Small Family-owned Japanese Restaurant [Chemainus BC] Wow! The last review posted was written 5 years ago. They originally offered table service but when Covid hit they only did take out and until now in September 2023 they still only do takeout orders. There are two tables for use in the dining room (good for up to 4 seating each) but there is no dining service available. This is a family-owned business (father-daughter). Friendly daughter who took our orders. We were the first one in when they opened for the day. When we originally came here first on Sunday they were closed. The business is closed on Sundays. Their business hours in Yelp needs updating. Open Mon-Sat 11:00a to 7:00p. I ordered the California Roll Bento Box. What would normally come in a bento box was served in a styrofoam box. It's okay since they are now just take out. Everything was delicious... the beef, salad, tempura except for the California Roll, it was not fresh and the kind you would get premade from a grocery store. We stopped in this small unassuming restaurant for a couple of rolls to take out, for our lunch. They were so good and quite large! Very tasty. I was somewhat surprised with the quality of sushi in the "middle of nowhere"! If we're ever in the area again, we would return. read more

I ordered the Korean BBQ boneless chicken for take out, sweet and spicy flavor. It was the best chicken I've ever had. Flavorful and tender, and the breaded outside still had a crunch even with the sauce. I'll definitely be going again. read more

Nice staff, extensive menu. Service was very prompt and polite. We loved the selection on the menu and being it was our first time there, my husband and I ordered a variety of items to share. We enjoyed a chicken teriyaki and a beef bento boxes, tempura prawns, dynamite roll, and tobico roll (not sure of the exact name of roll with flying fish roe, but my husband loved it). The portions and quality of food were superb, with great presentation. We enjoyed our meal, will be back again. read more

Was pleasantly surprised at how great the food was here! It's family run and you can tell. Nice server. Try the guise! So good and totally home made! Incredible value and selection and the sushi rolls are top quality. There is no compromise here and you will not be disappointed! We ordered a double dynamite, California, avocado, spicy salmon and chicken teriyaki on rice and none were subpar in taste and quality. Would definitely come here again no questions asked! Truly a great find in a small community with amazing views and a great environment so close to the sea. read more

Had a great Chemainus Roll yesterday so had to come back for a second try. Today spicy California Roll and chicken udon noodles and beef udon noodles. Will make this a must go to every time we are in Chemainus BC. read more
