resolve the matter. I never received a callback, so I disputed the charge with my bank. Now, almost a month later, they're claiming I picked up two separate orders on separate days and refusing to refund me even though I have screenshots of the same charge from the same day. Revisiting again now that I'm there about half the time I'm at the nearby shooting range. Given their wide variety of choices, time for some pro tips what what I usually do for my bowls. Favorite stuffs that I've mixed into bowls over the year or so I've been going include: Spicy Salmon and Steak are my go to Proteins, but I haven't had a bad one yet. Just they stand out for some reason. I tend to stick with the same protein (or: All scoops Spicy Salmon for example). Yuzu Citrus Sauce if I'm feeling mild, Wasabi Shoyu comes with a Danger Spicy warning, but is definitely the go to for something with some zip. Also the house sauce works well with much of their stuff. Usually I mix the Squid or Seaweed Salad in. ...and I probably never get the same add-ins twice in a row. Tomatoes, edamame beans and Corn about the only staple ones there that I add. Otherwise god knows what... Usually I find a medium size bowl good enough for the average size male. Wife and kiddos typically go small to medium on their bowls. But again, great healthy stuffs, love this place! read more
